Customer service was lackluster, employee didn't even make eye contact, let alone not very friendly. A few of the tables weren't stable and the restaurant was semi clean. This DQ had about 20 people working in the back making ice cream treats and of that about 15 of them were standing around and talking and screwing off and about 5 of them were actually working. Of the 20 people who work at the store they only had one cashier. We wanted to buy a birthday cake and ended up waiting in line for 20 minutes to buy one item. This store is horribly mismanaged and should be closed, or the entire staff should be fired and people who actually care about the store should be hired. read more

After reading the reviews here, either the owner doesn't care or he/she doesn't see them. The employees here are HORRIBLE! We pulled up to the drive through at 10:57. Yes they close at 11 but THEY ARE STILL OPEN TIL 11. The girl at the drive thru had a terrible attitude. She said "you know we close in 3 minutes". My thought..."and?" That means you are still open! We ordered 2 blizzards with Heath and caramel. We got to the window and a friendly kid handed us our blizzards. Behind him was the rude girl staring me down. Don't know her name but she was short with dark hair..could have been Latina. It's obvious she was not happy. We drove into the parking lot and stopped to eat. First, the cup was filled about an inch below the rim. Then as we started eating we literally had probably 5 pieces of Heath in the entire large cup and the whole bottom third was straight ice cream with no Heath or caramel. So we basically paid over $17 for attitude and a cup of vanilla ice cream. Pissed is an understatement. It's expensive enough to eat out. I would at least like to get what I pay for! We have visited this location a few times & the service is always welcoming w/ delicious treats. We ordered 3 blizzards which were Oreo brookie (Oreo's, cookies & brownies) very good. We noticed the last 2 times we went it's a smell as soon as you walk in; not sure if it's mold in building or something else. The owner of this location definitely need to get the building inspected asap. A tip: download their app for deals on food & desserts. Honestly terrible. I love Dairy Queen I really do, but this location is just terrible. The service is trash, with workers acting like it's physically killing them to work the job they themselves applied to. The blizzards are overpriced and okay; however, I just got their Strawberry Cheesecake blizzard, and it wasn't even mixed? I could see the actual physical pumps of strawberry syrup that wasn't even mixed. I myself work fast food where I have to make shakes and other kinds of desserts, it is NOT that hard to make them especially when you barely have any customers. All it takes is 20-30 seconds of blending, and what I got wasn't even remotely blended. There is seriously a reason why this specific location has a 2.3 rating, it needs to be a lower rating honestly. read more

I honestly don't know why we stop here anymore. The orders are wrong, the line is insane because for whatever stupid decision their lobby is closed all the time. Tonight is no different. Our order was wrong, had to wait beck in the lane of cars for them to only be confused from the time I tell them they gave me someone else's order and the window. She tried to charge me at the window for someone else's order and another employee had to come tell her they just talked to me about the wrong order. Just came here to treat ourselves. Went through the drive thru. And there was a hair in my son's mint Oreo blizzard. So I go inside and tell her there's a hair inside my son's ice cream. I wasn't irate or anything. Short girl curly brown hair with glasses. She didn't even apologize. I went to use the bathroom and told my son to wait for his remake. He didn't even get an upgrade or apology. She made it handed it to him and went back to making other ice creams. No apology no upgrade just ugly customer service. The girl at the drive thru was a blonde, she had her hair up but it wasn't tied she had a clip on her hair . I'm an Asian lady! My hair is not blonde it is black. Always a nice spot for a cold drink. DQ has a nice selection of cold refreshments. I don't stop at DQ often but on occasion I do enjoy an ice cream cone, malt, or blizzard The service is fast and friendly, the selection has something for everyone, and the prices are teasonable. read more

