Friends and I were looking for a fun place to hangout late Sunday evening. We all came separately so we needed to find a place with good parking. One of our friends recommended this brewery called Draft Republic in Carlsbad. We drove up the coast and parked here around sunset. When I walked in I was surprised on how big the place was and how there many more things here to do besides drinking and eating. They had a arcade section and a virtual golf area. We got a table soon as we walked in, and got our order in pretty quick. The food is good, nothing out of this world but seems good quality. I did not get to stay long but I will be back with friends again because it was pretty cool how many other things you can do while with your friends or family. Was looking for a place to settle down and watch baseball playoffs. There are quite a few options in the immediate area. Wanted someplace w a lively atmosphere and LOTS of TVs. Draft Republic is just that. Rowdy crowd, lots of TVs and really good food! We arrived right around first pitch for the baseball game. Place was packed with Padres fans. The hostess wouldn't quote a wait time since the game was starting. Found a spot to wait near the bar until a table freed up. Not too long after, we were seated at a "community table". Not a bad option when everyone in the place was watching the same game. Easy way to make new friends! We ordered and ate slowly throughout the game. Probably ate more than we really should have. Started with the Tuna Tataki. Absolutely the best thing we ate here. The tuna was melt in your mouth good. There was a slightly sweet then savory crunch when biting into the wonton chip. Little bit of heat too which made each bite perfect! We followed the tuna with the Southwest Cobb Salad, Philly Cheesesteak and lastly Pesto Pizza. Finished off the meal with a skillet brownie topped off with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup. Probably could've done without the dessert, but.... ;-p. Each of the other items was really good. But couldn't top the Tuna Tataki as the star of the night! Service was so so. Our server wasn't very personable. We decided to give this spot a try because it's kid friendly and the food looked good. We were pleasantly surprised at how delicious everything was! Service was friendly and Genevieve made our experience very enjoyable! We had 2 young ones with us and I know how trying that can be for a server but she was super patient and helpful. The food here overall is pretty good i can't complain about that, the service on the other hand was very mellow we had been waiting around half of our stay was waiting for the server to come around and ask about food and drinks. There was no heads up on how long the food or drinks would take so we just patiently waited about 25 minutes for our drinks to finally appear. No accommodations for the customers or guidance on how to use the game bays pretty much every man for themself until your time is up. Pesto pizza was cleared out, smelled so good! Philly cheesesteak sandwich's (hold the cheese I am lactose intolerant) meat was sliced perfectly thin and I added mushrooms. We've been to Draft Republic in Carlsbad a number of times and the food is always great, the service is good and it's a great place to watch the game...any game. It does get packed on SUNs during the NFL season but its a big space and there is a lot to do so get there a little early and you should be fine. On this visit, we had Nashville Hot Fried Chicken Sandwich (A), The Draft Republic Burger (A) and the Loaded Brisket Fries (A+) and everyone was very happy. In North County, there isn't a bevy of great sports bars, so I'd recommend Draft Republic over just about anywhere to watch a game. If that's not your thing, it is equally great for a beer or just some great food. read more

Good sports bar scene with lots of big screens to enjoy your favorite sporting events. There's been lots of good changes/upgrades done to this place recently including game stations and golf simulator. They offer great selection of house and local craft beers, cocktails, and tasty food treats. I loved when they had game night specials (i.e.: MNF), but not sure if that's still an option. This was a nice breathe of fresh air while visiting San Diego. Very kid friendly, some of the games were broken but not the end of the world. Shelby was as our waiter and big kudos to her for taking care of me and my family during dinner. It was our first time here and we were impressed with the large screen TVs and the long tables thinking it would be perfect for large gatherings of people who want to watch a game. I ordered the chicken Cesar salad and my husband the fish and chips. Both plates were average, what we expected. The service was dismal though. Our server made it known that the wait service was in a competition with each other to sell the most holiday drinks. At $16 a glass and it being noon, we weren't wanting a drink. When we ordered iced tea she looks disappointed. After we ordered our food, we maybe saw her one time in passing when she asked how the food was. There was no refills on our drinks. We were out in Oceanside once again for a soccer tournament. Wanted some drinks and good food so I turned to yelp. We were going to stay in Carlsbad and this place was about 5 minutes from our hotel. We arrived Sundays around 4ish. Argentina and Colombia were going to play the final so we saw a lot of people wearing jerseys. We grabbed a table and started with some drinks and wings. I arrived at 8:30pm and was told the kitchen closes at 8:45pm--then immediately asked, "Do you want food?" Not exactly a warm welcome, but I ordered anyway. Another gentleman next to me ordered a beer and some food as well. Ten minutes later, after asking again about his beer, the bartender casually replied, "We're out, but I've got a half glass. Do you want me to change the keg or do you want this?" He understandably replied, "Well, if you don't want to change the keg, I guess I'll drink this. Are you going to charge me?" She said yes. He got up and left. Even the other bartender said out loud, "Wow, we suck." Then my meal arrived--if you want to call it that. The fish was dry and flavorless, the fries were cold, and I left most of the plate untouched. Not one person, including your manager who seemed more focused on cashing out servers than managing the guest experience, asked me how my meal was. He looked disheveled, like he had just stepped out of the restroom and forgot to tuck in his shirt. The patrons at the bar were more professionally dressed than your supposed leader. He never once checked on a guest, never made eye contact, never asked if anything was okay. To top it all off, I was charged a "supplemental fee." When I asked what it was for, the bartender said, "Because of COVID." It's 2025. At least try something believable--kitchen staff appreciation fund. I would've respected that more. This entire experience was unacceptable and reflects a severe lack of leadership, accountability, and basic hospitality. If this is the standard for the Cohn Restaurant Group, it's a hard pass from me. I won't be back--and I'll be sure to share my experience with others as well read more

All their other food was insane too but the cheesesteak is easily the top cheesesteak in California and easily top 3 overall in my book. They even have bread from amoroso's and it tastes fresh. We chose to meet a friend at this Draft Republic because we've been to the Draft Republic in La Jolla and liked it. The receptionist was very friendly greeting us as we asked for an outdoor table for 3. We were happy with our table on the partially enclosed patio next to the bar. Service was prompt, friendly and attentive. The Tuna Tataki (a favorite of ours at other CRG restaurants) was excellent -- 6 pieces of perfectly seared ahi on a bed of arugula. I chose the Draft Republic Sliders -- Nashville Chicken, Pulled Pork, Hamburger. It was a great choice, and the accompanying French Fries were awesome -- among the best I've ever had. Our friend had the Kapalua Burger, which he said was terrific. There is a good selection of beers, including IPAs. I opted for a Bloody Mary spicy, and it was perfect -- as was the service.
