Cute cafe with interesting menu items! It had a cute aesthetic and everyone was super friendly.
As an out of towner, my first experience at Dreamwave Coffee was everything I hoped for. Most importantly, the coffee was delicious, but what surprised us the most is how reasonably the prices were. To top it off, the staff were very friendly and the atmosphere/aesthetics were top notch. We ordered an iced 12oz of the High Tide (Coconut + Vanilla) and a Vanilla Latte. The coconut flavor was VERY mild, but still enjoyable and the latte was solid. If we hadn't eaten breakfast earlier in the morning, we definitely would've eaten here. It smelled more like diner than a coffee shop with the seductive scent of bacon filling the small space. Dreamwave Coffee is a charming coffee shop that deserves to be on your morning hit list!
I absolutely love this adorable coffee shop. It's located on El Camino Real in the CVS shopping center. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The tables are very cute in pink with scallop edging. They serve regular coffee as well as specialty drinks and simple breakfast. I like the Silly Old Bear because it has honey and cinnamon. I always order hot coffee. Oddly, it was served not very hot. I would call it lukewarm. That was my only complaint. Everything else was wonderful. They even sell their own merch, which is really cute.
I came in on a Saturday morning around 915am and this place was booming with customers. Luckily I made it a couple minutes early before they had another line out the door. First impression of this place is the cleanliness and how retro and chic it looks. This coffee joint definitely catches your attention. Merch, flowers, customized coffee cups (my favorite)...I definitely get the Carlsbad feel from this place. I decided to order the "Big Hot Mess" breakfast sandwich that did not disappoint on a brioche bun. I got recommended their "High Tide" signature drink which is one of their popular ones. Make sure you stir your drink completely so you can get the whole taste. If you like your coffee on the bitter side but with a hint of coconut then this drink is for you. Despite how busy the ladies were this morning they were extremely helpful and quickly got orders out. Thank you!
We were really excited to try this place. Everytime we go somewhere we love to try a local coffee shop. I got the high tide and my boyfriend got a vanilla latte. Not flavorful. I could taste as if the coffee grounds were burnt. We didnt enjoy our coffees sadly.
Came here for the Elite event. So good! Just down the road from my house. Walked in and was pleasantly greeted with a smile and good morning. Everyone in the shop was kind and friendly even with them being busy! The coffee was actually delicious (unlike those mainstream places) as was the breakfast sando. I'll definitely be back to this groovy little coffee shop. Oh! Also picked up this little hand knit Koozie as a gift for someone:)
What a cute spot tucked in this shopping center! We ordered an iced high tide latte (coconut vanilla) and the wake & bacon sandwich. The syrups and sauces are made in-house, and you could totally taste the difference - I have to ask for extra chipotle sauce next time! My drink was perfectly sweet and creamy, and the employees were so kind and generous, even with the crazy line this morning. I'll be back to try the honey cinnamon latte :))
The wife wanted a breakfast sandwich and we found this little cute spot in Carlsbad. First walking in, cute little store, was a little busy so you know it's good. They sell swag as well if you're interested. I ordered the wake and bacon sandwich, the person taking my order was super nice and sure to explain to me about any questions like what the drip coffee of the day was. My coffee came out pretty quick and it was hot, had to blow into the top a few tops to make sure I didn't burn my mouth. After a few moments my food came out after. Took a quick picture outside with my coffee, then took a bite. The bun wasn't over cooked or hard and the bacon was pretty good with the cheddar. Overall service was good, about 4-5 people working and constantly making food and drinks. The establishment was overall clean and I even saw a little kid station that young ones could pretend to be a barista. Overall happy with the service, coffee tasted great and food was yum! Drop by if you're in the area, won't be disappointed.
Wow the ube syrup was soooo good!!! My boyfriend got a latte with the ube syrup and I got an oat milk matcha latte with ube syrup. The combination was the perfect amount of sweetness, and the drink overall was refreshing and creamy. The last time I ordered the matcha, it tasted just like milk, really lacking the matcha flavor. They've definitely improved their recipe because the oat milk matcha had such good matcha flavor. Will definitely be coming again
Some of the best coffee and bagels I have had! The order taker and the barista were the sweetest! My latte and food came out so fast and was top quality. The actual place itself was SO cute and so clean, including their restroom. Finished my order so fast I barely got a picture .
- plaza parking so there's plenty of spots even on a weekend afternoon! - such a cool 90s inspired space (had street fighter you can play!) with thoughtfully designed merch - great and friendly service! - really cool and unique variety of drinks and syrups as well! I stuck to a classic iced caramel latte to taste their espresso and syrups - 10/10 drink - really strong yet smooth espresso that blended so well with that silky sweet (but not too sweet) caramel
Just had the El Santo again, this time the 16 oz (with oat milk) which I was told now has 4 shots of espresso!! Never had that many, so game on!! So good! Also got the wake and bacon with the chipotle on the side and that was sooo good too! I don't usually like chipotle but this was the best chipotle I've ever had! Less smokey more spicy but perfect amount of spicy! Great way to start the day! Yay! :) Staff is very nice and restroom super clean!
Had breakfast and coffee here and it was so busy here so told me it was definitely worth the wait. Didn't have a long wait for our coffee or at least it didn't feel like it. Had the Wake and Bacon & the Big Hot Mess sandwiches and wow, what a party in my mouth. The Wake and Bacon had the perfect texture of crispy bacon with chipotle sauce, omg so good! The Big Hot Mess was sweet & spicy at the same time, to me it was the perfect amount of spice but my husband likes spicy so he wanted like hot sauce to add to it. So we got lucky and they gifted us 2 additional drinks to our order. Coffee was strong but didn't taste too strong! They hit the nail on the head with their espresso to milk ratios, so good. I'd recommend the The Dream out of the 4 drinks I had there. How fun was it to play Street Fighter on Superninetdo btw? LOVED the 90s art.

