Love the ambiance at this restaurant. Super positive vibes but still sexy and luxury. I am obsessed with their apps, the truffle fries are out of this world but I love the calamari, the mussels, and the carpaccio. The drinks are delicious and ther service is great. I rarely pen reviews for restaurants due to the fact that I worked in that realm for many years. What has motivated me to write this review is due to the horrible experience we had at this restaurant. Prior to going I read the biographies of the Owner/Chef, Owner/wife and the General Manager all very, very impressive. Especially the Owner/Chef. The service and the food were extremely disappointing. I had the Delmonico steak ($79) and it was the worst steak I've had in my life. My wife and friend had the OssaBuco raviolis that were so bad they were not able to eat all but one or two each. I ordered a baked potato and a Sprite and our friend's spouse ordered a glass of wine to be coordinated with the arrival of our entrees. Each arrived after we were halfway through our meals. Once seated we informed the waiter that we wanted to have separate checks for each couple. When the check arrived he had combined both orders onto one check. We were so mad we just spilt the bill so we could leave. The icing on the cake to end our experience was the GM waiting for us to leave while holding a small bowl of chocolate mints! The irony of the moment was not lost on any of us as we moved towards our car promising to never return. read more

Beautiful restaurant. You'd never know it used to be a TGI Fridays. The food on the other hand was pitiful. My mother had the bucatini - absolutely no flavor - pretty sure they didn't even salt the pasta water. Horseradish crusted steak had barely detectable horseradish flavor. Potatoes, creamed spinach and cauliflower gratin were all completely unseasoned, no salt at all. Lemon olive oil cake has a nice flavor, but would have been better if before they serve it to us, they let it thaw completely after it was delivered by Sysco. Oh, the cocktails were good. Then we met Floyd , the very unenthusiastic waiter. (Don't worry we always tip at least 20% but he needs to speak louder and more clear) French onion soup was the best I've had In Naples. The shrimp cocktail was a bit underwhelming , but fresh. Wedge salad was fresh and. The bacon delicious. The Caprese salad was forgettable, which is a shame since tomato's are so good and easy to acquire in the summer. Aged bone-in ribeye fell flat on flavor. Delmonico ribeye was tough, and slightly over cooked. . The 10oz filet was the best steak ordered. Brussel sprouts were just ok, same as shrooms. Dirty martini and wine were good, but we picked what we wanted there. (Austin Hope Cab -excellent with red meat!) I must say, being handed a $500 bill while your sever passes, no eye context, and barely mutters a thank you as he hurried along. Then to be handed a to-go container to put leftovers in was shocking. I'm not pretentious, but seriously! But more shocking was the lack of hospitality. For the price range, I expected more. Sad to be so disappointed after waiting so long to dine here. I really enjoyed many things about Dorona such as the cute decor, delicious selection of wines and food. The staff was friendly and attentive. Not too pushy, and offered great options. My glasses of broadside cabernet were smooth and full of flavor! Our table started with the grilled octopus and charcuterie for two. Perfect char on octopus! Very yummy! The charcuterie had a lovely selection of meats, cheese, nuts, fruit. Definitely a must try! For entree, I selected the branzino. It was fine - not wowed. Tiramasu for dessert - was excellent. My only complaint would be the booth I sat at had a very narrow table. It was not comfortable sitting with table further away. My kids also struggled. Overall good Experience read more

Delightful Presentation...yet I was completely underwhelmed by my dining experience at Dorona tonight. Service was slow, martinis were too warm, not good if you like shards of ice on your martini. My friend was completely happy with her Osso Bucco filled ravioli but my New York Strip was mediocre at best and the mashed potatoes were too salty. Lisa, our server, was very nice & offered me something else but I had been there 2 hours by this time and was over it! I told her it was no reflection on her but not likely I would come back & I paid the bill. When picking up the payment Server Lisa asked if the manager had stopped by, I said no but right after she walked away he showed up & asked how everything was, I told him my friend was quite pleased but that my dinner was not so good, after I explained why I was not happy he offered me his business card... I asked him what was the purpose and he said next time I come in ask for him and he'll try to make sure it goes better. I was completely dumbfounded by this feigned attempt at sincerity, so I wrote thanks for the card on the back of it and left it there on the table. I doubt he will ever even look at it, and even if he does, I doubt he will get it! I was sure to leave a compliment fir server Lisa on the check and over tipped. SOOO good!!! We got treated very well, Andrew was our waiter and he did a magnificent job at paying attention to clearing dirty plates, refills, and making sure we were enjoying our dinner. The Shrimp Cocktail was the best I've ever had. The shrimp were enormous and tasted delicious. The Humbolt Fog Blue Cheese was amazing. I've never had a cheese that is soft with a brie-like consistency on the outside and a little more firm on the inside. Absolutely wonderful. The dinner bread was soft and crunchy on the outside, just how I like it. My filet was cooked perfectly and OH EM GEE you have to try the Black Truffle Sauce. It smelled so good I was thinking about buying a Black Truffle candle at some point for my house. We also got the ravioli and those were great as well. All around wonderful dinner and service. it Was my husbands birthday yesterday & thought We would go to Dorona because he wanted a good steak dinner. I normally don't give bad reviews but I had to because my husbands birthday dinner was so disappointing. His $68 NY strip was very tough & our waitress who took the order was a no show for the rest of the evening. We were about halfway through our appetizer when the steaks show up!!! Busboy was going to take them back & we said just leave it rather than have them reheated. We had a cocktail & my husband said that he would like to order wine with his steak....she never showed up! When we were leaving, we asked to speak to manager, did so because we only left a 15% tip. Explained situation & he said they're having help problems, which is not our problem! One star for the service from the bartender. Zero stars for what we came for, the food. I do not eat a burger often, but I do enjoy a big juicy burger with a char once in a while. I figured that at $26 Dorona would be a good choice. Was I wrong. I ordered medium rare, it came out like an over cooked hockey puck. No onions that I asked for.. It maybe the least tasty burger I have had in years. I know it might seem trite, but Burger King would have been much better. The folks sitting next to us all sent their steaks back as they were also way over done. When they came back they were served on the existing cold plates with cold mashed potatoes and veggies. We celebrated my husband's milestone birthday at Dorona on Wednesday night. The staff were very helpful in planning the event. They gave us multiple options on where to sit, and allowed us to bring in a cake, candles, decorations, and wine. Our waiter was very personable and attentive and added to the enjoyment of the evening. Everyone enjoyed their meal with the exception of those who ordered the paella, which they both agreed was quite dry. The waiter promptly offered to replace their entrees with something else. The seafood tower, caprese salad, salmon, and lamb chops were all delicious. The restaurant has a beautiful ambiance, one of the nicest in Naples in my opinion. Their is ample parking in the lot in front of the restaurant. I would definitely return to Dorona! read more

