I stopped by the donut shop on my way home. It was kind of hidden and hard to find. The employees were very nice and pleasant. I stopped with my family and ordered decaf coffee and they had none. We then settled for regular coffee and they had to make it as there was none prepared. The donuts and such looked delicious. We ordered donuts and an apple fritter. They did not serve us what we saw but instead opened a drawer and got the items from there. Don't know how long they had been in the drawer but when we finally bit into them, it appeared they had been there for some time as they were hard and very crispy. Needless to say, they went in the trash. The price was, of course, double what we pay at a local donut shop. If you pass by Buellton, I highly recommend you go elsewhere for coffee and donuts. read more

Gods Country Provisions has come a long way in the two weeks since reopening. I've been three times since opening and they have improved efficiency and their inventory. The two times prior they have had very few donuts on the shelf which might still be an issue when they are busy. I've also seen them grab donuts from under the shelf when somebody asks if they have more of something so be weary it's possible not everything is on their display. My favorite donut here is their specialty fruit loop donut, which I am bummed to hear is rotating off the menu but being replaced with a Cinnamon Toast Crunch donut as a monthly rotation to different cereals. The new decor brings new life from what Donut Time used to be, it is now a fun, hip spot in my eyes. I look forward to seeing how this donut shop grows. read more

Donuts are good, always interesting flavors / types and the staff is always friendly. Unfortunately, I ordered a large latte Easter Sunday, I received half a cup of what tastes like watered-down coffee...they seem to get it right about 2 out of 5 times. Yum. Yum. Tucked away in back of building and very nondescript is donut heaven. When they sell out they are done. I've been twice and brought back friends the second time. Maple with bacon? The crunch and saltiness of bacon is subtle but so yummy. The cinnamon rolls are chewy and tender and seasoned just right and good even the next afternoon. But since taking over the business, this new shop really runs short on variety. I've been in more than 6 times now and they always have the same 6 doughnut's as a selection. They run out of their Maple Bacon glazed before 9am and leave you looking at a difficult choice of a doughnut with a wine glaze or a blueberry cake doughnut with a lemon glaze. Really? Learn how to project your batch sizes and make enough to go through the morning. No one wants to settle for a wine glaze on a doughnut - no one! Because I want a selection, creativity and a real passion for doughnut making, I am willing to drive 10 more minutes to Orcutt to go to a real doughnut shop and leave with what I want - a variety of 2 dozen beautiful donuts that bring a smile when I enter the house! read more

I've been 2x; first time walked out after waiting too long in long line watching one person struggling to help customers. Second experience was this past Saturday morning, was very disappointed to see only one employee again struggling with a long line. Her process in being efficient was torture to watch. Rather than donut to bag/box, she put each donut as it was ordered on a tray behind her......one by one. Then she transferred them again to bog/box. Not efficient and frustrating for the long line of customers waiting. Owners- now that Covid restrictions are lifted, maybe consider self serve model? Self pour coffee? You have to be losing customers as many don't want to wait 20/30 minutes for a donut and coffee. read more

Almost but not quite....I honestly only came here after reading they had gluten free donuts! Say what, gluten free donuts in Buellton, hard find. Came in one morning, not many people but had to wait awhile. They need a speedier process that's for sure! I asked about their gluten free donuts and they have two kinds, chocolate and vanilla cake donut kind. Ordered two chocolate and a few regular donuts for the rest of the family, the one blonde kid tried putting my two gluten free donuts into the bag with the regular donuts, I had to yell to stop him..... if your going to sell gluten free items please teach your staff about it! I do have to stay the gluten free donuts are delicious!!! But unfortunately they don't make them everyday. didn't think there was such thing as a gross donut until I tried Gods County. Not trying to be mean just honest. I've bought a total of 4 on 4 different occasions to try to give them a chance. This spot is hard to find, hidden behind Jack n the Box and barely a sign on the place, you could easily drive right by even if you knew it was there. Luckily there was a little "open" sign lit up. The doughnuts were big and soft and fresh. Maple Bacon: The maple coating was too sweet and had too much artificial maple flavoring, it completely overwhelmed any taste of bacon. If you pick the bacon off and eat it separately it tastes great. Some problem with the Peanut Butter Cup donut, the chocolate icing is icky-sweet and so that's all you taste, barely a hint of peanut butter really. The big jelly donut was plump full of the standard donut-house jelly filling but again....drenched in powdered sugar when just a light dusting would be plenty. GPD is truly a hidden gem of a doughnut shop hidden in a nondescript strip mall with a standard "doughnut " sign. Once you go in, you will see a limited menu...but that is for a reason. They make high-quality product but limited production of the best tasting doughnuts I've had in a long time. My favorites are the maple-bacon doughnut and the ham and cheese croissant. Definitely crowd-pleasers that will have you coming back for more! But they have more custom flavors to try. Note: when I say LIMITED PRODUCTION, I am serious. If you don't get there early when they open, you will most likely miss their best flavors. So, if you find a flavor or type you love and you want to make sure they have what you need, I strongly suggest you pre-order a day or two in advance, especially for guests who love a special morning treat.
