She writes, "After further review unfortunately at the time of your service your battery test did not indicate an issue. We can provide you with a copy of the battery test if you would like." That's fine and all, I have no reason to doubt that, but why did El Monte Hyundai determine that I had a bad 12V battery very shortly after? The replaced my battery under warranty and the car had no more issues. That tells me the possibility of 1 of 2 things: that the battery test was either never done (or results falsified) or the technicians did not know what they were doing. Vanessa also did not address the fact that a service advisor promised me qualified technicians would be available that Saturday to do extensive tests on the main EV battery (when I called in to schedule the appointment), but when I actually went in and was told that no such qualified techs were available until Monday! An apology for this miscommunication or mistake would have been nice too. read more

I came in for a simple oil change and mentioned a noise while turning. They rescheduled me from Friday to Saturday, but when I arrived, the service advisor (Mario) immediately told me they were short-staffed and probably couldn't help. Why schedule me then? I left the car, and by 9 AM they claimed everything was fine. It wasn't. The noise was still there and now the car was shaking when stopped. Even worse, I found spark plugs left under the hood ! a serious safety issue. I called in furious, was put on hold for 30 minutes, then brushed off until a manager (Kimberlina) finally took my call. Her response? No apology. No concern. Just "let's move forward." Before I brought the car back. She immediately said it was "wear and tear" and likely not covered under warranty without even checking the vehicle. I had to push to go on a test drive with the foreman, who confirmed the issue, and still got zero acknowledgment of the spark plugs left in my engine bay. Total cost? $650. Kimberlina's "solution"? Waive the labor. I had no choice but to pay. I escalated to Hyundai corporate, who said to speak to the general manager. When I called back, I was transferred to someone named Jessica, who was rude, dismissive, and hung up on me mid-sentence. When I called again, I was told no managers were available until finally, the GM (Sam) called back. He was the only person who acted somewhat professionally. However he did not say anything about his team leaving spark plugs underneath the hood of my vehicle he said they always check before giving the car back ... clearly not . When I mentioned how Jessica hung up on me he said that's normally not like her ! It doesn't matter if it's normally not like her it was TODAY and with me that's all that matters . He said what do you want a refund a discount what are you looking for ? THAT WAS RUDE OF HIM TO SPEAK LIKE THAT! He offered me a refund. When I went to pick up the check (at the time he gave me), they claimed he wasn't expecting me until two hours later. I waited. When I asked for my gas tank to be filled (after multiple trips back and forth), it took another hour as Kimberlina said they had to wait for a porter to be free More confusion as they took the wrong vehicle , more delays, more excuse. This place is a joke. Incompetent service, zero accountability, and shockingly bad customer treatment. I wouldn't trust them with a bicycle, let alone a vehicle. We showed him the online Hyundai factory offer and 2 other dealer ship offers and he said that is not Downey's offer. This was our 2nd Ioniq 5 so we knew the ballpark of what the lease should be like based on the trim and researching other dealers Anaheim, Cerritos, PHills, MHills, VNuys over the phone. This dealer does not want to work with us and we left. We went to El Monte and got the Ioniq 5. To not offer Hyundai factory lease deal was odd. Research pays off! read more

This has been the worst, weirdest dealership experience ever. The only reason I'm giving one star is because it doesn't allow 0 and I love my car, but the car has nothing to do with the dealership. I went into the dealership knowing exactly what car I wanted, so we did the work for our salesperson and it still took 6 hours to go in and get the car and leave. Right after we left the lot, I discovered a paint scratch on the front left bumper and luckily the dealership agreed to fix it. A month after getting the car, we finally got an appointment scheduled to bring the car in and was told it would take two days. A week later, I still hadn't heard anything until I reached out and sought out a single individual who knew anything about my car across multiple phone calls. Even then, she told me that it would be ready on Monday, today being Saturday. A whole week since I dropped it off, and I had to seek the information. To add insult to injury, we still haven't received the check with the balance from the car we traded in. Keep in mind, the car was bought a month ago. My suggestion: avoid this dealership at all costs. It's astonishing how they were the #1 seller in the nation in January. They must have desperate customers. The worst thing about the experience was the blast of aroma that hits you when you enter the building. AVOID! This dealership engages in bait and switch and fraud. Communication is horrible. Read the other one-star reviews and the BBB site (F!) about this dealer, I wish I had read those before I dealt with them. TL/DR: the prices on their website are not honored... they will list one sale price on the website ($42,500 in my case) and then send you an offer that adds $9,500 to the advertised price (and this is not taxes or fees, see image below). If they say they will honor it, do not believe them, when you show up they will stonewall you and then ghost you. For those interested in the full details: I negotiated a price for a new Ioniq 5 online via email and text, and I have everything in writing... however it took them a long time to get back to me with final approval. The dealer closes at 9pm, at 8:30pm the salesperson told me they would honor the selling price on their website, and the deal we negotiated, but I had to do it that night, and they would stay open for me. I drove from Calabasas to Downey, checkbook in hand, to buy the car. When I arrived they showed me the car (not clean, not fully charged, and with damage to the front passenger bumper), let me do a test drive (the salesperson must be new, she was unfamiliar with some of the features, but that was OK I had done my homework). The damage to the bumper wasn't too bad, and it was admittedly a very good deal for an Ioniq 5, so we decided to move forward. She had us fill out the paperwork. Then she disappeared, never to be seen again, and we waited. After about half an hour a manager came out to inform us that there was no one on site to approve the deal and they 'couldn't reach' the General Manager, and there was nothing at all she could do. Despite having assurances, in writing, the details, in writing, the salesperson saying she had "checked with the manager", in writing, and having driven over an hour at night in good faith, they were not going to give us the deal they had agreed to that evening. When I expressed frustration that we had a deal, in writing, and had driven an hour at 9pm at night because we were told that was what was needed to close the deal, this woman had the gall to say that all the staff "live in the valley" and had the same commute. Yeah, but when you drove from Sherman Oaks to Downey today you weren't told you didn't have a job and sent home. So frustrating. She assured us the General Manager would be contacted first thing in the morning, and that when the deal closed we could do it online and they would deliver the car (so why did we have to drive out that night?!) We went home and I sent her all the emails and screenshots of the deal we'd negotiated. Then they ghosted me. I never got a call from the dealership. When I called in hours after they opened I was told the manager I spoke with had not shown up even though she was on the schedule. They handed me off to no less than 4 other salesmen who said they would "look into it" and get back to me. Then they started telling me that they were all "in meetings" and unavailable. I left 3 separate messages for the General Manager and he never once called me. And by the way, do you really want to do business where the person who has to authorize the deal is never available? What kind of dealer operates like that? By now it was obvious they had no intention of honoring the deal. I ended up going to another dealership and getting a great deal and moving on... Downey Hyundai wasted 2 days of my time for nothing. Heed the warnings, read the one star reviews and see that my experience is the norm here. STAY AWAY. read more

The pricing this dealership offered couldn't be matched, which was a plus. I'd like to see the team continue to develop on customer care so the entire transaction feels seamless, totally above board, and the customer gets every item they're supposed to (eg two key fobs, front and back license plates, car manual, wash and detail before sale, accessories listed on sticker, full tank of gas). A very disappointing experience with Downey Hyundai and the manager who was on shift on the night of Saturday August 9th. I would recommend you do business with any other Hyundai dealership in the LA area besides Downey Hyundai. On that Saturday, my partner had called Claudia on the phone to discuss a lease deal on a Hyundai Ioniq 6 SEL, and she confirmed 3 times that the deal was as we expected. We went in that evening to test drive the Ioniq 6, Claudia did not greet us, but a different salesperson did. We loved the vehicle. However, during the test drive, the salesperson claimed the lease deal was twice the monthly rate that was discussed on the phone. When we got to the salesperson's desk, we showed a different deal we saw online from a third-party provider that showed a similar rate and also explained what we were told on the phone by Claudia. The salesperson got their manager to come to the desk, and the manager's tone was immediately patronizing and belittling. He made fun of the third-party platform, ridiculing that we'd present such an offer with an extremely patronizing tone, and claiming Claudia had never stated the initial deal as we heard on the phone with no proof or evidence. After every sarcastic question, he would look back at the other car salesmen and laugh. I've never worked with a car salesperson or car dealership with such unprofessionalism and such a disrespectful tone with customers. It seems we were lied to about a lease rate on the phone to get our foot in the door, and bullied into the belief that we'd never secure that rate. We left without giving them our business, appalled at what just happened. We've been fans of the Ioniq 6 for awhile and were really looking forward to getting one to commute around LA. This experience left a bitter taste in our mouths as our first experience with a Hyundai dealership. After confirming that the car I was interested in was on the lot, I arrived at the dealership--with an appointment--and was shuttled between multiple "team members" before being told that they, "had to see if the car was available." 