Mashed cauliflower, kale, and creole tofu

I am not a vegan but I enjoy coming to the lakeside cafe because occasionally I only want to eat veggies. The food is also better than the other cafeteria in the hospital. I also like to work at the cafe with my laptop sometimes. You can sit outside or inside. They are currently doing construction so the view isn't that great right now. It's not as packed either. I ordered the creole tofu, mashed cauliflower and kale. I loved the creole tofu. The tofu was over cooked but the seasoning and sauce was tasty. Mashed cauliflower was ok. Lacked flavor. Kale was good. I felt like the portion was decent for me. My favorite hospital cafe!

Check out this hefty portion of food. It has to weigh like 2 pounds - all for $8 bucks, including a bottled water. For realz!

Sup my Yelper peeps!! I had lunch at the Florida Hospital Lakeside Cafe and I must say it's by far one of the much better hospital cafeteria food places I've been to. It's located just passed the main entrance welcoming desk (just off of the left side). It's sits just below the main floor toward the back. As you walk down the stairs you'll automatically notice it faces the lake which offers a great view to take in as you're having lunch,l. Whether you decide to sit inside or out you Sanjay the scenery. The food?? Great question! Perrty darn good! I went with the Asian special which offered Kung Pao chicken, fried rice, vege dumplings, and mushrooms. And a hefty portion of food for $8 bucks, and it came with a bottled water! I enjoyed the mushrooms and the dumplings the most. The chicken had a bit of a curry flavor. It was good just not my fav for the day. They have a decent selection of food from salads, pizzas, smoothies, and drinks. No sofa, this is a health spot. So if you're ever in Florida Hospital (hopefully not for anything serious) and your hungry, give this place a chance. You'll be impressed... That's it for now peeps! Hopefully this helps you decide on your next meal. Hit me up and let me know how your experience went. Peace out...

4 Stars for better than average hospital food, and seating with a view you can't beat. This is definitely the cafe that the doctors go to at FL Hospital. From its plethora of vegetarian options to its view of Lake Estelle, this place is a bit of an oasis where the only reminder that you're in a hospital are the folks wearing scrubs around you. Right when you walk into the cafeteria portion (after descending down some stairs from the main level of the hospital) you will encounter a line to have a wrap or sandwich built for you. The signage isn't very clear as to what each line is actually for (my only real complaint), and there's another line for getting a hot meal. Then there's the soup area where you can pour your own chili or soup into a container, but as soon as you want to add broccoli or a sweet potato you presumably have to get to the back of the hot good line to ask them to scoop it into a container for you. It's off because this section seems like a serve-yourself section (separate from the hot meal line) but you're not actually able to access the veggies yourself. Suffice it to say, it's a bit confusing so I usually forgo the veggies and just get my quick bean chili. But any frustration fades away as soon as you walk towards the seating options. There are high top tables inside where you can gaze out to the lake as well as an outdoor terrace with seating for those who need to get out of the sterile AC and lose themselves in nature. Them's some good options, either way.

    Vegan meatballs with marinara.

Stopped in here to grab some food for Father's Day lunch. The goal was to feed 4 people, and have a…read morevariety of items. When we arrived the line was out the door and went around to the back. It was hot, but the team took great care of us. They made sure everyone had water, and for those of age they even offered one Smokemade Lager from Ten 10 Brewing. The line did move at a slow and steady pace. And I appreciate them for offering the waters, the beer, and for managing the line and keeping it orderly. Once it was my turn to order, I did my best not to order everything, but also did my best to pick some favorites. While there was only four of us, we wanted to have a spread and have leftovers. So I ordered two brisket sandwiches, one pulled pork sandwich, one philly sandwich, 6 ct- tallow fried wings (hot korean bbq), large side of cheddar grits, large side of pinto beans, large side of mac and cheese, and a large side of potato salad. When the sandwiches were being made I was immediately impressed by the amount of brisket and pulled pork being put on the sandwiches. While packing our food, I noticed they threw in a loaf of bread. When they handed it to me, I asked if the bread was our ls and they said it was. We didn't order it, but I am thinking since our order was over $100 it might be something that is included, not very sure. Once to my destination we unpacked all of the food and laid it out. It all looked so good, and the smell was out of this world. Everyone quickly made plates and dove it. It didn't take long for us to start commenting on how delicious everything was and that we loved it. The sandwiches were generously packed with super flavourful meat. The cheddar grits were amazing. Some of the best mac and cheese I have had. And the pinto beans were great and I loved the meat they include in the. While we all thought the potato salad was good, it was the least exciting of everything. I think we all prefer a wetter and more southern style. My wife did enjoy her philly, but did make the comment that it was more brisket tasting and not enough philly like. It was also packed with meat and looked amazing. The wings were a nice little addition, great flavor and cooked perfectly. And that free loaf of bread was fantastic, it was similar to a potato bread. Everything was so good and well with the wait. I look forward to my next meal here. The staff was phenomenal and so helpful. Everyone was in great spirits and did a wonderful job, especially considering how busy it was.