We haven't been here in a year, since they royally messed up my blizzard order. Tonight the hubby wanted a treat and I figured I'd give them another shot. We ordered small blizzards: Oreo cookie & cookie jar. What ensued after our order was taken was quite confusing and comical. First the young guy at the window (who was very polite) asked our order 3x over and proceeded to hand us our first treat. They he thanked us and started to close the window but not before we asked about our second blizzard. He asked us what we ordered again and we were like WHAT is going on in there?! That's when another young guy came to the window and apologized for all the confusion. Then he offered a free blizzard for our troubles. We finally got the free blizzard but still no second. We asked for the umpteenth time and then they handed us our final order and all was right with the world. Best part was mine was packed full of goodness and absolutely delicious! read more

I don't understand why this Dairy Queen can't mix their blizzards. Every time we go there we have to come home and pour our blizzards into a blow and mix them ourselves. My son and I both got blizzards again tonight and both needed to be mixed before they could be eaten. If not, by the time you get to the bottom it's pure vanilla. It's very frustrating because you have to make it home quickly so it doesn't start to melt since you can't even begin to start eating it in the car as you wouldn't have your toppings/flavors by the time you get 1/4 of the way through it. We live nearby and we like a treat a couple of times a month but it's irritating that we always have to finish mixing before we can eat. This has to be one of the worse DQ's I've ever been too. The store lobby was closed, because a customer on purpose flooded the bathroom. That was awful and I'm sorry that the employees had to clean up that mess. Since the drive thru was open we walked through it and asked the employee at the window if we could order and she said absolutely no. Not allowed. I asked the manager and she was so nice (even after having to clean up the dining room). She told us of course we could order, so we did. I just figured all the employees were a little tired at 9:00 pm and not happy with the mess they had to cleanup in the dining room, so I looked past the rudeness at the drive thru window. The reason for the poor review is really for how they treated us at 10:30 pm. We were sitting outside enjoying our shakes when an employee mumbles that we have to leave and they are bringing in the one table and two chairs. Ok, fine.... understandable. We go next door to pick up an item at Walmart and come back and the chair and table are still outside. They were just being rude and upset that the manager approved our walk up order and wanted us to leave. Drinks, and food were great, but a few of their employees need some customer service training. Let me start off by saying that I've never had a bad experience at this particular Dairy Queen before, and I'm usually not one to post about stuff like this because my opinion isn't worth all that much as a stranger, but the experience I had to endure on 8-17-23 has me seriously appalled and I felt that I needed to put it out there. So my boyfriend and I decided to go to into Dairy Queen a couple nights ago to enjoy some ice cream before we went home, and immediately when we walked in, noticed how loud and obnoxious the employees were talking and cackling with each other right behind the counter in the front of the store-- not paying any mind to the fact that customers had just walked in. But mind you, there was already another couple dining in at one of the tables in the front of the store, so it wasn't any secret that there were other people in the building that could hear them. One guy took our order pretty quickly, and he was very kind and respectful, another girl was actually cleaning off tables and such when we already got there. Neither of those two are of the employees that made this experience awful as they were honestly the only ones doing their job, as far as we could tell. But anyways, a little after we got our order and sat down to eat, their loud conversation got even progressively louder, and ended up having the topic of abortions. I know what you're probably thinking, "it's their opinion, they can think whatever they want." And you're absolutely correct; however, their conversation on behalf of abortions was not even the political debate on recent abortion laws... they were simply laughing and making jokes about women getting abortions for certain reasons, or how they believe abortions should be mandatory because they're "team F*** them kids," etc.. Normally I would've brushed it off and left it alone, but it just seems like such an odd topic to miraculously stumble upon after a customer (me) who was wearing a relatively fitted shirt, and very clearly 6 months pregnant had JUST walked into the store. Regardless of who was in the store or not, though, it was highly inappropriate and unprofessional on their behalf, and if they wanted to have discussions like that, they should've been a bit more discreet about it seeing as thought it could be a pretty sensitive topic for a lot of people. I really hope this review gets seen by management because the pure ignorance that these damn employees have is astronomically insane for people who are supposed to be working in retail/customer service. Again, never had an issue here before, but this group of teens had me so uncomfortable and embarrassed to even be in public. Management, do better. read more

