How do you give negative stars?! Looks are not deceiving...Dublin Bar and Grill is beyond a dive and straight out of a nightmare. The amount of cockroaches crawling around at one point out numbered the patrons in this joint. Beware, this place will leave the wrong type of a lasting impression...Infestation!!! read more

From the best house salad in the city to the outstanding culinary exppertise with their entrees dublin's has proven that they just kick ass. On our last minute pub crawl in the Gold Coast, we stopped in to meet some friends and have some drinks. I always am a sucker for 312 on draft, and I was not surprised at the $6 price tag. The atmosphere is more casual and laid back than typical bars in this area, but the prices are not. Scored a great seat to watch the World Series and actually stayed for quite a bit. Ordered and inhaled their scrumptious soup of the day, Garlic Potato Gruyere. Smooth puree of garlic potaoes, enveloped with cheese. I would come back just for this! read more

What can I say about this place. It hasn't changed in the twenty years that I've been coming here and it doesn't have to. A nice place to go when you aren't in the mood to drop a fortune on a beer and an app. In fact, the $5 onion ring soak up the alcohol quite nicely. Sybil, maybe. Okay, there are only two distinctive personalities at Dublins and I love them both. First, there is the late night Dublins, the slightly naughty personality where after a night out in the Gold Coast, its serves good reliable food that everyone in your group of picky friends or total strangers can agree on. They serve it late, very late...in fact as late as they possibly can. They serve it well, with decent, friendly servers, exceptional bartenders and Beata the hostess who keeps it all under some semblence of control. I've had late night noshes and cocktails with everyone from Rod Stewart to the kitchen staff from Gibsons, MLB players and barflys galore. Always reliable and always open 365. Trouble is always lurking in the shadows but never really shows its ugly face. Always a smart move to stop in, have something to eat and call it a night. The one late night place thats still safe for me to go to. Then there is your day time Dublins, the sweet and innocent one where you can sit at the bar and have a sandwich and the bartender will watch the game with you or leave you alone to read the newspaper he happily hands to you. Your choice. Always filled with industry people, day or night. Always see a familiar face. Always treated well. Great people watching from the sidewalk cafe where I have spent many an afternoon watching the world go by and have never been asked to leave or felt rushed for them to turn the table. Excellent beer selection and really decent menu with everything from escargot to cheeseburgers to filet, not just standard bar food. Always sports on the plasma but there is only one, not twenty. There are always regulars that will make you feel welcome and scoot over a stool or two to give you your space. I should deduct a star or so for the awful bathrooms and the eternal wait at night since there is only one stall but to be honest, it is where I have engaged in some pretty interesting conversations, seen some wild things go down and got invited to a Cubs Pirates game by one of the Pirates(and yes, the tickets were actually at will call the next day!) but would have to give then right back for the times I've had lunch here on Christmas because I've worked till 4am at private parties on Christmas Eve and wasn't quite ready to deal with family. Or the numerous times I've gotten my butt kicked at work and didn't have a chance to eat and they have served me something even after last call. Always reliable. Always comfortable. Always a familiar face. (in the interest of full disclosure, I do know the owner very well, but unfortunately, I NEVER see him here since it is random when I pop in . I know that he knows many, many people so I can assure you the service I get has nothing to do with our friendship. Nor do the stars!) read more

I went here on St. Paddy's Day weekend, so I was bracing for a rowdy experience upon entry. But I really underestimated the cluster that awaited me inside. The crowd must've been at or very near to fire code capacity, it was nearly impossible to move let alone get a drink, and Lucky Charms were flying everywhere (racist!). I live nearby and I'm a little puzzled as to why this place is always SO crowded. The prices are not cheap (for a few bucks more, you could eat at nice restaurants), and I don't think they play music or anything, so I guess it's the location... Had the food, not bad, seemed typical to me. If anything, they do have anexpansive selection of things on the menu/specials. Maybe b/c I haven't tried any of the non-traditional bar food... This place has surprisingly good food for being a "Irish Pub" on the Gold Coast. The price really helps as well. The folks came in for a Tuesday afternoon so we hit up this place for a late lunch early dinner. We were very happy with our meals: salad, sandwiches, burger, beer. The service was great and they were kind about dietary restrictions which is always a plus. A beer shanty in the shadow of the great monolith near the desert palace. Awash in darkness, this hole in the wall offers solace to those of little fashion or class or interest in impressing (which you may find plentifully across yonder avenue). The roof perhaps was thought about after its construction was underway, far too late to avoid the unsightly rafters that nearly knock your head as you walk about. And why bother to walk, as you can scarcely move when the crowd gathers nightly. Above all, you must remember that the establishment profits from volume apart from refinement. Cast your dollars elsewhere should you seek a better service, or even a finer ale. But you may find a few dollars leftover from the revelry after waking from your post-Dublin's slumber. read more

