Everything was superb. From the speedy service to the drinks and food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Went on a Friday night and it fills up pretty quickly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our waiter explained all the specials and kept our waters filled. All our dishes were amazing and even tried something new. The Che' Carlos was worth every bite and had a sauce that we afterwards dipped everything into. Just got back from Peru where we ate up a storm. We always knew Peruvian food here was great, but now we know for sure the food here is just as good rivaling their homeland. Dr Limon's ceviches, causas, chaufas, and ají de gallina were top notch. The service was quick and friendly. I went with my mom to Dr Limon for my favorite ceviche! It was fresh and delicious, with just the right amount of fish. Looks are deceiving because it doesn't look like it's a large amount of food, but it is large enough to share. We also ordered the arroz chaufa with chicken. This was superb! Flavorful without being overly salty and there is more than enough to share. The surprise treat was the passionfruit creme brulee. I don't like passionfruit, but this was delicious! Creamy and not overly sweet...definitely hit the spot! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Service was great and the ambiance was comfortable and trendy, with some great tunes![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I am so glad Dr Limon is close to my mom's house (right across the street from FIU). First time eating at a Dr. Limón and it did not disappoint! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is small but tables are spaced out enough to not seem overcrowded. It is nicely decorated and has more of a casual dinning ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] From the start the service was great. Our server explained the specials and gave us suggestions when ordering. She made sure to mention if something was spicy or had an ingredient worth mentioning. We had drinks to start. I ordered a traditional Pizco sour which is a drink Peru is known for. It was a great cocktail, it had a nice taste and it had that alcohol kick. My daughter ordered a passion fruit pizco and she loved it too. My husband had what is called a coconut lemonade which in non alcoholic. It was very refreshing. For food we had a ceviche called "Psychiatrist". It had fish, shrimp and octopus and it was delicious. It had a little spice and had the perfect lime balance that a ceviche should have. We also had a seafood grill which was a dish with shrimp, white fish, calamari, octopus and mussels. It came with an ají sauce and leche de tigre sauce which was spicy. The grilled seafood was perfectly cooked and the spices delicious. My husband and I shared both and the portions were just right. My daughter had a ceviche in a soy and sesame sauce. It had a perfect balance taste of citric and soy. The prices were between $18-30 but the portions and quality of food is worth it. We will definitely be returning.

As always, fantastic food and service at Dr. Limon! [[HIGHLIGHT]]While visiting upon opening, the dining room was quite busy an hour later.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had the usual Remedio Casero Mix, and added the Messi Roll along w wine and a sangria. The ceviche was fresh and energizing. The Messi Roll was rich and full of flavor w nice layer of crab topping. I finished up w a cortadito for dessert. The staff is warm and helpful, and very patient w my hacking thru the espanol language. An added bonus was our upbeat chat with manager Carla.

This restaurant was a total disappointment and a straight-up rip-off. I ordered a Lomo Saltado with rice listed for $20, but my bill showed $32 for something called Trilogía Peruana -- which turned out to be a ball of rice, one potato, and three tiny pieces of lomo. When I questioned it, the staff couldn't explain why. The waiters clearly didn't understand what we ordered and kept suggesting random items without warning us about the prices. A glass of sangria was $18, mostly ice with barely any drink. But the worst was the ceviche. I asked for a simple one and got a bowl of overly spicy soup with a few fish chunks and five fried octopus slices -- and they charged $26 for it, while the giant ceviche sampler costs only $35! It makes no sense at all. After checking online, I found out this place is actually known for overcharging customers, and now I believe it. Between the confusion, inflated prices, and poor service, this was one of the worst dining experiences I've had. Avoid this place -- they take advantage of people.

Went there for lunch and it was a good experience. I've been to the other Dr. Limon location. My ceviche had a lot of shrimp and I think it was a good value for ceviche. The staff was really nice and helpful. My server was very knowledgeable about the menu. The two cons why I have this place a 4 rather than a 5: - the tuna in my opinion had too much different flavors going on. I think it would've benefitted if the white sauce was excluded - I think the menu should make it more transparent that if you order ceviche with just shrimp it'll cost more (I don't remember the specific numbers but I think it went from $21 to $27) Other than that, I had a good experience. I'll come back to try more stuff.

