On a Tuesday night, this place was not very crowded. We were a group of six and were seated very quickly. Our server truly knew her whiskey and bourbon and easily helped one of us choose a drink based on his personal preferences. He definitely liked what he got. I'm not a huge fan of whiskey and bourbon so I just chose the Rum Row cocktail which I enjoyed. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and substituted the chips with garlic and Parmesan fries. The chicken was very good. It was crunchy, moist, and had a special flavor too. Also they put two big pieces of chicken into the sandwich so it was double the goodness. The fries were great as well. Always wanted to try this place and glad I finally got to. I got the whiskey sour to start off with and it was the perfect balance for me. For food wise, my boyfriend and I were starving so we decided to try many things. The wings (spicy pomegranate and bourbon bbq) were decent wings. The dry 85 burger was my favorite dish. I loved the cole slaw in the burger and it was cooked perfectly to medium rare. The fried chicken sandwich was not what I expected at all. It was so dry and had no flavor. The pork was my least favorite out of the four dishes we ordered. It was so dry and for $28 it was not worth it all. Overall, i had a good time and our waiter was a cool guy. The food was so so. I ordered the oyster po boy sliders. They were fresh but I choose not have the red pepper sauce on them since I prefer things not spicy. They did not have another sauce option that was not spicy besides ketchup. No sauce on the sliders resulted in them being dry. My friend ordered the black bean burger, which fell apart the moment she picked it up. That was disappointing. She always orders black bean burgers and the consistency has never been so loose. The best part about the meal were the Parmesan fries but of course there was an up charge for them instead of chips. Our waitress was very rushed and hardly checked on us. Impressive whiskey & cocktail list. I wish we could have tried it. When we arrived, there were about 5 patrons sitting at the bar. I asked the bar tender if we should sit ourselves outside, or if there was a host. He said to seat ourselves. I asked if we should order with him. He said a server would be out shortly. We grabbed a table outside and waited for about 10 minutes. Someone came out, adjusted another table, then went back inside - we weren't sure if she was a server, or a patron debating if she wanted to bring her friends outside. About 5 minutes later, she came back out and seated a couple at another table outside, providing water and silverware for them. She ignored us. After another 5 minutes passed without seeing another restaurant employee, we gave up and left. Galway Bay seated us immediately, took our order within minutes, and introduced us to some great Irish whiskey we would never have tried otherwise. We really wanted to like this place. read more

Excellent food, excellent service! I got the pork ossobouco and it fell off the bone. The apple butter added the perfect sweetness. The seafood mac and cheese was so good! The drinks were wonderful! I requested a French 75 and they made it special and it tasted perfect and matched my school colors for a football game! Last Friday night we went to Dry 85 for dinner, arriving early as it was a holiday weekend. Nice crowd, but by no means packed or anybody waiting for a table. We requested a booth as my husband had knee replacement, the hostess told us we do not sit parties of 2 in a booth on Friday evenings and proceeds to walk us to the back of the restaurant to a small table where it was very noisy. Needless to say we were not happy. After deciding to have a drink and an appetizer, foregoing dinner at this point. On the way out, most of the booths were seated with 2 people. Bottom line, I'll take my $125 elsewhere to spend for dinner-NEVER again will we set foot in any of his restaurants. read more

I had a Vieux Carré which was really tasty. I like the fact they have whiskey flights and the food menu looks delicious. Hubster and I decided to visit Annapolis for the first time and really enjoyed our day, ending up with late afternoon drinking segueing into an early dinner. I have been mad into cocktails lately so once I saw this place on Yelp I decided it was the place (plus while on the street I said "Dry 85 looks kinda good" and a passerby by said "it is, definitely go there. " My husband ordered a Devils Backbone Vienna Lager and I had a Sazerac, because I always wanted to try one. It was really good. We split an order of fried pickles with siriracha mayo. The light batter was delish. They were sliced lengthwise, the thickness of a pickle ship. The batter clung nicely to this type of slice than it does when they are cut as spears. My guy had the Dry 85 Burger which is a burger topped with Carolina BBQ, coleslaw and bacon. Not typically a coleslaw fan he liked it on this burger. The side was house fried potato chips. I had the fried oyster po' boy sliders with house potato chips. The chips were very well done and nicely salted, the oysters were very tender. I had a second cocktail, an Old Fashioned, with my dinner. Also very good, although the enormous ball of ice took up quite a lot of the liquor room. Our server, Nicholas, was super nice and helpful. We really enjoyed ourselves and will most definitely be back, hopefully with some friends. read more

