Dos Charros Horrible. Horrible & nasty employee. Order a $40 dollar mean and receive the wrong order which the order I received was $11 dollars. So I wanted to get my money back but this rude lady cuss me out, wasn't giving me my 6ft very aggressive very nasty. How many times she stuck her hand in my face. I told her that my son is sick and I shouldn't have to drive up here to get the correct order when she made a mistake, she told me to take care of my kid. her hands in my face off and on she was going crazy. It was my first time ordering here and I will never do it again. Very disgusted of this lady. The only reason why I asked for my money back was because I received the wrong order and I had to drive back up there to get my order corrected and this lady went crazy on me. Nasty but got money back, what really hurt my feelings was I work hard every day and to sit here and have a two-year-old that is sick and I had to drive up there with him in my vehicle and this is how this lady talk to me. I ordered lunch from here , very disappointing! I ordered the flautas plate. The portions are tiny. The rice is old and reheated , the beans are ok and The flautas are terrible! I think they're the frozen kind. They look and literally taste like the frozen taquitos you get in the frozen aisle. The don't offer much to drink for non soda drinkers either. We have all heard the old saying that you find the best food in "hole in the wall" places...Well this place plays right into that phrase. Upon entering it is a pretty unassuming place. Everything is adequate, but yet nothing over the top, at least until you try the food. The chips and salsa are love at first bite, and then it only gets better from there! This being my first visit, I stayed on the cautionary and more mainstream side of the menu and ordered the Fajita Nachos, specifically ordering a half beef fajita and half chicken fajita serving. The food was wonderful! The steak and the chicken were perfectly grilled and wonderfully flavored. The service was excellent, very friendly and super efficient. We waited no more than five minutes for our food and I don't think I ever had more than 2 or 3 drinks of my water before it was refilled. In a world where food quality is going down and service out the window, this place restored my faith in eating out... I can't wait to return and be a bit more adventurous on the menu! read more

Went here with some friends for dinner. The place was not packed at all for dinner. I started with their Queso Bowl $6.25 which was completely flavorless. Their salsa was okay and I mixed them together to give it some zing. I had the Charro Ribeye Steak $16.95 which was just okay, it was kind of tough but okay on flavor. We had great service but with so many better options I won't be back anytime soon. read more

It's fine. The salsa wasn't very good. I remember this place being really good and a really good deal but now it's just blah. Some of the plates only come with rice now which I think is kind of sneaky. When I didn't get any beans I asked the waitress and she said, "It doesn't come with beans , do you want me to show you the menu?" PLEASE call the health department. I never leave reviews but this needs to be shared. We ordered tonight from postmates. Have a sick baby and just needed food fast after being up for two days straight. Well, now I feel so sick to my stomach I have lost all appetite. When it arrived I served my toddler her tacos first and got distracted and didn't open the rest. Well about halfway into a taco she yells there is a yucky black hair! Wait, gets worse, I take her food away and begin to open the other boxes to see if it looks edible or I should trash it all. Thinking ok one stray hair is gross but it could happen right?! Well I open the salsa and WTF is this?! MOLD?! I just hope our toddler doesn't get food poisoning on top of our 5 mo old who is already sick and not sleeping. I will review what I ate and I am also not a Super Tex-Mex fan. Salsa - Bland, but hot with a tomato paste texture. Chicken Avocado Enchiladas - The guacamole inside (I was hoping for whole avocados slices) did not taste fresh. I don't know if it was from a bucket or maybe just made earlier. Chicken - The chicken chunks that were sprinkled on top was decent. Re-fried Beans - The beans were OK but bland. Rice - Also bland almost taste like instant rice. Went back and took my hubby this time. My friend raved about their enchiladas del mar the last time so that's what I had this time. It was on special so I thought why not. I added a flauta to my order because I am still on my quest to find the best flautas in the metroplex. The enchiladas tasted so light even though it was covered in sour cream sauce. The shrimp and crabmeat was flavorful and I was not disappointed. I can see why my friend liked this entree. The entree came with a side salad with a vinagrette style dressing and rice, no beans. Although I did miss the beans. My hubby had the combination plate which included two enchiladas and a crispy beef taco with a side of rice and beans. I didn't taste his entree but he finished everything off his plate. He scraped all the rice and beans off that plate. He is not a fan of Mexican food like I am. So that tells me that he enjoyed his food a lot! They don't have any spicy sauces but they did give us the option of jalepenos (fresh or pickled) on the side. We opted for the fresh jalepenos because they usually are more spicy. We spent $15 for the both of our meals today. Great! I am going to have to come by for brunch on Sunday to try out their buffet. read more