We thoroughly enjoyed our food at Dr. Limon. I appreciated all the little details. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Every table immediately welcomes you with a fresh lime (the lime didn't stay at our table and left us longing for some).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When our server arrived we were greeted with what was basically a pureed ceviche, which altbough it was a bit salty was absolutely delicious, and I recommend topping a tostone with some of this stuff. They also brought out some roasted corn kernels to nibble on. Our server was very friendly and helpful eith understanding the menu items. We ordered the Lomo Saltado, a Morongo plate, and a seafood plate. Everything was absolutely delicious. I loved all the attention to detail. The food was beautifully served, ingredients were fresh, and the portions were generous. I recommend giving their Cucumber mule a try because it was refreshing and just perfect. If alcohol is not your thing, ai was also pleased to find that they served Inca Cola, and they also have a delicious fresh frozen lemonade. For dessert we tried the suspiro al Limon. It reminded me alot of cooked condensed milk with a thin layer of a whipped cream and sprinkled with some cinnamon. It wasn't my favorite but it was nice to try. We can't wait to come back and try new foods.

Absolutely delicious! Service was friendly, and the food was made to perfection. Sangria was the perfect amount of sweet, and well balanced w the rest. The menu had plenty of offerings, something for everyone in my opinion. Highly recommend the main entree of El Tunche - a delicious combination of Mofungo, mahi mahi and a coconut cream sauce. We also devoured the crab salad tostones. Really glad my family and I gave this a try.

After eating at Dr. Limon last night, I just have one question: How did I go so long without Peruvian food?! This meal was an exciting, flavorful experience from start to finish, and I'm grateful for the massive portions because it means I get to enjoy it all as leftovers today! I tried the Shrimp Causas to start, and it was unreal! Super flavorful with just a hint of spice to add some bite to the creamy, delicious sauce. For my entree I had the risotto special with octopus and shrimp, and WOW did that blow me away! The risotto was incredibly creamy and cheesy, and the octopus and shrimp were well-seasoned and very tender. My mom had the Beef Chaufas and I was pleasantly surprised to find it was really, really good because at first glance it looked like your typical Latin take on Asian fried rice, which I often find to be a bit dry. Our waiter Luis was very kind and helpful, making great recommendations for my first time and describing every item I asked about in detail. My only regret for this meal was that I didn't save room for dessert! The portions here are massive, so I highly recommend coming with a group and sharing entrees and apps so you can enjoy a bit of everything. Though, coming solo isn't a bad idea - just be prepared for leftovers!

Absolutely delicious Peruvian cuisine! For appetizers, we had the Causa Variety Platter, it had delicious creamy, layered potatoes topped with delicious toppings. Then we ordered a jalea. This crispy seafood plate was served with a dipping sauce. The seafood was perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Lomo Saltado with Tacu Tacu in Ají de Gallina Sauce: Although not on the menu, they graciously prepared this combination for us, and it was absolutely worth it! The beef was tender and flavorful, paired perfectly with the ají de gallina sauce and the unique tacu tacu, which had a fantastic texture. We also ordered shrimp truffle Sushi Roll that was a unique take on sushi with Peruvian flavors. We also enjoyed a refreshing fruit smoothie, which was the ideal complement to our meal. We visited on a Wednesday night, and no reservation was needed for party of 3, which made for a relaxing evening. Highly recommend this spot if you're craving authentic Peruvian flavors for a good price!