Great service provided by friendly servers! Tucked inside a strip mall on Reems Road, Surprise, there is a Dairy Queen. At first, I wondered if it only served sweet treats. I was picking dinner for my family. My son had requested a mint malt from Dairy Queen. But my husband and I wanted something more substantial. I ordered 2 pulled pork sandwiches served up with a light touch of barbecue sauce, pickles and onion on a robust pretzel bun that did not disintegrate with the sauce. I enjoyed the grilled chicken sandwich with lettuce, tomato a light sauce in ciabatta. There were no tempting fries. The mint malt was terrific as usual. Knowing that I was going to take it home, my server cheerfully chimed, "I will make the malt last after your sandwiches are ready." Service was stellar and the food was satisfying. Me and my ex-husband Darrel enter the drive thru for our 7 year old son, my son orders an oreo blizzard. We get up to the window to pay then receive our treat but what we see in the window is a different sight. A store being ran by ALL TEENAGERS. Children making my child food seems absolutely OUTRAGEOUS. Seeing teens run the store makes me upset but I get 10x MORE upset when I see a taller looking blonde girl shouting with her co-workers, (who were guys not to mention, she might be shouting like this for validation) yes this girl seems stressed and overwhelmed but she should just get it together!!! That's how life works! Just get your damn crap together and stop screaming!!! First off, eating at an unsanitary fast food joint can be a real gamble, you know? If the place isn't up to par with cleanliness, there's a higher risk of getting sick from the food. Bacteria and germs can spread easily in dirty environments, leading to foodborne illnesses. It's better to play it safe and choose places that prioritize hygiene to avoid any stomach-turning surprises. Also, shown in one of the pictures below, having random wires and holes in a fast food joint is a recipe for disaster! Those wires can be tripping hazards, causing accidents for both customers and staff. And don't even get me started on the holes - they can attract pests like mice and bugs, making it a health hazard. It's super important for fast food places to keep things tidy and safe to avoid any unwanted surprises. Not only was this bad, but there were also many holes in the ceiling! Unexceptionable as can be there was also an employee NOT wearing gloves when cutting up bananas to put in the freezer! Went in at 8 o'clock on a Wednesday night to get a cake for my son's birthday the following day. Politely asked the cashier if someone could write happy birthday on it for my son. She stated that no one was available to write on it. I asked why not-she said they were all working the drive-through. I said if they were busy working the drive-through at the moment, I could wait until they had a break in the action. She stated that because it was 8 o'clock at night and busy, there was not going to be anyone available for the rest of the night available to write on the cake at all. Again stated that the cake was for my son and I would really appreciate if someone could write happy birthday on it and I had time to stay to see if things could calm down enough for somebody to write on it. I downloaded Yelp solely to leave this review, and let me start by saying that I am not a complainer. Having worked in fast food for five years in college, I've experienced some mind-blowing customer requests, but this particular Dairy Queen location takes the cake for being the worst run Dairy Queen I have ever been to. I can't even begin to explain how many times I've gotten my order in the drive-thru, only to taste it and find that it's wrong, and then be gaslit and told that I'm the one in the wrong. It's gotten to the point where I have to defend myself every time there's something wrong with my order. But tonight was the last straw. I walked up to the store at 8:40 PM, along with three other people, only to find that the doors were locked. On the door, in bright black and white, it stated that the lobby was open until 9 PM. I was shocked - this was the fourth time I had tried to walk in and get my ice cream instead of waiting in a 30-minute drive-thru line. I politely waved someone down and asked why the lobby was closed when it was not yet 9 PM. He replied that there was a huge spill that had made them shut down the lobby. I asked, "Why would that close the whole lobby down?" He didn't have an answer and instead pivoted to saying that they were understaffed. I told him, "I understand that you are understaffed, but that does not mean