Nice little hole in the wall Tex-Mex place with a good menu. There are daily specials that are also worth giving a try. Lunch also have a buffet that doesn't have too much variety, but has the basics and do them well. During the week is better, so that there is always a stream of hot and fresh food coming out to the buffet The chips left a little to be desired, but they have some pretty good spicy queso that they will cover their enchiladas with. I just started going back to Dos Charros a few months ago. There were a couple of years where the food and service was kind of bad. I would order their fajitas for carryout and there was always a funky smell so I decided not to go back. Well, after coming back a few months ago, I can say that the food and service has really improved. I can't make any comments on the dining experience since I only order carry out, but my food has been excellent every single time since returning. The fajitas are great (I'm eating them as I type this) and I love their spicy combo fajitas with beef, chicken and shrimp. They also offer a number of delicious seafood dishes like Quesadillas Del Mar, Lobster Enchiladas, Red Snapper, etc. Another reviewer mentioned the older customers that come and eat here. Not sure why that would be a problem unless you are afraid of old people. They have probably been eating here since Dos Charros first opened their doors. I come to Dos Charros for the food and the great reputation they have had over the years. Dos Charros has been a part of the Richardson community for a very long time and I'm sure they will be here for decades to come. read more

Portions are small compared to the prices. Very small portions of rice and beans. It feels like you're being nickel and dimed if you ask for a small extra of something, like jalapeños or an extra cup of salsa, they'll most likely will charge. Especially to-go. It's quantity over quality. read more

This place has ok food. If you are looking for more authentic mexican food then this is not the place as must of their food is Tex-Mex. If you are looking to get spicy food, homemade tortillas and a variety of drinks besides soda from the machine then you might want to skip this place as it lacks the authenticity of a Mexican restaurant. The only reason I'm giving this place 3 stars instead of 2 or 1 is because the service was great, they are really nice hardworking people, and the food well like I mentioned it's ok if all you are looking for is to have a quick lunch. read more

This place is a hole in the wall and easy to miss, but the food is good, the service is fas t & friendly and the prices are very reasonable. A few of us girls go from work 1-2 times a week. I had a reservation for 15 last sunday......(sunday buffet is 11-2pm) we arrive toward the end knowing we're going to order...they had the tables already prepared when we arrived...the owner/manager greeted us then the waiter sitted us right away then took our drink orders (everyone had atleast 1 alcoholic + non-alcoholic drink) the service was quick and refill speed really fast. they brought out water/soda/drinks while we're still chatting and fresh salsa and chips we ordered beef fajita for two, some others ordered the carne asada dish and some ordered their ribeye steak etc. etc. the food came out when we're about half way done with our first drink...and the portion was wonderfully large and everything was fresh and tastefully made. we had a wonderful time eating, chatting, and watching the Cowboy's season coming to the end being destroyed by Farve and the Vikings. then the waiter provided me and my wife free dessert b/c we told them we just got married~ the total came out to be $250ish for all the food + drinks which I tipped 20% on top b/c of their great and friendly service~ this place is definitely great for quick bite, buffet, family gathering etc. and the price is well balanced with portion ... we will definitely go back soon~ read more

Yelp has failed us...it doesn't happen often but, none the less, it has happened. We tried this place out based on Yelp reviews and were grossly disappointed. The only reason they should get any stars is for the friendly wait staff. My husband and I are huge Mexican/Tex Mex food advocates, I myself could eat it daily. First of all, the staple of any good Mexican restaurant are chips, hot sauce and tortillas. The chips were nothing special and most were over fried and oily, the hot sauce was very generic and disappointing. The tortillas are not made fresh and as this used to not be a must for me, it is now because of the increasing number of restaurants that do this. A freshly made tortilla is just heaven with butter and queso and speaking of queso; it was runny, lacking flavor and just generally did not taste like cheese at all. Onto the entres, I had the Tex Mex combo that came with a chicken enchilada with spicy queso sauce, a beef enchilada with carne sauce, beef hard taco and rice and beans. The enchiladas were just okay and the sauces, although better than the queso, were still bland and just lacking flavor. The beef taco was fine and would have been good if it weren't for the shell, it was tremendously over fried and with every bite I had an over whelming flavor of oil. It was just gross. My husband had the beef fajitas and I have to say they were the most pathetic looking fajitas I've ever encountered! The meat was low quality, very low in quantity and were so thinly sliced you had to load up your tortillas to have anything to bite into. They were cooked well done and for the thickness of the meat this made for very dry and overcooked fajitas. I noticed that a lot of the customers dining had been there many times before and were friendly with the staff. I just don't get it. The food was terrible! As for the atmosphere...very dimly lit, almost too dim and there was no music which was weird and not relaxing at all. The lack of music also makes the buzz and background noise of the other customers loud and annoying. The decor was old and out dated and although that is not among the most important things, it definitely does not fall into the 4 star rating that this place currently has. I don't intend for this to sound mean I just felt like the ratings on here were very misleading and thought I could offer a different perspective. My hope is the owner's will take this constructively and improve upon their business and if not they seem to have a loyal following as it is but it just won't include me. read more

