Once again I walk out with flat hair. The stylists are inconsistent and you don't always get who you request. It's like playing russian roulette. This time I ordered the same style as every time before, straight up with lots of body at the roots. My hair comes out flat, mostly due to my stylist constantly touching my hair. She added tons of curls with the iron in an attempt to give it more body which didn't work. She then proceeded to try to add a ton of hairspray for lift. I had previously mentioned I didn't want much product because it weighs it down. She didn't ask what side I part my hair on so correcting that made it look weird. In a last ditch effort she offered to tease my hair.... I declined. She did offer to have another stylist fix it but by this time the hour was up and I had a party to get to. I had informed her I was on a tight deadline before. Then customer service hung up on me. Overall there are better places to get a blowout in Atlanta and even if it may be a touch pricier at least they are consistent and stay put. I ended up running a brush throughout all of my hair and it was in a ponytail by the end of the night. read more

Eight girls and I went before my sister's wedding rehearsal dinner, hoping for a pleasant fun experience of all getting our hair styled together. The greeter was extremely rude and unfriendly to me when we checked in and wouldn't help answer questions as it was our first time there. I was immediately shocked that a salon would allow greeters to be so rude, after all this is the customers first impression. I was so turned off, I canceled my appointment. Nonetheless, the other girls wanted to try the service and we were all there, so they proceeded to get their hair styled. Each girl walked out with the same hair that they walked in with. Ladies, can you put a hair dryer, a straightener, or a curling iron to your head? If you have this common capability, do not waste $40+ dollars for unpleasant people to hover over head and do the same thing. Furthermore, their credit card machine broke down and while my friend only had $40 on cash on and was forced to pay by cash, the staff called her out in front of the whole salon for not tipping. Wow! I really like this place. I couldn't give it 5 stars because I have to see if this place is consistent in their service, but what a great way to make a first impression. I was greeted immediately and offered a mimosa, wine, coffee or tea. It was packed and I had to wait about 5 minutes, but the young woman who did my hair was really friendly and sweet. I opted on getting the floater as I heard so many great things about it. When I sat in the bowl and she began to wash my hair I made a point to mention I had purchased it and I have a feeling that she didn;t know, so IUThe scalp massage was awesome. I chose the Cosmo for the curly look and she did a great job and in a short period of time. This girl had skills! I tried Drybar again, at their request, and I had a much better experience. I think there's been a change in management because after walking in, I was greeted by a sincere and up-beat person, I was given the various drink options, and within 3 minutes of sitting down, my stylist had introduced herself to me. Hermaen (sp?) asked me about what I wanted, what types of products I use, and then she took me to the back for a shampoo. She is light-hearted, has a great personality, and has been with drybar Atlanta since the beginning. When we got back to the chair, my champagne was waiting for me with a napkin over the top of the glass to keep it clean. I don't think it took more than 35 minutes for my stylist to blow out and style my hair. I can definitely see myself going back when I need a treat or a pick-me-up. I also have to say that I'm impressed by any business that takes their reputation so seriously that they follow-up through email and phone to find out what worked and what could be improved. read more

I usually go to a Dominican Hair Salon and I needed a break because the guy that does my hair hurts my scalp with pulling and burning my scalp with the blow dry. So I had saw something about going to a Blow Bar and researched for one in Atlanta. Saw the reviews on Yelp and saw that they handle many different ethnicities of hair in addition they are all over the place. The Buckhead location is very close to where I live. I went to the website and saw one morning appt and booked it as fast as I could and went right on over. Usually at the place I got, it takes about 4-5 hours to do my hair. The Dry Bar did my hair in a little over an hour and I have very thick, coarse hair. It did not hurt at all and he did not burn me with the blow dryer. I got lots of compliments from my boyfriend. The atmosphere was so relaxing and the shampoo/conditioner used called Happy Hour worked wonderfully on my hair. So I will be back very soon! read more

