If I could give more stars, I would. The salon itself is clean, beautifully and eclectically decorated. The atmosphere was fun and light. My stylist was Anna and she was a gem of a human. She took the time to decode my many ideas of what I was looking for and listened to what I didn't want. She's hilarious, knowledgeable and so down to earth. At the end, there was no upsell of products - quite the opposite actually. She wanted to make sure I was satisfied and told me give a day or two to see if i still loved it all after the new shinny salon feel wore off. She took the time to go over easy and quick styling tips with step by step instruction. I left loving my hair, and excited to rebook when needed. read more

First thing: CURLY FRIENDLY!! (I have 3b type curls) My hair has never been SO happy before. I had the pleasure of sitting down in Ocean's chair a few weeks ago and when I tell you I could not have been more happy that I did. I've had grown out bangs, color just not doing it for me and I wanted so much more for my hair. She did that. She listened to everything I had to say about my hair and I was never afraid to speak out about what it was I wanted to change throughout it. The color is an exact match of what I wanted and she brought that into reality. She took her type in going throughout my hair both dry and wet in the cutting process and my curls are poppin. Ocean McDaeth is not only the Director of Education at Dreamboat, she is also an INCREDIBLE MAGIC WORKER STYLIST! I was a bit nervous walking into the salon last Wednesday as I booked an extra-long appointment to get a curly/wavy girl haircut and style for my first time ever seeing a curl specialist. I started my curly/wavy journey back in Dec 2023 and felt it was finally time to see someone who would help me love my natural texture. Ocean is a great listener, so thoughtful and thorough. It didn't feel like she did much to my hair when I was at the salon, but when I got home to rinse and restyle it (she styled it well, but I wanted to see what my products would do to it), I was in shock how much my hair sprang into action and seemed to really love whatever magic she managed to do with it. My hair is healthy, much curlier than expected and I'm on the 5th day of completely abusing it by hiking twice, no bonnet sleeping and refreshing it twice and I'm still so in love with how great my hair is (attached pictures are of day 5 hair just to give you an idea of what I'm talking about). I want to say that my hair is notoriously difficult because it's bleached, fine, lots of it, takes forever to dry, lost a bit due to a protein overload treatment in Nov 2023, it has like 4 different curl patterns and it gets weighed down to the point of looking straight and poofy if I brush it wet and don't have the right cut + products. Ocean knows wtf she is doing and is worth every single penny (and then some). I am so excited to have found her to help me nurse my hair back to health and fullness while enjoying how beautiful it can be in the process. You can 100% trust her with your hair. Go get that curly girl cut you've been dreaming about but have been too scared to try out. She's the lady to deliver the magical results. I will be going back to see her religiously and recruiting all my textured hair friends who are tired of getting yucky cuts elsewhere. Tip: book the extra-long appointment if it's your first time getting a curly/wavy cut and first time seeing Ocean. The extra time really allows her to give you the attention to detail that your hair probably needs and allows for a scalp/hair treatment as well as extra drying time. I booked an appointment with Ash for a partial highlight and trim to even the haircut I gave myself. She was nice but did overall highlights on my whole head. I was there for over 3 1/2 hours. I asked for natural golden highlights to enhance my natural color. The color I got was white-yellow and throughout my whole head. Hardly any of my original color remained. Seriously horrible. Kind of a crayon yellow. Then I got the bill. $465.00. $90.00 for the 3 minute trim she did to catch any stray hairs from the haircut I gave myself. No prices are mentioned on the website. I was in shock. When I got home I texted her and she set me up with Nicole who was supposed to fix the color for free the next day. . She refused to acknowledge the bad color and with great attitude put a toner on my hair which pretty much did nothing. Total nightmare. Don't go there. read more

