Surf & Turf - 8 oz sirloin and blackened catfish
Dave M.

We returned after a bad experience two years ago since we heard they were under new ownership. Much improved. Service was much, much better. Our server was quick, responsive, and accurate. I ordered the Surf & Turf with the sirloin and blackened catfish. The sirloin was definitely not USDA Prime, and although it was cooked to my specifications it was a bit tough. The catfish was nothing special. I will say the salad was very good, crisp and fresh, and quite substantial. Almost a main course itself. The grilled vegetables were cooked perfectly and very tasty. And the coleslaw was one of the best I've had in a long time. Not quite as good as Bill's Grill, but...still good. Looking around at what others ordered the prime rib looked great and I would probably try that next time. The steak salad also looked good. The ambiance hasn't changed, of course. Still kind of loud, but the rough cowboy look is fun and interesting. There was live music in the main dining room which would have made it impossible to talk without yelling, but in the back where we sat it wasn't too bad.

Garlic cheese curds with ranch. Very good.

Food was great, had no complaints of service. Waitress was very nice and made sure we were enjoying our meals multiple times. Food came out within a very reasonable amount of time, food was hot, everything in the order was correct. Restaurant was not very busy. Live band was playing when we had arrived but left after our first 10 minutes of sitting down. (We enjoyed it but we came for the food). The ambiance was very nice and felt like a perfect "hole in the wall".

Very good place to eat we travel all over the country and these places like this that are still around. This is where I like to eat. Nice steak cooked right he had seasoned butter on top. The beans were really good and we got a bowl of the beef, barley soup and it was a real bowl a full bowl not a little tiny bowl that people try to pass off for $10 old school food. Definitely come check this out over any other steakhouse in Prescott.

Mmm...mountain of mud pie!

Food is HUGE and delicious. Wait staff was friendly and efficient. We took a toddler who insisted on ice cream- ice cream as big as she is! The band was good. We will be back!

Fun, old school, classic steakhouse. Had to wait 45 minutes for a table. Food is good. Delicious steaks. Steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Love the ambience and atmosphere. Cool spot. I'd come back.

Even after the second attempt, it still wasn't right. For a restaurant known for its steaks, that's unacceptable. To make matters worse, the entire place had a strong mothball-like smell that was impossible to ignore and lingered with us even after we left. As we were walking out, another patron commented that the food was "barely palatable," which pretty much summed up our experience as well. The service tried to address the issue, but the poor food quality and unpleasant atmosphere overshadowed everything else. Sadly, we won't be returning.

They have a small parking lot along with plenty of street parking if that is full. The restaurant has a covered outdoor patio for dining along with a full bar room separate from the inside seating areas. I ordered the bourbon glazed pecan salmon entree for $34. The meal came with a choice of two side dishes. I went with a side salad and the baked potato. Kat, my waitress, asked if I wanted it loaded with sour cream, butter, bacon, cheese and chives. I asked her if there was an extra charge for those toppings and she said no and that it came that way if I desired it. I accepted it except for the chives. First to arrive was the side salad and it was delicious. It was a quality start to the meal. Then the entree appeared and it was a beautiful plate. The salmon was pan seared with a bourbon glaze on top with candied pecans. It also had several raviolis next to the salmon with spinach and some creole mustard sauce. Flavor, flavor, flavor! That glaze and pecans mixed so well with the salmon and raviolis. Mouth watering for sure. The baked potato had two large scoops of butter and sour cream on top with cheese and was oh so good tasting. It was a quality meal for sure. 5 stars! As I was eating the potato I noticed there was no bacon pieces in it. Figuring that someone forgot to add it, I looked for my waitress and she was no where to be found. Her service was very slow. By the time she arrived I had finished the meal. I mentioned to her that the bacon was missing but it was too late since I had finished the meal. Minus 1 star. When she presented the bill at my table I paid the bill with full tip and took the receipt and left. Just outside the door I noticed on the receipt that I had been charged .75 cents each for the bacon and cheese! Minus another star. So I went back in and talked to the lady manager. She said that my waitress wasn't aware of those topping charges and it was her fault. I told her that I understood that those things can happen but had a problem with being charged for the bacon and never receiving it. She said that she would refund me the cost for the bacon and cheese and would adjust my credit card for the $1.50. I saw her do it on their portable credit card machine. She assured me that it would be done. That was last Thursday and this is Tuesday and no credit has shown in my statement. Minus another star. Very good food, very poor staff and management.