I really like the the concept of the Dry Bar, however my first experience at the Dry Bar was not a good one. My appointment was at 6pm and I was the very last person to leave the salon. My hair service did not start off well the Stylist tried to blow dry my hair and she was having a tuff time or should I say her blow drying technique was not working for me. She pulled, tugged and used several different brushes and products on my hair and by mid way into the service I couldn't bear anymore. My scalp was becoming sore and my hair was dry and frizzy, it was taking her too long to finish out my hair. After I couldn't take it anymore I let her know. She offered to let someone else do my hair so a gentlemen tried to finish what she started, needless to say my hair didn't turn out right after spending a little over two hours in salon. I was very displeased! The receptionist or manager I am not sure her job titled didn't charge me for the service and she apologized. She also gave me a coupon for a complimentary scalp massage. I will attempt to try Dry Bar again and get a different Stylist. read more

This was the most disappointing experience for a hair salon I've ever had misfortune of having! My sister and I made an appointment a couple days in advance, they were 15 min behind which wasn't that big of a deal. We both had pictures in hand and asked if it was realistic because we only had an hour and a half, one was a double braid in front with curls in back, the other was a faux hawk updo. Both pretty straight forward. 2 hours later, the braid was ready (took three times to get right) and the faux hawk was beyond a disaster. More than 100 pins in my hair, higher volume that Elvis in front with no height in the back at all. We had to run out to get to the wedding we were going to couldn't argue that at $100 a piece with tips was NOT OK. I will never return and certainly never recommend this place. read more

I went with a group for my nieces wedding and the guy that did my hair was wonderful!!! Unfortunately my niece, the bride, didn't have the same experience. She left in tears and finally they got someone else to do her hair. I bought products and they charged me twice for one of the items. They said they refunded me but it never appeared on my card. If you call the number on your receipt for a problem...you get India. You can't even talk to the store. I don't live near Buckhead so really stinks for me that I can't go in and talk to someone I can understand. I'll never go back. read more

I visited the Buckhead Dry Bar location a couple months ago and I've been back about twice. I initially had some reservations because I recently stopped relaxing my hair and had about 3 inches of curly new growth. I've been having braids done but I took them out and didn't have time to get them redone. I had an event to attend and I'm not great at styling my hair so I decided to give Drybar a try since it's so close to work. My appointment was at 5 p.m. and started on time. My stylist Monica, was really nice and gave me some advice on my hair as I'm transitioning from relaxers. I loved the way my hair looked and I got compliments from my coworkers. My hair stayed pretty straight for a couple of days and it could've lasted longer had I not gone to a spin class. The other visits have gone smoothly and were pretty much like my first visit: nice stylists who worked quickly. I'm definitely going to keep visiting this location. read more

I don't know why I had low expectations for dry bar but I did... Maybe because it's a big chain but WOW I was sooo wrong, the service and outcome of my hair were both superb! I came in to get a super simple updo for my sister's wedding. I didn't need the whole wash/blowout deal and my stylist totally accommodated and gave me exactly what I asked for. I added a braid so it was a total of $50 - still way cheaper than going to a boutique salon and I was out in under 45 minutes. Extra stars for complimentary champagne and a free umbrella to keep my 'do stellar all through a rainy day. read more

I would like to give this salon varying scores. This was my first time back in a very long while... It took some time to recover from my previous horrible experience. Let's first talk about my actual blowout since that's what you go for. My appointment was with Celina, we quickly decided to do the signature blowout since I was getting my hair done for photos that would be taken the next morning. She styled my hair a little differently than I would have liked but it was shiny and smooth. I had to ask her to use more product knowing my hair would frizz out. These people always seem afraid to use any product? They now use a private label line for products, the packaging is cute and the smell is nice. I really liked the pomade. My stylist told me the line is not good for textured hair and since my hair is naturally very curly I didn't make any inquiries to purchase. I think what is really irking me about this place is the overall atmosphere and the customer service. Everyone working there looks so bored and miserable, they put you through so quickly you feel like you're in a factory rather than salon. I was offered a beverage when I checked in and asked for water... It never came. When I checked out I asked them to add $8 for gratuity. When I got the email of my receipt (this was the only option, btw) I saw they had added $10. Really unacceptable. Lastly, my appointment started about 10 minutes late. It's fine but if you as a customer run late, I've been told they give away your appointment. Not sure if they will ever get it together. read more

