This is not better than chipotle. But the black beans were yum yum. We tried the carnitas burrito. The pork wasn't fatty or salty enough. This isn't bad if you want to be healthy, but if I wanted to be healthy I would get veggies or chicken. This is also definitely NOT California Mexican food. read more

Chicken quesadilla- not quite healthy, but so delicious Yummy. It is very similar to chipottle mexican grill, but definitely there are limited ingredients (not as much as in chipottle) to choose from. Ingredients are claimed to be organic, taste good. I wish it was bigger, and also I wish they closed their giant windows and door in summer heat, because it gets really hot in there. Not sure why so many people are mad- this place is a good, generic Mexican food chain! Think Chipotle but more fresh and depth of flavor. I had two veggie tacos with corn tortillas, the corn tortillas are super tasty and fresh. Gave me lots of guacamole and multiple salsas on the side. The verde salsa is tasty and they are not joking when they say the habanero one is hot! It has a great flavor but even for someone who douses hot sauce on everything, it has a lasting kick. Not bad but not great either. Got the vegetarian burrito bowl (veggies rice and beans) I added sour cream, all the hot sauces (mild, medium, hot) lettuce, pico, corn, peppers onions. Ummm i hate putting a bad name on anything, but I'm here trying to find some answers. Monday, i went to get a salad, i never get meat, so i had mix greens, black beans, *new house veggies mix??* and usual cheese guac sour creme. I have legit had bubble guts *gross* for FOUR DAYS bruh. Throwing up and out. Most horrible days. Had to miss work. My stomach was legit alive, moving and talking. Idk what was in the house veggies. But that's the only thing i can think of that went wrong. It was FULL, so looked like i was the only one to try it, at like 6pm. It tasted off. Made the whole salad have a weird after taste. But i spent 11$, and ate it. I've eaten here before, because it's close to work. It's not terrible, had some minor stomach issues, as always after eating burritos. I had a vegetarian burrito here. It wasn't anything to be amazed at to be honest. it is better than some other places I've been to NY for a burrito. I would have liked them to pressed my tortilla a bit more. I didn't like how it was so soft and moist. Overall I found the burrito bland. I have met the owner at a SF Bar in NY. He was talking to my friend and admitted that he can't make the burritos as good as California. Later that night I saw him eating a Taco Bell taco. Dos Toros is in Brooklyn, they're in Williamsburg, in Brooklyn and I am so excited to have them this side of the river. People say if you aren't from California you aren't a good judge of a burrito but I'm going to go ahead and be the judge of this and say they are the best burritos in NYC. Or at least of the ones I've had. I personally get the platos, no wrap, and tell them to go light on my rice so I can add extra meat. I like to cut straight to the good stuff. I think it's like $2 for the extra meat and it's basically a whole extra serving. They also let me get both carnitas and steak last time, it kind of blew my mind. Like waaaaayyyy back. If you're standing next to the Stephen Curry Fathead, you're already in the store and if you're already in the store, there's no backing out. Steph is your Virgil and the Divine Dos Toros Comedy has already begun. I'm in a weird place by the time the server asks me for the third time what I would like. They always smile. I smile too. I can't let them know that I know what they're actually up to. They move so fast behind the counter, wielding their giant spoons like deadly assassins, dripping perfect amount of sour cream over the tall layers of pinto beans, chicken, shredded cheese and tomatoes. Like a delicious green grenade, the guacamole splatters on top of everything, and with minimal eye contact I whisper, "thank you". At the register, they smile more. I smile again. Helpless, I hand over my debit card and pay for my bowl of perfection. On my way out I take a last look at Steph. He's on my right, his hairless body perpetually midstride. Perhaps he's running away from Dos Toros, warning us all of our impending doom. I look back at the servers, they wave and tell me to have a nice evening. Came in to order 2 burritos all I got was 1. Place is no good. The spanish ladies working were nice. The black chick that took over did have an attitude and she was rushing my order to get me out which was really unprofessional. I couldnt even order a second burrito. Which I'm glad i didnt waste more of my money. However, food was meh. Was flavorless and bland. Portion sizes are ridiculously small compared to the pictures that the company posts. Granted I think this spot will be jammed with business no matter what, but really, how do so many ingredients amount to so little flavor? I had the carnitas, which was definitely tender, but pass the salt please. Rice, bland, beans, bland. And something with the flour tortilla...it was...gooey, flour-ey, chewy, strange. I grew up in CA, Los Angeles, most definitely home of Mexican cuisine, but never expect much from NY Mexican. Alas, this was another disappointment. This is nothing like a burrito you'll ever find in the Bay Area. I knew it was heartbreak as soon as I saw my server slap two slices of cold cheese squares on my tortilla. Then he piled it with tasteless rice, salsa, and other forgettable toppings. There was nothing tasty or particularly fresh about the ingredients, and everything was kind of lukewarm and sad. To its credit I was full by the end but just so sad that this burrito chain claims to be from the Bay. I've been meaning to drop a review for this place. This is my 3rd time within a 2 week period. One of my coworkers told me about this place that I had no idea existed. I walk pass this store nearly everyday on my way to and from work. It's rather easy to just pass this place and not know you passed it. It blends in with all the many stores on this block. If you're craving some chipotle but can't get to one and you're near here definitely drop in. Servings are not that big and the seating in this place isn't all that great but I'd recommend this place over and over. Staff is great. Haven't had a bad experience yet. They're all really sweet. There aren't many choices on the menu. Plato which is a burrito bowl with your choice of meat steak, chicken, or beef. Black or pinto beans no rice choices only one rice option. read more