If you'd like to get more familiar with whiskey, you'd probably like this place. If you'd like to be racially discriminated against, you'd absolutely LOVE this place. Let me start with the good, so I can get right into what matters. 1. YUMMY brussel sprouts, which are modified to reflect their signature stylings, either daily or weekly (I don't remember). 2. Truffle fries. Nuff said. 3. Lemon vinaigrette dressing. I've legit dreamed if drinking it. Okay. That's over. That's done. I came one evening after work. I must've only been thinking of those truffle fries because that's all I remember from that entire day LOL I came in and I noticed that the place was being managed by a team of all men. I was expecting to see Megan (*Meghan--Sorry if I misspelled your name, girl), who was the server I usually had when I came. Awesome service and energy! There was a little bit of a crowd inside waiting for a happy hour event to begin. I was down to hang around for that. Why not?! Many of the tables had patrons in it already. A couple saw me looking around for seating and told me they'd be done soon. They offered their booth to me. Great! When I sat down, I was asked by one of the Dry 85 team members to get up since they had a couple "waiting" to be seated. Now, there's no host/hostess station here, and there are no reservations. In my experience, it's pretty first come, first serve--When there are many people inside and no reservations system. The "couple" waiting? Two people sitting at the bar, who'd likely been there before I came in. Guess what? They didn't move because they never wanted to sit in the booth I was in. Guess what, AGAIN? A *family* walked in and they were almost carried from the bar to the booth I wanted to sit in. They stumbled in. There was no reservation for this walk-in group. They were sat in the booth I was previously sitting in. Management didn't want me in the booth. Why? Why would they single me out? Man, I promise I asked myself the same thing, but I already knew it was prejudice-oriented. So, fine! I got up and started to look for a seat again. *another couple* saw and offered their seat. I immediately sat down. I saw the servers (or bartenders who regularly went behind the bar? IDK they were all over the place) walking past each table where guests were sitting and *serving* them. Y'know, 'cause people who dine at tables get served. Oh, especially if you're not Black. I figured they'd make their way to my table when they had a chance. They didn't. Maybe 12 minutes had gone by. No menu was placed in front of me, no water was brought to me--Hell! No server greeted or acknowledged me. This place is small and their aren't many tables. After watching that, left my belongings in the booth and walked over to the bar to ask for help/service, I was given water and menu. I went to sit back down. Maybe 15 minutes go by this time. My sugar level was low (I'm diabetic), I work a stressful job, and I just wanted to eat before I for sick. I go back over to the bar and the acting Manager had a smug look on his face as if *I* was inconveniencing him because I wanted service? Imagine that in a damn restaurant. The audacity! LOL Shameful! I attempt to place my order and he tells me that I can order, but I'd have to pick my food up from the bar. It *would not* be served to me. I asked why and he answered ["The people here for the Happy Hour didn't rent the entire place out. You have to stand and let paying customers sit."] What an idiotic response, because if I'm ordering food, which we already established is not covered by the Happy Hour group, that means that I'd be *paying* for my tab, right? Having open food on a bar, while patrons and employees are reaching over, talking, sneezing, and/or coughing is unsanitary. He already said that I wouldn't be served, so how would I know when my food arrived to ensure that those things weren't happening over my food and drinks? That is not customary in *ANY* restaurant. Even sitting at bars, your food is *served* to you. I was floored. That was an arbitrary rule. Wrapping up, I left. I went to the establishment next door (also owned by the same people) to leave a message with ownership. I wrote my name, contact, the office I worked for (That's a normal thing in Annapolis), and a brief explanation of what happened. Ownership never reached out. A manager never reached out. Weeks later, I learned that the owners said that they didn't have to respond because they're friends with and regularly donate to my former boss. Classy, right? Annapolis is known to be prejudice and often times, straight up racist. If you're Black, please consider other establishments in Annapolis. Both, Dry 85 and Red, Red Wine are owned by the same people. The management is the same and there's a high chance your unsavory experience will be ignored. read more

