Great selection, happy staff and yummy donuts. They even had Diedrichs coffee! I'm giving an extra star for the coffee. The donuts were good. They were fluffy and iced perfectly. I like my apple fritters with more cinnamon and less vanilla but it was still tasty. The donut hole was standard. A quick 50 calories with little taste. One morning I left SD at 4:15 am to drive up to LA. Driving in the fog is crappy, but driving in the fog when you're sleepy is awful. After I passed the "boobies" on the 5 freeway, my eyes got very heavy and I knew I needed to make a pit stop. I whipped out my iPhone to search for a gas station or something that would be open at 5 am that had coffee. I exited and started making my way towards 7-Eleven in San Clemente. Driving on El Camino, it was a desolate ghost town. Then I saw a lit up little store and in big, bold bright red letters I see the word DONUT. I got very excited. Who doesn't love donuts? I ordered a glazed twist and medium coffee. I was told to help myself to the coffee. I was impressed with Donut House's selection of coffee condiments. They had regular sugar, sugar in the raw, splenda, sweet & low and my favorite, equal. They had creamer, half and half, whole milk, french vanilla and hazelnut. They even had two different pots of coffee, regular and strong. I went with the strong coffee, equal and french vanilla. (Note: Their coffee was really strong considering I felt like I was on crack until 10 or 11). The nice lady rung me up and I had to pay a whopping $2.35 for my donut and medium coffee. What a steal! As I went to my car and opened my baggie with my donut, I noticed they added 5 donut holes. It was a nice surprise. The donuts were really good. It was the perfect glazed twist. My trip to Donut House definitely perked up my morning. It looks like your typical donut shop, except they have a huge flat screen tv on the wall. If I'm ever trekking it up to LA in the wee hours of the dawn, I'm definitely going to stop here again. read more

Being a coffee snob my husband was ok with the Kona blend but it had a bit of a sour finish which is not desirable. I got an orange frosted cake donut and the orange was nice, with a bit of zest for real orange flavor. He got a cinnamon coated, double-looking glazed cinnamon roll. Nice presentation but a pretty standard flavor. A lot of the reviews stated they tossed in donut holes or a free donut...don't count on it, no on got that while I was in the store and I didn't either. This local owned family donut and coffee shop is top notch. From friendly service to a delicious array of freshly cooked donuts, it sets the maple bar high. There are innovative donuts, too (loved the bacon maple bar!) and the owner's wife told me they change out their oil each day so the donuts taste fresh. Her husband has been making donuts for 35 years and is a definite expert when it comes to yeast and cake style donuts.
