As a Taiwanese, I find the dish here too salty and flavorless. We ordered a 3 cup chicken and a Dan Dan noodle.

Was really expecting to love this place, the reviews are great. However, this was one of the most disappointing meals we have ever had. We got two beers, each one was good but very expensive. We got pork buns to start, followed by the chicken sandwich and dan dan noodles. Everything tasted like fry oil. This is definitely not what you would expect for an $80 meal. The food is okay. But the service is horrible. Here is what happened. My friends and me went for a quick dinner, and the store looks pretty empty when we arrived. We ordered two noodle bowls. Then things went down the road pretty quickly. We waited for at least 20 minutes (according to our credit card payment time) at the table for our noodles, which is unexpected. I went to check with the server to see what's going on. The server was very impatient and keep saying that the short rib we ordered need 15 minutes to prepare. I explain that we have been waiting for almost 30 minutes. In a few minutes, the server stopped at our table and repeated that "the meat takes 15 minutes". I got a bit upset and emphasized again we have been waiting for 20 minutes at least, and ask him not to lie about the time. My friend went softer by saying that we are hungry at 9:30pm after a long flight. The server then started accusing us not ordering appetizers if we were hungry. I got very upset on that comment. I mean, nobody warned us that a noodle soup will take such a long time to cook. Later, we heard him cursing us using unpleasant language on his way back to the kitchen. In general, the food was okay. The server might have gone through a bad day for other reasons, but it's not cool to say those things to your customers. read more

First time. Good food but not much selection. I didn't vibe with all of it. 3 menus per person? Two names? The sign is hard to identify, cold near the block wall and windows and my pet peeve with suggested tip starts at 18% and goes up to 25%. Otherwise the broth was really good. Worst "asian" food I've ever had; it was so bad, I'm actually offended. Total waste of ingredients. I hate panda express, but this is so bad, I'd gladly eat at panda over this. Even at first glance, the food didn't look the right color, and looked incredibly suspicious. Flavor was absolutely horrendous. How do you turn mapo tofu into a suspicious, watered down, overly sweet gravy. Honestly at that point, just buy the sauce packets from the asian market. I honestly had high hopes for this place as I saw their ads and as a Taiwanese, I love checking out Taiwanese restaurants. Firstly the positives, the drinks were great! I wish they had some more choices for beer/tap but it was still a decent amount. The service was awesome, the servers and hosts were friendly and very sweet. The ambience and setup were also cool, especially with the open kitchen. However, I was disappointed in the food to say the least. We ordered a decent amount of dishes to try (Taiwanese fried chicken, mapo tofu, crab Rangoon dip, Dan Dan mian and Taiwanese pork belly. Everything was properly cooked, however the flavors weren't great. The first dish I tried was the Taiwanese fried chicken which is my absolute favorite dish of my childhood so I have high standards for it. The flavor of the chicken was good and it was fried perfectly crispy and juicy. However I wish the chicken was marinated so the meat inside also held more flavor as most of the seasoning/flavor was on the exterior. The Taiwanese fried chicken was the favorite of all the dishes. Dan Dan Mian was lacking flavor, it wasn't as flavorful as most Dan Dan mian but the noodles were cooked perfectly al dente. The pork belly had good flavor but I don't think I would call it Taiwanese, it was very sweet and the spices used were a lot different than what I've had before. Definitely threw me off but it wasn't bad, just different. The crab rangoon dip was also very different flavor wise. It was overly sweet in my opinion and the flavor reminded me more of a spicy Mayo crab mix of sushi rather than crab rangoon. It wasn't bad but also not what I was expecting for crab rangoon. Lastly the mapo tofu which was by far the worst dish of them all, it was overly soupy and the flavor was off as well as not being spicy at all despite ordering it spicy. I understand there are so many various versions of mapo tofu however most of them have a similar strong flavor base of doubanjian (bean paste) which I didn't taste too much. It was also lacking any spice like peppers (white/black pepper and Sichuan peppercorn). It was just disappointing to eat. I apologize for the lengthy review and harsh criticism but I hope this is taken as constructive criticism rather than an attack as I would like to give them another try. read more