Very kind staff! The decor of the place is so cute-- I wish I wasn't in such a rush I would've taken pictures/chilled out there. I got the small Silly little bear latte (honey cinnamon) & let me tell you, the flavor packs a punch without being overly sweet. It a great balance of coffee and flavor. Keep in mind, all the sizes have the same amount of espresso shots (2shots) I got a small and that was the perfect amount for it! I'd probably add an extra shot to the larger sizes. read more

Not only is this a cute and fun spot, the staff was welcoming, and the coffee and food are delicious. I tried the "High Tide" (coconut vanilla latte), and the "Wake and Bacon Sandwich". Both were great. Coffee was perfect, not too sweet, yet sweet enough, and a latte art on top was picture perfect. The breakfast sandwich was great. Next time I'll ask for the aïoli on the side though, since it got a little bit messy ;) Super yummy though. I'll definitely be back :) read more
I've been to this place several times and love the vibe of the interior! They have some cool artwork and even offer protein donuts. I used to come often for the Banana Bread Head latte but unfortunately they don't offer it anymore. It was so good!! Got the macadamia nut latte on this occasion, but always hoping they'll bring back my old favorite! read more
Dreamwave is a really hip place for specialty coffee. I love that the syrups are house-made and the decor is inspired by the 90s. That's sooo fly! It has a crazzzy fun atmosphere too. The staff are always totally rad. Sometimes, it can get a little crowded but the staff are able to manage it. I wish they had the Pumpkin Spice Latte that was posted on the wall. I reeeally wanted to try it. If an item is no longer available, I thought the info about it would be taken down. Anyway, my overall positive experience there wasn't overshadowed by this incident. I've had both the coconut vanilla latte and the macadamia nut latte here and both are excellent. Macadamia nut latte is very subtle, coconut vanilla has a very strong coconut flavor. One thing I really appreciate and I consider a staple for an excellent coffee shot is house made syrups and Dreamwave has an excellent assortment of them. The menu isn't particularly large, but they have a great selection of unique options. Everyone working there was very cordial and kind. The space is a bit small, but it has a really collect aesthetic and murals inside. There's some small tables, but for me it was a little more of a grab and go kind of establishment. Overall very good lattes, not crazy sweet and I love the uniqueness. I will definitely be back again soon. read more

