This is one of those eateries which despite not attracting much attention to a passerby, makes really good food. Being an Indian myself, continually trying the ever increasing Indian food options in and around Palo Alto, Menlo Park and Mountain View area, this place does stand out for it's authenticity, price and non-fuss. While seating is limited and seems to have been an issue with several other visitors here, I believe they look forward to serving as a to-go restaurant primarily. I've tried their Goat Dosa, Gongura Dosa, Paneer Dosa and Goat Sukka, all of which I would definitely re-order again. I would though caution against their spice levels which typically tends to be a bit on the stronger end. This place is become my go to place when I want something fast, good value, and tasty. I originally was looking for something with a dosa and this popped up very close by to where I live. My former place for dosa was in San Mateo which would've taken at least half an hour to reach. I usually get the masala dosa, with the potato bowl in the middle of the dosa. Because it's to go it's usually covered up so when I receive the bag of goodies, I immediately open up the container so that the dosa doesn't get soggy. The order comes with rassam soup, and two sauces. The whole order usually takes anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes! read more

A simple unassuming establishment, the interiors might be unremarkable but the food is very much not. A one-page laminated menu packs quite a lot of north and south Indian items - kebabs, dal, chole, dosas, uttapams, and the classic Indian variation of french (or belgian?) fries. The dosa comes with the routine sides of chutneys and a small bowl of sambhar. Despite it being quite filling, I went for a 2nd just because it was so good. I tried their madras masala dosa. It's a cut dosa, so don't expect it to be very crisp like a ghee roast. But the filling was delicious. The chutneys were so good and sambar tasted well too! Got a chaas that was so refreshing. A hole in the wall kind of place. Highly recommend and I will go back to try other dosas. read more

The food is just so-so. We ordered a bunch of dishes. The appetizers were gobi Manchurian which was decent and the chicken 65 which was terrible, tough, and appeared burnt. The chicken pieces appeared reheated over from frozen. We ordered the onion rawa masala that was smaller than typical. And a butter chicken that had a raw sort of masala right from a bottle of pataks or traders Joe. Portions in genral are small here. All in all a disappointment. read more

Ordered for takeout. Madras Masala Dosa (4.5/5) Masala was everything you want from a dosa filing: savory and perfectly spiced. The dosa itself was flavorful, but crispry--though that's something I can't ding them for since it was a take out order. Sambar was more on the more watery end, but otherwise delicious. Coconut chuney was a bit "off", almost a bit pungent. Tomato chutney was bright, but too sweet for my taste. Vijaywada Boneless Chicken Biryani (4/5) This is leftover chicken 65 meat infused into biryani (this style is apparently popular in India now). Nevertheless quite tasty (and plentiful) as the meat is soft and very flavorful and the rice is perfectly cooked. Quite spicy Salna is bland, raita is nothing to write home about. I loved this place - we ordered dosas which were absolutely on point and the accompanying Sambar and chutneys were amazingly good. The ambience and location are meh! But honestly I go where I go for the food and taste and this was as good as it gets! Good service and the restaurant was reasonably clean. We ordered the goat Seekh kabob and it was pretty good. The best part - I now don't have to go to South Bay for good dosas - I will just hop out to Menlo Park - this seems like a family run business. We will definitely be back. read more

I tried their butter chicken, samosa, paratha and plain dosa. Love them all! I usually like butter chicken on the creamy side than more tomato side but this butter chicken is just really yummy that I didn't mind it having more tomato taste than cream. The samosa is on a smaller side but the well seasoned potato filling made up for the size. The tamarind chutney is thicker and stronger than others I've had; which is a nice surprise. It shows that they didn't skimp on ingredients. I think one of the dishes included with the dosa is sambar; which I could eat by itself because it was tasty with a little bit of a spicy kick. Absolutely fantastic dosas and sambhar vadai. The quality is exactly as one would find in India, which is very hard to find here. With the first bite I felt like I was back in India. High quality ingredients, especially the oil; many dosa places here reuse old oil, resulting in a bad taste. Vadai for sambhar vadai is made fresh, which isn't common even in India. If you're making a trip to IKEA, don't eat at their cafe, eat here instead! The masala dosa is delightful, filled with lots of fluffy, buttery potatoes, and the coconut and tomato chutneys are top-notch (I could eat the tomato one with a spoon). The sambar is particularly good, it has a light, slightly sweet flavor that doesn't overwhelm the dosa. The sag paneer is dark, rich, and velvety smooth with big chunks of dense & creamy paneer. Maybe the best quality paneer I've had in a sag dish. It's flavorful without being super spicy. The dal tadka is a work of art! But it might be a little hot for some folks (ie; me), so be careful if spicy is not your friend. But I'm a big dal tadka fan and it was worth it for the lovely flavors. I would order it again w/ lots of rice :-) Oh, and that brings me to the rice: HUGE. It is a huge order of rice, enough for three people. I ordered two thinking it would be an average size order, and we'll be eating it for days, lol. The rice itself is lightly seasoned, I'm not sure with what, maybe butter? It's slightly yellowish and it's yummy. They make their flavorful ginger chai to order (takes 10 minutes) and they don't serve it automatically sweetened (we don't like sugar in our chai). Really inaccurate times for pickup. Ordered online and it said it's be ready in 30 minutes. Got here after 35 minutes and nobody tending the counter. Waited a few and finally ring the bell so somebody comes out and says another 10 minutes. It's been 15 more now and still nothing. Sounds like they either goofed and didn't place the order until I got here, or they are just really really slow. A simple basic restaurant hidden away near University Ave, Palo Alto. Didn't have any expectations when I went in coz it was mostly empty. We ordered ghee Dosa, paper dosa, cheese dosa & butter chicken (which comes with a bowl of rice). The food tasted good. But the chutneys (dips for dosa) were too little in quantity. Tried a number of dishes starting with the Biryani which was ok, not as flavorful as I have had. The curries are wonderful though. Had the goat curry which was superb, richness of tastes and flavors, complexity of spices. Wow. Then the chicken curry was equally good, different tastes and depth but overall a wonderful dish. I'm headed toward vegetarianism and this meal will soon be a cherished memory. The service was phenomenal. Dosa Point has become a regular favorite for my mom and I! We have temporarily relocated to the Palo Alto area while my brother recovers from surgery and frequently find ourselves enjoying a meal at Dosa Point as a break away from the hospital. It feels like a little piece of home, while being away. The cozy atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious food keep us coming back for more! The menu has both North and South Indian dishes. So many great options that it's hard to choose from! My favorite has become the Mylapore Dosa. It's the perfect amount of spicy and savory. The accompanying chutneys and sambar are SO good! My mom enjoys the idli and Chana puri, and of course the dosas! They have really great chai, as well. Lots of great options and AMAZING customer service. Certainly give them a try if you're in the area! I've lost count of how many times we've dined in and Door Dashed orders from them! The best Dosa I have ever had! For 26 years we have a tradition to eat Indian food on Valentine's Day to celebrate our first date anniversary. We've spent the last few years looking for an excellent restaurant to continue our tradition. Finally we have found one. And, we will be back more than once a year.