Colt Grill is located on Whiskey Row and caddy corner from the Courthouse. It is easy to find and street parking is plentiful. Colt Grill has both indoor and outdoor uncovered seating which is so popular with the weather here. Inside it's a counter service restaurant with a bar that serves BBQ. I ordered the 1/2 smoked chicken platter that comes with slaw and cornbread for $17.50. I added the "meal deal" of 2 sides for $6 more and chose the sweet beans and Texas Toast because I wanted to try those side dishes in addition with what came with the meal. The meal was ready in less than 15 minutes. I immediately realized that I ordered too much food. Along with the 1/2 bird, the slaw and jalapeño cheese cornbread were full size sides. The beans and toast were too but then I did get to try them all so I wasn't complaining. The chicken looked perfect and was juicy and flavorful with a hint of smoke and a lot of taste. The cole slaw was cool and creamy and the big slice of cornbread moist and delicious. The beans had content in them with brisket and onions and looked great but were unfortunately dry. I would have been content to not order the two extra sides and save the $6. All in all the food was good tasting and affordable. I would have given a 4 score except for these negatives: First the dry beans. Second was for the flies buzzing around inside. Third was that they were out of some utensils and I had to use a child's fork to eat with. Evidently the dishwasher wasn't keeping up. Finally they have a sauce bar here with about 8 bbq sauces with descriptions to use which is neat. However, the 2 sauces that I wanted were out at the time. 3 of the 4 negatives were management related issues and may have not been the norm here however that is what I experienced. Colt Grill is a popular restaurant in Prescott that needs a little better organization. However, I would return on a future visit here.

I ordered the Philly with garlic butter fries (because why wouldn't I), and my girl got the smoked turkey club it, did come with a full bottle of mayo in it so maybe ask for light mayo if you order that , but the mac & cheese could bring a grown man to tears. 3/4 slapped harder than expected Now, I did make a rookie mistake at the bar. I Ordered a regular 805 like a chump... $6 for 16oz. Then I see this glorious 22oz mug you can buy for $14--first fill is FREE, and refills are only $7 forever after as long as you bring your mug. You mean I could've had a beer and a souvenir? Say less. I'm now emotionally attached to this mug. The patio is the move--plenty of space, good vibes, and dogs welcome. I'll be back, and next time I'm bringing friends, family, and probably some strangers too.

We were even here for Christmas Eve and they did a pretty good job of getting us in and fed in a timely manner. Not so today! Our reservation was at 12:30. They said the kitchen was backed up and we needed to wait. OK so we waited. At.1:15 we finally got seated. And that was in the overflow room, not the main dining room, which is fine. But apparently the person serving us not only was serving our room, but upstairs and outside as well. I had ordered a mimosa which is fine, but I asked for either prickly pear or cranberry juice. The waiter asked if orange juice was OK if they didn't have any other juice and I said yes. So I got orange juice which was fine until I thought about it. They have a Cosmo on a menu so of course they would've had cranberry juice. Within placed our order and he told us it would be about 20 minutes because the kitchen was still backed up. 20 minutes came and went. An hour later we still hadn't gotten our food. My brother and sister-in-law who had just moved to town we're done and ended up leaving before even getting our food. We finally got ours and it was good, but my son ended up having to leave early so he could let the dog out. She had been inside for over four hours and she's 15. They did end up taking off their orders. So that was good, but then the manager asked if we wanted to try their raspberry chocolate mousse. I said maybe to take home but that we needed to leave. So she brought out one. I knew there were three of us. And we had been waiting for over two hours for our food. Really? They couldn't have given us three? I almost said something, but I was just so done and so upset. Now I have to apologize to my in-laws! Would it have really killed them to give us three of those? Or a lemon cake along with it? Which I do dream of. It's fantastic! I don't remember our server's name, but it wasn't his fault. He tried to keep us informed on everything. It's basically the management, which needs a complete overhaul, they need more staff, or they need to train their staff better, or all of the above. I will not be going back there for holidays at all. And I probably won't be going back there for dinner or anything else in the near future. There are other restaurants in town.