I have to be honest I wasn't impressed by my visit to Smoke Made Meats on Crystal Lake Drive…read more I had the brisket sandwich, but the meat was almost a paste, and the BBQ sauces didn't really deliver, super watery. The mac and cheese also left me wanting more it just wasn't as rich as I hoped. That said, their collard greens were outstanding truly the star of the show. And the butter gooey cake? That was a sweet win. I also tried their Frisco fries, and they were decent, but I wouldn't rush back just for those. The ambience is really laid-back. It's like any regular barbecue place. I saw at least 3 to 4 tables of people sitting down and enjoying their barbecue and they seem to have a steady stream of traffic. The cashier who is also getting our food order together seemed really nice. She had a great personality. I honestly don't feel the need to go back and visit again. I feel like I would enjoy barbecue more from four rivers.

I am not sure if she adds pork in the meat mix but it is delicious and tender soft. The gravy that comes with it is delicious. The bread pudding is also one of the best you will have from a scratch kitchen. I have seen caucasians come here and grab food because I hear them say its the best meatloaf they had - to the cooking in general reminds them of their southern family member cooking. This day the black eyed peas was a popular side choice. I never tried it but it was a popular one. I spoke to Ms. Kim and her grandson this day just to have a conversation - Ms. Kim introduced herself to me with her First Name - She asked me if I was this ethnicity and she was right LOL she then stated to me she is part Thailand. Her grandson was also nice. I was sharing to him my past experience as a Yelp Diner at this establishment and both Ms. Kim and her grandson were not fond of the experience I had and then Ms. Kim adviced next time that happens at any food establishment to just get a full refund back. They were shocked of the experience I had. It was a pleasure talking to them both them hearing me vent it out about my dining experience from another establishment. On a weekday around close to 12pm this place can get a line for food. By far Ms. Kim's place is the best soul food IMO in Orlando and the portions are hefty! Next time you stop by - its nice to chit chat with Ms. Kim and her grandson who is pretty much the cashier.

We ended up sitting at the bar. And I'm glad we did because the bartender was incredible. I had the most amazing espresso martini made with tequila. He definitely knew his way around the bar and cocktails. You just know when someone loves their job. We ordered the truffle fries with the four sauces. The sauces were all different and very good, but I have to say the truffle fries by themselves are the star. We also had the goat cheese croquettes, Maple Butternut Squash Puree, Truffle Honey. For dinner, we ended up sharing the Baharat Spiced Salmon, Red Quinoa, Sea Island Red Peas, Chickpeas, Crisp Local Greens, Orange Blossom Honey Mustard Dressing. However, as time has passed and some of the "new restaurant" kinks have been ironed out, my return experience has helped shift my view on this local spot. It is located in the business district of Downtown Orlando - which, for parking purposes, can get a little tricky depending on the time of day you visit. However, there is a nearby parking garage you can pay to park in if your street parking luck is low. The restaurant itself has ample seating options, indoors, outdoors, and at their bar. Bar seating is more limited, but it's enough. The staff are friendly, very informative about the menu, and will happily guide you on any of the cuisine and drink options being offered. When the weather is nice, I recommend sitting outdoors so that you can people watch with your meal. It is downtown after all, so you'll always get some kind of passerby showcase. The food, as I mentioned, has improved for me. On my most recent experience, I went for an impromptu Happy Hour and Bite30 experience with a few friends. I started with their Summer Chopped Salad, which consisted of Edgewood Farms Kale & Tender Greens, Cucumbers, Radish, Roasted Tomatoes, Feta, Garlic Chips, and Boquerones drizzled with Avocado Caesar Dressing. It was quite good. I paired it with their Black Angus Steak Frites (Aged Angus Beef Picanha and Hand-Cut Potatoes Frites with Sauce Bordelaise). This was also quite good. And I closed out my Bite30 experience with their Summer Passion & Key Lime Tart - which was pretty tasty. By this point, I was pretty stuffed, so I took home some of my Bite30 options and enjoyed them the following day for lunch. Overall, my Bite30 Experience was really good. I also got to enjoy a couple of their cocktails. All in all, it was truly a pleasant experience. I'd definitely visit again to try a bit more of their menu.