First time dinning out after quarantine. I called to reserve and made sure we had outdoor seating. The restaurant had a few people inside but non outside. People going inside were required temperature checks. The staff was wearing masks and they are using disposable cups and cutlery. My table was not sanitized before sitting but I was told by the hostess that it had been cleaned previously. I just wanted to make sure since a lot of people, non restaurant customers, walk through the area. Service was very pleasant but food did take a while to come out. We started with our ceviche sampler but for some reason it did not seem as fresh as usual. I believe the octopus was bad. I've dined here many times and it's my usual place for take-out so I'm very familiar with the flavors. We decided to package the rest of the foo to-go since the flies were driving us crazy. Our server was super helpful with this and also listen to our concern regarding the ceviche and gave us a new batch to go with fish only no octopus. It was definitely different, the fish was much fresher like it usually is. I am happy that I went out but ultimately ended eating at home. I am also glad that the servers and manager were concerned and tried to make my experience better. I will definitely keep ordering take out! read more

I haven't been to this restaurant in a long time, but I decided to place a to-go order for dinner on a weeknight. You can easily order through their website, although it does prompt you to create a username/login. I got my usual, the fried ceviche, and this time I decided to try the Sudado de Pescado which is like a fish stew served with white rice. I almost forgot that this restaurant offers outdoor seating so I was surprised to see so many people outside when I approached. Everyone working inside was wearing masks and my order was ready when promised. The fried ceviche was as good as ever. The fish dish was very good and flavorful, but not as good as Cvi.che 105 downtown. I could be wrong, but this one tasted like it was made with tilapia which is not my favorite white fish. For these two dishes, my order came out to $30, which is what I would expect to pay for seafood of this quality. read more

This is one of the best Peruvian meals I have had in a very long time. The place doesn't take reservations and sometimes the wait can be long but honestly, if it's not too hot outside, it's totally worth it. We were told that we needed to wait 30 minutes but in fact it was a lot less than that. The service is really great with everyone being really friendly and attentive. Our waiter was also really helpful when we asked questions about menu items. The place is a bit small so it can get a bit loud but it doesn't take away from the overall great experience. Every dish that we got was really tasty. We started with the crab tostones and the causa de tuna - the tostones were beautifully fried and the crab with that sauce was spot on. They are pretty large for appetizers so it was a bit filling. The causa was also large and it was incredibly tasty - one of the best causas I have had. For main dishes we got the ceviche sampler which was amazing - the leche de tigre and fiebre amarilla were the highlights. We also got the lomo saltado for a break from the seafood streak and also the chupe de camarones. I loved the lomo saltado and it was really large so we took some home. The sauce was amazing and I loved how the potatoes and rice were drenched in it. The chupe was good but not sure I would get it again - I wish the soup was thicker and had more cheese in it. To round off the meal we got the guava creme brûlée Whig was good though I would have definitely preferred the passion fruit. We had also ordered the chicha morada and it was really really good - another definite highlight. Can't wait to come back again! read more

I LOVE this place. Both this location and the one near the hammocks are amazing. Every time I've dined at Dr. Limon I am left full and extremely satisfied. The portion sizes are great too, you'll probably end up with delicious leftovers! The ceviche I had was unbelievable. The sushi? Incredible. I've also never had a causa before and didn't know what to expect. It was great, the texture was nice, the flavors hit the spot. The service is also very attentive!! MASK ISSUE WITH SUSHI CHEF. I placed an order via Seamless/Grubhub on a weekday at 5:45. Eta was 7pm. I tried calling and the mailbox is full. By 8PM I knew something was wrong. I had to personally drive there to pick it up. The problem was apparently an unplugged cable but putting this here in case you order deliver and are unable to drivebas flavor was still good. IMPORTANT MASK ISSUE WITH CHEF: As I waited inside everyone wore their masks correctly... except the woman making sushi. It was WAY under her nose. I say way in caps because she was a shouter when she talks, so the top part would reach her lip edge which I could see. I said nothing as she is standing in the middle of the restaurant where the sushi bar is, surrounded by colleagues and Boss so what could I say? The emperor wears no mask read more

Went for dinner and tried the 4 sample ceviche and they were all so delicious we drank the juices too. They gave us three usual ones of traditional, rocoto, and leche de Tigre, but we switched out the fourth one for a unique option which was the anestésico. They were amazing. So much flavor and so fresh. They also give complementary leche de Tigre shots while deciding on what to order. The staff is super friendly and the food is incredible. read more