I had a truly wonderful experience at Drybar! I have to admit, I'm extremely picky and very nervous about people I don't know doing my hair, especially when it's being done an hour before an event. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I received the best hair of my life! Everyone on the staff is extremely nice. The girl at the counter smiled and was welcoming and warm and the guy who did my blow out really paid attention to what I wanted. I have very, very long hair that is finnicky and he tamed it well! This place is wonderful. Yes, it is a silly expense and you ask yourself the whole time why you are paying someone to dry your hair, but its a lot of fun and a great treat to relax. My hair always falls within a few hours, but thats expected. If you're getting it done for a special occasion just go as late as possible/before your event so it lasts and maybe hit it with your own hair spray because the stuff they use doesn't have the greatest hold. This is review is strictly for their appointment and booking system. I'm sure they do great at blowouts and hair, but I can't seem to get in the door. I called the number listed here, and it seems to go to some sort of call center nowhere near buckhead. The girl sounded super broken up and asked what she could do for me. I asked if I could possibly get two appointments on a Sunday afternoon. She asked what location I was looking for and I was confused because I called the West Paces Ferry Number I saw on Yelp. I tried to explain that to her I dont' think the girl was listening to me at all because the next thing she said was "oh are you in New York?" I'm like, no... ATLANTA, GEORGIA. She then apologized and then she asked "oh how does Boston location sound" I got so frustrated I wanted to hang up the phone and try again. But I stuck with it, we figured I was in GEORGIA finally and then she booked my appointment. ..... Then 10 min later she calls back saying she cancelled the appointment because she double booked it.... So maybe once I get int the door I'll change my review, but for now There should be a better system for handling appointments. UPDATE: from 2 stars to 3 stars. Customer service called me to try to remedy the process and apologize for whoever took my call that day. They offered to keep my appointment, but I didn't go because I had to have 2 side by side that day. I'll try again in the future and give them another chance if they give me one too. read more

This was my first time at a Dry Bar despite being from LA where this gem of a business originated. Flawless execution from checkin to service. I now know why it's such a popular place besides the great price. They must interview all of their stylists blow out skills on all textures of hair because everyone's hair was on point at completion. As if the flawless hair (mine is thick and tightly textured) beverage offer and in store music and tv entertainment options weren't enough, upon my checkout it had started to sprinkle and the territory manager (who is a doll) offered me a branded umbrella with a choice of yellow or grey. This is such a great idea. I had read about this salon in national magazines and I am so glad a location opened in Atlanta. The concept is simple. Just blowouts for $35.00. You can upgrade the blowout with scalp massage or an updo. Also the salon is centered around a "bar" at the center of the room. Keeping with this theme, they have different types of styles that are named after beverages. And most importantly they offer you grown up beverages upon arrival (wine and champagne). I tried Drybar courtesy of groupon, which is the best way to try out a new place. The hours for this place are great. They have weekend and evening hours which is convenient for 9-5 people like myself. I went on Sunday evening with the intent to keep my blowout going for the beginning of the week. I got the scalp massage and blowout. It was very relaxing, my hair felt squeaky clean and my hair smelled awesome. For some reason it always feels better when someone else washes my hair. Brittany B. did my blowout. She did a great job. I loved the results. I have very thick, long hair and she was able to give it some curl. The only complaint I have was that she pulled on my hair a little bit too much when winding my hair around the round brush. Like I said, my hair is long and thick, so I know it is a lot to handle. The results were long lasting - my blowout lasted for three days! According to Brittany B., they are going to be opening more locations in Atlanta. I am really looking forward to a midtown or Decatur location. Buckhead is a traffic nightmare, so I selfishly want something closer to home. Without a groupon this is more of a luxury, but I would totally recommend it for a special occasion. She greeted me at the door with a smile and offered me a complimentary beverage of my choice. She has a great attitude and you can tell she loves where she works. Lace was my stylist. She was very professional, quick, attentive and thorough with my hair. I am usually skeptical but I loved my results. I went to try Drybar a few days ago to see what the fuss is about. My stylist charges the same for her styles/blowdries. The space is adorable. It's like a big vanity for 10 people. I didn't have to wait for my appointment but it did take 10 mins longer than the appointment suggested it would. My hair is easy and the stylist didn't seem to be moving slow. *shrug* The chairs are not comfortable either in the shampoo room or the styling chairs. I am 5'11 so that could be the issue or maybe people of average height can weigh in on this? If you're an iphone person there is a charging station at each styling station. Champagne is there for the taking too. The stylist consulted with me and explained my options , taking time to clearly explain what I would be able to expect. After my wash the styling begun. Within 45 minutes I had big bouncy lingerie model hair just like the photo! I felt beautiful. You won't get the personal service you're used to at your regular salon (I've left two hairdressers for lack of personal attention) as this is assembly line blowout/styling. Keep your expectations in check and you'll likely enjoy it. My style went flat within 3 hours due to the weather but I'd expect that style to last 4 days if weather permitted. I don't know if I will return. I like knowing it's there but won't go out of my way unless my stylist is unavailable and I don't feel like doing my hair myself (what a chore that is some days!) read more

