The food was very good and huge portions. The service was terrible. When we arrived there were only about 10 tables with someone at them. There were several servers working. It took our server over 15 minutes to take our drink order. Took about 10 more minutes before she delivered our drinks and took our order. It was another 35 minutes before we got our breakfast. Server only checked back once to see if we needed more coffee or soda. The hardest working person in the dining room was the bus boy who was on top of getting tables cleaned and coffee creamers filled when patrons left. Sunday morning in Greeley for gluten-free aren't as many options. Most wait till 8 or later to open, even coffee shops. But this place was open, offered gluten-free and non pork options for meat so we stopped in. It was not busy we were the only patrons at first and the food came out quickly due to this. The staff was AMAZING! The person that sat us was super friendly, our server was amazing and friendly, and even the cook all went out if the way for us. I actually used the online ordering system to understand how and what I could order. Mynhubby got a side of hashbrowns and a side of "turkey sausage " which is turkey sausage with green chillies. He lived this sausage but had a but of heat. The side if 2 patties is $4.75. I got an omelet with sliced turkey (deli turkey) and pesto. Gluten-free toast (which was a slice of seeded GF) and I got the hasbrowns lightly done (which is soft). I cannot have dairy so there was no cheese in my omelet but when I told the server the cook and him were worried with the butter and the cook wanted me to make sure the hashbrowns would be ok giving me a sample. Way above and beyond IMO. The omelet was so yummy. We also got latte which we enjoyed and happy since the coffee shops in the area were not open. Amazing breakfast!! This place was popping on a weekend morning but our party of three was able to get seated within 20 minutes. The portion sizes were crazy. One pancake is what normally two and a half pancakes would make up. I loved the pancake though, the texture was nice and soft and with the maple syrup, so so delicious. This is cute little diner with plenty of tables and I would absolutely come back to try more of their special pancake flavors. read more

We recently visited this place and unfortunately had a pretty disappointing experience. After being seated, we waited about 10 minutes just to be acknowledged and get our drinks, which isn't a great first impression. Throughout the meal, it felt like we weren't really being attended to, as if our table was overlooked. When we finished eating, the lack of attention continued. We waited about 15 minutes til my boyfriend actually had to flag down the waitress just to get the check and ask for to-go boxes, which shouldn't be necessary at any restaurant. Also, as a host, it's important to be clear and confident--please speak up when greeting or seating guests. First impressions matter, and communication sets the tone for the entire dining experience. Doug's Diner in Greeley is under new management! Under the suggestion of a friend I tried Doug's Diner again. Good news! The staff is different not just with some new faces but with their operational protocols. Although the waiting area is still the same size there is no one in it. We got seated right away even though our entire party wasn't there. We were addressed right away by our waitress who was kind, pleasant and prompt to get us served with coffee, juice and water. Then came back twice to see if we were ready to order food. It was great. I will withhold the Five Star rating till I can visit a couple more times to ensure my experience wasn't a one time anomaly under this new management. But right now it's looking very positive for a place I love to eat at. It was never an issue of the food there for me before. It was purely the service and treatment the staff put out. It didn't even seem to mater who you got or on what days. It usually was initiated as you walked in the door with the host who would sit you in the large waiting areas even when tables were open, clean and available . Once you were seated (which could take 30 min plus on a Saturday morning) you would then wait even longer to have a waiter or waitress tend to simple things like water, coffee etc.... These issues are no longer the case from what I can tell on my one return trip. read more