20 minutes later, we were informed that the car was available, but that the "team member" needed to "try to find the key." Found a used car I wanted on the website at this location, and confirmed the car was available. I immediately scheduled a test drive for the following day. I received a text confirmation for the test drive. I then received a phone call confirming the test drive. The following morning I received yet another phone call confirming the test drive. Later that morning I received another text confirming the test drive. I drove 2.5 hours through L.A. traffic to get to Downey for this test drive and asked for Kevin, whom the test drive was scheduled with, and when he comes to meet me says he was about to call me because the car was just sold. This was pretty bad. I've never been treated this way before in a retail environment. However... I left almost immediately and 20 minutes later received another text asking if I was coming to the scheduled test drive. Later that evening another text asking if we could reschedule that test drive. And then the next day received another text asking if I wanted to reschedule the test drive. I think from the evidence collected above there never was a car available and they used it as a bait and switch to get me to the dealership to talk to me about new lease opportunities. I was literally walking out the door after a salesman (and apparently a manager) told me there was "no way to get my target price for the lease" and Ali stopped me, asked me what he could try so I could leave with the car and literally within 20 min I had my car. The exact exterior color, interior color, and trim. I will say I wish he would've mentioned the extra packages like the first-aid kit, the net in the trunk, and the wheel tools, like...that's around +$300 I could've saved by not having those. It's just extra for me that I'm grateful to have, but if I would've remembered beforehand, or he would've pointed out how it was extra and showed me the prices for these add-ons, I would've rejected them. If you're a young woman, do not come here alone. I've been to this service station three times, and each experience left me feeling uncomfortable and frustrated. The first time, I came in for a broken door panel. When I tried to check in, the employee snapped at me for not explaining the issue, even though he never asked why I was there (which is something they're supposed to do). After I picked up my car, he told me a part was ordered and that I'd be contacted in three weeks--but I never heard back. After being bounced around on the phone, I found out the part had never been ordered. Thankfully, someone in the parts department finally helped and confirmed the original employee had never even place the order so I ended waiting 2 months for the issue to be fixed. The second visit was for regular maintenance. I walked into the office looking for the woman who had helped me before, and the same employee from my first visit gave me attitude again. He stared at me blankly and said, "She'll help you over there," with a tight-lipped smile. It was confusing and uncomfortable--especially because I had done nothing wrong during my previous visit, and even apologized when he snapped at me, even though it wasn't my fault. The third visit (which happened today) was the worst. I had scheduled a service for a serious acceleration issue--a major safety concern. I waited in my car for nearly an hour and was completely ignored. A woman began the check-in process, found my name, then said she needed another tablet--and never came back. Through the glass, I could see her laughing and joking with the same employee I had issues with before--clearly pointing at my vehicle while I was still sitting in it. Not long after, they helped the customer in front of me, then the one behind me, and completely skipped over me. Eventually, another employee--who wasn't even part of the check-in team--noticed I was still waiting. He came outside, apologized, and said when he asked the others if I had been helped, they just shrugged. By then, it was too late for the inspection, and I had to reschedule. I truly believe I was treated this way because I'm a woman, specifically a young woman. Every time I've been here, I've really had to go the extra mile just to get basic service. Honestly, I don't feel safe going to that service center anymore. If you're a young woman, please bring someone with you--like your dad. I'm not sure if it's just that one guy who has a bias against women or what, but it's unacceptable and it sucks to have paid this money on a new car just to be treated this way. Please go to CERRITOS. They have much better reviews. Also, thank you to the employee who finally came to check on me.
