So, someone stupid in the house (I'm also the only one who cooks), almost burnt down the entire place... The range is currently in the driveway and until we get a new one on Thursday, cooking here will be limited. After an entire day of cleaning where the old oven was, cleaning the entire kitchen and preparing the natural gas line for the new stove, we thought takeout would be a fantastic idea. What's better than Chinese too, to stretch into an extra meal that is easily microwavable or can be warmed in our toaster oven... We wanted to try somewhere new and I thought Dragon & Phoenix might be a good choice. Close to the house and somewhere we've seen over the years, but never tried. The menu looks extensive and they had one of my favorites. Lemon Chicken! We went with that, lobster fried rice, General Tso's, and wonton soup. We placed an order on Sunday night around 5:30 and was told it would be twenty minutes. Walking in, I was surprised to see a couple of tables if you wanted to dine there. A lot of people working in the kitchen and one worker was bringing a tray of wontons over. I was impressed by what I saw, we paid and zoomed on home. First of all, it was incredible to have smells other than smoke in the house... I'm an idiot... We planned on making lemonade this evening, so I grabbed a piece of my lemon chicken, while I quickly juiced some lemons. This was good. Real good... Among the best lemon chicken I've had. It reminds me of a better version of the type I ate all of the time when I was younger. All of the other places that I can find with lemon chicken deep fry the chicken so it's crispy with a lemon sauce. Don't get me wrong, I love crispy chicken. Maybe if I wasn't an idiot with cooking oil, because I enjoyed crispy stuff, I'd still have an oven too... This lemon chicken had a crunch, but still that soggy interior that I grew to love. When we eat, don't we want to be reminded of past experiences? There isn't anything better. The wonton soup was good, the General Tso's worked, but had a really nice looking red sauce glaze on it. I didn't want the lobster fried rice, but I enjoyed the fried rice part. This fried rice had the flavors I wanted, but I would prefer more traditional proteins in there. I don't care though, I wanted the lemon chicken and that was the only battle I wanted to fight... My wife loved the lemon chicken too. Well, she doesn't love anything, probably not even me, but it was acceptable to her. Just the fact that she took so many pieces of it, means it was pretty good. Finally, the fortune cookie was among the best I've had. Those orange, vanilla, chocolate ones? So great! This place just reminds me of college so much. Not those authentic chinese places that I frequent more of, but just a local Americanized Chinese place. Why didn't we come here earlier?

This was all included in my lunch combo for $6.50...not too shabby! Portions were decent as well.

I just ordered delivery from here and I was not disappointed. My food came within 25 minutes during a weekend lunch. The portion was good for a lunch size and included a soup or egg roll and a soda for $6.50 plus delivery charge ($1.75). The food itself was decent as well. I won't say it's my favorite (which goes to a little corner place in Philly), but it was pretty good. As I mentioned, portion size was good for the price and the pork fried rice was alright. I'd order from here again though since the price was right and they are so close.

So we ordered chicken and shrimp chow Mein, and double checked on google images to make sure we were getting a noodle based dish. We ended up getting this, and when we called to clarify the gentleman on the phone said that is incorrect. There is Asian chow mein and American chow mein. I have never heard of such a thing. This is a cabbage based dish which I cannot find anywhere online that says it is cabbage and not noodles. So beware when you order there that their chow mein is cabbage.

From the moment we walked in, everyone was welcoming and quick to check in, answer questions, and make sure we had everything we needed. Good service always makes a difference, and the team here definitely stood out. The food was excellent and exactly what I was hoping for. Everything we ordered was delicious and very much on par with the other Nan Xiang locations I've visited. The soup dumplings were great, and honestly everything coming out of the kitchen looked good enough to make us want to order more. We came for lunch on a Sunday and were pleasantly surprised that it wasn't incredibly busy. Whenever I pass by Nan Xiang locations in New York, LA, and other cities, there always seems to be a long wait during normal meal hours, so being able to sit down without dealing with a huge crowd was a very nice surprise. The prices did seem slightly higher than I remembered, although that could easily be because this is a newer location--or just my memory failing me. Either way, the quality of the food and service made it feel worthwhile. We definitely over-ordered and ended up taking plenty of food home for leftovers, which is never a bad problem to have. Everything held up well, and I was more than happy to have another meal waiting for me later. Between the delicious food, surprisingly easy Sunday lunch experience, and especially the friendly staff, this was a really enjoyable visit. I'm already looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu next time.