Stopped in Greeley to see the Union Pacific Big Boy today. After I went to Doug's for lunch since Roasty's was closed. The menu items are eclectic to say the least. The burger selection was uninspired-lots of bacon with weird toppings such as peanut butter. If you have kids with you I'd recommend going to Carl's down the street. After looking the menu over for 15 minutes I finally noticed chicken fried chicken. It was ok. The ambiance is strange. It doesn't feel like a diner. The layout is bizarre-maze like. Hands down my new favorite breakfast spot when I visit. This place is located in the heart of downtown Greeley by all the local shops and the college. When I came this place was packed!! They have several seating options such as booths tables and even a bar top seating. Service is impeccable. I don't remember the name of what I ordered but it was a base layer of shredded fried potatoes with beef tips, tender as crap! Then some green chili which was to die for and set the whole tone for the meal finished off w an over easy egg. The portion was enough for 3 and I think I paid 12 dollars for the whole plate. Been going here for years, sometimes its great, sometimes it is a complete cluster f***. Some of the staff cannot handle an order for a glass of ice water. This is a constant. Do Not Order over the phone/Menufy, it will be inaccurate or incomplete when delivered, if you do not check it, you are an idiot. Ambiance is ok. Old school dinner style which I appreciate. Dont bother looking for a manager, you can never get one on the phone and they are never in. Starting to think they do not exist. So, in conclusion, order and eat here with accpetance of a 50/50 shot of it being a decent experience or the wait staff telling you to "just get the f*** out" when they cant deliver a simple order. read more

An absolute jewel of a diner. Had the carne asada over a mountain of hash browns w green chili and eggs . On the side was a 5.95 cinnamon roll, that was closer to a half-loaf size than a roll size. Every bite was delicious. Coffee was excellent and never saw the bottom of my coffee mug until I said "no mas". Mind you this was split between two hungry adults and still had leftovers. Very clean and attractive diner in downtown diner that we could walk to from the LINC library or Quality Inn. read more

While staying in Greeley for the weekend, my husband and I decided to give Doug's Diner a try the Sunday morning before we left. When we walked up, we immediately knew that this was the place to be based on the long line of people waiting to be seated. Thankfully, it was just the 2 of us, so we only had to wait 10 minutes before they called our names. We sat down at a booth (my personal favorite seating arrangement), and we were immediately greeted by our waiter, who kindly gave us a few minutes to look over the menu while he got us some water. I ordered the eggnog latte (a seasonal drink) and was so pleased by the flavor! It was so creamy and full of eggnog AND espresso with every sip. Delicious. For food, my husband ordered the breakfast burrito, which turned out to be the largest breakfast burrito we both had ever seen. He got it topped with gravy and green chile and it was very tasty. I got the Skinny Papa "whimpy" style (half portion). I loved all of the veggies, along with the cheese, hashbrowns, and I got Christmas-style chile (red & green chile). It was very good but I wish I got the gravy on top too! Note to anyone who goes here: if you're a gravy person, get it on top of any savory dish you get! So worth it. On top of the great meals, service was solid throughout our dining experience. Drinks/water came out quickly, as did the food! And our waiter was very nice. Doug's used to be our absolute favorite! We ate there probably twice a month. Ever since new ownership, it's gone way downhill! They got rid of the employees that truly cared, and the few times I've been there, the service has been absolutely awful. This morning was no different. The food was decent, but the bacon wasn't fresh. They took out so many tables as well. So it's very scarce in there. Tons of employees sitting at the bar talking when we waited 20 mins to even get our order in, and they weren't even busy. We didn't get our refills, didn't get our check for a good 15-20 after we were done. I'm honestly unsure how they're still open at this point. Sad to say I won't be back!! food was pretty tasty. we got a breakfast burrito with red chile sauce and chorizo, crepes with strawberry jam, and a side order of hash browns plus two coffees. they had hot sauce from a local fort collins company called horsetooth hot sauce which was pretty cool. it was very yummy, just really spicy. this place was great to try but i'm not sure i'd come back. the coffee was good but there were a bunch of grounds in our cups. it was pretty busy when we came, and the burrito didn't have as much flavor as I expected. most of the flavor was in the chorizo, which was overshadowed by the monumental amount of hash browns stuffed inside. overall just not super memorable to me. not a bad experience, but not too great. read more

We stopped in here today for breakfast, and sat at the counter. It was pretty busy - but at the same time - no one waiting for seating. It's very light/bright inside with lots of windows/light, and the restaurant is on a corner (which allows for all the windows on two sides). We started with a hazelnut latte and chai, both of which were delicious. For food - I actually broke away from my normal and ordered the papas - I was pleasantly surprised to find out they are customizable - so I went with the skinny, no onions or peppers, and added bacon. The plate that came out was massive - loaded with potatoes, generous portion of gravy and cheese, as well as tomatoes, spinach, and bacon.