It was late, we were hungry, my friend (Lu C.!) vaguely remembered "some Irish pub place somewhere in the Viagra triangle" (and yes, that's exactly what she told the cab driver) and somehow we managed to find it. All I have to say is CORNED BEEF SANDWICH. My boyfriend, who orders corned beef everywhere he goes, still talks about corned beef at Dublin's. I guess it's gotta be good! Other bonuses: large portions (ate leftovers for lunch the next day) and good service (our server was nice enough to warn us about their over-priced Irish car bombs before we ordered them. Came here on the recommendation of the bellman at our hotel & it was OK. We were quickly seated & given our drinks. Our food orders came pretty quickly, too, which was great since we were starving. I got the corned beef & cabbage & while I would've wanted my cabbage cooked a bit more, it was delicious! The corned beef was so tender. The portions are very large, but great for the price. The one thing I didn't like was that we were surrounded by cougars on the prowl. read more

I think Dublin's is a pretty good bar for the Viagra Triangle area. I've been here a lot when I wanted to grab a bite to eat before or after I go out drinking. For some reason I like going to some of the bars in this area even though they are full of a bunch of cheap hookers looking for rich men. Maybe I just like seeing all of the people from different backgrounds. I just love their food at Dublin's even though sometimes they are very crowded and the service is not very fast. But there are some nights when it is not crowded in there. I do wish they would clean the bathroom more often though but I usually go there first so I use the bathroom at the next bar I go to so I don't have to use the one at Dublin's. Most of the women who go there must be total pigs. But I have to say absolute best late night bar food in the area in my opinion. read more

when a restaurant has good BREAD, that's a good indicator that they have good food. this theory hardly ever fails me. dublins has some awesome BREAD and everyone knows I LIKE BREAD. it's chewy without being too doughy, it's got a great crust and it does it's thing with the olive oil + p'sean like no other! dublins is my go-to spot if i want a good salad, they have many choices for all of you lettuce heads: - blackened chicken + shrimp (not hot; it's got avocado, tomatoes and add in some hearts of palm. get it with the house dressing and also ask for mustard dill dressing on the side, trust me on this!) - the mediterranean (fresh mozz, hearts of palm,+more i forgot, but all good stuff) - seared scallops salad the salads are HUGE, so unless you're super hungry it makes sense to split. in the summer, the outdoor seating is great and the people watching in the viagra triangle could not be better! (this restaurant group owns: Bijan's, Old Town Brasserie and the newly opened D2 (the next Dublins generation in Streeterville at the bottom of the Streeter)). read more

Came here this past Sunday and it has been awhile,since me and my husband started dating(it was our second date place!). Their salads are AWESOME. I had the Chopped Salad with chicken added and my husband had the Chicken Caesar salad. They are huge! Looking for a bite to eat on Halloween night, I dropped in to Dublin Pub. It was a mistake all around. I can't really imagine why anyone would go here other than to drink Irish beer. The place was only about half full, but I stood around for several minutes before the "host" (who was sitting watching the football game) acknowledged me and invited me to sit anywhere I wanted. A couple minutes later, he handed me a menu. (Apparently the problem was that I was a middle-aged man by myself. A group of four who came in a few minutes later were greeted effusively and ushered to a seat.). I ordered fish and chips, which came out so fast I wondered how they could have cooked it. The fries obviously had been sitting somewhere for a while waiting to be served (lukewarm, soggy). The fish pieces were very hot, but tasteless. 5 Stars because a pub that has food this good and calamari this good should get 5 stars! I've been coming to Dublin for about 17-18 years, and some thing that don't change are good! Dublin is still consistently good in food and service. My absolute favorite thing is their mediterranean salad, second is their insanely lean corned beef. I've never had a problem with service, and they have some different beers on the menu, not the stuff you typically find on every pub menu in the city. All in all Dublin's is still a solid! read more

For what we were looking for (drunken food), this place was unnecessarily expensive. I had their artichoke & spinach dip, and was NOT impressed.
