My family and I invited Missionaries from Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to dine at your restaurant on Folsom Blvd. Friday, February 13 ,2026. Everyone enjoyed a lovely time with the atmosphere being friendly and welcoming along with the dinners ordered being fresh and flavorful. There were no leftovers ! The serve your own salsa bar was appetizing and varied. Although the employees that assisted us were courteous and cheerful, there was one employee who stood out that I particularly admired . His name is Victor. As soon as Victor heard I had a party of seven, he instantly hastened to accommodate us by arranging three tables together for our comfort. Then, as a server, he was fast paced, efficient, and exceptionally helpful. Victor's job performance was over the top as he was both charming and skillful. I have worked with the public all my life and it was a joy to see Victor take such successful efforts for our needs to be met. read more

Dos Coyotes has always been on point over the years, but I've only had their salads, which pretty much rock. Tonight I switched it up and ordered a cheese enchilada and a chicken taco. The plate arrived with a mound of chips over the rice. I'll need to remember to order them on the side if I return. The sauce on the enchilada was really sweet and I only ate half. Same went with the taco. I ate about half but the chicken was super dry and all I could really taste was an overpowering, smokey flavor. The received beans were fairly dry and the rice had corn in it (I've never been a fan). The salsas offered were really good, although if they're going to provide chips with the meal, why not just give out in a little basket of them before the meal? I mean, there's a salsa bar...why not keep it standard as most Mexican restaurants do? One thing that was irritating was the small water glass they handed out, rather than the tall ones. It's self service drinks and I had to get up to refill a couple times, which as a single diner meant gathering all of my things to walk across the crowded lobby just to refill my beverage. Probably wouldn't have been a thing if there had been a closer table, but that wasn't the case. Also, management might want to talk to their young staff who prepare food and work the front counter because their interaction with customers left little to be desired. I went to Dos Coyotes for the first time yesterday (07/06/24) for an early dinner and it was suboptimal from food, service to ambience. It was originally pretty dead and picked up later. The associate at the front counter taking orders was super unpleasant, the food that came out was subpar to say the least and the establishment was ridiculously hot. I ordered a fajita salad with chicken, no tortilla, and what was service was a bed of massive vegetables not listed on the menu when ordering that were charred and I attempted to cut up these 1/2 onion chunks with a butter knife. I won't be going back because there are many great Mexican food options in the region and this experience seemed like a driven leader needs to be running the place to address service, consistency, cleanliness and everything in between. read more

Coworkers and I walked over to the Cafe for Lunch and sat outside. The inside was very warm in a t-shirt. There is plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. When you ask for a burrito bowl you have be specific, otherwise you get a burrito with a tortilla. I ordered the Nachos. They were good. I just don't understand why you add corn to nachos. * Good selection of salsas, but they need to get better serving spoons! ** I asked for water and they gave me a glass with ice from the checking area vault versus letting me get a Togo cup to use with the water/soda dispenser machine. We love Dos Coyotes for lunch, especially after a bike ride on the trail. They have plenty of seating inside plus a beautiful little outdoor patio. I love their huge salads, especially the Adobe Salad. They don't skimp on the guacamole and I love the crunchy bites of jicama throughout. Tacos and burritos are always good too. They have delicious carnitas and chicken and the tortillas always taste fresh. Definitely check out the daily specials too - last time my husband had a road runner sandwich (not roadrunner, chicken) and I thought he was crazy to get a sandwich at Dos but he said it was outstanding and it came with yummy chips. The salsa bar is closed due to COVID but they will give you whatever salsa you like at the bar. Staff is always friendly and helpful and keeps us coming back. read more

We had dinner this restaurant and came away unimpressed. A good example of poor inattentive store management is cleanliness. Looking up to the ceiling return air vents ....it was a grease caked mess. Why management doesn't care to keep the place spotless is beyond us. Get a ladder and do a thorough cleaning of all air vents. The place has been open about 30 years and its decor looks like a restaurant out of another era. Needs a remodel badly along with that thorough cleaning. No lack of labor here, about eight young men were just hanging out in the kitchen. Each had long hair not well kept and no hair coverings. My favorite dish is the Coyote Bowl. Today I got the Mahi Mahi with just lettuce with pico de gallo cause of my new keto lifestyle. The cashier was very friendly and was attentive to my diet restrictions. The atmosphere was casual You have the option of eating inside or outside. It took a while to get my order about 20 minutes. My friend had already finished her dinner by the time I had gotten mine. I had to ask that Pastor if he could check on my order. He said that it was taking a while because of the mahi-mahi needed to be cooked. It was that nice clean restaurant and food was mediocre but edible. read more

