Three quacks for Duck Donuts! Quack 1- Concept. I have been to other Duck Donuts locations and I love the concept. The donuts are made to order and customized just the way you like! You'll pick a glaze, crumble and drizzle to top a plain cake style donuts. Quack 2- Accuracy. Even when ordering a lot of donuts Duck Donuts got everything right. Just to make sure everything is 100% staff will double check before closing up your box. ((I probably would have eaten mine even if my order was wrong.)) Quack 3- Taste. I'm going to be honest when I say I ordered a lot of donuts and I ate 60% of them myself. The fact that they are hot is an added bonus. Whenever I tell people I love the always hot and ready donuts at Duck Donuts they tell me Krispy Kreme does the same thing. Incorrect. Only sometimes does Krispy Kreme have hot and ready, and is only the original glazed. At duck donuts donuts are always made hot and ready for you. Why the minus quacks you ask? Why is there only white cake donuts? Where is the chocolate? Why the awful location? ((Great space but horrible parking.)) read more

The donuts in the morning taste great, but the staff isn't friendly. Almost no one spoke to me or greeted me nicely and I have been there twice to pick up donuts that I ordered online. The second time that I picked up donuts after placing my order online, the company emailed me because they thought I didn't pay for the donuts. I had to send several confirmations that I paid for the donuts. Perhaps they should have a better online ordering system or check all their systems before accusing a customer of stealing donuts. I hate leaving negative feedback but I hope this review will make them change their standards for greeting customers. If you pick up donuts after 5 pm, they might not be that fresh/warm. read more

The donuts were as fresh and aesthetically pleasing as I had seen pictures of. They were a refreshing change of pace from the original glazed Krispy Kreme classic. However, I probably wouldn't come again as the taste seems to be a bit off. It was definitely enjoyable for the first time and I definitely recommend that people try it but I don't find myself craving their donuts in the near future. The most disappointing was actually the maple bacon one. I had high hopes for it for the tastes just didn't blend well for me. The best one was actually the top middle one in my picture (I think it was french toast?). It looked kind of bland but it was amazing in flavor. read more

Duck Donuts provides that opportunity for YOU to create your donuts with various different toppings to choose from! Duck Donuts reminds me of another donut shop called Fractured Prune. Very similar in a sense that the actual donut is is an old fashion donut, which by itself isn't all THAT great, but with various toppings it can be quite delicious! The style of donuts here isn't like SUPER unique since Fractured Prune has been a while for quite a while now but that doesn't mean these donuts were super delicious! Can't say that the donuts you order are always going to be super fresh even though they give buyers the chance to see the process that goes into making the donuts. There are some already made that are in a bowl while new donuts are being made so they use what's been sitting out first before using the new ones. You can always get lucky and order when they're making a fresh batch though! I personally don't like the super fresh ones cause the hotness of the donut makes all the toppings all droopy and messy when you try to eat it. When it's just warm and not hot it allows the toppings to solidify a little so it's easier to eat and enjoy! Def. will come back once and awhile if I'm looking for some sweets! read more

Duck Donuts puts out solid doughnuts. Neither cakey nor super light, these doughnuts are somewhere in the middle. So while this isn't my favorite doughnut place in the District, I am always a fan of a place that gives you lots of options (toppings, glaze, etc) at an affordable price. Couple that with the fact that their doughnuts are made to order, they're a good option when you have a craving can either order popular doughnuts, or make your own. These doughnuts are best hot, because once they cool down, they become less substantial and harder. I will confess to eating the remnants in the box once the doughnuts cooled down, but that's because I don't like to waste! read more

I'm almost exclusively a yeast-raised donut junkie, but now am a total convert to Duck Donuts. They are somewhere between a cake donut and an old-fashion. It's hard to imagine how a donut shop could set themselves apart from larger chains, but they have done it. In the store, you see the staff making the dough and frying it in front of you. The donuts are ACTUALLY made fresh for you, even in the afternoon. The dough is very soft and dense without feeling under cooked and has a nice crispiness on the outside. You can customize the donuts as much as you want. Good variety of toppings and unique sauces (e.g., marshmallow, salted caramel). Bring your family and friends to this place if you really want to impress them :) read more

