Fantastic Food. Dorsia is located on Federal Hwy/Jeffrey St. in North Boca. Owners Antonia & Rosario were most hospitable. Cesar's service was impeccable. Clean, inviting & quiet space with classic decor, providing inside & outside seating. They have a cocktail bar & nice wine list. We started with refreshing aperol spritzers, and Gavi wine with dinner. Appetizers were frito misto, grilled octopus & buratta, just enough for the 6 of us to open our appetites . Entrees enjoyed...rigatoni with porcini, cream & truffle, paparedelle bolognese, chicken parmigiana, veal dorsia and snapper francaise. Desserts... chocolate martinis & decadent chocolate cake. The chef and his team know their way around the kitchen as the dishes were executed perfectly, presented beautifully and tasted delicious. First of all, Andy, our waiter, was excellent! A real pro, took great care of us. When our pasta came out, we literally STRUCK OIL! Except we asked for very light on the oil. The baked clams were whole, which is always great, but also VERY oily. The caesar was good but not good enough too carry the meal. I live right on Jeffrey Street and my husband and I walked here for dinner one night. The lovely hostess saved us two bar seats during dinner rush, which was amazing. We got to sit and dine at the bar. The bartender was very knowledgeable and helpful. all the waiters are very experienced. This is a very awesome Italian restaurant. The food was spectacular. I would have given this place five stars but my friend Patrick told me nobody went here anymore. Between that and my concern that Soho was becoming too commercial I didn't know what to think anymore. So I gave it a try. As we arrived I was on the verge of tears as I was certain we wouldn't get a decent table. But we did and relief washed over me in an awesome wave. I started off with the peanut butter soup with roast duck and mashed squash. It was a playful, mysterious little dish. Then I had the red snapper with violets and pine nuts, which followed nicely. We had a 6:45 reservation and didn't get our main courses until 8:20. Finished our drinks, glasses were wisked away and we were not asked if we wanted another. When we asked about our food, instead of an explanation, we got an attitude. After we were finished someone from management asked how everything was. Where were they earlier when we were waiting for our food, watching people who came in after us getting theirs? And, instead of apologizing, they (2 of them) were downright nasty to us. We (4 of us) eat out every night and have never been subjected to this lack of service and negative attitude. We will not return! read more

It was July 2nd, 2021 and I called in for a reservation for 2 people at 7:30. To my surprise they were not fully booked, lucky I guess. Upon arrival to this establishment I was on the verge of tears because I was certain we would be sat in a inadequate spot, fortunately we did not. The lady received pasta, as did I. Ambiance and service are 5 star, but unfortunately I feel that DORSIA had gone a bit downhill foodwise I have had better veal at other Italian restaurants. Also, we should not have to ask for pasta sides to be replaced because they are cold.. Another slight quibble, sharing charge !! I rarely give reviews and this might be my first restaurant review. I just have to say I am so pleasantly surprised at how good my take out dinner was. I had been craving Italian and thought I would stop somewhere on the way home. The whole experience from easy parking, to the bartender, to the wait staff to the quick preparation of my meal was on point. But the food! My escarole was exactly how it should be. I could not help myself I stood at the kitchen counter savoring my first bite. The Pappadale Bolognese was excellent. So flavorful and cooked perfectly. A real treat thank you. read more