I stopped by for a quick fix. Loved how they're open later than other coffee shops, they close at 5 on Saturdays. Decor is nostalgic. Felt like I was in the 90's and with the modern architecture it makes for a comforting coffee vibe atmosphere. The staff were really friendly and informative. I discovered which signature drinks are the most popular and sweetness level. They make their own syrups in-house too. I went with an Iced Macadamia Latte. It was delicious. I've had their Silly Old Bear and if you enjoy a Honey Latte, get it! In my experience...the food is a bit inconsistent. The sandwich bread from the Wake & Bacon was dry. The bread was too crunchy. However, from a separate occasion I had their Big Hot Mess and that was well made. I'll definitely be coming back to visit. I'm giving them 4 stars for their drinks, customer care, and coffee shop feel. Food area has great potential! read more

Cute new little nostalgic coffee shop! My kiddos had so much fun playing street fighter! They make sodas with their homemade syrups. My kids loved them. Coffee was great and staff was very nice. We will definitely be back for breakfast sandwiches next time. And maybe turn our phone in for some video games. So fun. read more

It was my boyfriend and I's first visit here and we had an INCREDIBLE experience, coffee was amazing and all their syrups are house-made, making it all 10x better. I was immediately greeted by the friendly and attentive staff here. Mike introduced himself personally and even gave some great recommendations, since it was my first time trying. I got the el Santo iced latte and it was great, not an overbearing horchata flavor and the breakfast bagel I had was amazing! 10/10 experience. Dreamwave Coffee immediately became our favorite coffee and matcha shop! We love trying everything they have to offer and nothing has ever disappointed. They have so many fun and delicious homemade syrups that can be added to any drinks. My go-to is the vanilla coconut iced matcha or the brown sugar rosemary iced matcha. Ive loved the mint julep iced matcha and macadamia nut iced matcha too, but those flavors aren't as noticeable as the first two. So if you like just subtle sweetness in each sip those last two would be perfect! I love their matcha since they do use ceremonial grade matcha. You can just tell in every sip. My husband's favorite is The Dream (Macadamia Nut Latte) and we understand why it's called The Dream. No latte even compares to it as it is just a perfectly nutty flavor, not too sweet, and you can still taste the delicious espresso. Just a fantastic balance overall. Not only are their drinks and baked goods delicious, but their vibes are immaculate. The cafe is very welcoming with fun murals, great seating, and a barista crew that loves to be there. The owner is also so nice and welcoming too! He was there for our first visit to explain everything and it was cool to hear how it all started. So happy to have found and support a new local favorite! read more

Great neighborhood coffee shop. Located in a shopping with lots of parking. Very unassuming from the entrance but it had a pretty amazing and unique decor. Even a little serving station for kids. Its a small place like with 5 tables, but and inviting atmosphere. Ordered a Cortado with almond mill which was perfectly made. read more

Cozy coffee and breakfast spot that's kid friendly and has kind staff. The breakfast sandwich was tasty and hot, I enjoyed it. The latte was also crafted well. It was really busy when I first got there so didn't have a proper table to sit at and eat on but if tables were open it'd be an ideal experience. Parking was easy in the lot. read more

I'm so glad there's a local coffee shop in this center! There's always been a bunch of coffee chains around this area so it's a nice switch up. I always prefer the homemade syrups and family feel of the local shops more. This place was no exception! I went with the extremely delicious banana bread latte. Probably my favorite banana flavored thing i've ever had! It was super creamy and caramel-y and delicious. I would definitely make the trek from South County to have this again and to try their food. I just want to say , DREAMWAVE COFEE IS HOME to me . I say that because not only does the baristas make the tastiest specialty coffee but they make you feel like family . I am very picky when it comes to quality coffee & they get it right EVERY TIME! I go there almost daily with my dogs Bella & Maya .. right when I walk in they greet me by my first name , know my order & have a treat already waiting for my fur babies . Great coffee spot, with fun unique flavors! They make their syrups in house. We got "the dream" which is a macadamia nut latte and the "home run" which is orange cinnamon flavored (it's a great combination). Both were really good! They ran out of the "El Santo" so we'll need to come back to try out the Horcata flavored latte! You can't go wrong with this place! RECOMMENCED! read more
Coffee Bean got an upgrade! Here for this cutie alt coffee shop. The vibes are playful, clean, and retro. The menu has all the hits + some yummy looking breakfast items. The retro video game, the free rings for kids, the board books - kids keep busy! It's not annoyingly "kids friendly" and chaotic. It's a perfect balance of fun, minimal, while still giving parents some space to enjoy their coffee, HOT. read more