you can close before the correct time on your signs." He awkwardly apologized and closed the door. I told him I was going to be reporting this incident. This is not the first time I've had a bad experience at this Dairy Queen. Two visits ago, I had to get my ice cream remade three times. On the fourth try, when it was still wrong, the girl frustratingly said, "I have a line, can't you just take the hot fudge in a cup?" I agreed to it because it seemed like it didn't matter what I said. I don't have a problem with teenagers working and running a store, but when it becomes a place that cuts corners and doesn't serve customers like people, it becomes a serious issue. And the staff at this location are all young. I've never been able to talk to a manager, and the phone is never answered. In fact, there was even one time when I was denied the opportunity to return an ice cream that was given to me wrong, and was told that I had to pay for a new one. I fought tooth and nail to avoid having to pay for it, all for a simple ice cream treat. People come to Dairy Queen to enjoy their treats, and the poor customer service at this location is ruining the experience for many of us. ZERO STARS read more

This is a very popular Dairy Queen. Luckily we are early eaters and snackers so we tend to miss the long lines. Like other reviewers mentions they do have a lot of turn over and new faces here. New or not they are always friendly. We never have eaten here, but we do dessert here often. Our tots prefer a fruity Julius. My husband likes the Oreo Blizzards. This evening he changed it up and tried their Brownie and Oreo Cupfection. It was great to have the treats combined with the ice cream to break up the sweetness. He doesn't care for as much sweetness as most. He gets enough from us! Haha So next time he will be ordering it minus the chocolate syrup to make it a Cupfection for his taste. I do not get treats very often but they do have a popcicle type treat called a Star Kiss. Shaped like a star on a stick this cherry treat has a creamy consistency rather than just a plain popcicle type ice texture. Warning eat alone when you are planning not to be seen. If you are not careful you will look like The Joker with a deep red/orange smile that stays with you quite a long time. I learned this the hard way once while camping with friends. Tonight there were a couple af kids scooting through the drive thru getting treats. If you see them rolling dont be hating or patrolling because they aren't there to be riding dirty. So....a new Dairy Queen just opened up in Surprise. Score! I made my way down here today to check out the new digs! Everything was brand new and extremely nice! The interior has a decent amount of tables, as well as some plush chairs/couches to sit and eat your ice cream. I went with a Large Hot Fudge Sundae. My total was just over $4.00. I took my sundae to go and ate it in my car. Here is how it was......... Hot Fudge Sundae- Well, Dairy Queen likes to keep things simple, I guess. I was expecting some nuts, whipped cream, cherry etc. Nope. This thing had ice cream and hot fudge, only! Hey..nothing wrong with that. I am a simple man most of the time. I was just expecting more (Also goes to show how many times I have been to an actual Dairy Queen...would have probably known if I had ever ordered it before) from a hot fudge sundae. Was it good? YES! It was extremely good! The ice cream they use was incredibly smooth and not too rich. They use a TON of hot fudge! It wasn't overly sweet either. We stopped in today with our grandkids to get ice cream with our granddaughter for her birthday. The store was empty so we walked right up to order. It appears clean, and organized. We ordered 4 mini blizzards, 1 blizzard, one ice cream cone and one strawberry ice cream Half of our order came out right away. After about 8 minutes we didn't see anyone and the other half of the order was still missing. No one had been at the counter for several minutes. My DIL stood up there for about 3-4 minutes and finally saw someone and told them half of the order was still missing. They apologized and went back and made the missing orders. By that time others were already done though and the birthday girl got hers last. The up side though, her mom had told them it was her birthday so they added all sorts of goodies to her ice cream for her. She was pleased with that as you might expect. This is the worst DQ location ive ever been to. If i could give 0 stars, I would. I can't even count the amount of bad experiences we've had here. The staff needs to either be fully replaced or completely retrained. We are constantly being given the wrong order, they are ALWAYS closing the lobby too early for bogus reasons, and one time the worker DROPPED my ice cream, caught it with his bare hand and still tried to give it to me and was ANNOYED that I wanted them to remake it.