The atmosphere was beautiful. We went to the venue for a tribute to Jimmy Buffet. The service was rude and slow. The burgers were 30 dollars and they were not any thing special. They were a low quality burger and not done well. My husband had one bite of his food and the server "Gaga" never checked back. The server was mad at us when we asked to not pay for something he didn't eat. She spilled our drinks on one of our friends and she acted like it was his fault. I will not return. Quality. We made it a point to try the early bird prix fix menu. Three courses for $39. Clearly we weren't alone! Off season notwithstanding, the crowd was a bit loud at the bar and continued to fill up. To start I had a delicious cocktail--my Citron lavender martini was perfect albeit on the expensive side at $16. We both had arugula salads which had just the right amount of dressing and were light, zesty with just a hint of citrus. Very refreshing. The other choices were a caprese salad and a risotto for starters. Next, for the main course, I had the chicken marsala, my husband the carbonara. Both small but just the right portion. They also offered a 5oz steak. We were sad to learn that of the two dessert choices- profiteroles with dark chocolate or brownie sundae- only the brownie would be available. So with such a limited menu, to not have all offerings was a big disappointment. And perhaps a money-back situation (which we weren't offered). The brownie was really disappointing-- two scoops of ok ice cream over a dab of something chocolate. Was that supposed to be a brownie? Hardly. One thing that was apparent was the skill level of our waitress (Dragana) versus some of the others, like John. Ours was not well skilled at all. She didn't engage or entice, explain or make anything sound good. This made the experience less than perfect but overall it was worthwhile and enjoyable. This place is amazing. We started out with the charcuterie board for 2. So delicious, next we had the ravioli-we did the half portion (not advertised, but they will do a half portion of any of the pastas). The ravioli is phenomenal. A must try! We split the ribeye and hassle back potato. One of the best ribeyes I've ever had, great flavor and so so tender. I did not like the hassle back potato-the Gorgonzola was way too intense for me. Was here last night with a party of seven. The food was very much delicious. The service was atrocious from the start. We had 5 adults, a 16 year old boy and a 10 year old. We ordered a very nice bottle of wine, two cocktails but the waiter sped off and did not ask any of the non drinking members what they wanted to drink. It took about 10 mins or so for him to come back with the wine and cocktails then we asked for beverages for the other two people in our group. We then ordered. Our 16 year old son was last and ordered the porterhouse - rare. The waiter gave him a hard time and almost mocked him like he didn't know how to order the proper cook on a steak. This is after everyone else at the table ordered rare steaks. It was pretty rude. After that, they forgot to bring out my son's tuna tartare appetizer and the waiter not once filled anyone's wine glasses (we did it ourselves). I shared the tomahawk ribeye for two. They brought it out and never brought plates for us to eat off of. There was not a server to be found to ask for them. Everyone's meal was getting cold while waiting for us to get out plates. At the same time, they also forgot to bring out our creamed spinach and my son's porterhouse was served medium not rare as ordered. For the amount of money you pay to eat here, you expect good service. The only thing saving this place is that the food is good. We will not be back. read more

We went to Dorona, we have not been here before. We ordered from the special Sizzle Week menu which is an incredible deal. The bread service was warm and crusty, good quality. We ordered the gnocchi with meat and sauce and it was quite probably the best ragu style pasta dish I have ever had in Naples, the sauce was rich and spicy and smooth. My wife had the steak and it was cooked perfectly, warm red center, nice blue cheese crust on a bed of mashed potatoes. We also had kale salad and the poutine, the poutine was spectacular, smooth gravy, melted cheese and nicely spiced. We also had the accompanying wine flight which was available in 3 or 6 ounce pours, one wine for each course. The dessert was delicious, marinated sponge cake with blackberries and ice cream and the cinnamon roll with strawberries and cream. Well done Dorona. Dorona is not your father's steakhouse. This is Rome, NYC, Reykjavik! The raised industrial ceilings are softened with live, hanging plants. I'm old enough to remember San Francisco fern bars, so this is amusing but a good addition. A sound wall separates the bar from the greater dining room; I expect that the feature becomes more important as the evening goes on. There are many cuts of beef to order. Also fish, chicken, and duck. I came early evening and enjoyed a tangy brisket stacked with red cabbage slaw. Delicious. I must tell my All Things Italian-obsessed friend that Murano chandeliers are here, adding to the atmosphere. I came on Thursday evening when a keyboardist entertained with riffs of progressive jazz.