Easily have driven by a hundred times, made an American Psycho comment, and went on with my life. Without having any expectation, we took a chance and walked in... at 8pm.... on a Friday. Actually didn't have any issues woth a table. While the menu doesn't host a sea urchin ceviche, the Italian cuisine is pretty creative, and well executed. The main drawback here really is the average age of the crowd, we felt pretty out of place, being about 20 years younger than everyone else. For the food, the two things that stood out were the eggplant "meatball" and zucchini blossom. Both were surprisingly good, we cleared the plate. While once a highly touted venue the reality is nobody goes here anymore. Instead, highly recommend Texarkana in the heart of the financial district. Unfortunately, the waiter was a little pushy with the specials and my colleague, Paul Allen, was very distressed to hear that the crawfish cilantro gumbo was out of season. Luckily, the mud soup and charcoal arugula were splendid. Cocktails were blissfully poured and we even sighted Ivanka Trump huddled in the corner. A nice lady welcomed and seated us, our waiter was friendly and made just the right amount of conversation and each time someone delivered something or cleared, they were gracious. The wine list is fine, I was happy with our super tuscan and the octopus appetizer was also very good. The main courses were eh, like below average eh. Pasta overcooked, the sausage was flavorless, everything was very salty and I can go on. Thought about sending mine back, but once you're disappointed, it's hard to recover. My family and I dined here for a celebratory New Years Eve dinner and birthday celebration for my dad who's bday is also on the 31st. To say the experience and quality of the restaurant was less than subpar would be an understatement. We arrived a few minutes early for our reservation and were seated immediately (there were no menus provided and a QR code for the menu is not an option here) only to be ignored for 20 minutes before our waiter acknowledged our table. Granted, we were patient and understanding considering the holiday... For some reason the waiter took my drink order and immediately walked away without bothering to ask the other 5 people in my party if they wanted anything. Once he arrived with my order the rest of the party placed their drink order but then each of their drinks were delivered 1 at a time (only 1 of the 6 drinks were from the bar)... so this was a process in itself. After this fiasco we waited another 15-20 minutes for our waiter to bring the menus. The menus States "the food is made to order, and allow time for your meal to be prepared." This was a major understatement and misrepresentation because there is no way the food served had been freshly prepared. A food runner served my mother her salad and meatball almost immediately (which was ordered as an entree but was brought out as an appetizer) and the rest of us proceeded to wait over an hour and a half for the rest of our meals to be served. The 4 pasta dishes all turned out to be overcooked and bland. The broccoli rabe was more like an oil soup (I literally gagged when I realized that oil was gushing out of the broccoli rabe), the breaded chicken and veal were soggy and tasteless. I could go on, but you get the point.... Our waiter never checked on us after placing our order and was bartending and operating the computer system most of the night, we never received a single refill or checked in on to make sure our meals were ok. I finally caught the waiter's attention after requesting my check three times. I informed him of the disappointment in our meal, and he brought over the owner who couldn't fathom our terrible experience and disappointment. He made me feel like I was the one who had done something wrong! Reluctantly, he comped my meal anyway. I'm not sure what the issue was on this night, but they had 10-12 waiters running around like mad men to serve 20 tables and the kitchen was unacceptably slow. You'd think that with the beautiful interior, the positive reviews, the quality of the individuals who were dining here and the price point of the dishes you'd receive anything better than the experience we had at this extremely overrated establishment. read more

Was invited to dinner with a few friends while visiting the area. So glad they selected Dorsia. My friend and his girlfriend dines her often and he told me how wonderful the service and the food are at Dorsia's, and boy was he right. Warmly greeted at the door and promptly brought to the table were my friend was already waiting. We started out with the fresh Burrata and Prosciutto which was terrific. I had the potato gnocchi alla vodka. Gnocchi was the perfect texture and so light, sauce was one of the best I have had. My friend and the Flounder and he really enjoyed the dish. His girlfriend had a special dish of grilled veggies and she loved the preparation of the dish. We enjoyed excellent service and excellent food. For sure I will be back when I return to the area again. read more

I went to Dorsia with my girlfriend, Courtney. We had an 8:30 res. After I called her on the phone, I told her to wear something fabulous. I ordered her the peanut butter soup with smoked duck and mashed squash. The Boca Raton Matinee called it "a playful but mysterious little dish." I also purchased the red snapper with violets and pine nuts. It followed nicely. When it arrived, I exclaimed to Courtney, "Don't just stare at it, eat it!" Unfortunately, she kept passing out. I told her some caffeine might get her out of this slump. She takes a lot of lithium. The mud soup and charcoal arugula is outrageous. Though, they keep omitting the pork loin with lime Jell-O. Returned to Dorsia despite a "so so" dining experience nearly 2yrs ago... There is no question that I may have assessed Dorsia a bit too harshly based on "our table's" dining experience in that we were surrounded by a 5 star ambience & served by a 5 star staff...As such I was "taken out" by Chris L. who justifiably has great pride in his unquestionably superior "dining emporium".... Also, as an elite reviewer I did not practice my usual belief that you can not always assess a restaurant fairly based on one dining experience or the assessment of your dining partners alone. With these principles in mind...I must upgrade my assessment based upon our 4 1/2 star dining experience last night... We all elected to go with the summer menu for $35.95 which included 3 courses, namely, an appetizer, a salad or soup and and an entree. My criticism of the menu is that I was attracted to every item . ..I finally went with the baked clams over the Zucchini blossoms, which would have earned 5 stars if they were a bit larger. The Chopped wedge salad came with a crisp iceberg lettuce, pancetta,etc . As a main course I thoroughly enjoyed the veal marsala, while my wife gave major 5 star kudos to the Eggplant Rollatini and the "francese" flounder... The 3 course summer menu did not include dessert, thank goodness... I could go on and on but let's just say that Dorsia is a 4 to 5 star restaurant... Once again I must mention the service which if not 5 stars is 6 stars. I can say the same for the ambience. If I could award this restaurant with 4 1/2 stars I would do so.... Then my secretary pops in, I ignored her at first, but just as she was about to leave I popped a question to her if she wanted to accompany me to dinner tonight, if she wasn't doing anything that is. Fortunately she wasn't. She told me we could go anywhere, but I told her to forget about me and think about where she wanted to go. That's when she said it, "Dorsia." Upon a word of mouth recommendation, our family visited this neighborhood restaurant on Federal Highway with an expectation of a positive family outing. Unfortunately we never got to experience the food as the owners were incredible rude and involved themselves in our family conversation without being invited. The hostess/owner was close to our table and overheard a negative comment on the wine selections. Even though the negative comment was not directed to either the hostess/owner or her husband, the comment on the wine drew their ire and they requested us to leave. Not a dining experience that anyone should be exposed to. I cannot comment on the quality of the food, but if you care for an inferior Chianti at an excessive price, this restaurant may appeal to you. read more