The mapo tofu was sweet and soupy, the pan fried pork buns which were an appetizer came out last ( wasn't impressed ) Only thing good was the fried rice ( high honestly how can you screw that up). The chili oil was rancid. Prices were high. I would defiantly skip this place. read more

Love the atmosphere in the place, hip industrial. Food was very disappointing. The marinated cucumbers were mushy and super saturated with soy sauce, saltiness was over the top. Chicken was nice and tender but way over-spiced with Chinese 5-spice, great if you like licorice flavor. Bok choy was pretty much inedible it was tough as nails. Eggplant was also over-spiced, with ...not sure, ...rice vinegar and many other flavors that were trying too hard to make eggplant something it's not. Would have preferred healthier offerings that include minimally sauced and less manipulated fresh veggies. read more

Great marketing. Makes you feel like the food will be good. The plates are very expensive and the quality is terrible. Absolute worst Asian food I've ever had. If you want jack in the box there is one down the street on State. Don't go here. Service was also bad, saw our server twice the entire time just for her to serve us the warmest water in Utah. We have been chasing the memory of a bowl of Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup since we first experienced in NYC, and I think we finally found it here. The staff was extremely friendly and very professional. We ordered take out and it did take about an hour, which is what the app estimated before payment. It was well worth the wait! We ordered Dan Dan Noodles,Taiwanese Fried Chicken! Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup, and Sticky Ribs. All were unique, amazing, and delicious. We also bought some of their condiments. Pickled Serranos, Chili Oil, Potsticker Soy Sauce, and Chili Ginger Sambal, and Drunken Kitchens own version of a Sriracha, only a thousand times better and tastier. I am not a fan of Sriracha, but I fell in love with their version. They should call it DrunkenKitchensracha. The other condiments were also unique and very delicious. The fried chicken came with a Drunken Kitchen version of Sriracha. The chicken was fried to perfection. The Dan Dan Noodles were an entree we have never experienced to be so delicious. The noodles were thick, long, and you can tell they are fresh made from scratch. We experienced them with all the condiments separately. The Sticky Ribs were very sticky and came with a very unique Super Sticky Taiwanese BBQ sauce. The Taiwanese Beef Noodles came with the same thick long fresh made noodles, Bok Choy, and chunks of slow cooked beef roast and vegetables in a very tasty broth. We look forward to experiencing other delicious food menu items. Especially the pound of Fried Wings, and Pork Belly entree. My family and I are in SLC for a flight back to LA. We visited the Yellowstone and Teton National Parks for a week and were craving for some authentic Asian food. We came across Drunken Kitchen on our way to to our hotel. We ordered the Taiwanese Beef Noodles and Pork Popstickers. Both were very delicious and the large portions. The noodles were freshly made and very fresh. We have pretty high standards when it comes to Chinese food and would highly recommend this place to anyone. The food was horrible, honestly, it's built for a non-asian crowd. Got the overpriced Dan dan noodles that came in a laughable bowl, peanuts were huge and abundant, bok choy was barely steamed, noodles were so thick and doughy, sauce was nothing special at all and dont even get me started on the mango sticky rice. It was consistent with porridge, no sweetness, and the mangos were crunchy !! As an asian person, DO NOT GO. We ordered the chicken wings and the pork pans with the fresh mango sticky rice The chicken wasn't cooked and it needed more flavor. It was unsalted, and the pork buns were over cooked very dry and sticky rice was OK but not my favorite. We ordered by phone and picked up the food to go. We ordered braised pork bowl, Dan Dan noodle, pork potstickers, pork buns, sticky ribs, and fried rice. The food was edible but didn't have much flavor. Definitely didn't live up to the hype. The food tasted old and reheated (very dry). Pork buns had a strange after taste and the sticky ribs tasted burnt with slight bitterness. We were looking forward to authentic Taiwanese tasting food but unfortunately we will not be back. We did take out from DK and was impressed with the food and quality of food! I went inside to pick it up and was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness of the kitchen as well. When I recieved confirmation that their vegetarian options are vegan friendly with rice instead of noodles, I was so stoked to try them out! They are a pick up and delivery only place, open only on Fridays but their take on Taiwanese and Chinese is superb. Both were delicious. The serving size is also very large. The DanDan noodles were enough for 2 large meals.
