On Wednesday, April 8th, my wife and I were traveling to through AZ down to Scottsdale and we decided to stop for lunch here at Murphy's Restaurant! We ordered the Prime Rib, Ribeye, and Calamari. Everything was absolutely spot on! Our server was Paul Benson who has amazing customer service entrepreneurship skills, and was extremely attentive for everything that we needed. Paul Benson made sure that we enjoyed our experience along with great tasting food prepared by the chefs! Unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing dining experiences we've had. I ordered the prime rib and had to send it back twice because it was not cooked as requested. Even after the second attempt, it still wasn't right. For a restaurant known for its steaks, that's unacceptable. To make matters worse, the entire place had a strong mothball-like smell that was impossible to ignore and lingered with us even after we left. As we were walking out, another patron commented that the food was "barely palatable," which pretty much summed up our experience as well. The service tried to address the issue, but the poor food quality and unpleasant atmosphere overshadowed everything else. Sadly, we won't be returning. read more

Let me begin by saying that Murphy's has been a Prescott landmark restaurant as long as I can remember, since long before I moved here in 1987. It's no longer owned by the Murphy family who started it, which is probably when things changed for this place. Next consider that it is at this time the only Irish restaurant in town. They've been hitting me with ads on Facebook for weeks leading up to St. Patrick's Day. I went online and easily made a reservation the day before- yay! I expected them to be booked, but they weren't. We started off ordering Guinness. They were out of Guinness on tap at 7:00. Mmm ok, we order it in a bottle. Waitress comes back and lets us know that is no longer available either, but they have green Stella. Weird, not Irish, but ok..... waitress returns and says be patient they are tapping a new keg. Then a full 30 minutes after we were seated the bar tender comes over to let us know they are out of that too. Mind you, the place does not look busy and it's early in the evening. She comped one of our drinks and we moved on to ordering dinner. I order bangers and mash - they are out of it! What??? At this point my husband is giving up on anything Irish and just gets a steak à la oscar. I had shepherds pie. Both of our dinners were delicious. I can't complain about the food we got. Husband likes his steak medium rare and they nailed it. Crab tasted fresh, bernaise was delicious and asparagus was tender. The shepherds pie had huge chunks of lamb and beef. Very tasty gravy. Serving sizes were good. Our waitress was very sweet and professional. It's not her fault she had to be apologizing through most of our experience. The fact that this restaurant was unprepared for a mildly busy St. Patrick's Day would seemingly be the fault of management. When you're the only Irish place in town and you advertise heavily on social media... make sure you have enough of the specials to not run out hours before closing time. I feel like Murphy's days of being the classy place to go in Prescott are long gone. The era has ended for this once great establishment. read more

So delicious. Great selection of quality protein choices. Service is very polite not over the top, but just what you need for a nice sit down with the honey, family or friends. My opinion of course. But this is coming from a seasoned server since my teenage years. I love the feel of walking in to Old Town Historic Prescott and the renovation is on point with the Bar, upstairs and dining area. Fantastic! We had a bridal party of 22+ people. The service was excellent. Katie was our server and she crushed it. Every person was taken care of! Food was good! I can see why some people would say the food is okay. I think it was a great place that you know everyone can get something and like it. They also gave the bride and groom crème brûlée to polish off the evening. The ambience of the place is very homey. It's spread out with tall ceilings so it wasn't loud at all. When I stopped into Murphy's about a week ago for lunch, I ordered the Chipotle Honey Glazed Salmon from the seasonal menu with no special instructions. This dish was excellent in my opinion. The salmon was cooked the way I like. The cilantro-lime seasoning on the rice added just enough flavor without being overwhelming, and the mango-avocado salsa added another dimension to the cup of black beans. All in all, a tasty selection. The service was great and the ambient noise level around the noon hour was low. I enjoyed my lunch at Murphy's. read more

I use to love this restaurant but in the last few years they've changed so much and not for the better either. The presentation was horrible and the food was overly cooked. Btw it was steak and I wanted to impress my beloved sis and it was so tuff, yes I tried a piece and it was. This was not what I wanted for my sis. She wanted a good experience considering I ranted about the place.,. Furthermore, it has become more like California atmosphere horrible. I use to come here for years but the last 5 years?? Although the location, food, happy hour (particularly the $8 hamburger), service, and general atmosphere is fairly good, it's all undermined with a music playlist dominated by uptempo and often hard driving contemporary "pop" country music. Table conversation is challenged by a cacophony of electric guitar riffs and tone deaf vocals assaulting one's auditory canal, so perhaps it's an ingenious effort to turn over tables more frequently by discouraging a pleasant and casual dining experience. Sad. Murphy's used to be a great, historical restaurant with a measure of class. I really want them to succeed, but music sets the mood, and so far, the mood is, "Disappointed". read more

He liked it but, the chicken had one large (too big) side that was hard to eat and made it messy when eating. My daughter had the Clams Fra Diavolo and loved it! And mine was Pan Seared Grouper with Risotto. It was very dry super thick. The big disappointment was the carrot cake, which looked to be a staple/. It was so dry and lacked any moistness that I only ate a few bites. Forgot to take a picture, as I had it togo. Looked great, but maybe it was just too old? We had a reservation at Murphy's and were seated right away, even after arriving about 10 minutes early -- a great start. The service was excellent; our server, Katie, was friendly, attentive, and very accommodating throughout the meal. The food, while nicely presented, was a bit underwhelming in flavor. The French Onion soup looked beautiful but the broth lacked depth, and the Prime Rib Stroganoff, though generously portioned and tender, could have used more seasoning. Others in our party also noted their dishes needed salt. Overall, solid service and presentation, but the food could use a little more flavor to match the otherwise pleasant dining experience. Our whole family loves eating at Murphy's! The historic décor creates a charming atmosphere, and it's usually nice and quiet. The servers are always attentive and provide great service. We prefer sitting in the booths away from the bar for a more private experience. Our go-to appetizers are the escargot and calamari, and the kids especially enjoy the bread. Just a tip--it isn't brought out automatically, so be sure to ask for it. Everything we have tried has been good! They have great seasonal menu items as well! read more

