Not long ago I found myself in need of a new dentist. I had badly chipped a tooth in a freak accident that in many circumstances I would be required to wear a helmet from that point moving forward. With a massively swollen lip and a smile reserved for second string Ukrainian hockey players I end up at the office of Dr. Jon Vongschaphen (colorfully referred to as Dr. Jon by friends and patients). Dr. Jon has a clean and modern waiting room and exam areas. I was quite impressed with the latest gadgetry he proficiently utilized to exam and repair my tooth. From special tools that measure enamel thickness audibly to huge flatsceens and mini cameras so I too could see in my mouth I felt like this must be what Bill Gates' office would look like if he was a dentist. I was never in pain and when there was a chance of pain one of his assistants gently held my hand and caressed my shoulder. Amazing service to say the least! I was in and out with a quickness and when it came to pay I was pleasantly surprised (I am self employed and at the time had no health insurance). OK I am deathly afraid of the dentist...palms start to sweat... They were super nice here, Dr Jon is very kind and very thorough. Because of past experiences we often perceive the dentist as a negative stigma. Give this place a try if you hate the dentist like I do. Visits are fast, and during the procedure he tells you what you will be feeling (pressure) or (sting) and lets you know what's coming. So no surprises! Which helps with the feared anticipation. I have seen well over a dozen dentists but was never satisfied. Stayed with a few for years due to convenience and fear of going from ok to a worst dentist. There are all types of dentists out there, I encountered a few that just wanted the $$. Unfortunately I did not realize till years later and after thousands of dollars out of pocket. I found Dr. Jon after months of online search, you'd think I was searching for some type of transplant. During my first visit I had no expectations as I didn't want to be disappointed. Until I met Dr. Jon and his staff I never had a good experience with the dentist. If something could go wrong during a dental procedure it would happen to me. I was so terrified about the thought of having to go I put off my care for over 10 years. I wish I could have been introduced to Jon and his staff sooner! From the very first visit I was put at ease. Jon and his staff are AMAZING. When you're in for a cleaning or any other procedure they make you feel like you are their only patient and focus all of their attention on YOU. Jon and Heather (his assistant) sit with you from the time you sit down until the "Marinade" kicks in (novacaine :) and until you're done with the procedure. You're never left alone. They're constantly asking if you're comfortable and won't continue until you are. If you're the least bit timid about going to the dentist see Jon. I've been a patient of his for 6 years and have had just about every tooth in my mouth worked on. I've never had a bad visit. I actually get excited about going! He doesn't just fix cavities. I decided to visit Dr. Jon after reading all the great reviews. I have a fear of going to the dentist and avoided it for 8 years. I wish I would have met him sooner! My visit was the most positive experience I've ever had at a dental office. Everyone at the office is amazingly kind, easy to talk to and makes your visit as pleasant as possible. On top of the new high tech equipment, you get to relax in a massaging chair and watch television while they work on you. I had my first visit at Dr. Jon's today and from first impression to last I was very impressed. The front office ladies were very welcoming and informative. The doctor's assistant Myla was knowledgeable and kind, she is quick with taking X-rays which is my least favorite part. The doctor was great, very thorough and I never felt rushed. He addressed all my questions and concerned and I can tell he is up to date on dental technology and can provide his patients with the best quality care. I went in there knowing my teeth needed a lot of work Dr. Jon went over ever digital photo (slide) he took of my teeth -- he wasn't like the other dental offices. If you are nervous about the dentist, then you NEED to visit Dr. Jon and his team! They really helped with my anxiety. The administrative and dental team are very friendly when you walk in. They understood how nervous I was, and made sure I was very comfortable and relaxed. When I had some work done, they were very caring and reassuring. They gave me the option to watch Netflix, listen to music and the chair even had a back massager. They even gave me a stress ball hahha. The rooms I went into had large windows so it was nice being able to look outside. I highly recommend Dr. Jon and his team. They are knowledgeable, and every detail was explained to me. Well, I saw the 5 star review and thought this would be a good place to go to having just moved into the area with my family. I called today to make an appointment and was a little shocked. Like normal, I was asked about what insurance we have. What surprised me the most was demanding a SSN to verify insurance. Normally not a big deal, but the tone of the lady I spoke with was not all that great. I have good insurance and said I'll provide you with all my personal information when I arrive and put it on the paperwork. I did not want my SSN to be on some note pad in an office I had never been too. After sharing my concern she still demanded my information over the phone. That's when I said "how about you let me know if you even have room on your schedule to take a new person" She was very condescending about my concerns and told me to go somewhere else. So, I guess I will. I already made an appointment with another practice in Rocklin and they were just fine with me filling out the paper work when I arrived at my