UPDATE: Following my initial review, I was contacted multiple times by the sale staff, including…read moretext messages, phone calls, and even an uninvited visit to my home. They requested that I remove this review, stating it would result in someone losing their job. I have since filed a formal complaint with Kia's corporate office regarding this behavior. Unfortunately, I have yet to receive any follow-up or apology from the dealership regarding these concerning and invasive actions. *** I recently visited Coastal Kia to test drive a car, but the experience left me frustrated due to high-pressure tactics and a lack of transparency. Although I ultimately purchased a car I'm happy with, I was pressured to make a decision immediately, despite expressing that I wanted to leave and think about the purchase. Following the transaction, I was surprised to find $6,000 in "packages" and "plans" included in the total cost, which were never discussed with me. When I called the dealership to address this, I spoke with both Uber and my salesperson, Riley. Riley explained that the packages included things like paint touch-ups, but I was still disappointed that these fees weren't clearly explained upfront. I was also frustrated that other car options weren't shown to me, which made me feel pushed into a decision that stretched my budget. At Riley's suggestion, I returned to the dealership to discuss the details. Since Riley was unavailable, I met with Uber, who confirmed that the "packages" were essentially dealer markups, with the paint touch-ups being part of a $0 exterior protection plan. Noting my frustration, Uber offered to refund the credit card fee on my down payment and provide all-weather mats--on the condition that I sign an agreement not to share my experience publicly. This request made me uncomfortable, and I didn't feel right about it. I was then referred to Peggy, the Operations Manager, who offered several goodwill gestures, including all-weather mats, a cargo cover, a roof rack, and a refund of my credit card fee. She even asked if I wanted to return the car. I told them I needed to think about it and would make a decision when I came back for my tags. Not twenty minutes later, Peggy called to offer an additional $1,000 as part of the resolution. While I verbally accepted this offer, the written agreement to not speak about my experience, which I reviewed a few days later, felt overly restrictive. After requesting clarifying changes, I ultimately decided not to sign. Another concern was the purchase process itself. Jan, who handled financials, showed me a diagram explaining how to complete the company survey and offered to fill my gas tank if I completed it at the dealership. This felt like undue pressure to provide positive feedback, which only added to my discomfort. While I'm happy with the car, the buying experience at Coastal Kia was upsetting. The lack of transparency and high-pressure tactics detracted from what should have been an exciting milestone. I hope Coastal Kia takes steps to improve their practices, prioritize transparency, and create a better experience for future customers. (Attached are photos of the car sticker detailing the additional "packages" and "plans" and the survey diagram provided by Jan.)

I would also like to note that they haven't made contacted with me for my refund the dealership for the last months has ignored me about receiving a refund because they will not respond. I paid 1000$ dollars before even taking the car off the lot, which was the guarantee that I was bringing a paycheck to them for the rest of the loan. They took and they didn't respond nor are they willing to work with me to give my 1000 deposit back. I would have stopped contacting if they would have simply said it was non refundable. At this point the back and forth is time consuming shows a lot, I have my own small business and treat customers better. I just happened to have a family emergency it was only 1 day they would have had to wait. I stopped dealing with them because they continued to threaten me with police while I had a check written for them and showed proof of fund at the dealer which is why they let me take it off the lot with the keys. I left the car at my school for them to pick it up in case they had any more tricks to pull. I have so many message threads I could post but the last thing I have to say is be careful who you chose to make a big purchase especially if you are in a bad situation and trying to get real help from people who "care" :)

After a short conversation we left our vehicle and went to lunch. I received texts, emails, and a phone call about the inspection with recommendations on what should be done. Most of the items on the list actually needed servicing and maintenance. One thing that stood out was the tires. The set of tires on the vehicle are high mileage tires that are not near the rating. They kept texting and making sure I didn't want new tires. Other than the back and forth about tires, everything went well and the price range was right around what I expected. This is the dealership where we purchased the vehicle new in 2012. Between here and Jacksonville Toyota all the vehicle maintenance history can be retrieved if needed. I would recommend this dealership for vehicle maintenance and service.

BUYERS BEWARE! On…read moreNovember 15, 2022, my son bought a Chevy Cruze from T&G Value Center. He worked all summer to buy a car for transportation to and from school. We inquired about the dirt crusted oil appearance on the lower front part of the engine. Mike Griffin assured us that what we were seeing was were a previous oil leak had been, and that his mechanic had repaired the hoses on the front bottom of the engine. He continuously assured us that there were no issues with the car, that he had his mechanic thoroughly service the car. Mind you that we did not see any oil on the pavement where the car was parked. The next morning we awoke to oil leaking from the car. We carried the car to our local Chevrolet dealer and it will cost $4500 to pair the many oil leaks in the engine. Chevrolet recommends replacing all the hoses and seals on the car engine. We called to inform Mike about the problem with the car and he made all sorts of excuses, but no reference to assisting us with fixing the car. Based on my interactions with him I feel it is my responsibility as a consumer to warn as many people as possible about this con-man! I know there are many more consumers who have been conned by T&G Value Center and/or Mike Griffin Auto Center. I am writing this review to warn perspective car buyers to stay away from T&G Value Center (aka Mike Griffin Auto Center). Mike Griffin is a proven liar and a dishonest car salesman! Mike was fully aware of this problem at the time of sale and did not disclose this information to me. I know this because the van needed a recall. When I took the van to the recall dealer (Bob King Autohaus of Wilmington), they said the previous owner, Mike Griffin (T&G), had already been informed a month earlier that the recall could not be performed because the van had been modified from original and that modification must be fixed before any recall could be performed. The recall dealer produced the invoice given to Mike with the denied services and the cost of the fix, ($3900 plus tax). All signed by Mike one month before I bought the van. No mention of this defect was ever brought to my attention during our transaction even though I asked if there were any issues with the van and if Mike or T&G had any records for the van. When he finally returned my calls he told me he was not required to share that information with me and had no intentions of providing any compensation.

Matthews Motors did a great job on my truck. Everyone in the service department is extremely nice…read more Back in June I took my truck in Spark Plugs replacement, Fuel injector cleaning, Oil Change, State Inspection, Thermostat replacement and Oil sensor replacement. After picking the truck up the first time, I discovered the thermostat wasn't working as the coolant fan never turned off and the oil sensor notification was still dinging. I took it back and Matthews Motors offered me a loaner vehicle while they looked at and worked on the truck. When I picked the truck up the 2nd time the truck has been working great. Thermostat and oil sensor issues both resolved and they didn't try to stick me with any additional charges. Overall I'm pleased. I would definitely go back. I left a 4 star instead of 5 only because while I'm happy with the end result, I was surprised the truck was returned to me without being fully fixed; and also, they did have my truck for about 3.5 or 4 weeks in total. I think they may have been understaffed when I took my truck in. But stuff happens right? It's how a company reacts to hiccups like that that separate the good ones from the bad ones. Turns out Matthews Motors is one of the good ones. If you need to have your vehicle repaired, I think that Matthews Motors will do everything they can to make sure your vehicle is fixed up and that you're happy. Seems to be a good company with a friendly and capable staff.
