I have gone twice to Doppio Zero in Concord and I have always had exceptional service. In my most recent visit, I ordered the Carbonara and found it too dry, and the parmesan dominating my palate. Our server Oleg came to ask whether our food was okay and I honestly told him about my carbonara. To my surprise, he asked me to pick another dish from the menu to replace my disappointing one. I've been wanting to try this new Italian restaurant at the Veranda. It's located in between Shabuya and Puesto. Plenty of parking, but you might need to do a little bit of walking if the closer parking spots are full. We made reservations to sit outside and was seated immediately when we walked in. The outdoor area us just partially covered, but there are heaters so it was nice and warm. Just be aware that if it's misty/raining outside, you'll feel it if you're sitting in certain areas. We ordered the fried calamari & shrimp, croquette, and truffle French fries as appetizers. The calamari and fries were very good with a big portion size! However, I wish the croquettes were bigger. They also served complimentary bread with balsamic vinegar and olive oil to dip the bread in. I ordered the Il ragu, which I thought was a bit too salty, but otherwise good. Tables all around us were greeted & constantly checked up on and were given a pitcher of water - Our waiter walked back and forth past us about 7 times and didn't ask us once if we were ok or needed anything. The entire 30 minutes sitting there, we weren't given a drop of water (see photo of our empty glass cups) or were not asked how our meals were going, however the tables around us were given a different and better treatment! (See photo of the table next to us with a pitcher of water, that we weren't offered- btw we were seated first). Wouldn't come back and couldn't recommend.. The pizza was so soggy, we needed a fork to hold the other end up to eat it (see photo of our wet plate of pizza- we only ate 1 slice each person). Very unpleasant experience!! Left after only eating 4 bites of our food. It was a packed house, but not enough to say it was BUSY. The restaurant next door was FULL and we had a great experience during our visit the weekend before... So the excuse "busy" is not acceptable. The restaurant is beautiful and awesomely located near other restaurants, shops and hotels. The food was so flavorful and was reminiscent of flavors I had in Italy! The service of the food itself came quick, however it seemed our server was doing many other things so we had to get all we wanted in the couples times we saw them. This is my second time at Doppio. It is a competent Italian restaurant but feels like a franchise/chain in the execution of the entrees. The pizzas are the highlight of the menu. They taste as if baked in a real pizza oven. The crusts are crispy, toppings piping hot with great flavor. The shishito peppers were blistered perfectly. The prosciutto was delicious though the burrata was not fresh. Same with the bruschetta... the bread lacked freshness and the toppings were a bit bland. The Sangue di Rosmarino was very yummy. Why they decided to add an obviously old piece of rosemary as a garnish was a mystery. I have had both the Marechiaro (squid ink pasta) and lobster ravioli. The pasta was the better of the two dishes. The ravioli was a bit tough and the sauce not a good accompaniment. Overall the restaurant feels more corporate than artisanal. The service is great. The interior is nice. Would I come again? Probably. Like I said it is a nice restaurant. read more

Excited to try the new Doppio zero in concord, however my partner and I were quickly disappointed. We ordered Burrata as an appetizer the first one arrived ICY and frozen. The waiter brought us a new one that seemed as though it was just then thawed out leaving it watery (not to be mistaken as creamy). I am a believer that less is more and aged prosciutto should be almost transparent but this was thick cut. We had ordered the diavola & Margarita pizza as our main dish. My margarita pizza was burnt and the sauce/cheese had a very mushy texture other than that the flavor of the sauce/cheese were okay. My partners diavola pizza was good. Overall nothing special.. Honestly I'm so torn when it comes to how many stars I should give. I just realized Yelp only allows whole stars without the option of half stars. If I could, I would give Doppio Zero 3.5 stars. I found this restaurant to be physically appealing. There was no wait nor were reservations required. I was quite impressed with how quickly we were seated as we are a party of 6. I found the establishment to be clean, Covid compliant and the staff was friendly. If you are into aesthetically pleasing views and would like to dine somewhere atmospherically appealing Doppio Zero is the place. I can't get over how extremely friendly and attentive the staff was. We were greeted immediately, our items were brought out expeditiously. I will say the menu is limited. You are unable to add items but you are able to remove them (well some). There is only one option for lasagna and one option for ravioli. For example, I wanted the ravioli but I dislike mushrooms. I was unable to have the ravioli as it is pre-made and removal of mushrooms is not an option. The lasagna is great for a meat lover however if I wanted 4/5 cheese or seafood lasagna that is not an option. My spouse chose to get the lasagna and said it was very "saucy" and there was not enough cheese. He described it as bland when asked how it tasted. Unable to order the ravioli, I opted for the Jalapeño pizza. The description was more appealing than the actual pizza. When it arrived, I found the crust to be soggy. When I lifted the slices, the toppings just fell off. When I bit into the pizza it felt a bit mushy and was not to my liking. Honestly I couldn't get past the texture of the pizza. One of my daughter's ordered the Delizia without mushrooms. She thoroughly enjoyed her food. I was able taste her food and it was seasoned to perfection. Of all of the meals I would highly recommend that. We ordered two kids pizzas which met the kids expectations. Overall the food was subpar in my opinion. The prices were reasonable for the most part. When the bill came we noticed they charge for everything including kids drinks. We assumed the drinks would be a part of their meal but they were $4 each. $4 for kids drinks is expensive especially for the portion in comparison to other restaurants if it's caliber. They also offer unflavored sparkling water as an option. As it's very much an acquired taste, for $8 a bottle I would suggest being familiar with the brand before committing. They have plastic curtains hanging that don't do much. Other parties that were sat in our area ended up moving inside. While our waiter was attentive, the service was much almost too fast? We sat down at 6:35 and left at 7:08. Our drinks, appetizers, and main courses arrived within 10 minutes of us sitting down, making the experience feel super rushed. Given the price point of $140 for two people, we expected a slightly more leisurely dining experience. The food itself was a letdown. The pasta was undercooked, and the pizza was soggy. The potato croquettes were served as 5 sad balls alone in a metal bowl with what I can only guess was hidden valley ranch. I came here in April and had a fabulous meal and would have given it 5 stars. We came back today and I ordered the same Gnocchi because I loved it so much. This time I received it and it was luke warm, not hot. The crispy basil on top was not crispy. It was soft and oil drenched. My husband got the lasagna and again it was warm, not hot. Both tasted fine, but not amazing. Also, we had to ask for bread and when we received it , it was in a basket and looked like scraps they just cut and threw in there. Plus it was cold and stale. Had dinner here the other night, I've been here before but this is by far the best experience I've had so far. Host was very friendly and our server was great. We started off with the potato croquettes which were so good, they had a delicious cheesy filling, perfectly fried, and the sauce it came with complimented the dish very well. I ordered the fettuccine oxtail pasta dish per my servers recommendation and it was hands down the best pasta I've ever had. The flavor was amazing, the meat was so juicy and tender, and the noodles were cooked perfectly. My gf ordered the margherita pizza which is always a hit. The "jumbo scallops" were scallops chopped up and the 6 clams were small with lots of sliced cherry tomatoes and no roasted garlic as stated on the menu. The first bite of the wild rice was super hard and crunchy. My mother-in-law also had the salmon dish and agreed that her dish was also crunchy and hard. We are avid cooks, so we know wild rice is suppose to be a bit al dente, but not crunchy and hard. We mentioned to our waiter that we felt the rice was undercooked. She came back after talking to the chef that wild rice is suppose to be hard. Total turn off. Their red pasta sauce was pretty good. We ordered a plain pasta with red sauce for my little one. Their passion fruit mojitos had good flavor not enough alcohol, and this is coming from someone who doesn't drink much. The Smokey flavor from the pizza oven was spot on. I've walked past this restaurant a few times and I've never really heard good things about it. I came into this restaurant with not high expectations, yet it still fell flat. The truffle fries were a major miss for me as that they didn't taste truffle-y at all. I understand that it's in the oil, yet I couldn't taste it. Also, they came with a side of individual ketchup packets which was disappointing since usually restaurants have a special sauce for their fries. Would've especially loved a garlic aioli or a mayo based sauce for this. Our server said the ravioli could feed two and even though this picture had one piece taken out, I think it's a still a little skimpy for two. Maybe a bigger-ish portioned meal for one. The major miss was the Formaggi Pizza. Both pizzas were very greasy to the point where it's difficult to hold. The toppings were slipping off. The Formaggi was especially overly salted and had me having to balance it out with red pepper flakes. A couple highlights were the service. Our server was incredibly accommodating and kind, answered any questions we had. Also, the Burrata was pretty good, kind of wish it had a side of bread/crostini. They offered outdoor seating on the side, they also offered seating in the rear that was tented with heating lamps as well as seating a few steps away with a fire pit. The kind host advised seating in the back because it would be warmer on this dreary day with possible chances of showers. I knew exactly what I wanted I couldn't wait to try the ever so popular ravioli. This is a dish made up of spinach ravioli stuffed with mushrooms nestled in a creamy ricotta and truffle fondue sauce. It did not disappoint. The bread with olive oil and balsamic for dipping they served was a nice starter to the lunch. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Saturday date night. Our order: aperol spritz, old fashioned, margherita pizza, bistecca and marechiaro. We (mostly me) devoured the margherita. It had the most airy and fluffiest dough that soaked up all the San Marzano tomato juice. Anyone that know me know that I don't do cheese unless it's completely melted, but I had to make an exception for the mozzarella - just divine and perfectly balanced the mildly tart sauce. Marechiaro tasted as if it was made ocean to table - fresh, naturally flavoured and highlighted with the aromas of garlic and blistered cherry tomatoes. Bistecca was tender and evenly medium rare but I probably wouldn't order again until indoor dining returns - no steak performs well under cold temperatures. Doppio Zero easily became my favourite Italian restaurant in Concord. For a while, I hesitated to dine at Italian restaurants in the area because of the mediocre experiences I have had to date. I remember wandering around the Veranda and feeling curious about this spot that braved the pandemic and launched anyway. The food was flavorless. I got the fettuccine short ribs and it tasted like an off brand ravioli. The Brussels sprouts were burnt. Both dishes seemed like an ingredient was missing. The reviews suggested the burnt pizza was intentional, so I asked to not make it so crispy or burnt which they didn't. I did notice that pizza had blotches of cheese and not a consistent cheese all over . If you've been around Veranda in Concord, try this Italian place. They have indoor and outdoor dining. For indoor, they require proof of vaccination and have strict COVID protocols. This was our first time dining here and we ordered their El Ragu and Salcissia Pizza. El Ragu had homemade tube pasta with braised pork ragu. This pasta is really good and the braised pork is soft and tender. It's not too filling and the size is about right. In fact, me and my wife shared this portion. Their Salcissia pizza had Italian sausage with olives. The tomato is not overpowering and the thin crust is perfect for this serving.