appointment. I felt extremely comfortable with him and his staff even though I had 2 cavities from not seeing a dentist in over 2 years. I am writing this review after having my second visit with Dr Jon. I first found him when I searched for dentist in my insurance network. He is located close to home and rated highly on yelp. My first visit was the new patient exam, (including x-rays, photos, etc) and also my cleaning, so it lasted a little longer than a normal appointment, I think. But did I mind? No! This was the most relaxing and welcoming dental office I have ever been to. I forget the assistant's name, but she was extrememly friendl. Both her and the doctor walk you through what they are doing, step by step. I came back this morning for him to fix an old filling that had broken. I got to lay back, watch TV and get a chair massage during the whole thing. What a way to get dental work done! The whole thing was done in 30 minutes and I was on my way to work. I highly recommend coming here for regular work and if you need anything more extensive done. read more

After getting $4,000 worth of fillings and crowns over the last 6 weeks I wish I could give them a rating of 100 stars. In fact, I am writing my very first Yelp review because of the incredible job they did. Like many others, I have always had an irrational fear of going to the dentist, but not anymore. Dr. Jon and his staff have completely changed that. They were so kind, gentle and quick that I am proud to say I no longer fear going to the dentist. From my very first visit, Dr. Jon was completely honest and to the point about every procedure I was to have done. There were no surprises. None. All I had to do was lay back in a massage chair and watch T.V. while they rebuilt my mouth. I never once felt rushed and they constantly asked me if I was okay or if I needed a break. When I told Dr. Jon that I was petrified and that I wanted to be as numb as possible he listened. Besides the slight pinch of the needle that numbed me I never felt any pain. When I walked into Dr. Jon's office for the first time I was a trembling, terrified and an emotional wreck. As others have said I hate going to the dentist and after reading the reviews I decided to give Dr. Jon a try after not seeing a dentist for over 3 years. I went for my first appointment and even though I may not have seemed like it when I was leaving I couldn't have been happier. I have a lot of work that needs to get done but they are willing to work at my pace to make me comfortable. They also have a lot of different options as far as payments go and I couldn't be happier with that as well. I went to Dr. Jon for a large chip on a front-upper tooth because of his background in cosmetic dentistry and reviews online. I was not disappointed! My tooth had been chipped 15 years ago and repaired three times over the years by another dentist as the dental bond came off periodically. However, my tooth has not looked this good since it was all original! I was surprised at how quick Dr. Jon was able to set up the bond and shape it perfectly to look like a natural tooth again. Just had one of my better experiences with fillings. Dr. Jon was careful, quick and professional. The anesthetic finally wore off and I'm hardly sore, I even brushed and flossed with minimal discomfort less than five hours later. Jons office, where deborah answered and was AMAZINGLY NICE helped me and then said for me not to worry and got me in that day to take a look at a tooth that was bothering me. First Visit to Dr. Jon's Dental was a breeze! I usually loathe going to the dentist and subjecting myself to the torture, but this wasn't the case at all here! The Staff there is amazing! I initially called them to have a chipped tooth looked at, they got me in, addressed the tooth, and filled a cavity next to it, in about an hour. The work looks outstanding too! Dr. Jon and everyone that works there are FABULOUS! I don't really have a problem going to to the dentist, but its not necessarily the highlight of my day either. Dr. Jon and employees make you feel as comfortable as possible. I went for my 6 month check up and he found a baby cavity (which was my first one so I was really upset...I'm almost 24 so I pride myself in having great teeth). When the cavity filling day came i was SUPER nervous...pretty much iin tears (lame huh?) haha anyway! Dr. Jon took the time to answer my questions and to reassure me that it was going to be a smooth procedure and over before I knew it. He told me he could stop at anytime during the filling if I needed too. Overall, the comfort and ease at Dr. Jon's is outstanding. I am writing this after my first visit. I chose Dr. Jon because of his Yelp! reputation, and I am happy to say that I was not disappointed. On walking in the door, I noticed that everything was clean if not new and that carries throughout the office. Being in a well-maintained office goes a long way to building my confidence in any service provider. The office staff was very friendly and attentive -- all smiles. I'm not a chatty guy, but found myself being chatty with everyone there. The exam was thorough (in fact, beyond any I've had in the past) and all of Dr. Jon's equipment was high tech... this means faster, more detailed examinations and less x-ray exposure. I'm very VERY glad I found you guys. Update 2017: These guys have been the best dental providers I have ever had. I am new to the area and finding a new dentist is a scary undertaking. I heavily rely on Yelp to guide me for a lot of things, including dentists. I tried someone close to my house that I just didn't really like. Especially when I broke off part of my tooth and I was told about the extensive repair work and cost. I saw Dr Jon for a second opinion and I'm ever so thankful I did. The office staff, assistance and most of all the doctor, are all extremely nice, knowledgeable and competent!