I do not eat any seafood or fish at all so it took my wife some time to convince me to come her. Well, actually she bribed me by bringing me home their delicious caramel flan which was really great - and I am an expert when it comes to flan. So, one night we went together and I was extremely positively surprised. The place itself is very small in a shopping plaza next to FIU. Their decoration is all about the detail - very well done. I had the Lomo Saltado which tasted great and was a decent serving. I didn't even eat the rice because there was so much protein. I tried my wife's passion fruit juice which I am normally not a fan of but it tasted great and was refreshing. Service was great, too. They have a Yelp Check-In offer where you get a free dessert and of course, I opted for the phenomenal flan. read more

I order the Cholo Calato Ceviche and it's always perfect in Taste! Has a crispy fried outter part, but the inside is nothing but heaven! Juicy and cold in the inside and crispy on the outside! Perfect combination! Also, you could never go wrong with a Lomo Saltado! One of Peru's delicatessens! Everything was exceptional, especially OUR CHEF HARLINGTON! I dinned at this restaurant for the first time while I was getting in town from my cruise. A friend of mine was taking me on a sightseeing tour and just so I have been recommended Peruvian food. Fast forward a few years and thanks Uber eats, the holy grail was delivered to my door step and I must say I've been missing out!!! Self declared ceviche snob ‍ this is some good ceviche. It's pronounced "Doc-tor Lee-mon" Every once in a while that hankerin' for ceviche leads me to one of my favorite restaurants in town. The menu is a who's who of popular Peruvian plates including jalea, chaufa, chupe, and causas. Each prepared fresh and full of amazing flavors. Traditional chaufas (fried rices) and jaleas (mixed fried seafood) are the way to go if you're new to Peruvian cuisine. The ceviches come in different flavors including Fiebre Amarilla (Yellow Pepper), Anestesico (Pisco), and Remedio Casero (Hot Limo Pepper); If you're not sure which you'll like they have a sampler platter that is perfect for sharing. The best thing to get here is the Eisha beach ceviche. It comes with a couple pounds of seafood in a large martini glass. It's enough to share with about 4 people. The tostones to start is also a great option. They are extremely large and filling. Make sure to share it with a table of two or four. It's topped with tuna and acevichado sauce. Super good! They also have amazing frozen lemonades. Try that too! The alcoholic beverages here are also extravagant. The service is great. The whole team is very friendly. They'll spend time explaining the menu items if needed. They also bring sauce dip to your table and are attentive in refilling your water glass which is always a plus. When it comes to authentic Peruvian food, most people think of Ceviche. We thought of just that and did not stop there. We wanted to make it a fun and enjoyable culinary experience for everyone alike and decided to launch a fresh new restaurant concept in the heart of Kendall, named after our chef and owner Carlos Brescia's nickname, Dr. Limon. Our trademark is not only a personalized service, but also a fresh menu where most of the traditional Peruvian plates have been reinvented and changed into medical terms. To complement this innovative cuisine, our guests can choose from a wide variety of wines, wine-based craft cocktails, real fruit juices, and of course... desserts! Come and try a "Ceviche Ginecologo", taste a "Sangria de Laboratorio" and top it off with a "Sobredosis de Chocolate". There is a Peruvian food revolution happening in South Florida, come and see why Dr. Limon is leading the change!

History

Established in 2015.

Our first location was established in 2012 in the heart of Kendall by Chef Carlos Brescia and partners Jose Antonio Combina & Fiorella Terrazas, Dr. Limon was creatively designed from scratch to go with the theme of a Medical institution. The creative theme, from the plates to the servers jackets, were all designed and created to go with one another in an all around real world theme. From the presentation of the plates to the logistics of handling a hot and cold kitchen, Chef Carlos Brescia and staff are known for the dedication and one-of-a-kind taste that you will experience with every plate as you indulge into your own delightful pleasure bite after bite. Since we use only the freshest ingredients available as well as helping our local farmers and product providers, our plates are accessible to every type of food enthusiast, Vegetarian, meat and fish lovers alike! Thanks to God, our loyal guests and hardworking employees we opened this second location in November 2015.

