I've always enjoyed the food at Doug's in spite of spotty service but today took the cake for service. I ordered breakfast with toast and their delicious homemade jam. The jam didn't come out with my meal so I pointed that out to our server who said she'd get it right away. Several minutes went by and still no jam so I caught her attention and asked for it again. I was told "I'm a jack of all trades." Not sure what that meant but oh well. Several more minutes went by and by this time I'm half way through breakfast with no jam for my toast. Feeling frustrated and neglected I go to the kitchen hoping to get my jam and she tells me "We're really busy, I'll bring it right out." Well right out to me means right now. After a few minutes she brings the jam and almost slams it on the table and says absolutely nothing to me. Bad attitude at it's best. When she brings the check she literally throws it on the table. Any chance for even a small tip has just gone away. I understand when restaurants get busy but waiting almost 10 minutes for something that should only take 1 minute is completely unacceptable. I'll continue to go to Doug's and enjoy their good food but I guess I'll have to go in with the idea the service will be terrible. Then when it isn't, I'll feel better! read more

Wonderful breakfast. Portions are huge and enough for take-out for tomorrow. The Rancher is a very large freshly breaded chicken-fry steak with hand-grated hashbrown potatoes. Nothing frozen and microwaved. Breakfast burritos were tasty and as large as the plate. It appeared that everything is homemade and hand-prepared . . . all the way down to the homemade strawberry jelly. You will not be disappointed. read more

After having a horrible experience at Snooze down the street after waiting 30 minutes, we left and chose to come to Doug's. We've always had great service and great food! Despite Doug's having a sign stating they were short staffed, their staff did an Excellent job! We were seating within 5 minutes (we were told 15 minutes) and were treated kindly and with respect! The food was excellent as always! Don't know why we attempted to change things up and go to Snooze, never again! read more

This place is awesome!! No wait to be seated on a Friday morning. The coffee was delicious. The food was super delicious. And the best part is the huge portions given. I was so excited to try this place but what a let down. Our waitress spent more time by the bar on her phone than she did helping us. She didn't want to explain the menu. Being our first time, she was no help at all. Never came over to see if our food was ok or not. Which it was not. Everything was very greasy. My wife and I had heard about this restaurant for some time, and today we decided to try it. We walked in a little bit before noon, and it wasn't to busy (which was nice for a change), I think, the main reason was the fact that this place is still a hidden treasure. They had a wide assortment of dishes, from American to Mexican. However, I was in the mood for breakfast (The Hillbillie), and my wife opted for chicken fried chicken. Now, we were also luckily enough to be seated by the kitchen, so we could see all the beautifully prepared food that was coming out to be served to thier customers. I was also able to see the cook staff was dressed clean, and they were also wearing plastic gloves. So its obvious, that this place take cleanliness seriously. Now, back to our food, it was very good, and plenty for what you pay for, that's for sure. If your looking for a new place to try out, give Doug's Day Diner a shot, and ask to have Anne serve you, she's a sweetheart. read more

Omg my husband and I tried this place this morning and I've honestly never had better service in my life. I've been in restaurants basically my whole life and my parents even owned some restaurants growing up. We had a server named Kim and she was absolutely amazing not only was she super attentive but had an amazing personality and cared about the people she worked for and her customers. The food was great but too have the great service with it made all the difference. If you decide to try this place ask for Kim's section I promise you will not be disappointed!!! read more

Such a lovely little diner. It's so refreshing to see a nice sit down place in Thornton, where we are severely lacking restaurants that aren't fast food. Service was great. The servers were very nice and attentive even during the brunch rush. Food was absolutely delicious. We ordered a variety of dishes in our large party and not a single complaint was heard, and the little ones also enjoyed their food, which is always a bonus for those picky eaters. I absolutely recommend getting the bacon. It's thick cut and very tasty. The location is probably what puts this place over the top. Before when I wanted brunch food I had to drive past the nightmare that is 120th to First Watch or the Delectable Egg, but this location is about 5 minutes from my home and I absolutely love it. read more

Came for breakfast on a Sunday morning around 830am. There was about a 15 min wait for 2. Not bad in my opinion. I ordered the skinny papas "christmas" style (red and chili) and my mom got the basic breakfast. Our eggs were cooked perfectly, the chili tasted fantastic and the waitress was super friendly! We were very happy with our service and food. The only thing that wasn't up to snuff was their homemade jelly. It was kinda runny and lacking some flavor. Everything else was great! Ate here the first time this morning. Had a lovely green chili omelette and my wife had the eggs benedict. They were both fabulous. The best thing we though was the pesto tomatoes. These were sides but quite amazing flavor. Definitely will be going back and will have to take some pictures. read more