This location is awesome! The staff members are consistently professional and happy to help you when you get overwhelmed with the menu choices. I thought Krispy kreme was the standard of the industry lol until I actually visited this place I think I had a bellygasm that was one of the greatest donuts the I have ever had I felt like homer simpson I am a fan of the duck now so if you a ever near one please stop in and taste one prefer abbly get there when they 1st open In try one that's made to order you will not be disappointed and the customer service was absolutely wonderful is well I will definitely be visiting the duck again sometime in my near future read more

The duck name had me curious so I had to come in to check it out. I got two donuts, bacon maple and Lemon cake with raspberry. Soooo good. Totally worth gaining weight for these guys. Two donuts came to be under $4. The donut is denser than Krispy Kreme's. It's more like a cake batter. I love how you can customize eat donut to your hearts content. Yum! read more

The donuts are awesome. Owner and staff are very friendly. They know me by name and start working on my order when they see me drive up. There was a day when they had an order for 50 dozen and had the door locked so they could get them all ready. The owner saw me and brought me my normal 3 donuts so my body wouldn't go into shock! Went up to cashier cause it was my first time and asked about their menu and they were very rude,cold and were rushing. The donuts were not that good different from regular ones but it was cool seeing them get dipped. I would not recommend. read more

Took my son here and he was questioning if it was made with ducks and being an awesome father, I said yes. Sadly, I was informed by the staff it was not when they tried to comfort my crying son and I came out the bad guy I the situation. Still... awesome donuts even if it's not made with ducks... I would have posted pictures by my son ate the donuts before I could have taken any. It's just that damn good. read more

Duck Donuts is perfect for one that loves specialty donuts of all flavors! Today I ordered the white icing with Oreo crumble, cinnamon, and apple streusel donuts. I was pleasantly pleased. The donuts are made hot and fresh to order. I also added the caramel latte since it's getting frosty outside. That was tasty too. The location is great, lots of parking right in front. The customer service is always good and the prices are reasonable. Definitely one of my favorite spots in Rockville. Go visit and enjoy! read more

Love Duck Donuts, super customizable (maybe too customizable), made in front of you, what's not to love? I will say I found it unusual that the day I visited this particular location the place was slowly filling up with smoke. There was some chatter amongst the employees that there was smoke and they were trying to get to the bottom of it, and it seemed as though the person left to manage the shop was unaware that smoke was filling up the place. It got to the point that when people walked into the store, they seemed a bit surprised by the smoke, and it got the attention of some of the other customers. The donuts were great, I did have to wait several minutes before they started to prepare my donuts even though there was no one else in front of me. The two employees I saw were counting money, which may have delayed them in getting to my order. The employee preparing my donuts was very sweet, and she was very generous with the toppings, you can see what I mean if you take a look at the pictures I posted. I really enjoyed the donuts but was a little bit overwhelmed by the sheer amount of icing that my donut was drenched in. The employee told me that she messed up one of my donuts by putting the wrong toppings on it, so she made me a third donut to correct it. I really appreciated the generosity she showed towards me. My experience was a little bit weird with the smoke and having to wait and having one of my orders messed up, but the donuts were really good. If you haven't been yet - go right now! read more

You get a custom made donut for $1.35. Are you kidding me? There is nothing to complain about here. We're not talking just a craft donut or baked fresh daily, or an overpriced cupcake... the donut is cooked immediately before they serve it to you. If it isn't still warm, they throw 'em out and make new ones. Toppings? Please. You can get BACON ON YOUR DONUT!!! They are not charging you per topping or limiting you on amounts. Get whatever you want. Same price. $1.35. Solid. read more

