I was driving in Placerville near the Donut Factory. They were still open for the day... so of course I made a beeline to get over there to buy some donuts. D'oh donuts!!! The donuts are darn tasty. My all time fave of a cake donut is pretty amazing here. Plus the place is family ran and the prices are pretty reasonable. Prices are significantly cheaper than the shops in Folsom. It was near closing time, so the selection was not their full offerings. But I was still able to get some cake donuts. $1. I bought vanilla cake and chocolate cakes with varying frostings and toppings. Mmm. They even taste just as good the day after; I know since we had a couple of donuts we bought and ate the next afternoon. They were still cakey moist, tasty and fresh tasting! Other signature items besides the donuts are apple turnovers, berry handheld bakes, chocolate croissants, and regular croissants. $2.50. All of them are home made and fresh baked. Looking all so gorgeous sitting behind the enclosed glass counter. A couple of bonuses of this donut shop are that they sell coffee and espresso drinks. Plus they have a few tables inside and outside where you can sit a spell and enjoy the donuts. It's a clean, no frills type of place.

Prices don't match what's charged. I questioned the prices and was gave some long drawn out reason why this Asian woman was justified for ripping me off(compared to the board that shares prices with customers). I paid more for a "mixed dozen" for $15. Got regular maple and chocolate donuts, nothing special and was charged $18. This may not seem like much but it adds up when your doing it to every customer. Just a heads up to watch out for this woman.

Blueberry and chocolate donut with nut.

That restaurant moved down the road to a bigger location. Now it's the home for Sunshine Donuts. They have darn delicious donuts! I only tried their donuts; at least for now. They also sell bagels, breakfast sandwiches, hot coffee, and a humongous cold case of nonalcoholic drinks (milk, teas, sodas, seltzers, waters. juices, energy drinks, and coffee drinks). Lots of drink choices to quench your thirst even if donuts aren't your thing. I know my way around a donut. Having been a connoisseur from an early age, thanks dad. The donuts sat so prettily behind the glass counter. All so gorgeous without bubbling and cracked glazes. That tells me they know how to handle the various doughs and baking methods for the donuts. I bought one of each: cake, glazed and old fashion. And ate them right away. Mmm. Delicious. The vanilla cake with white frosting tasted rich and dense like a cake. Not heavy. The glazed donut was light, fluffy, with a slight all so prefect signature donut chew. Beautiful glazing, not too sweet. My favorite. The old fashion like the cake donut had a tasty cakey interior but classic crackly outside texture. The family that owns the business knows donuts! And are so welcoming, epitome of a local donut shop. Throwing out a history lesson: This area is informally called Gutenberg Corner. The Victorian house across the street was built around 1859 by the local mill owner. Then purchased in 1912 by pharmacist Gutenberg. He owned a 400+ acre ranch along with a pharmacy. Asian owned business.

I even confirmed the price during the phone call because I wanted to make sure I understood correctly. The order was very simple , plain doughnuts, half maple and half chocolate. When I came in on Wednesday to pick them up, I added 4 additional doughnuts at the counter for my family. The total came out to $62, which was more than double what I had been quoted. I asked if the amount was correct and explained that I had been told $30 for the original order. The employee recalculated it and still said it was correct, then asked if I still wanted them. Unfortunately, this put me in a very uncomfortable position because there were people behind me, my children were with me, and the doughnuts were for my daughter's school class. I felt embarrassed and pressured into paying an amount I was not prepared for based on the quote I had received. Mistakes happen, but the situation was handled with very little concern or effort to make it right. The experience left a bad impression, and I won't be returning.

So, we rented the fishing rod for $12 but we didn't catch anything (not sure if there're any fish in the pond) - it was fun though. - Apple fritter walnut ($7): the fritter was good & cinnamony. It has lots of apple pieces and was covered with walnuts. It wasn't too sweet which was my liking. - Donut crumb ($2): the donut was good and soft. The crumb gave crunchy texture on the surface of the donut. - Dutch apple pie slice ($6): was ok. There were packed with apple pieces, very cinnamony and not too sweet. However, the crumb on top of the pie (that makes it 'Dutch') was disappointing - it was soggy and clumpy. - Sour cream berry pie ($6): delicious! The sour cream intensified the berry flavor and it was super good!

We got here on a Monday (11/24) around 10:30am and it was starting to get busy. We found parking right away close to the tent vendors. The line for the donuts/fritters was not bad at all. The only disappointment was no hot cider :( not sure if this is/isn't a thing at this farm, but that was one thing we were looking forward to. We rounded up all our treats and sat in the balcony patio of the Pie House. The tables and benches were a little damp, but we were able to easily wipe it down and enjoy the sun, crisp air and our delicious goodies!

They serve organic coffee and I could really taste the difference. They currently have a seasonal menu and their regular menu included some unique options. The maple latte caught my eye; I ordered it with oat milk and it was one of the best coffee drinks I've ever had. Seriously! It wasn't overpoweringly sweet, but there was enough flavor so it actually tasted like a maple latte instead of a warm milk as many special drinks end up tasting from my experience. It's always disappointing to buy an expensive coffee that doesn't have enough flavor, but you'll get what you pay for here. They offer a few little snacks and there is tons of seating (indoor and outdoor!) with beautiful natural light, art and plants. The baristas were kind and helpful and made beautiful latte art. If you love it as much as I did, you can even buy coffee beans and merchandise as well. It's tucked away in downtown placerville and I would highly recommend Pachamama to everyone!

This particular one is in Placerville, right on touristy Main Street. Well It's actually tucked in a shopping pedestrian alley right off Main Street. The coffee is delicious. I've had their various drip coffees before, all terrific tasting. My usual go to's are their lattes. This time I was in the mood for a seasonal winter drink, wintermint mocha. Yum! I ordered it with oat milk and they don't up charge. The mocha had a smooth, creamy chocolate espresso taste. I even got a pretty design of foamed milk on top of my drink. Aww it was cute. No up charge for that as well and I didn't even ask them to do it Outside the cafe is an outdoor courtyard with bistro tables for folks to sit n enjoy their coffee or whatever. I say whatever because the area is open for all to sit a spell. The courtyard is enclosed with brick buildings around its square perimeter. The buildings provide ample shade and cooling temps in the summer. Plus there is a water fountain that provides a calming zen like sound of trickling water. The cafe also has an indoor seating area. The interior furniture includes tables, sofas, lounge chairs, and high top tables aesthetically giving off modern, minimalist Scandinavian design vibes. Luvin this look.