Especially if I'm sober, in which case they tend to trigger a serious wave of homesickness and depression in addition to the dissappointment of the shitty burrito. Yummy goodness! After finding out that the Meatball shop has pork in all their "meat" balls, including the meat and chicken balls (wtf?) this non-pork eater and his GF came to Dos Toros. It is a lot like a Chipotle, which is both good and bad - except that I actually like Chipotle. Of course, Dos Toros is better than Chipotle. It's not a true San Fran-Mission style burrito, fine, but it is still very good - solid meat, good cheese, really good guac, all in all a winning deal. It's a reasonable price, a nice and clean restaurant. I've gotten burritos from many places, including a few food trucks and other restaurants at similar prices, and Dos Toros was a bit better to much better than most. Dos Toros Taqueria = Chipotle Knockoff Hey... don't get me wrong... I love Chipotle just as much as the next guy, but I do enjoy their food better. They have the same line up and practically the same ingredients as them, for the most part. I ordered a chicken burrito and was a little disturbed that they already put sliced cheese in the tortilla. I tried ordering shredded cheese instead, but that apparently was extra. I would rather have the option between a slice and shredded cheese, personally. I also got an order of chips and salsa on the side. The chips were good (not too salty or oily) and I loved their salsa (aka pico de gallo). I will say this... the staff at Dos Toros is way friendlier than most Chipotle employees. They actually took the time to listen to my order. I came here for the $1 deal they had for the opening day and the line wasn't as long as I expected to get in. The decor was clean looking and well done, and they had a bit of seating, maybe 4-5 tables and space for about 15 people to wait in line. This is my first time ever having Dos Toros but I did notice that they had other locations in the city. I was expecting the food to be like Chipotle, but it was surprisingly more "authentic" tasting, and I think they gave consideration to the quality of the ingredients. I did ask for shredded cheese on my burrito and one of the staff looked at me like I was crazy (I like cheesy burritos, okay?!) but overall the people working here were really nice and seemed excited for the first day. I also noticed that the prices were lower than an average Chipotle in the city, so that's a plus too. read more

Let me start with their burritos - they are very good - on par with Chipotle, but they have their differences. Dos Toros melts their cheese into the tortilla before adding meat, toppings, etc. I like this better than the typical shredded cheese at Chipotle. Now the reason for only two stars - Two out of the last three trips have been disasters. Their management is obviously either not experienced or they aren't managing properly. Both times, they ran out of key ingredients - rice and then chicken! How does a fast food type Mexican restaurant run out of rice and chicken?? And to make things worse, the first time was a Sat night around 7pm and the second time was around 6pm on a Thursday. You would think that due to the inconvenience of waiting around 10-15 extra minutes, they would offer extra meat, guacamole, chips, or SOMETHING? Nope. They did not offer anything besides extra shredded lettuce when they ran out of rice. Again, the burritos are good, but if management is reading this, PLEASE get your act together or you will lose a very frequent customer. read more

This place bites Chipotle's style, with polished steel, a menu of meats above the counter, and prices that don't make sense before adding tax. I know it's a mini-chain but I'd managed to not stop by until a recent Sunday afternoon on Bedford Avenue. Coming in with no expectations, I can say this is an alright burrito. Why there are now four locations, I can't say but it's probably a factor of deep-pocketed investors or a savvy marketing strategy rather than an exemplary product. The carne asada I sampled was totally adequate, but I can't imagine telling a friend that they HAD to make to a location and sample it right away. I actually added of my list of places to review after visiting and saw it slipping further and further to the back. There just isn't that much to say. This place is a cheap taco knock off of Mexican restaurants and chipotle(which I am not a fan of). I came here to get a burrito and the food was terrible and had no flavor. When I ordered the nacho chips they were really salty as well. Later after eating the food it didn't sit well with my stomach so something is Wrong with the food here. Wow, this was bad. First, it's basically Chipotle. I didn't know this walking in, but fine. Chipotle is ok. Well, now I realize at least at this location any Chipotle is better. It's a tiny area to work with so while you are standing in line trying to order, someone is literally next to you, arm touching arm, ordering and talking to another server. Then, I happen to be ordering for my daughter and me. It's OBVIOUS. She's standing right in front of me explaining what she wants. The servers are actually ignoring her, & two of them, standing next to each other, are talking in unison to me asking different questions. The cashier never asked if we wanted drinks before she gave me a total. Finally, my burrito bowl was dry. I got everything except sour cream. I got hot sauce, guacamole. Whatever. Gross. Oh, & no bathroom. Don't care if you are a small establishment. You have multiple locations. You had enough money to find room for a restroom. If you serve beans or coffee, no matter what you should have a bathroom. Won't be back. read more

All right, when you go here, GET A BURRITO. I got the shredded chicken burrito and it was awesome. Yes the price may be a little on the high side (believe mine was in the high 7, low 8 range somewhere) but the amount of food you get kind of justifies it. Good portion. It was one of the best burritos I've had in my life. I don't know what the hype is about the burritos in the Bay Area (never been to California) but if you're in Williamsburg and want one, pop right into this place. My only complaint is it's a hole in the wall. Real small space, not much seating. I went on a Saturday night and it was packed. We had to wait for people to get up and leave before getting a seat.
