The time frame we were there, on a late Thursday evening (the park itself was closed when we exited the restaurant), they constantly brought out fresh foods. Now for the food, I was not highly impressed. Most everything I tried was okay to good, but nothing great popped out at me. My better half may disagree, but this is my account and review. Maybe I just don't gravitate towards African flared foods, albeit I have eaten at other African inspired restaurants and been more satisfied. Although I sampled quite a few items I did not gravitate back towards anything in particular, except the salmon which I had a second piece on my second plate. Sadly the worst thing I tried was their version of chicken wings. They might have been good, flavor-wise, but I can't really say due to them being so dry I needed to wash the bite down so it wouldn't get stuck in my throat. Although our waitress was nice enough we were never offered drink refills until close to our completion time. We did not realize that there was character dining at dinner too (thought it was just breakfast time). Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy and Goofy roamed around the entire time we were there; making great memories for the children present, as well as some of us adults. Overall the experience was just okay to me. I don't know if I could justify paying full kitty to eat here again. Maybe if I brought the grandkids for the character experience and felt like dropping big bucks to do so.

When we arrived the line was out the door and went around to the back. It was hot, but the team took great care of us. They made sure everyone had water, and for those of age they even offered one Smokemade Lager from Ten 10 Brewing. The line did move at a slow and steady pace. And I appreciate them for offering the waters, the beer, and for managing the line and keeping it orderly. Once it was my turn to order, I did my best not to order everything, but also did my best to pick some favorites. While there was only four of us, we wanted to have a spread and have leftovers. So I ordered two brisket sandwiches, one pulled pork sandwich, one philly sandwich, 6 ct- tallow fried wings (hot korean bbq), large side of cheddar grits, large side of pinto beans, large side of mac and cheese, and a large side of potato salad. When the sandwiches were being made I was immediately impressed by the amount of brisket and pulled pork being put on the sandwiches. While packing our food, I noticed they threw in a loaf of bread. When they handed it to me, I asked if the bread was our ls and they said it was. We didn't order it, but I am thinking since our order was over $100 it might be something that is included, not very sure. Once to my destination we unpacked all of the food and laid it out. It all looked so good, and the smell was out of this world. Everyone quickly made plates and dove it. It didn't take long for us to start commenting on how delicious everything was and that we loved it. The sandwiches were generously packed with super flavourful meat. The cheddar grits were amazing. Some of the best mac and cheese I have had. And the pinto beans were great and I loved the meat they include in the. While we all thought the potato salad was good, it was the least exciting of everything. I think we all prefer a wetter and more southern style. My wife did enjoy her philly, but did make the comment that it was more brisket tasting and not enough philly like. It was also packed with meat and looked amazing. The wings were a nice little addition, great flavor and cooked perfectly. And that free loaf of bread was fantastic, it was similar to a potato bread. Everything was so good and well with the wait. I look forward to my next meal here. The staff was phenomenal and so helpful. Everyone was in great spirits and did a wonderful job, especially considering how busy it was.

I have to be honest I wasn't impressed by my visit to Smoke Made Meats on Crystal Lake Drive…read more I had the brisket sandwich, but the meat was almost a paste, and the BBQ sauces didn't really deliver, super watery. The mac and cheese also left me wanting more it just wasn't as rich as I hoped. That said, their collard greens were outstanding truly the star of the show. And the butter gooey cake? That was a sweet win. I also tried their Frisco fries, and they were decent, but I wouldn't rush back just for those. The ambience is really laid-back. It's like any regular barbecue place. I saw at least 3 to 4 tables of people sitting down and enjoying their barbecue and they seem to have a steady stream of traffic. The cashier who is also getting our food order together seemed really nice. She had a great personality. I honestly don't feel the need to go back and visit again. I feel like I would enjoy barbecue more from four rivers.

I ordered a variety of food so I could take it home and enjoy a few meals. The yams are simply divine, buttery and sweet. The turkey dressing was so satisfying! The turkey wing was served with rice and was ladled with gravy. So delicious and tender! The ribs honestly could stand alone with out any sauce. The house smoked ribs have so much love and knowledge in each bite. The mac and cheese sells out, so be prepared to get in line early. The potato salad was tasty. The fried chicken was crispy and delicious. The dinners come with house made corn bread, wrapped lovingly with parchment paper. The cake was moist and delicious! I got the butter pecan cake and I can't wait to try all the other desserts!

Food portion was a bit too large for me because I just wanted a little bite for lunch, that was more a dinner plate than lunch. Then no substitution when I'm willing to pay to substitute makes no sense cuz I didn't want rice. Cornbread was dry, chicken tastes cheap, potato salad was too much and watery. I think this could have been a better experience and with some adjustments I think it can be. I love supporting small business but this experience did not make me want to come back.

We were originally quoted a wait on the phone but seated immediately. Overall it was quiet and most seats empty, I assume reservations were high. Service was very attentive and helpful in selecting orders. I started off with a good to - pork belly bites. And while delicious I would say the lack ribs were even better! Moving on to entrees he enjoyed his steak and o about it was very tender, well seasoned. I'm a bit more of an adventurous diner and went with the black rice dish. The seafood was cooked perfectly, I typically find octopus rubbery but not here. Very soft. Desserts were okay, nothing to remember but I would come back for those ribs and black rice.

Sorry, I just had to. Please forgive. In all honestly, we came here a few nights ago for Bite 30, and it was great. Drinks are smokin' (literally, get their old fash), apps are delish (lambs were falling off the rack but that octo was great), mains were amazing (steak was perfectly cooked, fries were fried super well, the arroz is a sleeper) and the desserts were BOMB (chocolate bomb was a hit, tart was unfortunately out and was one of the ones we really wanted to try though). So yeah, happy to be able to try such a variety as part of Bite 30 - will def go back, but be warned, menu prices can be pricy! But they do have affordable things like burgers, etc. One note - bathroom is kinda strange. You go through two doors before ending up in a residential apartment hallway - bathroom for Drake is allll the way at the end of this hallway. Besides that, the restaurant itself was nice. We'll be back to see you next time Drake ol' pal!