5-stars is setting the bar high, but I do think based on the food and service, they deserve a solid 4 1/2 stars. Always packed on the weekends and often quite busy on weekday evenings, Dos Charros will please even the most discriminating Tex-Mex connoisseur. In my opinion, you'll be very hard pressed to find better Mexican food for the same price in the area. Whenever you go to eat at the 'Charros,' try not to fill up on the chips and salsa prior to getting your main entree. I don't know what drug they put in the salsa there, but it's to die for! It's got to be my favorite salsa from any restaurant in the DFW area. Bold claim, I know, but it's that good. I recommend anything with the tequila cream (or just "cream") sauce on it. Very bueno stuff. My favorite is the enchiladas del mar plate (seafood enchiladas that contain shrimp and crab), especially when they're on special. My other recommendations include the chicken nachos (shredded, not fajita style) - beware, they will squirt juice on you if you aren't careful - and anything with fajita meat. If you do get fajitas or a dish with fajita meat, make sure you get it "blackened" or "spicy" (same thing) style for some extra kick! Margaritas are good but unpredictable. Sometimes they come watered down, and sometimes they come strong. You can never tell. They are good, however, any time they have a happy hour special going. One last piece of advice: if the non-smoking section is full, even if you don't like smoke, go for a seat in the spacious smoking section. You'll have plenty of room, little of the hubbub, and likely not be anywhere near any smokers. Many non-smoking diners, including myself, retreat to this area to get away from feeling crowded or to escape the noise of the non-smoking section. read more

As someone who lived in San Antonio for 5 years, I enjoy discovering a great "hole in the wall" Mexican restaurant and Dos Charros is one of them. I know they have multiple locations but this place is definitely a hidden gem! During lunch you can see "good ole boys," men in business suits, and everyday people here. The lunch menu has quite the selection and the tacos are yummy!!! And I could make a meal out of the chips and salsa. Also the waiters are probably some of the best around. You can get in and out in about 30 minutes during lunch time! Be sure to check this place out if you're ever in Richardson or close to some of their other locations. read more

This is my second favorite Tex-Mex restaurant in the DFW. Every dish here is solidly good, in my experience. I prefer the entrees over the buffet though. Service is friendly and attentive. The restaurant is very casual, come here for a good quick dinner, not date night. (unless your date just really loves good tex-mex) Live music from a guy with a guitar walking through the restaurant and serenading as he goes! Fantastic! He did a Beatles song at my Uncle's request. Small little Mexican joint, somewhere in Richardson - Total Hidden Gem! I got the avocado enchiladas. I had never heard of these before... sounded interesting... tasted even better! Pretty much guacamole inside tortillas with fajita style chicken on top with salsa. Very fresh and flavorful. I loved it! This is a family owned spot. My friends go there all the time and knew all of the staff. Everyone stopped by to say hello and check on us.. and even to share Halloween pictures with us. The service was great. A craving for a Mexican lunch after church Sunday led us to Dos Charros. We didn't know they had a buffet, Sunday only, so we decided to try it! They had everything! Tacos, chicken fajitas, a seriously HUGE tub of hot queso, guacamole, enchaladas and even little sopapillas for dessert. I couldn't think of anything they didn't' have! I'm a huge queso fan so anyplace with an unlimited supply...count me in! The buffet itself was around $11 each. Not bad for all that food! It's only for lunch, from 11-2 I believe. Out booth was kind of dirty when we were seated and the restaurant was not very busy. I think they could have taken the time to tidy up a bit. All in all, I'd go again. read more
