It was Saturday February 12th and I called to see if they were on a wait. They said 5 minutes so we headed over. My kids were starving. Service: We got the best service from our server. I didn't catch her name and I meant to save a copy of our receipt so I could give her a shout out but in the cluster I lost it. She greeted us quick and got our kids meals out so fast. Was a lifesaver because our other restaurant plans got messed up. She was also very knowledgeable about which items were gluten free. Food/Drinks: I ordered an old fashioned and a local hazy ipa. Hit the spot after chasing my 3 kids around at Legoland all day. I order the chicken lollipops for an appetizer. I got the Buffalo Style and they were amazing. Hot, fresh, and tasty. A nice change of pace from the usual chicken wings. I ordered the Hanger Steak for my main course. It came sliced with chimmichurri sauce, potato wedges, and broccolini. It was cooked medium rare as requested and was very tasty. My wife enjoyed her Burger on a gluten free bun. Two of my kids enjoyed their cheese pizza on the cauliflower crust. My daughter enjoyed her cheeseburger. Final Thoughts: Draft Republic saved the day for us. Great Service and food. Good Atmosphere. Tons of beer choices. We came on a Wednesday night we ordered pretzel bites for an appetizer, a southwest salad , the slider trio with no pickles and two kids meals and a beer, the server went missing for most of the time the pretzels bites never came out we got of food and my sliders we covered in pickles waited for about 20 minutes until the server came over and I told him about my slider and that we never got the pretzel bites they re made my food but the flavor was so bad I couldn't eat it, my husband order a beer never got it just wasn't a good time for us. So after an afternoon of shopping at the Outlets of Carlsbad, we looked for a place to eat with our daughter, son-in-law and two young grandkids. We chose Draft Republic because we like supporting CRG. This was not a wonderful experience unfortunately. Did not get photos, but our issues were not really visual, more like temperatures. We ordered beers, apple juice and chocolate milk....so far VERY GOOD. Then we ordered French Fries to share and the Brussels to share. Well, neither were at the temperature that we would expect. The server replaced the french fries with a fresh hot batch, which were good, but forgot to take the cold ones off the ticket and had to re-do the bill. We didn't complain about the Brussel sprouts because we hated complaining about the only two items we received. They had good flavor but needed more cooking time, and they needed to be hotter. Then came our orders... my Grilled Herbed Chicken Sandwich, was (surprise) not hot!!! Or even warm. I asked for a brioche bun rather than the ciabatta. It was not warm and soft, it was sort of greasy and stale. And let's talk about the bacon on the sandwich, it was not fresh, and in fact, one bite I took, I spit it out as it tasted rancid. Salad was tasty. The french fries were again, NOT hot, NOT cold, but just room temperature. My husband had the Rib Eye Cheese Steak, it was definitely heat hot. And he said that it was tasty. He had onion rings, and those were a disappointment as he felt like they were overly salty. Our daughter had the Chop-Chop Salad, and said it was okay. She was happy that the figs were not "in your face", but instead thinly sliced and tasty. Son-in-law said his Hot Chicken Sandwich was fine but not as good as some others he has had. Bottom line...beer was good. But I would not go out of my way to return. Sadly, if we returned, I would stick to beer or wine and appetizers? ‍ Husband used the mens room, and they were out of paper and soap. Not Good. But he let them know and they replaced the missing items. It was just an odd experience. They were not crazy busy for a Saturday late afternoon. This is a must stop spot in Carlsbad. The food is absolutely delicious looking at the pictures make me hungry again! The service is absolutely great our server kept checking in on us and there was about 10 of us. She was sweet and very patient. They have so many tvs and they also have a big screen which I loved! Since today was Mother's Day someone was going around taking photos and printing them out. I'm not sure if they do that all the time or just for today but I really liked that they did that, and I of course purchased my photos. The atmosphere of this establishment was fun but not rowdy. It was a nice atmosphere. The wings were very good not to spicy. The spaghetti was also very good just the noodles no meat balls and not to much sauce. The fries were very good I tried both the plan and the brisket. The meat on the brisket tasted so fresh and all the other ingredients made it chefs kisses! The bang bang shrimp was also very good. The service here is wonderful. We came here after Legoland as a party of 7 with kids. The restaurant was cool. The kids loved it. We were seated right away. I had their signature burger. It was good. Bumping music, lots of screens with games on. We stopped in for Happy Hour (which they call "Social Hour") in order to escape the tourist crazy in Encinitas. We picked the sliders to share- a tip with those- make sure to ask for the excellent spicy house ketchup on the side. Also from HH menu, Bo-Beau's crispy Brussels sprouts. These Brussels sprouts come with pancetta, fresh parm & a basalmic glaze. They were excellent. We also got the Bang-Bang Shrimp (not HH but had to try). They weren't super-saucy and HUGE. Very very good, crispy, and there were 6, so easy to split. Was almost too much food for two people. For drinks I started out with Elijah Craig neat and ended with a HH well whiskey ginger. My sister had a dark & stormy to start and finished with the house Mexican Lager. The beer list is extensive if you're a beer lover. Not really my thing anymore but I super appreciate it. Be aware they charge a 5% surcharge to support their employees- "Added to all guest checks to help cover increasing costs" Also doing a yelp review really helps out the employees personally. Had a horrible experience at this restaurant. I ordered the Brussels sprouts and I took my first mouthful and there was a long hair in it. I immediately assumed it was probably my own hair since i was wearing it out and it's past shoulder length but then I took a second bite and there was yet another hair. The Manager came out to apologize and took the dish away. I obviously wasn't charged for the hairy Brussels Sprouts but I was charged for the cauliflower wings which at that point I had no desire to eat because I was repulsed altogether. Passion hibiscus cider: it was great and you could really taste the fruit flavor, would definitely recommend if you like ciders Spicy jalapeño margarita: also good, nice balance of heat and other flavors. Wish there was less ice and I bit more of the actual drink Brisket fries: these were good but not amazing. The actual pieces of meat didn't have much flavor and I could've used a little more of it Onion rings: so good! The stout bbq sauce tasted great and you could bite the onion ring without the entire onion being pulled out, perfectly cooked! Hot honey chicken sandwich: sandwich itself was good, everyone absolutely loved the fries- cooked well and had flavorful seasoning. The salad could have used a tiny bit more dressing to be called a salad otherwise it's just small pieces of lettuce next to your sandwich Reasons I dropped one star- it took a while to get our check. They had cleared the entire table (including one last bite of fries I was about to eat but was taken without asking) and we're still hadn't got our check. They also have a 5% surcharge for everyone in order to help pay minimum wage, but I don't feel like that's the customer's responsibility over the owners/management. All in all I would suggest this place to anyone in the area especially if you like watching sports on at least 5 TVs, just be cautious of the prices. read more
