I had no idea Id be such a mess the day of my wedding(does anyone?lol). Nothing was going right, makeup was caked, tan was orange, everyone was late, and to top things off I was coming down with the flu. I really needed someone to step in and take direction because I could barely keep it together let alone remember what the hell I wanted out of my photos. Duane is simply amazing! My fiancé and I started looking for a photographer early on since we know that the best ones are reserved early. After countless days searching for the right one, we finally stumbled upon Duane. I emailed Duane and he replied quickly. We set up a time to do a phone conversation later that day. From our first phone conversation with Duane, we knew he was the right person. Duane is easy to talk to, polite, responsive, and he knows exactly what he's talking about. We asked Duane if he could do an engagement shoot with us as it could give us a chance to work with Duane prior to the wedding. Duane graciously agreed and we decided on Joshua Tree to do our engagement shoot. Due to COVID-19, we had to push back our initial date of the engagement shoot numerous times until we finally settled on a June date. That being said, Duane is an absolutely amazing, talented photographer! He is focused on you and what you want out of your experience! We got our teaser pictures from the wedding a short 3 weeks after the wedding, and we are absolutely in LOVE! He truly captured the beauty of the venue in a special way. It was a fairy themed wedding, and he absolutely bottled up the magic of everything in his shots! Aside from his stunning work, Duane was very easy to talk to and get a hold of. I was a pretty low communication bride overall. Once I booked things, I really only checked in with need to know details, so really the few times I did need to talk to him he was very attentive. My biggest piece of advice is LISTEN TO ANY ADVICE HE GIVES YOU!!!! He gave me several very good suggestions, and I just didn't think I needed them. Boy, was I wrong! Get a second photographer! Especially if you are on a short timeline. From the aisle to running out of the venue, my wedding was 5 hours. I already knew that wasn't enough time, but I was talked out of adding extra hours. The second photographer REALLY would have shaved off time in the beginning to get all of the venue shots and bridal party getting ready shots. This was entirely my error, but SERIOUSLY! Duane was my sister's wedding photographer 10 years ago and from her albums it was clear Duane takes beautiful pictures. When it came to our own wedding we shopped around (as I like options) but we kept coming back to Duane - we were happy to book him. He spoke with my wife and I for about an hour during our initial consultation and answered all our questions regarding timelines and editing packages. He even set us up with a great photographer to shoot our engagement photos (Duane only does engagement shoots in the Joshua Tree area). When our wedding plans changed due to Covid Duane was very understanding and supportive. He was flexible and changed dates without charging us a fee or us losing our deposit. He ended up shooting our small backyard ceremony and will return next year to shoot our larger reception. It was a bit chaotic, as our wedding ended up being a do-it-yourself affair, but Duane got some great shots, and he helped calm some of our nerves. My wife and I had the distinct pleasure of having Duane take our wedding photos in Lake Elsinore. We loved the warmth of the pictures, the authentic moments he captured, and the effort he put into ensuring our special day was fantastic. We hired him to do the wedding day shoot for our small wedding (70 people) and he was more than capable of taking tons of amazing shots. We did it over a period of 7 hours and he captured all the critical moments we would hope for him to. His turn around time for the mostly unedited draft version of the photos (yet still phenomenal) was stunningly quick (2 weeks). Duane is a highly skilled photographer with a relaxed attitude. We booked Duane for an engagement shoot and wedding package and are delighted with how everything turned out. When choosing a photographer, the style is really important. After checking out Duane's website we knew that we had similar visions for both shoots. And since Duane has shot so many weddings, he even had one at the venue for our wedding (Summit House), basically a preview for what ours would look like (with some slight color differences). We signed the contract, set up an engagement shoot, and spent a few hours together. I am honestly surprised how the pictures came out, I thought the light was too low but Duane knows how to use a camera to get just the right shot. The pictures were beautiful, we asked for some to get touched up here or there, and Duane got the revised versions to us within the week. Then on the day of the wedding Duane was ready. We discussed ahead of time what types of pictures we wanted to take, worked with a wedding planner to put together a detailed schedule. Since Duane had shot at Summit House before, he knew what background shots would look good, and also the time when the sun and lighting would be good to capture each shot. During the ceremony and reception, he and the second photographer were inconspicuous, letting everything flow and not disrupting anything. When the light was just right he pulled us aside and we quickly got the shot, then back to the reception in just a few minutes. He also worked in concert with our videographer, with each other barely