If we need a plumber we don't call this company anymore. They tend to charge a lot-are rigid and charge just for an estimate-that's not generous nor of the current business culture. Seems they had a strong reputation, and that's nice I guess, but quality work at affordable prices is a need now, not a want. We have had a few things redone that they previously did in the past 3-5 years-and while they were more willing to suggest repipes often, with stars in their eyes, than observe other simple helpful fixes while they're here. Proud and pricey-pay top dollar but the task needs redoing fairly soon. My wife and her parents were Downey locals that enjoyed quality longlasting work, but money seems to have stolen the eye of this company and humility seems to surface only rarely. Old school greed doesn't fare well in a diverse culture. Hope they regain their hardworking core values that we all did enjoy. Triple P plumbing went over and above the call for us-they've got youth and hard work on their side and prices were in our contentment range. Called for a small leak on the patio faucet, it needs to be desoldered and the connector replaced. see the pictures below. They wanted $900 for the repair! The agent had said there would be a $80 consultation fee, but when I refused the work they added $20 for van charges for a total of $99! Downey Plumbing replaced my dad's wall heater a couple of years ago. Not cheap either! It needed a replacement thermostat recently. I had to practically beg them to come out to fix it. They insisted I file a claim first, but it was the middle of winter and my 80yr old dad is ill and we needed the heater fixed asap. I had to insist that they take my money and send a technician to service the heater that day. I should've know better than to call them when we had a separate plumbing issue last month, because we called 3 times and never heard back. So disappointing. read more

I purchased an "Auto Hot (on Demand) Under The Sink" Hot water recirculation system "DR 099A-USK" directly from them. I had 3 plumbers told me it should not be installed under the but had to be installed at my water Heated. I called Auto Hot and was told it was definitely designed to be installed under the sink. Then I remembered "Downey Plumbing & Air Conditioning" was one off the plumbing companies recommended by the Auto Hot Distributer Rep. I called them and the send their technician "German" who told me how long it would and he was almost spot on with the time. He did an Excellent job with the installation and its working fine. My only regret is that I didn't do this many Years ago. We are no longer wasting water and time for the hot water to get to our faucets. It was both a relief and a pleasure to have Aaron and Alberto of Downey Plumbing Heating and A/C respond to my Homeserve service call for a blocked sewage line issue at my rental property. My tenants called a plumber that quoted a $3500 fee to repair alleged leaks and to cut out and replace sewer line piping because it was wet in the crawl space under the house. It turns out that the moisture under the house was evenly distributed and the result of the recent heavy rains. The line only needed to be snaked out and cost me nothing beyond my regular Homeserve monthly premium. They also gave me a clear expectation and possible cost point for replacing the galvanized piping at the property and I truly appreciated their candor and honesty. HIRE A LAWYER before you do business with Downey Plumbing. Just like Stephanie B noted here (3/1/23), as well as several others that were "Force-fed" this company by the insurance company... I would never call Downey Plumbing for a plumbing issue. However, HomeServe (insurance through So Cal Gas & California Water Company) uses them for claims. It was like dealing with the mob.... First of all they REFUSE to do any "Claims work" on weekends... in my case FOUR WEEKENDS IN A ROW... (And YES I have the documentation to prove it) My hot water was not working for a MONTH... Then they tried to charge me over $1200 for a 1-foot x 4-foot piece of concrete that they had to fill -in, it's LITERALLY 4-SQUARE FEET of cement - SEE THE PICTURES... AND they made NO attempt to match the color) as I tried to reason with them about the EXTREME BS charges - THEY SENT IT TO A COLLECTION AGENCY, and I will be hiring a lawyer... Who would have thought that HIRING A LAWYER WOULD BE CHEAPER THAN HIRING DOWNEY PLUMBING? Secondly - their work is ALREADY RUSTING.... I set up an appointment to have Downey Plumbing come out and to resolve an issue with a toilet draining slowly. They flushed the toilet and quickly said their was an issues with the jets and the toilet needed to be replaced at an estimated cost of over $900. Having had similar issues I thought that there might have been roots in the line. He ran an auger after I requested him to do so. After running the auger a few times the toilet was draining properly. Later in the day the issue returned. I called another plumber since Downey Plumbing was only interested in selling me a new toilet. The new plumber took the time to remove the toilet and found roots in the line which he took the time to run an auger and clean them out. He reconnected and resealed the toilet. The problem has not returned. Please beware when dealing with Downey Plumbing as they only appear to want upsell customers instead of analyzing the issue. Perhaps it is because I am a senior citizen they thought that I would just go with their recommendation to replace the toilet which would not have resolved the issue. I did contact them for a reimbursement of the $167 they billed me but they refused. I may be older but I know when someone is trying to take me and sell me something that I don't need. I will never use their services again and recommend others do not use them. read more

When one of my kitchen faucets started leaking, I had high hopes of fixing it myself. Weeks went by and I never fixed it. I quit using that sink and it stopped dripping for the most part, but then I knew that wasn't the right thing to do. Lol. On a hunch, I figured the valves needed replacing. So I checked it out myself, but then when I looked online at what Home Depot and Lowes and a couple of other places had for new valves, I got discouraged. So while my girls were in the online portion of their hybrid classes during COVID-19 on 4/23/21, I made a call at 12:23 to the first local plumber that showed up in my Yelp app... Downey Plumbing. I didn't even realize until after I hired them that they offered a pretty sweet Yelp deal: $100 for $150. Marcus and his helper, Will, showed up a little before 2PM. They left to get parts from their warehouse for a short while, then came back to make the repair and ensure the leak was nonexistent. The duo left by 3:30PM. They wore shoe covers every time they came in and of course masks. Labor was $120 per hour for which I was charged only one. The two valves came out to $36 as I requested for both the hot and cold sides to be changed. There was a lot of calcium and lime, etc. built up. After using the Yelp deal via my mobile, my ending total was $9.60. Pretty dang competitive if you ask me AND I'm more than happy to support FAMILY-OWNED, LOCAL businesses especially during a pandemic. Anytime we have plumbing or A/C & Heater issues, we call these guys.     We weren't having any issues this time around, just some regular maintenance on our A/C unit.  Tyler was beyond helpful, explained everything to me, made some observations about the unit, made a suggestion that I went with, and it probably saved me $ down the road.    We've depended on them for years and have never had any issues with them. All the guys that have come over are courteous and professional. They give a decent window, usually 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours to show. We've even had guys call to say that they were running late or on their way.     When working, they are always eager to show me what they are doing, why, and how often it should be done. All the guys usually don't mind answering questions about what they are doing.     Prices are competitive, but I've learned when it comes this type of work, you get what you pay for. And these guys know their stuff, so I don't mind paying. (They usually send coupons in the mail.)    Next week they'll be here to descale our tankless water heater. I almost look forward to them coming out again. LOL. read more