This went from being a bad experience to me going to the Elk Grove location every month. The food is always fresh and the service is quick. I call in my order and by the time I show up my order is always ready. This is a great location to sit outside and eat. I am just normally on the go when I eat here. read more

Sadly, a second visit has only lowered my opinion of this particular Dos Coyotes. My meal started out well enough. My salad was delivered expeditiously and met the taste and freshness standards I've come to love in all Dos Coyotes restaurants. Things unfortunately went downhill from there. My table was very sticky and had hair on it so I asked a passing busser to wipe it down, which he did, but not without lazily grazing my plate several times as he moved it. Nevertheless, the hair remained, giving me an unappetizing view while chowing down. The wipe down left the table very wet, so I went to the napkin dispenser for napkins to clean up and found both dispensers empty and a loose bag of napkins that looked like it had been torn apart by wolves. In general, it never seems like they are prepared for the very predictable huge lunch crowds they see daily. It's a testament to the popularity of their menu. Personally, I'd much rather eat at the East Sacramento location - higher rated, much better quality of service. read more

Dos Coyotes has been a legit place to visit for at least the past 10+ years since I've visited them, across their different locations. We were in the area over the weekend and decided to stop by here to grab a bite to eat. My husband ordered their fajita burrito, which is a seasonal special. It was stuffed with sautéed summer squash, bell peppers, onions, rice, guacamole, cheese, and smoked chile cream. it also came with a chicken and seafood option, which my husband didn't get. We ordered our kids cheese quesadillas off of their kid's menu. We decided to sit outside and I have to say, the outdoor seating is beautiful. It kind of looks like a jungle with all the trees and greenery back there. It's peaceful and pretty. The food came out relatively quickly; they bring it to your table. My husband's burrito was pretty big and came with a side of house made tortilla chips. The kids' plates consisted of three pieces of cheese quesadillas, three wedges of orange slices, a few dollops of sour cream, and shredded lettuce. The total came out to $22, which wasn't bad for lunch for three people. Everyone enjoyed and finished their food. When you have kids, any place you eat at where they enjoy the food and don't complain is a major plus, since kids, especially younger ones, can be so picky with their simple palates. I really dig Dos Coyotes. Their food is consistently good and their prices won't burn a hole in your pocket. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. The food here is atrocious... I gave this place a last ditch effort to see if it was just as bad as a year before and shockingly it's worse! The food lacks FLAVOR & QUALITY... Mexican food has flavor.. I'm just not sure what to make of this place, overly salty, overly cooked, super greasy (dripping with oil) and overly deep fried. Upon entering, I noticed lots of available seats but most of them were dirty with no one in sight to clean them (until asked). I had to flag someone down to help clean the only four top table available. It was wiped down but still soaking wet, so I used the disposable napkins to pat dry the table myself (a moms task I thought I could get a break from tonight... was I wrong ha). Our table was sticky, food caked on chairs, just overall gross. You can tell there wasn't a dedicated busser or even a manager in sight. To sum it up!! Working in F&B for 15 years I can say one thing that rings true every time - the cleanliness of the restaurant (including the bathroom) is a HUGE indication of how clean / hygienic the staff is at handling your food. I would HIGHLY steer clear of this "dining" establishment unless you're the type of person to learn lessons the hard way ha! Honestly, anything would be a step up from this place. Love the indoor & outdoor seating! The food is always fresh & I love the array of salsa choices!! Ive tried many dishes and the Shrimp Tacos are by far the best!! Also, always look for seasonal items!! They are unique but definitely worth the try if you don't have any dietary restrictions!! This location has been here a long time, and after 15 years in Folsom I finally decided to try it....boy, what a huge mistake that was. I ordered Fajita Chicken salad because I thought it would be a safe choice, how can anyone screw up a salad? Well..this place takes the cake. I deconstructed it and found six tiny slices of chicken, two half slices of bell pepper, quarter of an onion and a jalapeno? Nothing even close to what fajitas are.(picture uploaded) Then..I find that they were lazy and cut only half of the lettuce.. leaving half the salad as whole leaves of romaine. And you dare to forget avocado that is supposed to come in it? That's where I draw the line. Seriously..I don't know how this place is still in business. I have been going to this restaurant for yrs now. Our food of choice is the oriental salad called ying Yang. At first and for awhile the portions were generous and and we were happy. Now this Dos Coyote has cut back on their portions at half of what they were and cut back on ingredients. Now this last time we came in they informed us that the extra dressing we asked for now is going to cost us. WHAT? Its getting ridiculous whats happening here. I went to Roseville Dos Coyote and had none of these problems there. Whoever is in charge here is cutting their own throat. I'm a big fan of Dos. Introduced to this place during college days, I'm so glad they have branched out from Davis! My favorite is their tostada with anasazi beans. And their salsa bar -- wow. Talk about liquid manna. I could drink that stuff up like gazpacho on a hot Spanish afternoon. One gripe is their soft drink machine. One machine, one spout - many combinations. So many in fact, that it creates a backlog of thirsty patrons who wait to get their chance to push a button to create the ultimate soft drink. Problem is that if you want plain ol' water, you also have to wait your turn in the high fructose corn syrup beverage line. Although it's right off busy Folsom Blvd, their patio area is pleasant enough. You can ride your bike this way from the bike trail if you know which exit to take. I would frequent Dos Coyotes for the flavorful steak meat and the green salsa that was sweet and had a little heat kick to it that was to die for, it was so good I couldn't eat my steak burrito without it. Anyway, I saw DC near the freeway on my way home and had to stop. I was excited and my mouth was set for that burrito but it didn't give what it was suppose to gave. I remember going to Dos when I was in college. It's pretty decent Tex-Mex food. They have some interesting things on their menu. I love the burritos! The lines can seem very long during lunch, but it moves pretty quickly. The food comes out promptly as well. The only probably they may have is not enough space during busy times. My only wish is that one day they'll offer unlimited tortilla chips like most of the authentic Mexican taquerias do. Can't be that expensive to offer, right? read more