showing up in the other's work. We got the wedding photos, again asked for some specific touch ups here and there, and then Duane provided them all in electronic format. From start to finish Duane was easy to work with, and you can negotiate a contract to include exactly what you are looking for. The only negative aspect in the contract we signed was a long window for getting the final electronic copies of the photos (2-6 months), and we received them ~4 months. First let me say that I am not an overly picky person, but as a bride I am really wanting the best of the best. I want to have the most beautiful, most outstanding, most memorable wedding of anyone I know. So, it took me 6 months to find a photographer, maybe more. So I am really upset and annoyed about this all but hey things happen. I thought Duane was a stand up guy and I wanted to use him for everything I started a relationship with him with booking him for my engagement party, so I could see his personality and work and go from there. My situation may sound a bit weird on paper but its the truth. You know the saying when it rains it pours? well that happened. I had my engagement shoot set up with him after my engagement party shoot from back in July 2nd.( i still have not received the promised prints, or my flash driver." Anyways , I contacted him to change our engagement session that was planned because I had just moved and a lot of complications from my fiances work and everything did not allow us to drive 4 hours to the session. Called him in advance and changed the date to the first available session which was October 1st . Called him again and told him that My email and my entire life had been hacked and I had no access to my personal things, so if he could please send me the wedding quote in my new email. Emailed him again around 12 days ago saying I had not received the quote so he emailed me back. Keep in mind I had to do this to all of my wedding things, and school, work, banks, businesses, so I tried to prioritize everything by due dates and such. Because of my relationship with him and the amount of conversations I had with him I was more than sure that he had my date set and it was just a matter of paperwork for me that was left. So what I had to deal with this week , Besides the hacked everything, I got bronchitis, and pneumonia, my fiancé got the bronchitis too and shattered my phone the day after I spoke to him, Asurion phone insurance still has not given my phone back because its on back order, so I asked a friend at sprint to lend me a burner phone yesterday because I had a lot to do while my new phone arrives. Today for the first day, my fever dropped and Im home with a working phone , the first thing i do when I get to my emails, I start printing out all of my wedding things that I had done, and check for dunes as well to put in my binder. I paypal him and email him a detailed email to make sure I have everything in order to forward and print to my planner who I had to cancel on this week as well, and guess what? All set and done, and he calls me saying, oh I thought you weren't interested anymore so I booked your date already. This happens a lot with clients when they are not interested anymore. HOW???? HOW was i never interested? My 10+ conversations I have had with you didn't show my interest? Or my confidence in you and the fact that I did not want to pressure you into the pictures you were behind on? because I said we had time? The fact that I had plans on meeting you on October for our engagement shoot? The fact that I had gone over my needs and the hours for the wedding date for hours ? Which one was it? Oh well, You lost a client thats great , I guess were all numbers in everyones books and its just business and nowadays ,no amount of words or anything ever matters . Its funny how they say in the state of california a verbal contract is enough. Apparently not.... --------- In response to Duane's response, that is a very nice story with great twists. Each time I was the one contacting you trying to get paper work straightened up with him, there was always something missing, so I could not sign and I had to wait. I pushed a date back with eshoot after I asked if it was alright with him and everything else is set, but later on he had the audacity to say I had cancelled the eshoot and that made me seem like I was no longer interested. It makes no sense what so ever and I am so happy that it turned out this way. A blessing in disguise .... I went with another photographer whom had a very smooth transaction and was very professional and prompt and detailed and went over everything signed and gave deposit to . None of the going back and forth and everything I had to do with Duane. And about the end of his little story, after all is said and done by him saying he is not able to do my wedding , he messages me that it couldn't be fixed ? I'm sorry at that point I do not want to hear it. He released a teaser on the grounds of him receiving a 2 paragraph 5 star review or pay 250 dollars to receive the pictures earlier so of course I chose the free route. I left a review to get the pictures .... and I see why he requires that because other wise no one would probably leave reviews. I can sit and pull up timelines but honestly I have more things to do at this point and I'm not spending another minute on this unprofessional so called photography person/business. This is a happy time for anyone and it should be hassle free ... and I'm glad that there are so many other great photographers out there. read more

