Just went to DPot yesterday! Such a fun AYCE lunch experience for a really reasonable price. The chicken karaage and fried pork belly were a great way to start off. We also ordered the steamed stacker, with half beef and half pork belly. It was absolutely delicious. My friend and I got the pork broth and two each of the chuck roll and pork belly, while we walked over to their vast array of options to add into your broth. They also had a DIY sauce section. By the time we walked back to our seats, all our food was out and ready to go! Suffice to say, service was incredibly fast. The meal ended up being really tasty, as expected. Saw this place on TikTok and now I'm obsessssed! Definitely my top AYCE shabu spot right now. It's located in a small shopping center and the restaurant itself is pretty big and nice. The service has been great every time we go too. The meat and veggie options are standard to me- I wish they had spinach but it's not a dealbreaker. They also have a lot of sauces! And the sauces are good. But what I love the most is their side options. The fried pork belly is sooo good!! I crave that and it's so crispy. And the steamed meat is also delicious. As far as meat is concerned I thought the quality was very good. There is also an option which arrives in a box and has already been steamed for you. Worth a try! Visited dPot with my family on a Saturday afternoon for their all-you-can-eat shabu. We were a party of seven, and to our surprise, there was no wait, and we were seated immediately. Although we were seated near the back, where servers frequently walked by, they NEVER checked on us. It was frustrating to have to walk up to a server each time we needed to order more meat or get water refills--about eight times in total. First time at this popular Korean Shabu place. We were a party of 5 and on a Friday night had to only wait 15 mins for a table. They have a nice selection of meats and a nice bar for all the veggies, seafood and noodles for your Shabu. The first chicken was great tasting although a bit fatty. The best meat was topper. Really nice and tender, followed by the ribeye. We tried the half and half stacker. No one in our party was a fan of the stalker. Fairly fatty. I must have had 3 orders of the topper by myself. Dinner is about $34 a person. Our server was a young man who was very attentive to our needs and explained everything to us patiently. I tried the spicy ponzu sauce and the sesame sauce. We checked out dPot for the first time yesterday with a couple friends. Normally our family goes to All That Shabu, but I found dPot's concept interesting given the typical shabu meat options and what they call meat stackers. The vegetable/self-serve station is noticeably smaller and lackluster compared to other AYCE places in the OC, so I was disappointed. There's also a sauce station but again, options are limited. It is nice tho that you have a diverse set of broths to choose from. I opted for spicy pork, which offers a good balance of flavor. The meat quality was excellent, especially the top blade, rib eye, and wagyu beef. The meat stackers were a bit disappointing. You can choose from all beef, all pork, or half of each. If you eat it by itself, there isn't any flavor and most likely you'd want to dip it into your sauces. A little salt would go a long way, and would help distinguish it from the shabu meats. So I don't really see a meaningful taste difference between the meat stackers and shabu meats. The appetizer options include crispy pork belly, chicken karaage, rice, and porridge. The first two are quite good, although my husband found the pork belly too salty. You can also choose cold soba noodles or cold Korean noodles. I was most pleasantly surprised by the soba noodles- perfectly bouncy texture with a bonito-flavored broth, and topped with seaweed, scallions, and radish. Service was quite good and several servers came by frequently to take away empty plates and take our additional orders. Overall the food was good. Not sure I'd return tho, given that I still prefer All That Shabu for its sheer variety. read more

Dpot does a great comfort shabu that's korean inspired. My friend and I both got the prime chuck top blade for our meat, got the veggie fixings, and potato sujebi! The sujebi was an interesting texture, not quite the ones I'm used to, but it was still tasty regardless. It was a reasonable price considering all the ingredients we got, and I feel like shabu can add up at restaurants where you select the ingredients you'd like. This is our family's favorite restaurant -- we come here all the time. We used to visit even before it became AYCE. Normally, we're not big fans of AYCE-style places, but Dpot is exceptional. Their meat is always fresh and tasty, and I love the variety of their broth options. It's my kid's favorite restaurant -- he calls it his "best place," and I can see why. The prices are a bit more than your usual Shabu spot but you get A LOT of food. For the Shabu Shabu, you order step 1 (choice of meat), step 2 (choice of broth), step 3 (choice of noodles). You can add additional seafood or additional items like rice or sausage and spam for an additional price. My go to order is the AKAUSHI American style wagyu beef Chuck tender (29 dollars) with spicy Thai and fresh ramen. My husband likes the Steam Stacker where the boxes come with porridge, udon, ssam, and side dishes. My main complaint is that the service is pretty bad. It used to be really good but recently I've been ignored the entire meal service (e.g. literally trying to get their attention to pay the bill). Not an authentic Japanese shabu spot but it's a great ayce hotpot to add to the list. Standard sauces with the ponzu, goma and other added items at the sauce bar. The goma has a hint of gochuchang touch so it's slightly spicy and sweeter. They also have this mustard sauce that I liked for those mustard lovers like myself to add that extra kick in the nostrils. Meat slices are on the thinner side, not sure if you can request for thicker cuts but I didn't mind. The seafood section all looked very fresh and they made sure all the seafood were covered in ice to maintain freshness, the blue crab pieces I had were super fresh and full of meat compared other places. This is NOT an AYCE if you were wondering. It's quite pricey here example one of their meat plates are $29-39. The galbi eye is very good and soft and taste fresh. The sesame sauce is good. The one thing I didn't like was if you choose the ramen or Italian noodles because they are heavily dusted in flour and you put it in your broth it makes your whole broth cloudy and thick and taste like nothing after. They didn't have flavourful broths and only 2 options for vegetarians if you are vegetarian. I also ordered their highly recommended Kim chi pork belly pancake and was disappointed that they changed it to 4 individual Pattie's instead of 1 large pancake cut into pizza slices. This is a decently sized place with a small self serve bar. There are your typical items that you can find at any hot pot spot, but that's about it. Don't expect to get anything crazy here. The meat selection is also smaller than average, with only four selections. The meat is on the higher quality side though. The rice I was served was on the harder side. I had gotten the beef broth, which was very light (had to add salt into it). I didn't like how the sauces weren't labeled. There were only two or three options. I tried some of the spicy seafood broth and it was flavorful; I just can't have a completely spicy meal. I wish they'd add more variety to their menu than just the bare minimum. read more

We were seated quickly and provided with two dipping sauces- a sesame and a ponzu. Side of green onion and radish. Both sauces were delicious. We had the AKAUSHI American Style Wagyu Beef Chuck Tender with a mixed broth of the white and Thai. It was super flavorful and not too spicy. The shabu tower had tons of options including bok choy, broccoli corn, mushrooms, dumplings, assorted seafood and tofu. The meat was tender and just the right amount of marble. We also ordered the pork belly steak stacker- I've never had this dish before but it's kind of similar to pork bossam and I LOVE every bite. This came with porridge which was steamed inside the basket as well and was super flavorful with hints of sesame oil and some seaweed. It also came with a side of cold udon, kimchi, jalapeño onions, and this spring onion salad. On the salad there was a red sesame sauce which was sooo good. Lemony sesame and slightly spicy and one additional sauce- a radish like sesame. Eat tender and juicy and all combined perfectly!!! The waiter forgot our water a few times and my soda but he was very very nice. He apologized and offered us an extra free soda! I really enjoyed my meal here. It felt like a home cooked experience.