We had a great dinner here last weekend! We sat at the bar and were well taken care of with regular water refills and great food guidance. We tried the tater tot appetizer and basically inhaled them - we seriously thought about getting another for dessert, but we were too full after our entrees. Speaking of, burger for the hubs and swordfish special for me - they were totally different meals, but were both excellent - well seasoned, generous portions, timed well after the appetizer. Why oh why have we not eaten here before???!!!! Had a long overdue datenight/weekend and picked here for brunch before going to the Ravens game. Sweet Fancy Moses. First, major kudos to Ashley for being a fan-frigging-tastic server. Best in Annapolis. She was friendly and funny. We got there right when it opened at 10. Watched the bartender fresh squeezing oranges for mimosas. That's what you want to see. Deciding what to get was so hard! And then Ashley mentioned the special. Country fried chicken on a homemade biscuit with sausage and mushroom gravy with potato hash. The hubs got that and there wasn't a speck of anything left of his plate. I managed to snag a tiny piece of the biscuit. Holy cow, was that good! I had the "Toast Topper". Texas toast topped with walnuts, honey, goat cheese and bacon. It was the perfect combo of sweet and salty. I needed another piece and a half or so. I also completely cleaned my plate. Seriously one of the best brunches I've ever had in my life. MY WHOLE LIFE. We then splurged because....because and got the chocolate covered bacon. Because...CHOCOLATE COVERED BACON...rolled in Heath Bar Crunch. I've been to Dry 85 in Annapolis many times and will never go back. Today's experience was horrendous. I don't know what the law is about cigar smoking right near the entrance to a restaurant, but two of us in our party were nauseated by the smoke coming into the restaurant. We both informed the man his smoke was bothering us. Only after the second time we talked to him did he move. Billy, the supposed manager came by our table and pretty much told us they encourage cigar smoking because they are a whiskey bar. There is no information about cigar smoking on their website. After rudely telling us this, he turned and abruptly walked away with no apology. The rest of the staff there had sub par customer service skills as well. Horrible experience. We got up and left after one round of drinks and an appetizer. C'mon people, get your act together. read more

I went here for the bourbon and was happy I did. They have such an exhaustive list of bourbons to choose from. I started with doing their customer made bourbon blends. I had gone to Markers Mark distillery and heard about these customer barrels for restaurants so I am glad I got to try the flight. I enjoyed each of the items. Afterwards I had the Kentucky Fields of Lavender. I don't like too sweet, so they made it more tame and it was the right balance for me. This was one of a handful of stops last summer for my sister's bachelorette. We came here after dinner at a restaurant down the road because M is a huge cocktail fan and was impressed with their drink menu. The space has a classic cocktail bar vibe, with dim lighting and lots of dark wood. It's relatively small with a large bar, a few hightop tables, and booths along the walls. There's a large table in the back behind a curtain that you can reserve in advance for large groups (wish I'd known that). It was pretty packed, but it was prime time on a Saturday night so that's not surprising. We had a group of 14 women so it was a little difficult to find space for us all at first. We did two rounds of cocktails though, so by the second the crowd had thinned out a bit and we were able to slide into one of the huge booths by the window. Cocktails were interesting, seasonal, and tasty, and they have a huge menu of spirits if you prefer your liquor straight. We did not order any food, but what I saw of other people's meals looked pretty tasty. The one downside for me was our server (I don't remember her name). First of all, just the fact that we had one was frustrating. After 9 or 10 pm I think bars should just switch over to ordering drinks from the bartender instead of having a waiter. She didn't come by our table that often, but we weren't supposed to order drinks at the bar so we were waiting on her a lot. It also took a couple asks to get glasses of water for everyone, and of course, there's no way we'd ask someone to split a bill between 14 people. One person at our table got the special which was a blackened burger with blue cheese bacon and blueberry BBQ chutney. Both were incredibly delicious. Our server cracked us up all night!