Well I can tell you that choosing Duane was the easiest and best decision we made thus far into wedding planning. The things I looked for when on the hunt for a bridal photographer was personalities matching, professionalism, punctuality and passion about taking photos. Outfit changes, false eyelash technical difficulties (I'm keeping it real y'all!), missing hair gel, tripping over train tracks.. you name it. He kept a smile on his face and said "take all the time you need". It was pretty awesome. His calm demeanor kept me calm. Not to mention the more he said "it's gonna be great", "you're doing great", "it looks wonderful"- the more at ease we were. After hours of shooting, various location and hundreds of photos- he honestly didn't want to stop. We were the ones that called it quits because we were just exhausted. You can really tell that he loves what he does and it shows through his photos. We are very happy with our choice and honestly feel it was the best decision we could have made. We got photos in the mail less than a week after taking pictures. You can't get better service than that. Duane and his assistant were our photographers for our wedding this month. Duane was very professional and easy to work with, he knew exactly what was needed and was great at communicating that. Duane was very responsive which I appreciate as I was planning my wedding from another state. Duane took us out during the reception for a few minutes to capture this amazing photo at night. We just saw a glimpse of it on his camera and loved it. We are very excited to receive our teaser gallery soon. I honestly can't say a bad thing about Duane. Even my fiance who is VERY critical said Duane did a great job and enjoyed the photo shoot experience. We did our engagement photos at the O'Neill National Park in Orange County with our 3 dogs. Duane was very patient with our 4 legged circus and was even clever and brought tools to grab our pups' attention so we could get the perfect shots. (Not an easy task) If you are like me and grade school pictures is the closest thing you've came to as a photo shoot experience then you need someone to really walk you through everything. Duane did that for us and even had example pictures of poses for us to try. When it came time to figure which pictures get edits and or special effects honestly I didn't have a clue how to pick. Duane took the time to guide me through that as well. I received raving compliments on how beautiful our pictures came out and I truly have Duane to thank for that. I don't even know where to start with Duane... He's an amazingly skilled photographer, but more than that, he's kind, quirky (in a good way) and conducts himself in such a manner that really puts you at ease (a quality that the groom especially appreciated) . We visited with several... and I mean several photographers and each and every one of them left us feeling anxious about completing a business transaction. Duane on the other hand, took his time and made us feel comfortable about piecing together how we were going to create memories. He was the only photographer we met with that didn't make the groom sweat (literally). Duane is timely, professional and works hard to get his shot without creating a stressful atmosphere. He's very creative and does a great job about running with ideas and feedback presented to him. Many of the photographers we met with came off as detached and mechanical. Not Duane. While he gets to the point and doesn't waste time, he does what he needs to do to get the shots he needs and works hard to engage you, guide you and facilitate the process if needed. We had one engagement session with Duane that included a few outfit changes and even a few different locations. On the day of, we took full advantage of having him setup his "Ring of Fire" photo booth which included a second photographer. The guests loved it and we really liked his unique approach with the "Ring of Fire," which creates amazing lighting. Daniel (the 2nd photographer) was very observant and even took the time to appreciate and snap a few shots of the hand-picked craft beer selection stashed away in a cooler in the grooms suite. I gave him a call and since our initial conversation until now he has been very professional, responsive and very easy to work with. Quality-We just received our wedding photos this week and are so impressed with Duane's work. We are soooo happy with how everything turned out!! Love how he captured every moment and detail from that day. From the engagement pictures to the actual day of we have been blown away with his creativity and patience. Of course there were traditional shots that every bride wants from her wedding day (dress shot, wedding party, family, etc) but Duane was able to sneak in some unique shots that I would of never thought of that really set him apart from other photographers. Duane was awesome! He went above and beyond to help us find the perfect place for our photos. We came in from out of town having never been to California before. He had suggestions and was basically a guide for us to find the perfect spot. We chose Joshua Tree National Park which happened to be during the government shut down. We were afraid we wouldn't be able to do photos there so Duane had several other locations in mind. It turned out that we were able to do them at Joshua Tree and they couldn't have turned out better. On top of that it was Christmas Eve and he stayed well into the evening to get great night shots. I recommend him to anyone getting married and in need of a great photographer!
