It really was good, I would get that again. I really liked their basil martini. Also, they have these really expensive, booze soaked cherries. Try to get a few of these in whatever fruity drink you get. YUM! Ambiance is like a beach bar. The food was very good. The fried fish was a little bit too battered. My son loved the kids meal cheese quesadillas. Very good Caesar salad. It's a very large restaurant, outside. Biggest complaint- for such a large outdoor restaurant with so many people drinking beer and cocktails, they really need to expand the bathrooms, it's impossible to have two little stalls for the women's restroom. This is a lively outdoorsy spot in the interior of a retail-plex. Grab some napkins as everything we ordered was messy to say the least, very tasty but messy. The quadruple stacked burger was no joke. We loved the fish tacos and thought the sprouts were a nice touch. The grilled fish came with a large veggie side that was envied as we have noticed veggies seem to be hard to come by on the island. Cute spot to grab brunch if you're in the area! The food was pretty good and had something for everyone. First come first serve basis seating wise but we came before 11am on a Saturday and it wasn't too crowded (during covid times). They have $10 carafes for brunch (mimosas, Bloody Mary's, etc.) which looked super tempting but we had to opt out and keep things tame and got a couple of beers instead which were still great. We got the coconut shrimp, ahi tuna melt, and their special 'crab & lobster grilled cheese sandwich'. Coconut shrimp was average but I highly recommend the grilled cheese sandwich if you're a grilled cheese sandwich and seafood lover. There were good chunks of lobster and crab in each bite and the lava lava sauce (signature sauce) topped it off. If you don't want to go too heavy, the ahi tuna melt was a great lunch meal! We parked in a free public lot with a 3-hour limit down the street. The restaurant is located on the first floor of The Wharf Cinema Center. This is the order at the counter and they bring your food to you restaurant. They also had a bar area and live music. Seating is located in the center's courtyard. The menu had great burger, tacos, salads, fish dishes, and a variety of appetizers. Off menu, they sold souvenir shirts, hats, and other cute items. We both opted for the vegetarian Dinosaur Burgers. The food came out fast, was nicely plated and delicious. The patty mimicked real meat as opposed to having a grain or bean taste and texture. Service was very good. The servers were friendly and helpful. There were restrooms located in their sister shop next door, Breakwall Shave Ice, and in different areas of the center. *Breakwall is on DTH's menu but you have to order at Breakwall's counter. They had a great selection of shaved ice and Acai bowls. If you dine at DTH, they offer a 15% discount. See my review of Breakwall. Prices were reasonable. Came here twice. Loved the lava lava shrimp for dinner. It's a huge portion to share. All their portions are good sharing size if you aren't too hungry. This is a fun little place! Completely outdoor seating, feels almost like a mall food court as there are several other businesses around. Service and food are quick! We did not wait long at all. Great presentation on the food, as you can see! Po boy was crunchy and flavorful. The chicken and waffles had gravy, which is something we've never had with other C&Ws but was a delicious twist! Definitely a fork and knife meal. The mule we ordered was weak and sour, wouldn't recommend. But maybe other drinks are better, we only tried the one! This is definitely the most touristy area we visited in Maui. Parking in this area is a little difficult, very busy. The food here was A-OK for breakfast 'tho the lunch/dinner menu looked (or sounded by the listings and descriptions) amazingly awesome and better to the point where I'd want to come back and try 'em. I had the Chicken and Waffles. The chicken was lightly battered boneless chicken breast white meat that was fried but didn't have much flavor in the batter (and it was skinless) which is generally what makes for an amazing fried chicken, and the meat wasn't marinated or seasoned well, so it was a tad bland, albeit moist and fresh. The waffles were mini-belgian styled waffles, thick but not super fluffy and a bit dense, and served with syrup, but not butter. I'd probably not order this again, it wan't bad, but I've had better. The service was friendly enough, and the seating was sparse, so there was a slight wait for the table, as you had to order from the counter and then find your own seats. It's on Front Street, the perfect area in Lahaina where there's many restaurant options as well as shopping. Parking was easy for us, as this was located at the furthest commercial part of Front Street near where the business retail shops end. read more

We stopped here on our last day in Maui and I'm so glad we did! My husband snagged us a spot at the bar and we were able to eat, drink and enjoy some March Madness basketball. If you're not eating at the bar then you go up and order at a counter, get an order number and find a table. Tables are outside. The lava flow had a strawberry purée that was delicious. My husband got the Bikini Blonde from Maui Brewing which he ended up loving and having at multiple places during our trip. He had the lava lava spicy chicken sandwich. It was HUGE and delicious! I had the fish and fries. The homemade tarter sauce was very flavorful. The bartender recommended the mermaid fries which had 3 different homemade sauces; the lava sauce (has a kick), queso and ranch. They were insanely delicious! We waited ~15 minutes in line and then another ~20 to get our food, but there was a really good band so the wait was totally fine. The food was all really well prepared, and my only issue is that the lava lava sauce (their signature sauce) was on literally everything we got and was a very strong flavor. I was surprised that the sauce was on the fish tacos even though it wasn't listed. We got fountain soda for drinks, but it tasted off-- like maybe it didn't have enough syrup or CO2. This is a long overdue review for when I actually visited. I really wish that they open up again when possible. I must say that this place is awesome! The ambience is nice and really ocean/beach themed. It's nice how they have rocks and a water path throughout the outer part of the restaurant. The service is like a casual restaurant. Simple but perfect. My favorite part though, is of course, the food! The tacos are literally the best tacos in the word. I wish Down The Hatch had many locations! The tacos are the perfect taste for tacos. Down the Hatch has seriously mastered their tacos. Their mango smoothie and Piña Colada are also pretty good. I have stopped by DTH's sister Breakwall Shaved Ice several times last year but did not get a chance to try Down the Hatch until this year for lunch enticed by Kelli's close up picture of the lobster and crab grilled cheese. The rich crab and lobster mixture was offset by the diced tomatoes all sandwiched between two soft slices of Hawaiian sweet bread and coincidentally enjoying this on National Lobster Day just made it even more apropos. My husband got the ahi lotus which had a nice presentation but did not quite resemble a lotus if that was what they were going for. I only had a bite which was fine but not too memorable as I turned my attention next to the lava lava shrimp appetizer teeming with shrimps served in a martini glass so generous, I couldn't finish it all especially since I was the only shellfish tolerant one in the party. Probably a good thing as the spice from the lava lava sauce was starting to get to me after awhile.