I had the best experience getting my hair cut by Christy Fthenakis this week. First of all, this salon has the best vibes and style. You walk in and you are transported to a funky, plant-filled, vintage-inspired paradise. The name Dream Boat is so fitting. I couldn't get over the cuteness of the ambiance. Also, not going to lie, the ample street parking is a huge plus. Christy listened to what I wanted (a nod to a shag haircut, but not super severe). She really took the time to make sure she was understanding my desires and the execution was phenomenal. I also had a lovely, relaxing conversation with her that made the experience so enjoyable. She took the time to teach me about a low-maintenance way to style my new cut. I am sold - totally coming back to Christy for my haircut needs. Thank you Dream Boat! read more

I started going Nicole Derba about a year ago when she was working at another salon and I followed her to dreamboat. This woman is a queen. I went to her desperate after my hair was damage with beach from a different stylist at another location. I included a picture of what it looked like before. It's the orange hair with the burnt ends. I was so embarrassing with how it looked. Nicole took my hair purple and now to ice. She was upfront about what she could do with the damage I already had and told me she could help me get to where I wanted to go but it would be a process. She help me heal my hair but get to a place where I feel confident about it. Nicole is just absolutely amazing at what she does. She is also a genuinely cool person!! So if you want great hair and great conversation go see her at dreamboat. It ok if she get super busy because she'll alway make time for me..... right Nicole? read more

I love Dreamboat, and I LOVE Ocean! I was drawn to the salon because it's adorable, close to me, and I was really into their pay structure. I was so thrilled to work with Ocean, who absolutely transformed my long, fine flat hair, into something with movement and body. The color is gorgeous, the cut was incredible, and I'm getting so many compliments! The best part was Ocean's energy. She's so thoughtful, charming, and creative. She talked me through everything she did (though I know she also offers silent services if that's your thing) and I learned a lot about of info styling my hair that I can't believe I've gone so long without! Ainsley was also SO GREAT and helped with my color so things went by even faster (they were also such a great cheerleader telling me how good it looked). I followed Chelsea over to Dreamboat because she did my hair over the summer and I absolutely loved it! This time I got my highlights touched up, added some lowlights and got a trim for a great price, and Chelsea nailed it! She is super good at listening to what you want and is very knowledgeable, and also so kind. I wish I could say who my stylist is because she's amazing. I'm not going to give negative stars because I don't want to take away from my stylist's chance to get new clients. I have reviewed the salon all 5 on my Google Account, but waited a few months to post this because I am sure retaliation will aimed at my stylist. One of the owners, Stephanie, is very professional, cute as a button, and very nice. The other one, Ash, not so much. I overheard her bad mouthing one of the former stylists. She seems pretty two faced and petty. Apparently if you don't kiss her tush she will complain about every minute thing until you leave. The funny thing is, when I texted my stylist about this she wasn't surprised. She is always complaining about the restaurant workers using their restroom. But their customers use the restaurants. And constantly complains about everybody in the building, but behind their back. I was relieved to know that EVERYONE knows how she is and what she's said and done, but they choose to ignore her to keep the peace. In her little world she's the top dog. But in the real world she looks insecure and petty. read more

Nicole Derba at Dreamboat is the BEST colorist ever. If you're looking for an amazing colorist who is particularly gifted with blondes, Nicole is your girl. I'm so incredibly picky about my highlights and she consistently delivers the most glorious light buttery blonde (but never brassy) highlights. I've been going to her for years and have followed her to multiple salons because she's that good. Despite getting highlights every six weeks, my hair has been extremely healthy ever since I started going to Nicole. She's not only ridiculously talented but she's also so much fun to chat with. Ashley is the most talented hairdresser I have ever worked with. I trust her fully. Her salon is gorgeous and spotless. She is trained in curly cuts, razor cuts, and all the traditional methods. The best haircuts I've ever received have been from Ashley, and she's cut my hair in multiple styles over the years so is multifaceted in her skills. I now have extensions and am thrilled by how truly natural they look, how low maintenance they are, and how they make me feel more confident. Ashley has taken the time to teach me how to style my hair without heat (I don't even own a blowdryer) and even though I take far less time to style my hair these days, it looks better than it ever has in literally my entire life and my scalp and hair is healthier than it's ever been.