Another Awesome dining experience at Murphy's Our server, Faith, was excellent. Friendly, prompt and knowledgeable about the full menu. She recommended the brown sugar, bourbon martini, and it was outstanding as an after dinner drink. She also recommended Forever Blue. This was very refreshing and perfect for dinner. The drinks presented beautifully. The prime rib is honestly as good as I have ever had. The Au Jus and horseradish were also perfect. We also loved how cold the house salad was, and their bread is top notch. I should ad that we really stopped eating out as things have gotten expensive. It's been two years since we've dined at Murphy's and it was a very regrettable dinner tonight. Sat promptly and waters served right away. Still looks fancy. Clean. The dining room was basically empty at 7:30 pm Ordered their crab cakes as an appetizer and that was decent, the dipping sauce was particularly good. My mother ordered a salad as her side, which came with the appetizer. It looked fine. Then, we waited. And waited. And waited. My son ordered a kids burger without cheese and was served a flat patty with cheese that looked like it was cooked yesterday. He had to request lettuce, tomato, onion, which I thought was odd. His bowl of French onion soup was abysmal and he used it to dip his tasteless burger. French onion soup is a difficult one with which to excel, I know. Still, this was a weak broth with very little flavor, a pile of overcooked onions, and a nasty layer of burned parmesan--and it was COLD. I've had better French onion soup at tiny diners across the country. Did not finish. My daughter ordered the mac and cheese bites, which she did not touch and I did not expect her to eat because she doesn't eat trash. They were hard, old, chunks of deep-fried who-even-knows-what. I cut one and saw maybe remnants of cheese. The entire presentation was a joke and an insult. I guess the kitchen just considers all our kids rats that will eat anything and so her dinner consisted of my green bean side and my mother's rice pilaf side. I ordered a 14 oz ribeye medium rare and was served a very well done steak that tasted awful and was also cold. It came with a mysterious lemon sauce that seemed to have thickened excessively while sitting out. I'd never cover my ribeye with anything, but I tried it on the mashed potatoes and was not a fan. I ate the steak and I didn't complain, because I have a thing against wasting food, but it was disgusting. Seemed like it was cooked yesterday, like the burger patty. My mother ordered a filet and she said that it was cooked correctly and she found it flavorful. She also liked the mystery sauce. So, you win some, you lose some. We debated bothering with desert, but we're kinda crème brûlée connoisseurs and so we figured, "at this point, what the hell!" We were served a small bowl (red flag) of vanilla pudding with a sugar layer that seemed like it came that way from a box and not at all freshly caramelized, garnished with whip cream on the plate (another red flag because it appears cheap). Rich custard? It was absolutely vanilla pudding. We let my son eat it because he doesn't like crème brûlée, but he loves the chance to eat pudding. Service was fine. None of this is the fault of wait staff. This is a kitchen that doesn't know or doesn't care to know how to kitchen. Will not eat at Murphy's again unless I hear that it is under new management, with an entirely new kitchen staff. read more

Sat at the bar for an affordable happy hour that was delightfully pleasant. I was wowed by the enormous $8 juicy cheeseburger cooked perfectly to my satisfaction and a delicious $5 well margharita. Went twice to this restaurant in the last week and a half with different friends. Both times the food was amazing! I had a catfish dinner that was great. My husband had a chicken dinner and it had a honey mustard type sauce that was fabulous! We went again last night and decided to go in time for the happy hour (3-6) in the bar area. They have a really great appetizer, happy hour menu and specials on drinks. We had hot wings and the calamari were fantastic! The guys ended up having dinner as well with chicken again for my husband and a beef stroganoff that our friend said was fantastic as well! Service was above and beyond and the manager David came around both times to see if we enjoyed our meal and if there was anything he could do. I want to first thank the GM, David, for allowing us a second opportunity at Murphy's, after a very disappointing experience 3 months ago. Service was excellent, just like our visit in November 2025, but our problem back then was with the food quality and taste. This latest visit on Jan 3, 2026 was waaaaaay better! I took a chance and ordered the ribs again (super dry and charred last time in November). I wasn't disappointed. Meat was tender and BBQ sauce was flavorful. There was also a cheeseburger and Filet Mignon ordered in our party, which were both cooked perfectly. The one item that we didn't particularly care for was the Crème Brûlée. Many places I have had this at usually have it made in a 1" shallow dish (which is also the way I make it), so you can have a piece of the crunchy sugar crust with each bite. They made theirs in a 3" deep bowl, which was pretty much vanilla custard after the top crust was gone. All-in-all, a much better dining experience which will make us consider returning in the future. read more

The server was just ok, she wasn't busy just acted like she had 20 tables when she only had two and then three. Over priced, food was bland and not served right, we waited 40 minutes for a simple, bland lunch. It is far from a high end restaurant with high prices and below standard food.