I used to live in Buckhead and visited DryBar often. I'm a huge DB fan, but I only get to visit now when I'm in town. I made an appointment for a recent trip to Atlanta, and it just wasn't the DB I remembered. The shopping center where DryBar is located is now completely empty other than DryBar. Honestly when I pulled up I wondered if DB had moved too. This obviously isn't DB's fault - just something I noticed. When I checked in, they actually took me early. My stylist wasn't overly friendly and I honestly never even got her name. She didn't talk much, but warmed up over the course of my appointment. She had really long, pointy nails, which weren't very comfortable during the wash. I didn't love the way she did my hair - she used a flat iron to make waves, but my hair isn't long so I didn't like that the wave didn't start until halfway down my hair. I asked her to try and fix it and she was nice and did her best to correct it. (I had never had flat iron waves, so now I know I don't like them.) I love DryBar products and use them at home. Normally I enjoy visiting DryBar and trying new products, but my stylist didn't really tell me what she was using on me and why. Just kind of did her thing. She tried to sell me on some products at the end, but I declined. The thing I was most disappointed in, since it's preventable, was how dirty the salon was. The old iPhone chargers don't work for the newer models so they are just kind of there and useless. However the one at my station was full of hair and dust and horribly disgusting. It's right in front of you so it's very noticeable. The tools seemed old and showed rust on some of them and a lot of product buildup. It just left a bad taste in my mouth. Overall I was just disappointed. I've historically been a huge fan of DryBar and have visited many locations. This appointment left me feeling very "meh" which isn't what you want. I think satisfaction with my hair always depends on the stylist, and this stylist and I just didn't hit it off. That wouldn't keep me from coming back since I can always request someone else, but I do think they need to reassess the customer service and cleanliness -- it all needs a boost in my opinion. read more

AMAZING. They mentioned a midtown location opening up this year, and I cannot wait. I have naturally curly hair, which in not easy to blow and iron out, so I was a bit concerned. But 5 minutes into my discussion with Val I felt like my hair was in good hands. She did a wonderful job...at no point did it feel like she was trying to pull my hair out of my scalp during the blowdry, and after she flat ironed it I felt magazine cover-ready. It even survived a couple of days of Miami humidity, which is a huge feat with my hair. Had my hair "blown out" after reading reviews. It's assembly line style, so if you don't know who to go to....you're taking your chances. I wanted the Cosmopolitan, as was advertised in their brochure. The stylist who did my hair was obviously not comfortable with my hair and she just basically blow dryed my hair straight, something I could have done. She also was obese, with a bad body odor. Most of their stylists wear weaves, and so may not be comfortable with real hair. It was disappointing to say the least, I will not be back. I'll stick to my regular stylist. read more

I visited Drybar last week after reading about the concept online. The receptionists are friendly, very professional and made me feel right at home. I paid for a blow dry + the floater (10 minute scalp massage) but my stylist skipped the floater all together. I decided to wait and see how she did with my hair & she did a pretty good job however she did pull really hard on my hair while blow drying. I still tipped her very well but I did not feel like a got what I paid for. Overall, I will probably try Drybar again but ask for a different stylist. read more

