I came in on a Saturday afternoon with my two-year-old son about a month ago and honestly I don't have enough good things to say about this place. I wish I remembered the employee's name who took my order, but he was so kind and helpful in recommending what to get since it was my first time there. I'm an experienced coffee drinker but I love trying new drinks at places I've never been too. I also have 4 years of barista experience from when I was in college, so I absolutely love when I go to a place and I feel welcomed by staff. It makes the biggest difference. The design and aesthetic of the shop is so cool and different. You just don't really see that often which is also so nice. They had a little area of toys to play with for kids which I thought was just amazing because it kept my two-year-old occupied while we were waiting for my matcha. This coffeeshop has been a spot that I have been wanting to check out for a while. We came around 10AM for a bite to eat and some drinks. Unfortunately they were all sold out of hot food when we arrived. We ended up opting for 2 Sourdough Blueberry muffins which were 10/10! For drinks we ordered Drip Coffee - can't say much about it since this was my dad's order and he is usually pleased with any coffee Horchata Matcha with Oat- This was my partner's drink and unfortunately it was not the best matcha. It needed more sweetness but overall tasted like water. The horchata flavor was faint. The matcha was overpowered by the plant milk. Rosemary Matcha with Oat- This was my order and it seemed up my alley since I love bold flavors. I actually enjoyed the faint rosemary hint but the matcha and milk were not balanced with each other. It was too milky so there was barely any flavor. The service- There was a brother and sister duo who tag teamed making drinks and helping with orders. Customer service was excellent. The guy ended up helping with recommending what flavors to add to our matchas. There was a bit of a line and ended up waiting 20 minutes for all our drinks. It is a quiet little place with little seating indoors and a couple outdoor tables. Not sure if we would want to visit again but worth to give it a try. (maybe it was just the matchas?) read more

Found this shop because I needed coffee and decided to stop in Carlsbad, Loved the interior of the shop, felt like a great lowkey dream sequence vibe. It reminded me of the Dreamland album by Glass Animals. The baristas were so helpful, nice, kind and sweet! Belle and the other 2 girls whose names I didn't catch because I was in a slight rush driving back to OC! It is clear why this coffee shop has such a high rating. I asked the barista for a recommendation and she recommended I try the the Home run latte which is orange cinnamon flavor. Originally I wasn't going to pick that one out but I decided to try it and I'm so glad I did, it was 10/10, so good! The orange really adds a unique but amazing flavor! I also got the Bagle and dream cheese which is a Bagle with honey walnut cream cheese with orange zest. I was a little skeptical at first but wow I have never had cream cheese like that before it was amazing! Others in my group got the Wake & Bacon which they said was also great which had a a house made Chipotle sauce that wasn't spicy but had a nice zest to it. The virtu bowl was a prepackaged pistachio, chia seed yogurt bowl which has 25g of protein and was very yummy, light, and fluffy. We also tried the dream latte which was great too. The owner was very friendly and gave us a whole introduction of his menu and what goes into this local coffee shop. They roast their coffee beans just in Mission Valley and make a dang good strawberry matcha, even if it wasn't on the menu. Have to say, thanks for the free coffee to try it. Unfortunately it was not very good. Overheated and no coffee flavor whatsoever. For me cappuccinos/coffee need to be at the correct temp, otherwise they lose all flavor and become very watery. It was no good. But it sure gave me jitters. That said I decided to try my wifes coffee which was also a cappuccino. Just not overheated as much. More appropriate temp. Still no flavor at all. Very blah coffee. Very thin, no depth to it at all. Nothing. I appreciate the attempt here, cute place and they have stay-in mugs instead of all paper cups/plastic tops to throw out. While sitting there waiting for my coffee, I just believe this to be a place that focuses on the foofy flavored iced coffees. But for me I am a traditionalist and if you have bad coffee it really shows it's head in a cappuccino, or espresso. I am sorry, this place is not for me. The coffee was flavorless and watery.
