One thing I really appreciated is that they give you a 1-hour timeframe for arrival, which is great compared to other DC companies I've used in the past that gave 3+ hour windows that are a lot tougher to schedule around. First off, we've had a couple of companies clean our vents in the past few years. This crew is the most expensive by far. That said, I don't know if they did more but they spent a lot more time at the house. That makes me wonder if the other crews possibly didn't do enough! Overall the crew was on time. They called to let me know exactly when they would arrive. They were friendly and wore masks. So we had a new dryer installed over 3 years ago. We decided to clean the vent and then realized that the vent wasn't even connected to the wall properly. So we called this company and they were able to come out the same day. The gentleman who came was friendly and professional. Got done in a timely manner. Had to replace a vent cover, and repair a vent line. Price, I mean I've never had this service done so I don't know how to compare it but it wasn't $500 I seen mention. Normally, I don't leave bad reviews as any company can have a "bad day" but, this is the exception. I scheduled an appointment online where I specified, I needed someone to come in with a camera and check my dryer duct outside vent because there was a supposed disconnect. They showed up, I ask the guy about the camera he says he doesn't have one and that they don't even provide that service. He did not do anything to try to circumvent the situation, he decided there was nothing he could do. Once he was ready to leave, he wanted to charge me for the service fee of $39.00. I asked him, how can you charge me for a "service fee" when you are not even able to do the service I booked for? He said he would try to get the manage to waive the fee, which he did not. I called the company, they did confirm I had specified the need for a camera when I booked and said a supervisor would call me back. Turns out the guy calls me back and says: "hey, I'm going to go tomorrow and get on a ladder, take a look at the vent and I'll get you a note for your HOA, that way you won't leave us a bad review" guess what, I'm still leaving a bad review because he didn't do anything until I contacted the company, if I hadn't I'd be $39 short with nothing to show for it. I am incredibly upset at this company and will not recommend them to anyone! read more

This Dryer Vent Wizard branch is great for dryer vent work at condo complexes, at least. They won the bid to do the exterior dryer vent cleaning for our condo complex this year, meaning they must have out-bid the provider who did the work in other years. They also offered us condo residents the opportunity to get interior dryer vent cleaning from them while they were here for the exterior vent cleaning (or, really, get interior vent cleaning any time before, after, or during the several days of exterior vent cleaning at the complex, but they checked to see who wanted interior vent cleaning while they were here for the exterior vent cleaning). I took them up on interior vent cleaning since I hadn't had that done the first few years we've lived in our condo. For the interior vent cleaning, Dryer Vent Wizard first did an inspection of our system. Depending on what an interior vent inspection like this shows is needed, they then do up to 3 types of interior vent cleaning services for condo units: -Lint Tray Cleaning, of the lint tray chute in the dryer itself with a special set of brushes. This gets lint that the tray doesn't catch and that accumulates over time. Cost: $35 -Inspection, and replacement if needed, of vent hooked to the back of the dryer. Gets replaced if broken or made of unsafe, potentially combustible materiel. Cost $45 for replacement (they inspected mine for free, either that or didn't charge for this inspection since they did a lint tray cleaning for me) -Interior Dryer Delinting, which is cleaning the inside of the dryer to remove lint. Cost $55 Branch owner Eric B. came to do my interior vent cleaning along with a trainee. They did the inspection of all 3 interior parts of the system, and decided I only needed the lint tray cleaning. They only charged me $35 in total, the cost of just the lint tray cleaning, for the whole visit. Only took them a minute or two to clean the lint tray, but they did the inspection and drove out to see me, so I think that was a very good price for the service visit as a whole including the inspection. (They actually came on a day the week before they did exterior vent cleaning for the whole condo complex). And they didn't try to sell me a vent replacement and interior dryer delinting which I didn't need. Our clothes have been drying a bit faster since the interior and exterior vent cleanings, and owner Eric just seems like a great, honest guy. read more