You want melt in your mouth doughy sweet goodness? The answer should be yes, and if the answer is yes, then you should go to Duck Donuts. It's warm and soft and the toppings and glaze were perfect. You can pick the toppings and glaze you want and within minutes will be a donut of your own creation. If you're indecisive like me, they have predetermined combos--I got the blueberry pancake and was not disappointed. It was my first time going and the people working were sweet and patient while my friend and I deliberated over the choices. Overall, a great experience. Coffee was also really good. read more

GO THERE BEFORE YOU DIE. Fried donuts combined with vanilla ice cream is just divine. If you've always been eating cold donut from grocery stores and never have tried any freshly fried warm donuts, this place is definitely worth it. I got the donut sundae with cinnamon sugar and Oreos on it. All the other flavors are great too but their classic glazed is just mediocre. read more

When the Fractured Prune locations in Silver Spring and Rockville closed down, I entered a period of mourning that I was never able to emerge from. I experienced the first four stages - Denial, Anger, Bargaining, and Depression - but I never really found acceptance. That is, until Duck Donuts. Thanks to Duck Donuts, I have finally reached acceptance. The donuts at Duck Donuts are fresh, warm, and delicious. They're sweet without being cloying, everything tastes fresh, and the flavor options are creative and endless. We went here around Halloween and got the Halloween dozen, which were delicious. I personally love the blueberry icing with raspberry drive and powdered sugar. It's also so much fun to watch your donuts as they are made to order and the service is great! I've found my new go-to donut shop. Please never close, Duck Donuts...I couldn't deal with the heartbreak. read more

This is my absolute favorite donut spot. I always have a different person making my doughnuts, but every single individual there always ices/decorates them so nicely! Before putting the lid on the box, they ALWAYS check and ask me if everything is to my liking. Of course, it's always perfect. The egg tarts on the other hand deserved a 5 star. Love it. The latte tasted fine, but it took them a while to make it (almost 10 mins) and served in the normal paper cup, I was hoping for a nice latte art since it took so long. I've had the Vietnamese coffee twice, the first time was great, the second time was just okay. Food items are very unique, so much so I didn't like some of them but I still enjoyed the experience. Try something that sounds weird, it's half the fun of coming in here. CONS * Allergies - it wasn't clear what all everything was made with so if you're trying to avoid gluten or peanuts or eggs, I didn't see much on ingredients. I know for some people that's a red flag. * The tea. We just thought it was above average but not amazing. I mean its right in the name, come on. * Collecting items - you gotta look for the little trays and the salad tongs. That's what you use to grab stuff out of the cases. I know for most people that was super obvious but it wasn't for me. * Summertime note: during the hotter months I've noticed they seem to have some issues with keeping things cool.

I don't know if the cover was on right, or if my movements made the top come off. I couldn't blame anyone. I did go back and had them replace the top since the other fell on the ground outside. When they say "hot" tea, they are not lying. Moving forward, no more hot drinks for me.

The owner saw me and brought me my normal 3 donuts so my body wouldn't go into shock! Duck donuts was very unique. When I walked in I filled out a sheet of paper asking me what kind of doughnut I want which included any toppings I wanted to add and what kind of drizzle I wanted. It was nice because waiting in line felt so short filling out what I would like. I got to the register and the lady was very nice. Duck donuts has a bit more variety. But Krispy Kreme is Krispy Kreme. How can I compare these donuts? If you want something old and a little hard... go to Dunkin Donuts. Great place to bring kids! While the actual donut base is limited in terms of choice, all of the topping choices make it fun to personalize your own donuts. Again nothing so special, but satisfying. Overall, it is a good bakery for sure....little overpriced and overhyped. If I was in the area, I would try them again....but I would not go out of my way.

It was light, soft, airy, but packed with flavor. I am sorry I didn't get more. They are about $3.80 a donut. I prefer getting a box of 6 for $18.00. Service was okay. Then, when you pay, they charge you more for using a credit card. So the price of the donuts are shown as 3.50. They charge you for the doughnut, then there's tax, then there's the "cash discount" which is actually an additional charge. I got the Biscoff. It was good. It's different than a donut in texture for sure but the flavor is good.
