We had beeeeen trying to get my mom to get central air and heating (HVAC system)...at least an updated one. Finally, she relented and called Cal Water to inquire about her home warranty on the AC and heating. She needed the AC fixed before that trusty California heat hit. Cal Water uses Downey Plumbing for plumbing and HVAC. They sent a work order to Downey Plumbing who contacted my mom to set up a time to come and assess her system. Upon assessment, they advised her that the system she had was too old...it had been installed a year after I graduated from high school! Yikes! Definitely time for a new system. Unfortunately, Cal Water only covered repairs, not a replacement system. My mom decided to go on and have the whole thing replaced. Juan, the installer came out on 03/03 and 03/04 to replace the system. They were originally scheduled to come a day earlier, but due to a family emergency, they needed to reschedule. They were very professional and let us know ahead of time, which was not a problem, at all. They came on time over a two day period. They installed the heater first on Tuesday and then came on Wednesday to install the AC. Each day, they said what they were working on and after installation, they went through the whole system to make sure that she understood everything. She's very pleased with the results and they also cleaned up everything after they finished. This was a fantastic company to work with! read more

Gas company determined there were multiple gas leaks they were not able to identify. Had no choice but to shut off gas. HomeServe contracted Downey plumbing. Rodrigo came same day was able to locate another leak. He came back to review further with Alicia next business day. They found multiple gas leaks under the house. After approval an appt was scheduled next business day. Rodrigo and Alicia came back replaced pipes that distributed gas inside the house. They were determined to get gas inside the house, which they delivered. Day two was to finish up and fix the gas line to the dryer in the garage. Very happy with the job. I would never call Downey Plumbing for a plumbing issue. However, HomeServe (insurance through California Water Company) uses them for claims. Downey Plumbing literally expended over $3,000 on 4 service calls to determine that there was a leak exactly where I told them it was (because we had investigated before calling insurance) and exhausted my coverage so I still have to undertake the repair on my own. They are all about the up-sell rather than efficient management of the problem. They are expensive and inefficient - no thank you. read more

We just had Samuel and Steve at our house to fix a water leak in our kitchen ceiling. When we first noticed the leak, we thought it was a water pipe in our upstairs bathroom that was causing the leak. However Samuel and Steve checked our water meter and said that we were not losing water and they concluded that it was the wax toilet seal that was leaking. They installed a new toilet seal and did a great job. They were very professional and did a fantastic job. read more

Our a/c unit stopped working when we opened shop this Monday. I had to close our business for the day because airconditioning is a must in our service (spa).Tried calling other vendors but almost everyone were not available. Operators were courteous and they even gave me a call an hour before the technician was to arrive. My technician was Luis. Their estimate came out more expensive than anybody elses. He explained all the methods the company would carry out in case of mild, moderate, or severe roots in the pipes. He wasn't there to find any leaks but we did have that ongoing issue.
