I came into Double Bamboo as I was looking for a Pho in the Anaheim area. First and foremost, I understand that in the Orange County area, it would be better to go to Westminster or Garden Grove, but this seemed to be a overall solid option if you're not looking to drive far. If you're trying to find this place, look for the large "Shoe City" sign and it'll be a few doors to the left. I decided to take out a Pork and Egg Roll Vermicelli which cost roughly around 9.50. The price for the dish was overall lower than the majority of Vietnamese restaurants, usually costing around 13 dollars on average. When I opened the box, I noticed the lack of ingredients thereof. Though, I quickly put this aside as the cheaper price could vouch for the quantity. If looking for something quick with a decent portion size, this would be it. However, I cannot give them a full five stars for the following reasons. First, the vegetables were not entirely fresh and were actually somewhat dry. In a vermicelli, I would expect the vegetables to be freshly cut and have that moist taste. But out of all contents, the lettuce and beansprouts were by far the most withered. Secondly, the egg rolls were completely soggy, as if they were not even put into the fryer. I ate the meal about 10 minutes after receiving them, which they should have been somewhat crispy. The contents inside were mostly carrots with some meat, which tasted a little less than decent cold. Finally, the pork was lackluster in all regards. There was very little pork compared to other items in the dish, which had me wanting more quantity. The pork flavor itself was the opposite of moist. If you fed it to me blindfolded, I would have told you it was probably pork jerky. Overall, Double Bamboo is getting three stars from me mainly for price to quantity, or more specifically price to taste ratio. For nine dollars, this vermicelli isn't terrible. It's not an absolute steal in the Anaheim area, but it does the job if looking for some Vietnamese food on a budget. If you could afford to eat at another more expensive Vietnamese restaurant and looking for quality, I'd say it's probably better to go there instead. For a decent meal, I'll say decent job Double Bamboo. read more

This mom and pop shop has been around for a while, and I think I previously reviewed it because I lived nearby at the time. I hadn't been in the area in a while, and my family was craving pho so we decided to eat here a few days ago. We weren't disappointed! We were in a rush so we ate quickly and headed out. However, we enjoyed it so much that we decided to come back today :) The waitress is still the same woman who used to serve us, and looks like her husband is still in the kitchen. We ordered the spring rolls, egg rolls, and brisket pho. Everything was as delicious as I remembered! Spring rolls were nice and fresh, with the rice paper still sticky and soft. Their peanut sauce is sooo good, I could lap it up with a spoon. Egg rolls were about the size of lumpia rolls, so they're on the smaller side but I think that works better because the crunch factor is perfect. Again, their dipping sauce for the egg rolls is divine. I even caught my dad sipping it from the little bowl! The pho was well balanced and so flavorful. So comforting on a cool Fall day. I've been to a lot of pho restaurants and their large pho bowls are usually average but here the large is served in the same bowl as the small with the same portion. im paying extra for what? the waitress here is rude. she brings us our check within 10 minutes of us getting our food. i had wanted to order something else but i already got my check so i didnt. she doesnt even say "no rush" or anything. i feel very rushed. when no one is trying to get her attention shes sitting at an empty table on her phone watching videos with max volume. the door is always kept open so theres flies crawling all over my food. truly a bad experience. read more

I don't like saying this but it was the worst restaurant I've ever been to: food was not fresh and it saturated with thick goopy sauces that were too sweet. I tried to not waste it but I couldn't even swallow. My friends' meats were over cooked and they said the smell was so bad they didn't couldn't eat it. There weren't any customers there but they never asked us if the food was okay and we had to chase them down just to get more water. We felt that we were bothering them for wanting to eat. Takeouts only at this time due to COVID-19. This has recently become my family's goto place when we're not sure what we want to eat. This isn't a place I would go out of my way to try, but the convenience and variety keeps me coming back. It serves two of my favorite cuisines, Vietnamese and Thai, at a very reasonable price. Less than $6 for a small bowl of pho is a great deal. It's certainly not the best tasting pho I had, but definitely good enough to eat on a regular basis. I tried at least six other dishes so far but my favorites have been beef based dishes like Thai Salad, YumNua, Filet Mignon (bo luc lac), and Double Bamboo Temptation. Beef was tender on all these dishes and they were packed with flavor. However, it's kind of confusing because some of the items seem almost identical. For example, Thai Salad and YumNua are both salads with beef and similar dressing. Filet Mignon and Double Bamboo Temptation came with beef chunks and same sauce. I honestly couldn't tell much difference between these items but the price is higher on the Filet Mignon. The Pho tastes like a home cooked meal. The broth tasted very natural without a lot of salt, and it was the perfect temperature even as a takeout. This is a small, family owned business run by a husband and wife. It was clean and was following local health guidelines (handsanitizers and masks). I had no personal complaints about the food. At the corner of Knott and Katella in the Daiso shopping sits this tiny place offering Pho, rice dishes and vermicelli bowls. Menu displays pictures of every dish so there are no surprises. Chicken vermicelli with veggies was typical. Nothing taste exploding in your mouth, but ut was still good. Huge portion of warm vermicelli, lots of charbroiled chicken and a few veggies snuggled neatly in a large bowl. Table top fish sauce and Hoison sauce complements the dish nicely. The Pho was was just okay according to my patient. The brisket was hard and skimpy. Luckily I don't ever finish my food so he was able to add more vermicelli and chicken to his brooth. Iced coffee was good but sucked down in a flash. Good news, it was super cheap...2 dinners, egg rolls and iced coffee set us back at about $20.00. So far so good. Came in on a rainy Tuesday to get some pho with my girlfriend and walked into a beautiful Vietnamese restaurant. It was not full, and we were the only customers, but then again it was 9 pm and 1 hr before closing. I ordered the pho tai and it was just what I expected out of pho!!!! Definitely filled my craving on this cold day. At least my tummy will stay warm during this atmospheric river event we're experiencing here in California. This is the first time in a phô place that the broth was not overtly salty and I didn't detect MSG. That being said; I like my soup a bit salty and I don't mind MSG in my food... Thought we found a new pho place but we ordered some other items on the menu. Portions were very small and food just did not seem fresh at all. I ordered the Pad Key Mow with shrimp. It seemed frozen to microwave type food. If you've ever had the frozen chow Meiji from Costco, this is similar, but Costco chow mein is better. The Pad Key came with 6 shrimp including the tails which I did not enjoy. We got two ordered of beef pad Thai and the noodles were very dry and stuck together. The beef was not seasoned and looked like the cheapest stuff on the market. We also ordered the combination fried rice. It was honestly all just terrible but we ate it because we were hungry.
