We restaurant folk always appreciate a bar whose kitchen stays open late; being able to grab a bite and copious amounts of booze in the same place after a long shift is crucial to our survival. We don't mind the standard beers on tap or that none of our servers seem to know what Plymouth gin is. We like the spinach-artichoke dip, love the chicken Madeira, and despise the soggy calamari. And as the most sober people in the place (at least for a while), we find the people-watching here, where suits and brutes collide, some of the best in the city. Dat restroom line, doe. This place is always a bad idea, but bad in a good way. It's where the normal folk go by day and the industry people stuff themselves in by night and drink till the sun comes up. Open till 4am 365 days out of the year, Dublins is my late night fav. So this place is considered a dive bar, but it's a dive bar with pretty fine food. Their soups are simply AMAZING. My friend Ryan will try all of them every time we go there. I usually order a lot of food at once and everyone picks at it. You wouldn't think this place would produce good stuff, but it tastes like a high class joint. I was there on Sunday night and noticed that they re-did the crappy bathrooms. Thank you! Now I don't have to worry about catching a virus from breathing in there. The bartenders and servers are always totally cool, laid back and friendly. Dublins is always a safe bet for good food and served late too. I have had countless meals at Dublins late in the evening after a few drinks and also early evening for dinner. They get packed easily and it can be a wait for a table, but it's usually worth it and not horrible to wait. The staff is friendly and easy to deal with on busy nights. They know what they are doing and do it well. Leaves a little to be desired on the decor and atmosphere in my opinion. The name kinda gave away the Irish theme, but if I didn't know the name I'd have no clue whats going on inside. I've never left for dinner thinking "Lets go somewhere pretty" though, so I wouldn't dock their rating for it. read more

A good late night choice if you like beer and want food. We came in here around midnight on a Wednesday night and there was no wait but the place was packed. Late night menus aren't anything extravagant, especially at Irish pubs, but I took notice of several menu items: the Baked Brie served with Apples, the Baked Goat Cheese, the Freddy's Lamb Kebab with grilled tomatoes, feta cheese, rice and mint sauce, and the Chicken Etouffee. We settled for the chopped salad with chicken minus bacon and also an order of the "The Best" Carrot Cake. Now was it really the best? I don't know about that but damn it was pretty fantastic. Perhaps it's because my boyfriend lives right above Dublins and I walk by it every single day, but I never really get the urge to go in. I mean, I will if it's the easiest option for late night food and drink (and I can't walk more than 50 feet from the door), but there's nothing really special about it beyond the location and hours. But I suppose there's something about the place, because whether its 3pm or 3am, it is ALWAYS doing a good business (oh hi, location and hours!) But, they pour a stiff drink, have plenty of beers on tap at "reasonable for VT" prices, and make passable pub food (passable is fairly generous...stick with drinks if you can). And if you snag a spot outside, it's people watching at its best. I've always found service to be attentive and prompt at any hour of the day...or night. What I won't ever get is why they have two single unisex bathrooms. At 2a.m. on a Saturday night, there was a line of men 6 deep to use the bathroom. Wha? read more

I had forgotten how much I love cities where the booze flows until 4am and kitchens stay open until 3am or later. Dublins was not an intended stop, but a great choice nonetheless. We were not ready to go home, and we were starving. The place was packed and we quickly were seated thanks to the host. I am 100% against bar food on a normal basis because all I can think about are greasy burgers and chunky fries, but Dublins knows how to bring on some decent bar food. Clam chowder, steak entrees, burgers, salads and more. I had a great salad and bread, and the clam chowder looked pretty good. Portions are huge as you would expect at any pub. It's great to grab a table because you can easily get drinks from your server without worrying about the crowded bar area, and you can chow down on the food you need from a long night of partying. They have a "bar cast" which is a screen that shows pics of people in the bar. You can email the pics in and wait to see your friends appear on the screen. Major points for the service at this place because it was great! Everyone was nice and our server even saved me from a creepy dude at the bar that lurched at me for no apparent reason. My first time at Dublin was some drunken St. Patty's Day a couple years ago. As I don't recall that experience, I figured I would visit again...sober this time. Upon arriving, the staff quickly seated us and took our drink orders. This is the sort of place you go for a simple mixed drink or a beer. Our waiter was patient and attentive. As you can't really screw up a gin and tonic, let me get to the food. I had the veggie sandwich with waffle fries. The waffle fries were what you would expect. The sandwich, on the other hand, was a little underwhelming. Although the ingredients sounded amazing; peppers, avocado, mozzarella, and a few other things on ciabatta, the sandwich lacked in taste. When I go back, I would rather stick with their fish and chips or something you would typically order at most bars. At any rate, I'm sure I'll be back by one way or another. read more

We've been to Dublins several times., and were in the mood for a good light dinner. First - we had the Reuban which was excellent. They certainly don't skimp on the portions, which made the price fair. Our server and water guy were great....very attentive and friendly - My only complaint would be that there are no beer prices and the sticker shock of a $7 draft beer (312, and another local beer) was waaaaay overpriced. Seriously, had this been a $4 beer, I'd be ordering a beer next time, as it is, I'd stick with the food, and have something non-alcoholic.......they need to lower the prices a bit.....there are way too many bars in the neighborhood that offer more reasonable prices..... Food is pretty good here and I really like that this place stays open late. They could stand to brush up on their customer service skills. Two different times I overheard the staff body shaming and talking very negatively about some of their customers. I recently ordered food over the phone for pickup during my lunch break from work and arrived 15 mins later to find out that they had not even put in the order. They blamed the new guy and all he did was shrug his shoulders and say "sorry" and walk off. Just bad service. So if you can stomach the bad service and the seemingly immature staff, the food is actually good with good portions. Oh and sit outside if you can. read more