With covid cases skyrocketing in our area, especially with restaurant closures due to staff getting sick, you'd think this restaurant would enforce the no-mask rule. You thought wrong. My family comes in to three individuals without masks, waiting inside. The staff says nothing. We then inquire about it, and ask the staff why they're being allowed to order inside. The staff then asked us if we were uncomfortable. Yes, we were. They then did nothing about it. They were not asked to leave. So we walked out. I'm aware that mask enforcement is required, and businesses will be fined for not enforcing this rule. We'll be inquiring with the county. Do not eat/order food from here. They're opening themselves up to become an exposure hot spot. read more

I ordered the green Chile chicken enchiladas ($11.95). The green Chile sauce was fire-type spicy...pretty sure they added more pepper varieties to the sauce than a classic New Mexican hatch green Chile. Tasted raw, too. Ew. About 1/8 cup of chicken was present in two folded flour tortillas. Folded in half. With, granted, lots of cheese. Lord help me. Flour tortillas. I grew up in Tex-mex country, so honey, these folks do not know what they are doing. Enchiladas are made with corn tortillas. Just NO. Rice as a side was white and had corn and diced peppers. No sauce. Refried beans were the best item on the plate and with a few tortilla chips that and the rice made my meal, along with a few scraps of chicken and a few shreds of lettuce as garnish. Hair in my shrimp burrito! Just ordered Dos Coyotes for the family dinner. My wife and I have been going to Dos Coyotes since college in the 90s dating back to UC Davis. We always love the shrimp burritos and all of the other food. Tonight, however, was a different story. Ate about 3/4 of my shrimp burrito and pulled a long what appeared to be blonde hair out of the burrito. Ended up throwing the rest of it away. Because of our loyalty to Dos, I decided to call and speak with a manager on duty. I wasn't going to ask for my money back, but rather just use it as a coaching opportunity for their staff.
