After having a great Detroit pizza at Hot Tongue Pizza, I decided I needed a coolant and found on a very busy street in Silverlake this non-dairy ice cream joint, Creamo Silverlake. I asked a serious question when I finally found a parking spot about three days after I started looking and that is "does anybody actually drive their car that is parked or just does the car sit there forever?" In any event, it's a clean not place with GF waffle cones and all but three flavors are GF. I ordered a coffee and peanut butter scoop in a waffle cone and proceeded to walk around for as long as I could to get full use of a street parking space a few blocks away. Ice cream was okay. Texture did feel light and airy and not too sweet. Flavor was corn inspired so it was unique and I enjoyed it. But the other flavors were average and fell flat. However the donuts were the greatest disappointment. They seemed like they've been sitting out for a while because they tasted and felt stale. This is the best vegan ice cream shop in LA! The Javabreaker (coffee) is strong and smooth, like a good cup of joe. It kept me up all night as I expected, but it's too good to skip! Best vegan ice cream I've had. It literally tastes like normal ice cream and I cannot believe it is non-dairy. My friend even called the next day to make sure because she was in such disbelief. She introduced me to this place because we are honestly addicted to non-dairy ice cream. After going here, we agreed that all other vegan ice cream places can leave. Creamo's ice cream is SO CREAMY and does not have that coconut-y flavor that other vegan ice creams have, since so many vegan options these days solely have a coconut milk base. I've been a big fan of donut friend since they first opened and was excited to finally try creamo.