UPDATE: Still deserves zero stars. Eric responded to my review on yelp instead of contacting me directly to discuss my lack of satisfaction with the service provided by Dryer Vent Wizard. It says a lot that the business representative would seek to reconcile my complaints about this business publicly on yelp rather than to contact me directly to offer a refund of the diagnostic fee or otherwise address my issues with the service. Also, the service person that they sent to my house simply didn't want to do the work. It wasn't because of a complicated system or the lateness of the hour. Deserves zero stars. I scheduled an appointment two weeks in advance to have someone come out and look at our dryer exhaust vent because it needed to be replaced with a non-flammable material. The representative who showed up refused to complete the work on the same day because it would take too long, and insisted that he come back another day to do the work. He arrived within the 3 hour window but refused to do the work because he could not complete it in less than 4 hours. He called another representative who could perform the work, however, that representative was on another job. Why did the company send someone who either could not or would not complete the work? Terrible service, and he charged $39 for showing up. read more

We booked online, but they contacted us and came earlier than originally scheduled due to a cancellation (great). They replaced a clogged flexible tube with sturdy tubing for our dryer vent (good). Replaced the outside cover to something more "critter proof" as well (nice). Because we have a European model dryer, we had to order the adapter to attach to the vent (no biggie). We were good to go in a few days. However, after a week, it came apart and blew dryer lint all over the place (bad). We've repeatedly tried calling to service, but are still wait (3 weeks now). I paid another company for a dryer vent cleaning when I got my dryer two years ago. They said they cleaned it, and we had to call them back because our dryer still wasn't working. Again, they said they cleaned it however, the dryer was so congested it would literally rain condensation into my walls. I called DVW because I thought I needed a vent repair or a new line. They went into the attic, cleaned the entire line... I was skeptical because there was so much condensation it was literally damaging my walls. Months after the cleaning we have zero issues. I had a similar experience to that described below. I called for a consult and asked the service representative what range I should expect for vent cleaning. I was told someone would call me before the appointment with an estimate. No one called me. The tech showed up and told me he could not clean my collapsable accordion vent and that it was not up to code and had to be replaced. He said it would be $500 and had already disconnected it. When he finished, I was given a bill that included not only this $556 charge, but an additional $100 for the constricted space, $35 for a lint screen, $49 to remove the old vent line and he still charged me the $39 diagnostic inspection! All totaled $841. But that's not the best part after he tested the dryer --it STILL was not delivering enough heat! I called twice to talk to a manager and no one has returned my call. I am now disputing the charge. read more

If your dryer has a typical collapsible metal foil exhaust vent (or metal lined with plastic), Dryer Vent Wizards will not be able to clean it without replacing the line (which is expensive). I have a long run vent, part of which is metal foil, with a middle section I can't reach with my brush. DVW didn't have a solution, other than replacement. Technician was very nice, but they are expensive, with limited service options. read more