This is not my 'hood, but we ended up here before a St. Patrick's Day fundraiser on Saturday. We got seats at the bar right away, and the bartenders were very nice. You're totally getting what you pay for here, plus free entertainment (people watching at it's finest!). I want to like this place because I've heard such good things, but I just don't think I do. I've gone twice because I just really want to like it, but both times were just OKAY. I got a Paloma one of the times, and it barely had an tequila in it, it seemed. It DID, but it wasn't enough for what the drink is. It was mainly juice and such. Meh. The bartender the first time I went was a younger man, and he was very nice. The second time, I was a little intoxicated....so I don't really remember what the bartender looked like. Somehow stumbled across this place in Chicago for a drink, little small place with a lot to offer. I had gotten a beer called 312 believe it was. It was good and I was already half way drunk heading into the place. I was watching the Duke and North Carolina Basketball game which appeared to be not so popular as the Chicago Blackhawks were playing. We did not order much, just some of the best onion rings I've ever had and potato skins. The service also was great. Stumbled in here on a Thursday night after I had just gotten off the plane. I was super excited to have something where I could get something to eat in the middle of the night. The bar is cool, and the bartenders were efficient and friendly. Although I don't know if the ratio of men to women is usually 4:1 but it was that night and they were hawking on every girl who walked through the door. They were on a mission. So was I. Our missions weren't the same since mine was to eat, but they were kind enough to leave me alone after some inappropriate gesturing. I ordered the tacos which were on the appetizer menu but were actually more of a whole meal. It was tasty - although the taste did get too blah after awhile. My water was refilled very frequently which I really appreciated. And I'll also note that they tried to pass off bananas as plantains. They should just admit they're bananas or own up to being out of plantains since it sucks to bite into what you think are going to be plantains only to get a mouthful of banana. All in all, I was happy at Dublins. I rehydrated and filled my belly. Mission accomplished. read more

While the food is good and my server last night was really friendly, I'm really disappointed with Dublin's. When we walked in, the "Host" (who is actually the manager) asked us if we were planning on eating or just grabbing drinks, because they reserve the booths for people eating dinner. Fair enough, so they sat us at a shared table so we could grab some beers. Fast forward to getting our check- after four rounds of beers for three people, the check was $123. And after looking more closely, they charged us a "table tax" even though we were sitting at the drinks only table. After bringing it up to our server, the manager came over and started arguing with us to try to justify the charge. Eventually she took the charge off and acted like she was doing us a favor. Unbelievable! I would suggest getting drinks elsewhere, as Dublin's is over-priced and will rip you off at any opportunity they can. Happy hour drinks *BEERS* should not be over $100. My husband really wanted to watch the Army Navy football game over some beers, so we stopped here randomly. There was no room at the bar, but we told the hostess we just wanted to watch the game & have some drinks. She sat us at a 4-top table & was kind enough to turn one of the TV's near us to the Army Navy game. Our server was pretty rude and seemed very off-put that we weren't ordering food. It was pretty busy on a Saturday afternoon, but there were plenty of servers on the floor and ours just seemed really annoyed at us for some reason. I assume because we weren't ordering food, but I looked around and there were a number of tables just having drinks. The drink prices were a little outrageous as well. $36 for 5 draft beers. Maybe that's normal for Chicago, but for the atmosphere & service of this place- it was way more than we should have paid. read more

While I'm waiting a couple seat down in my table. Then she asked her friend seat down next to me, and command me make some space for them. I reject so he gets up and her friend just seat next to her. The food here is fantastic. I've ordered the Salmon Salad and Gold Coast salad. They are HUGE and great quality! If you come with a friend, I suggest splitting the salads. I also suggest ordering the goat cheese and toast appetizer. The goat cheese comes in a tomato sauce, which is amazing. My mouth is watering just thinking about this appetizer. Stopped here for lunch on a nice summer Saturday. We live in the area and this was our first time at this place. Wanted to eat outside and this place was able to accommodate. Our server was nice. The food was meh. Had the fried calamari that didn't taste like anything. The onion rings were ok. We also had a Polish with waffle fries. Fries were cold and tasteless. Polish was ok. This bar is in the middle of the Viagra Triangle, but it's pleasantly casual, unpretentious, and relatively inexpensive. And they serve food late! At 2 am we were told there was an hour wait for a table. (what??) but somehow we got lucky - I think by announcing we were there for a birthday - and got seated quickly. Allegedly this is an Irish bar but I definitely didn't get that vibe. It was certainly crowded! We got potato skins and spinach/artichoke dip, both of which were surprisingly decent given the setting and the hour. The potato skins were super crisp and loaded with bacon, cheese, scallions, and sour cream. We polished off the dip too, which was hot and cheesy and bubbly. Not reinventing the wheel, but very very satisfying at 2 am. I don't think I'd ever come here unless it was late at night and I wasn't done drinking, and wanted something to much on. So hard to find a bar that serves food this late! That's probably its best asset. But the atmosphere wouldn't exactly draw me in at an earlier hour. read more

We walked into Dublin's while waiting for a dinner reservation. We got two rounds of drinks -- at basically an extension of the bar. There were 5 of us. $190 WITH gratuity. First off, that's ridiculous for beers and a shot. Second off, I've never had gratuity added for a party of 5 for drinks. I've never tipped short of 20% in my life (used to work in the service industry, I get it) unless it was horrendous service, but the gratuity added for 5 people just put a sour taste in my mouth. For more of a "local" bar I wasn't expecting this. We will not be returning. read more