Cute local coffee shop. A few tables inside or a 3 larger ones inside. Come for the coffee , maybe not the bagels. I was not impressed with the bagels but my iced latte was very tasty! The caramel is overpowering so if you don't want your drink too sweet maybe add less or skip it. read more
I AM OBSESSED. This new spot opened up in Carlsbad, CA in the Vons shopping center off El Camino and let me tell you... it's my new go-to. Not only is it an absolute VIBE in there with nostalgic decor and some trippy murals (I live for that stuff), but the coffee is INCREDIBLE. The owner, Mike, is such a solid dude -- so kind and just genuinely happy to be there. He roasts all his own coffee and recommended the Dream and High Tide lattes. We obviously ordered both of them and they were delicious! The dream is a macadamia nit latte which was robust and flavorful. The high tide was a vanilla coconut latte which was not overpowering and really delightful. Neither latte was overly sweet, and all the syrups are made in-house which you can taste. Quality coffee, great price point and friendly, awesome vibes! Oh and... support your local coffee shops, PLEASE! read more
If you're into good coffee, tasty eats, and nostalgia, Dreamwave Coffee is your new go-to. The food and drinks? Legit. HIGHLY recommend The Dream, which is the macadamia nut latte iced and a Big Hot Mess sando, which is honestly neither hot nor messy, but delicious nonetheless. I'm definitely coming back for the Oreo Freezewave next time, Great vibes all around for the staff and ambiance. They even have Streetfighter playable on an old school tv. I found Dreamwave through Yelp and visited while I was in Carlsbad. I originally went because I wanted to try the horchata latte, but I decided to try the silly old bear instead. I enjoyed the honey cinnamon flavor of the iced latte. The breakfast sandwich options sounded amazing. They also had some fun sounding drinks like the banana bread latte. The employees were friendly and greeted us upon entering. The vibe inside the shop is inviting and fun artwork. I had a great visit at Dreamwave! read more
Dreamwave coffee is such a cute find! It's right near the Carlsbad mall so if you need to power up for some shopping, stop by and get one of their amazing lattes! I had a Horchata Latte and I loved the cinnamon flavors in there. I also had a Crème de Pistachio Vegan chia pudding out of their display case and it was really good! They also carry Gluten free donuts from The Goods which is one of my favorites and they have a kids corner and cool designs on the walls and merchandise as well that were designed by the owner. Cute little coffee shop located where coffee bean used to be. Lots of unique curated coffees as well as the standard regulars. Super nice staff very helpful and knowledgeable. There's a great patio outside with round tables that would seat up to eight and really pretty plants inside galvanized bins. Seating inside is plentiful, with kind of a quirky ambience. Quick service. Got an iced coconut vanilla latte. Coconut flavor was slightly too much for my taste. Lot of offerings tho otherwise. Half debated getting one of their thermos mugs because of the art work being cool. Baristas were friendly, 4-5 tables to sit at inside. read more

Incredible service by the owner and all staff. Everyone is really friendly. They roast their own beans in Mission Valley and the love of the craft shows in the product. I got The Dream- a macadamia nut latte. Perfectly balanced, not sweet, just magical. My friend took a recommendation to get a matcha with the coconut vanilla syrup. She loved it. We got the Bagel & Dream Cheese and the Wake & Bacon, both were tasty we loved the cream cheese so much. While waiting for our coffee there was a retro Nintendo game for us to play. Super intentional and awesome space, hope to be back soon! Overall, please come and support this local shop doing everything right read more

Stand alone - it's where the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf used to be. In the same strip as Mexico Viejo, Hooked on Sushi, Dexter's Deli etc.
