This is my favorite sushi restaurant. I've been going here since they opened 5 years ago and I am so glad that they have expanded it twice because the desert is realizing how great this place is! Guess it's not my little secret anymore. I love sitting at the bar side, the atmosphere is great. Most of the time the service is fine but when it is not the food is ALWAYS consistent and sooo yummy for the price so I have no complaints! My favorite roll is the INDIO ROLL for those of you who love spicy rolls this roll will have you drooling. The stuffed peppers are also a must for an appetizer. I can't get enough of this place. I've been coming here for awhile now and it's always been good, but today I ordered to go and as I was standing there looking at the menu, I overheard a waitress say "there was a table with a large check and they only left a $7 tip, no more Mr. Niceguy! Everyone gets service fees today!". I ignored this, and ordered my sushi. I ordered a caterpillar roll, salmon roe nigiri, and a coke. A lady handed me the bag of food and said "the sauces are in the bag" and quickly walked off. I got home, open up my food and not only was there no sauce at all included as she told me, but there wasn't any sauce on the caterpillar roll at all which was strange, I get this roll all the time. I check out the salmon roe nigiri and it's not even what I had ordered. Oh well I guess I'll just eat this stuff then, wrong, I am chewing on my second piece of the caterpillar roll and get a fish bone. I have been eating sushi for my whole life and never once have I gotten a fish bone in a roll until today. Won't be returning, time to find a new sushi spot! read more

We vist the Palm Desert location often though we would try this location. Food is delicious. Service is another story. No one greeted as we entered. I heard so many great things about this place and was excited when the palm desert location opened. Everyone raved about the all you can eat lunch special. However, when we got there were told it was only the Indio location. Today we see it while driving through Indio to find out that they do indeed have the all you can eat but they took off the lunch special. This was the only reason we went there. I will never return here solely based on service. The food is always good but the last two times I went I had the worst customer service. One of the times I ordered my daughter a kids quesadilla, when we got our bill it was $13, I showed them the kids menu showing it was $5/$6 whatever it was and they asked me "well did you get the kids quesadilla or the happy hour quesadilla?" I said "I don't know, I ordered a kids one" which they then asked "so do you want us to change the bill?" HELLO! YES! I ordered a kids meal, it is not my fault if the server brought us the wrong meal, how would I know the difference between the two quesadillas. The second and last time I went, which was 2 days ago, they kept getting our order wrong and bringing us the wrong food. Someone at our table ordered a house salad, never came. Then we ordered a jack and coke, it came after we asked them to cancel it. Then we had a chicken teriyaki meal which comes with soup, salad, and rice. We've been going to DS since they opened. I've always had decent service. Maybe I'm just a little more patient than most. The food is consistently good. I usually order the same thing; garlic rice, baked mussels and monkey brains. Prices are reasonable. DS must have good food because they expanded their size and have a nice bar. This is probably why service may have suffered a bit. The place has always been busy when we've ate there. Went there today around 5 ish. Our server was appropriately attentive and she was super sweet, while being around six months pregnant? We received our drinks promptly as well as the food. Whenever I get a sushi craving this is the spot! The mango tango, rainbow roll, Hawaiian roll, super dragon are a few of my favorites there. The last few times Ive gone my server was Jose and his service was phenomenal and helpful. He told me I could have my favorite roll, the mango tango deep fried and I never knew that was an option. I work for 3rd party food service delivery and every time I come in they always say they don't have the order or they found it after me haggling at them to find it after 15-20 minutes. and yet it's always customers already paid for and they still ask for money. I was just recently here. I had placed an Online order and made a mistake on the order. I didn't realize the mistake until I had already picked up the order. I went back to the the restaurant to correct the mistake I made. I took full responsibility for it. I was willing to pay the difference for the correction. One of the servers then went to talk with the manager of the issue. She came back an told me "You would have to place another order in, since you already left with the first order." I asked if I was to get a refund for the first order then repay for the other. She said "No refund will be given." So they wanted me to spend more money on another order. I told her kindly, that I will not make another order and spend more money. She then handed me the first order back. As I was walking back to my car. I threw the first order in the trash, since they didn't want to help correct the issue. I went back and asked for a corporate number, not sure if it a good number. I think the issue could have been handled differently. Since I had to spend extra time away from work. So now I am not getting a refund until I call the corporate number they provided. I order tuna and salmon sushi (just raw fish of white rice), and well it was disgusting since the person making my order decided to put wasabi underneath every single piece of fish before placing it on top of the rice, which for me ruins the flavor or the fish! I've experienced great sushi and I have never had and order ruined like that. Keep in mind I order 10 pieces of salmon and 10 pieces of tuna and 2 pieces of red snapper and 2 pieces of shrimp. A lot of food? Yes and well, ruined! When I notified the waitress to tell the cook not to do that she just replied with " every cook makes it differently" and I simply said yes I understand that's why I am telling to tell the cook no wasabi no sauce just rice and fish! When my next order came out it was not what I asked for the person making the sushi decided that instead of putting wasabi they would just soak the fish in some weird tasting sauce not eel sauce but something similar to soy sauce in texture not taste! Ever since they expanded the location the service is lacking. One day decided to go in take family have a nice dinner; we were greeted reasonably, given our drinks, our appetizers. However, our server constantly would pass and our menus were down and didn't come back to ask if we were ready, management even las by too. In end after 25-30 min wait (*note we were in our table already) decide to leave and rapidly our server quick to print out check, rather than come and question how to fix it. My Bf and I love to come to this place only for the food because the service is terrible. Never again coming to this place. Janelle our waitress had really bad attitude and not only that but doesn't apologize when she made a mistake on my order, instead she grouch and walked away when I was talking to her. Also, 6 months ago we had an issue with some other waitress and I choose to talk to the manager and she made it noticeable that she didn't like me complaining about the service. I visited Dragon Sushi again recently and once again it did not disappoint one bit. While in the desert for vacation with family members, we went to Dragon Sushi. Upon arriving, the place was full. However, it appears that they have a new addition to the place--a very spacious addition with its own sushi bar and tables. This is very convenient as some of my acquaintances that live in the desert year round have had to wait for a table in the past. Now the food...I am not one to trust upon someone else my dinner choices, especially when I already know what I absolutely love from a particular restaurant. But once again, we let the sushi chef decide our meal for us. Despite my anxiety-ridden control-freak inside me, and once again, what came from the bar was amazing. To start, the chef brought some baked mussels prepared with a savory sauce. The mussels were not at all chewy or rubbery, they were perfect. After came a sashimi style salad that was prepared using little cubes of tuna beautifully seasoned with what appeared to be a soy-based concoction along with a sort of grilled root, it may have been chives or maybe straight up onion. The combination of the slightly sweet sauce, the savory root, and the flavor and texture of the fish was great. It was light and it gave us just enough to enjoy it, but not too much as to fill us up. Next came some fresh-water shrimp (that were quite large!) wrapped in fried sweet noodles, this was in my opinion the star of my dinner. The dish looked something right out of a sci fy movie, but it was not unpleasant or unappetizing to see--quite the contrary, it stirred my appetite quite a bit! The shrimp were stuffed with crab meat, avocado, and a creamy sauce. The crunchiness of the noodles in the exterior combined with the soft creamy interior was awesome. The noodles had a hint of something sweet, but not too sweet. It went along great with the stuffing inside the shrimp, wish was rich and savory. To finish we had some orange slices for desert, which were very simple but a great finish to our meal. Dragon sushi is a place to go with family, a date, or alone. It is convenient to people looking for good sushi in Indio and La Quinta and the prices are reasonable. I just hope to be back again soon to try those fresh-water shrimp again! read more