I had them install a vent for my new dryer. It was a simple job; running a new vent line through a window panel above the dryer. The technician was professional. The quality of materials was good, and the vent seems to work fine. But I paid $500 for this service, which is too much. A quick search on the internet tells me that I could have hired an experienced handyman or general contractor to do the same job for a lower price. Technician insisted he could only replace the entire vent system after taking apart my entire dryer and said he was unable to clean, but could only replace the vent for an exhorbitant rate. They did a good job cleaning the vent and even replaced the vent opening with a new style trap door to prevent birds from coming back in. There was a small issue with installation. DryerVent Wizard is a SCAM. They were recommended by the business where I bought my Speed Queen dryer. I tried to get an estimate over the phone, but they would not return my call. The scheduler said they would give me an estimate before they showed up for their initial inspection which would cost $39.99, When I finally talked to the tech on the way to the house he told me the range of service would be between $295.00-325.00. I figured the most would be $325.00. He first tried to tell me the connection between the wall and dryer was a fire hazard, which was a standard aluminum flexible tube installed by the company I bought the Speed Queen from. He would replace it with his tube for about $70.00. I declined. Then he Told me the vents would be $418.00 to clean the one vent. At this point I told him this was a scam and the initial price quote on the way to the house was a range of $295.00-$325.00. Bate and switch is an old scam technique. I told him I would not do business with his SCAM company and would give him the $39.00 inspection fee we agreed to, he said he would not take a check, which was the first time he told me about type of payment and wanted a credit card. The work was done by the owner, Eric, who said his technician was out today. He was terrific - he called to let me know he would be a few minutes late (delays happen - but it is great to know about it). After calling the central number, which was a little off putting, Eric from the local franchise followed up promptly with an estimate for the work and even helped me diagnose whether the problem I was experiencing with my dryer (very long drying times) was a problem with a clogged vent or with the dryer itself. After determining that it was the vent (and an incomplete job done by another vent cleaning company I'd bought a Groupon for), I was able to make an appointment for that very weekend for service. Andre came to my house and did a great job. I previously had another company come clean my dryer vent as lint was falling out of it on the outside of my house. The 1st guy cleaned the dryer vent, and immediately after the cleaning my dryer wasn't drying my clothes as well as before (which it was doing prior to the cleaning). He tried cleaning it out again and then stated he would need to cut into my wall to either repair or replace my dryer vent. I didn't want him to do that. Eventually, I decided to try another company. I told the technician at Dryer Vent Wizard what was going on, he turned on my dryer and listened to it. He looked into the vent from the outside of the house. He said he thinks my dryer has compacted lint in it. He said it sounded like the other guy that came out didn't know what he was doing and compacted the lint due to his cleaning method. He cleaned out my dryer vent and it works better than it did before the previous cleaning. Yes, I thought they were expensive, but I guess you get what you pay for. I had what I thought was a complicated problem with my dryer vent because my dryer is on the 3rd floor and vents through the attic to the roof. I had issues with condensation in the attic. I had called another vendor and they said they could not clean my dryer vent because the way it was configured. Another vendor had a complicated plan to address the issue. On the other hand, Eric B. made it look easy! He did a thorough inspection and explained his plan clearly beforehand, and afterward showed me pictures of the attic work he did. Stephen (who is a service technician for the company) came out to our house recently to service our dryer vent. We haven't had it cleaned since moving into our home in 2005, so we knew it was well overdue. He did a thorough inspection before doing any work, and he gave us an estimate upfront which we appreciated. He cleaned the vent, removed a bird's nest, and replaced our old beat up vent cover. They showed up within the window that they gave us and he was very professional. Problem solved and we were happy!!! Recommend them highly and would def use this company in the future. I am a regular yelper and let me say that I don't take writing reviews lightly. Whether its a horrible business or a great business, you can trust my reviews! For almost a year, I had been trying to figure out a way to hide a new dryer vent line that my electrician installed for me last fall which required drilling a hole and capping it off on the outside of my brick house (see my review for Bright Ideas, LLC). However, he wasn't able to figure out a way to better hide the new line in my basement ceiling. I was told by a plumber that this was a plumbing code issue but no plumber could come up with a cost-effective solution (one plumber actually told me to get one of those ventless dryers which cost about $1,000 even though I just bought a new washer and dryer last summer!). I also called several HVAC companies and they couldn't figure out how to hide the new line either. It wasn't until I found Dryer Vent Wizard on yelp! that the problem was fixed this past weekend. My technician was Steve Weber and he was very polite, professional and thorough in his assessment of my basement and where he could run the new line in my basement ceiling. He used a product that is fire-proof and more durable than that cheap aluminum foil material that most people use. Dryer Vent Wizard can also repair the holes they make (but they don't paint); however, I chose to get a friend of mine to repair the holes to save some money. All in all, I am satisfied with their work. If I had to suggest anything to improve their service, I would suggest that the technicians paint after repairing the holes they make which I'm sure customers would be willing to pay extra just to have the job finished in one day (especially if they already have left-over paint available like I did). If their technicians can cut and repair drywall, I would think they should be able to touch-up paint! For those people who have houses with no outdoor ventilation for their dryers and are tired of using plastic buckets filled with water to catch lint, give Dryer Vent Wizard a call!! read more