I came here after my meeting with Cliff Huxtable at the Four Seasons. I had the pleasure of running into Paul Allen, Timothy Bryce, Van Patten, Marcus Halberstram, and even Luis Carruthers.. (the biggest doofus in the business) I had the red snapper with violets and Pine Nuts. The Boca Raton matinee is calling a mysterious, yet playful little dish. I will actually look forward to trying it out of season as it was very. crowded and super loud ( at least between the hours of 7:30 when we arrived until about 8:15 or so). Our server, Fernando was terrific. Friendly, professional and efficient. My meal was fabulous. Had the eggplant meatball & short ribs. The meat was super moist and juicy. I tasted my friends oear & blue cheese & that was fantastic too. My husband got octopus starter and enjoyed it but thought the portion was too small. I celebrated my 54th birthday there last night. I was clearly the youngest person in the place. From an ambiance standpoint, this place is stuck in the 80's...and clearly so is the menu. It was really hilarious that they have their own dedicated parking lot, which at most is probably 30 feet by 30 feet..yet they have a valet!??? He actually had to walk further from his valet stand to meet the car, than he did from where our car was parked (10 feet from the door) to the door. It is really a funny sight in such a microscopic parking lot. We were brusquely greeted by the "hostess" when we arrived at 5:30 to an empty restaurant. "It will be full in an hour" she quipped. So our party got to sit in a hot empty dark restaurant listening to someone pound veal in the back (I hope that's what it was) and the waiters talk and stand around doing nothing. We brought some sparkling wine and asked for it to be chilled in a wine bucket...they have none. They served the water in some refrigerated grolsh bottles...when we asked for ice for our water, that's what the waiter brought...I cup with ice. The menu is dated, unimaginative and unexciting by todays standards. The usual fare you would expect from a typical old school continental/Italian restaurant. I ordered the grilled romaine salad..something I have enjoyed in other restaurants, and have made at home...what I got was a plate of soggy boiled lettuce, that was grilled and then slathered with a balsamic reduction so acidic my first taste made me choke. Honestly, it was like eating limp watery bok choy, not a crisp wedge of romaine that when properly grilled (not boiled) takes on an amazingly sweet char flavor. My entrée was no better. The papardelle with porcini mushrooms was a major disappointment...clearly rehydrated dried mushrooms were chewy and floating in a watery tomato sauce. No seasoning, no flavor, no al dente pasta. My son ordered sweet potato gnocci with sage. The dish was so loaded with chopped and whole sage leaves and floating in oil, the gnocci were inedible. A stuffed chicken breast was dry and overcooked, and the fried oyster appetizer tasted horribly..no crunch, no sweet oyster taste, but a fishy, mushy fried globule. It became apparent to me that this place is stuck in a time warp. Like many a PBC continental restaurant, it's patrons are not looking for food excellence. Rather a nice comfortable place where they can hold on to the feeling of the old days. No doubt the place is filled with the same old regulars who have likely been coming for some time, have no expectations regarding food quality or service. With so many new and exciting places opening in Boca and PBC, why anyone (under 60) would patronize this place is beyond me. read more
