I have talked with Tim, Alan and Shane and find them all to be knowledgeable, friendly and just plain nice guys. The front end repair was done perfectly with no post-repair issues. The car immediately felt better when I drove off. What sold me on Car Tek was this - I brought my car in with a list of things to repair. They put the car on the lift and asked me to join them to take a look underneath. They pointed out everything they saw on the list and told me exactly what it would take to fix it. I had a smog check done on my car today, and wanted to write this review to say that the service was fast and friendly. I made my appointment via yelp and received $20 off the smog check with their coupon. They have signs up at the entrance about the precautions they are taking (wearing masks, social distancing, etc.) due to the public health situation. The technician who did the smog check wiped down the inside of my car after the service, which was appreciated. Was referred to this place by the Goodyear Tire on Rosewood for a CA smog check. So HUGE THANK YOU for the referral. I called at just after 3pm and they were able to get me in same day for an appointment which was perfect. I was at the shop by 3:45 and I was leaving by 4:15. Needed a smog check I had called around to different places and received a quote from Tim through Yelp. This was one of the lowest quotes in the area. I had a few more questions and Tim answered them through Yelp quickly. Tim set up an appt for the next day. FYI - they stop taking smog checks 1 hour before close. I went to Dublin Car Tek based on a recommendation. I have been very happy with my existing mechanic, but I thought I would give this place a try since it is closer to my home. What a great experience I had here!!! Alan was very thorough with his descriptions and explanations of what they would be checking and doing for replacing my front brakes, which were vibrating due to the rotors being warped. He provided my with several options and let me choose what I wanted to do and said he would call if they saw anything else once they got under the vehicle. They found no other issues on my '06 Lexus GX and the work that they did was outstanding! This is a hidden gem, smack dab in the middle of car central (gas stations, Kragen, Autobahn, parts and maintenance galore) but it his literally hidden behind Subway so don't become discouraged when you're cruising down Dougherty and miss the turn off onto Sierra Ln. Car Tek is there and they are ready for you! I came here for a desperately needed oil change and got just what I needed. They did not push for special parts or any of the bells and whistles other* Oil/Tire places try to add on to the bill. The service was responsive, quick and very informative. I took my car to this place for some electrical work and a synthetic oil change and front wheel alignment. The oil chg and wheel alignment were straightforward enough... the electrical work, wow, what a mess. They quoted me a quote to quote me. Yes, you read that right. Then, they said it would probably cost $180-220 to tell me what was wrong. I thought a quote was supposed to do that, and not cost so much. I got charged $30 to be told that it would cost $180-220 to get me the real quote. Then he asks me for the wiring diagram. If I had that and a few tools, I'd do the work myself. Also, they are not the friendliest place around, kinda feels like I'm visiting the Bronx or something. I think their plate is plenty full, so no need to fight hard for more customers. That's the impression, anyhoo. But the prices and service for typical stuff (fluid changes, brakes) seems to be pretty good. And clearly they do a good job at the most basic kinda stuff. And the prices are okay, but not fantastic. I was charged the same price here that I was quoted from other places. Exactly the same. Also, I was told to have my brake fluid, steering fluid and tranny fluid changed, but that was done only a year ago, so I know they were trying to "sell" me on unnecessary services. I don't know what the hype is all about. I think this place is decent (hence the 3 stars), but for more complext work, I'm taking my car to another business in San Ramon. FAR more sophisticated, far friendlier and even holds about 8x the number of cars. read more

So, it's Friday after work and I'm winding my way back to San Leandro from Half Moon Bay when out of nowhere my, "Check Engine" light comes on. You just know what I'm thinking. I'm trying to figure out either how I'm going to get my car repaired on a Saturday or how am I going to adjust work to fit in this sudden repair. Not to mention the $$ I'll wind up spending. Long story short, I end up calling this place Saturday around 11am and telling Ryan that if he can take me, I'm on my way. I get out there, he does a diagnostic to see what the problem is. Afterwards, he comes back and tells me that he's 99.9% certain that his course of action will solve the problem. The most amazing thing of all is that the total cost was WAY cheaper than I had imagined. Whew! I think I was there all of 90 minutes. Talk about having a wonderful weekend! I went to Dublin Car Tek to have my front brakes and rotors replaced on my BMW. Needless to say this type of maintenance on a BMW is pricey anywhere you go for quality work. They allowed me to use coupon for discount off brake service in the Value Pak too, which saved me $50. We scheduled appointment and they got my car in and out same day. I appreciate the ride to/from the nearest BART station which was very helpful. Within a month or so, my brake lights and parking brake indicator comes on again. Fortunately after speaking with Owner and Shane we scheduled to bring car in for oil change and find out what was happening with these indicators coming on and off sporadically. The guys looked at the problem and fixed it. I appreciate the follow-up call a few weeks after to inquire if I was satisfied and how my car was running. Another happy experience at Car Tek. Our Tahoe's emergency break's cable snapped and Ryan coached me through the process of manually releasing it while not being kicked in the face by the released peddle. Evidently he has personal experience to vouch for the amazing kick these peddles pack! Got the cable replaced and was once again pleased by Ryan's knowledge, willingness to help and above all above-board honesty and integrity. The bill was less than expected --- how often does that happen??? And the 10% discount on labor over $200 was an added bonus. While they were really busy, they were able to diagnose the vehicle in a half day, called me with an estimate for time and money, which seemed reasonable. They stated it would be 2-3 days to get parts. Called me the next morning to follow up stating the parts would be in early and, low and behold, the car was done the next night, 1 day early. Car Tek serviced my car once before for what ended up being a bad battery and I can only give good marks there. But I give GREAT marks for today, as I dropped my car off this morning w/out an appointment because it "sounded like sh*t. (That's my non-professional assessment, of course.) 2 hrs later they called to tell me my alternator was probably busted and everything needed to be pulled apart to confirm and repair. The quoted price seemed reasonable to me and they had parts in stock. I'll have my car back in the next 1/2 hour, before their shop closes for the day. All in all, I've only ever been treated with respect and kindness. I've gotten my car back quickly, much faster than I expected, and at reasonable cost. I've been going to Car Tek more than 15 years. They've done everything from oil changes and brakes to bearings, shocks and one time replacing an engine in my then 12 yr old F150. They've serviced my (and son's) American sedans, pickup, and sports cars and they stand by their work. Last week I took in my sports car because of wheel noise and I as a shade tree mechanic, guessed one thing. Tim and Alan checked it out and guessed it was another - not something expensive as I guessed. They were right. They've always demonstrated high ethics, doing work thats needed and they don't try to find work that is not needed. I'll keep going to Car Tek for the coming years - its rare to find customer service, and quality workmanship, so I'd recommend going to Car Tek when you have car maintenance needs. read more