My friend's favorite was their pork. They had vinegar, soy sauce, and chili oil as condiments on the table to use with your dumplings. I think their chili oil had anise in it because the taste reminded me of licorice. I was not a fan of it. Service was ok - I ordered a soda that did not get refilled. The bok choy side dish came out later than the dumplings and I wish they had timed it to be ready at the same time.

Jin Ding Restaurant is a treasure!…read more Jin Ding restaurant is located at the intersection of Haverford Road and Conestoga Road in Bryn Mawr. In an area with several good Chinese restaurants, it makes its own unique contribution. The interior has been redone and refreshed. There is a large dining area both with booths and tables. They also have rooms for larger gatherings, with a varied catering menu available. There is more than sufficient on-site parking, which is important for a Bryn Mawr restaurant. Service is prompt and pleasant. The restaurant offers a great range of choices. When I went there this weekend, our party started with a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, which was a wonderful accompaniment to the vegetable spring rolls and dumplings which the other diners ordered. I got the minced chicken and corn soup. I had never had it before because I shied away from any soup that included cream in it. I must tell you that there was only enough in it to give the soup a heft it would not have otherwise had. As for entrees, my wife loved her crispy sesame shrimp, and I tried-for the first time- the eggplant with garlic sauce, Chinese eggplant, in my opinion, tastes different from other eggplant dishes because it is not fried and instead is bathed in the special sauce of Jin Ding. The desserts looked wonderful, but none of us had room for the desserts. The restaurant is located on the site of a previous Chinese restaurant which, at one time, was prominent not only for excellence, but also for its innovative approaches to Chinese cuisine. For various reasons, it closed. While it may sound strange to say, I truly believe that people did not begin to go to the new restaurant only because it would have felt like violating the gravesite of the previous business. Fortunately, that feeling. seems now to have ended. Jin Ding has delivered a quality dining experience every time I have gone there over several years. I commend it to you.

Delivery was on time and food arrived warm. We decided to try the General Tso's Chicken/ w brown rice, which was pretty good. It was sweet and spicy. The chicken was good, moist and flavorful. 8/10 We also got the Hawaiian Chicken. It wasn't what I was expecting. It was fried chicken breast sitting on a bed of lettuce, fruit/a few pineapple chunks and cherries. It came with a sweet and sour sauce. By everything being separated in the dish, there was no infusion of flavor, which made it dry and uneventful. I wouldn't get this again. 5/10. We also got the Crab Rangoon (cheese & crabmeat inside). These did not transport well. They seems wilted and probably need to be eaten soon after taken from cooking. Plus they were very stingy on the cheese and crab inside. 4/10. Spring rolls too, as a appetizer. They were just ok! Again, just needed more inside the roll. 4/10 By this being my first time trying this restaurant it may get a better review if I visited. So hopefully I'll do that in the future .

The place was so dark that we had a hard time reading the menu. They brought dry, crunchy noodles for the table with this sweet and spicy sauce for free. The spicy sauce was really good. We ended up getting egg and spring rolls, pork fried rice, wonton and hot and sour soup, and shrimp with broccoli and carrots. The soups were comparable to most Chinese take out places. I really liked the wonton soup. The egg and spring rolls were pretty basic. Honestly, I would have preferred going to the shady Chinese corner shop that had bullet proof glass surrounding the cashier. The shrimp with broccoli with carrots was pretty basic as well. Again, I think the corner store Chinese shop makes it better. At the end of our meal we did get some tasty oranges and a fortune cookie. My fortune cookie response wasn't even fully written on the paper.