Meet the Business Owner: Carlos B.

Carlos Brescia, a.k.a. Dr. Limon, is originally from Pimentel, Chiclayo, a coastal town in the North of Peru. Living right in front of the ocean got him extremely familiarized with seafood cuisine since he was a kid, learning first to fish and then to prepare his daily catch in a variety of delicious recipes. After moving to Miami in 2000, Carlos finally introduced himself completely in the culinary world, working in different oriental restaurants where he acquired the experience he would later use to create his own dishes, fusioning typical peruvian plates with international cuisines. The rest of the story is well- known, Carlos worked for 3 years as a chef at a famous Peruvian restaurant, where he met Jose Combina, his partner in this adventure. Together, they came up with an fresh menu switching the names of most plates to medical terms. The result was a total success! Dr. Limon opened its doors in April 2012 and ever since has satisfied your cravings with the best Ceviche in Miami!

Just get it. 26 oz ribeye (4.5/5) with peppercorn sauce (4/5) and bone marrow vinaigrette (5/5): okay so this dish was our main and it did not disappoint. You can definitely taste the beefiness from the dry aging and that alone was enough. With the peppercorn sauce it was great. BUT with the bone marrow vinaigrette, that took this steak from "really good" to life changing experience. Kouign amann ice cream sandwich (5/5): if you've never had a kouign amann, it's like if a croissant and a cake had a baby. World Cup traffic had us running 30 minutes late for our reservation, but huge props to the host for seating us on a packed night. They gave us a 90 minute limit, which worked out great for our flight timeline. We were seated outside at a tiny 2 top table (maybe it's a Miami thing). While the courtyard setup is really pretty, the tables are squished so close together. When you order as much food as we do, it's a tight squeeze and feels a bit uncomfortable (and risky for dropping dishes!). Plus, Florida heat + the abundance of flies they had outdoors is a thing. Our waitress Vanessa made sure we got all of our dishes quickly so we could make our flight. Food we ordered that are a must: Parker House Rolls (that honey butter dip is addicting), Caesar Salad, Wagyu Beef Carpaccio, and the Blue Crab Agnolotti (my absolute favorite dish of the night). Paired it with the Circus Permit cocktail which was super fun. Food that I would skip: Sent back the duck terrine. The duck steak fell flat despite all the hype, and the yellowedge grouper was covered in way too many leeks for my taste. All in all, a solid 7/10 vibe with a friendly bar up front. I'd drop in for drinks and a few specific plates, but it's not an absolute must repeat for me next time I'm in Miami.

I showed up at close to 11 pm and ask the server to bring us a menu and he was like, "we are close; we close our kitchen at 11 pm. I was like, "really ?" it is not even 11 pm yet. He was like, "sorry sir, that is our policy." I then asked to speak with the manager and three long minutes later and guy with blood shot red eyes appeared and he said exactly the same thing. I asked him, " so if your guests presently seated at your tables ask for something from the menu what are you going to tell them..?" He said, that our kitchen is close. This was such a lie because I saw the such chefs rolling such rolls. Anyways. the manager / owner is an idiot. He should be tested from medicinal marijuana use. I am posting my review on Google and their other location on SW 8 Street. For the record, you guys have no idea how to use your discretion. Rule of thumb, "the customer is always right.." I have Been coming here for years. But today is and will be my last time golng to a Dr. Limón. It's 11:27 am. Trying to go in to have lunch and we are greeted with "sorry we are not OPEN yet, we open at 11:30 am". And they locked the door behind us as we walked away!!. Please!!!! this is why restaurants are going out of business and don't last. We could have gotten in and have a coke or water. They are having a team meeting 3 min before opening. Great planning!! And still have 4 people standing around not in the meeting but they could not sit us for 3 min!!! read more