Just finished getting the most fabulous blowout and curls. I'll be honest - I didn't expect this level of service I received - afterall, you're only paying $40 for a wash, blowout and style. So I walked in expecting the bare minimum. Boy was I wrong!!!! My stylist Britnee (who I recommend) did a great job with my long 3B hair. She blew it out with a round barrel brush, curled it with a flatiron ( pin-curling it as she worked), spayed with hair spray, unpinned and voila! A head full of bouncy, beautiful curls that are holding up well on this humid, day. :-) The salon itself is very clean, relaxed and unpretentious. Everyone was friendly and great to interact with. So I'm leaving an update to say that my blowout lasted a whole 2 weeks! I used Triple-sec as a dry shampoo/refresher, Chaser to smooth and brush out as needed, and I made sure to put my hair up each night. Not only did my hair last through the day-to-day maintenance, but it also lasted through me going into labor with my second child 3 days ago. Can't wait to go for my next style! Went Friday, everyone was very nice and welcoming, the clientele was everyone from Buckhead housewives in their couture sweatpants, teenage girls with their Moms, 20/30 ++ something singletons, and soon to be brides. As the previous yelper wrote - the wash bowls are very comfortable and I'd suggest getting the "floater" as well, great head massage and very relaxing! There's a classic look book and all sorts of styles can be achieved, from a super sleek straight blowout or y'all can channel your inner Dolly Parton and go all BIG and CURLEY. Sooooo much fun to change it up. Fun place and I'll be going weekly. (I'm getting more and more like my Grandmother. I was nervous about making an appointment here, because I was not sure if they technicians would be able to work with sew-in extensions. I scheduled an appointment for a dry styling because I was planning to try on wedding dresses later that day and wanted to look my best. The staff was friendly. I was offered drinks and refreshments as soon as I arrived. I didn't have to wait long before a stylist came over to help me. With very little explanation needed, the stylist began working on my hair. I was pleased with the outcome. My best friend out in LA had tried to get me to visit the Dry Bar out there, but we were unable to get an appointment during the short time I was there. Imagine my delight when I discovered there was a Drybar sitting just 10 minutes from where I live in Atlanta! Ok, so upon walking in, I was scpetical; the front desk staff were pleasant (even though one of them did give me a 'once-over' with the eyes before thinking about breaking into a smile - it happens, but it's rude) I work as a sales manager in the hospitality industry so I am HUGE on customer service... less than smiley welcome aside; my stylist - Destiny, was AMAZING, not only was she fantasticly friendly, she listened to my concerns and did a BRILL job on my hair! I have relaxed hair and I am soooo particular about people drying and/or flat ironing my hair, as im often nervous i'll leave looking like a mushroom - on the contrary - Destiny was the bee's knees! and I cant wait to go back! One suggestion: Have a referral program that rewards people for sending their friends!! why?! Because the VERY next day, I suggested (after many compliments on my hair) that at least 7 of my friends go, not to mention the additional 5 people at work on monday - oh yes! MONDAY! this hair style pretty much held up for 3 days - (I just touched up little bits with my flat iron at home) LOVE it! and just in time for me to wash my hair anyway.... Thanks to Leah V.'s suggestion, I checked out this location and loved the concept & the experience. My stylist was Lauren and she did a great job with the curls. A LOT of hair spray was used but I'm hoping that the look I received today will last for at least one more day. I usually wash my hair every day but I'll make an exception just to see if the blowout can last for one more day. The salon is great. Bright, clean and a very friendly staff. My friend Joanna also got her hair blown out and she looked great with curls as well. She wished her stylist would've have given her more volume in her look but overall, I thought the curls looked great on her shorter "do." I don't know why so many have bad experiences, I've always had great experiences with Dry Bar and this was just another to add to my list! The stylist (forgot her name, but she had blonde hair, colored streaks) asked me questions of what I was looking for, wash/massage was heavenly and ended with an amazing blowout!! When I got off the plane after traveling all day (dirty hair and all!) I made an appointment after I dropped my bags off and could get in exactly when I wanted to. 2. Easy check-in. THIS PLACE IS A LITERAL JOKE. I was on hold for 40 minutes both at the store and their corporate number. Also reached out on multiple channels of social media and email. Tried to cancel in the app as well. Also tried to reschedule in the app. Fairly certain this app was designed by an eight year old. There are bugs and coding errors everywhere. You can't cancel in the app either as advertised and promised. What kind of business doesn't answer the phone? I am appalled. All dry bars are basically the same, so you need to set yourself apart.
