I tried to get there before 4:30 because I heard the rumor all the ducks leave the palace after 5pm. This is a small cozy restaurant with a few tables but I think most of the orders are for takeout. The husband and wife team was nice but they only speak Chinese but I managed to place my order using the universal method of finger pointing (their two sons are fluent in English though when they showed me the restroom). The duck meal consists of thinly sliced duck with rice paper (I prefer the buns but to each his own). The soup with duck bones and soft tofu was quite good but the fried duck neck and leg bones were amazing. Imagine chewing on some fatty,salty,umami duck jerky and you would want some beer or soju to go with it. The duck itself was tender and flavorful and if you don't give a duck about ambience or the presentation at your table (if you do then check out Chang'An in Tustin) then you will have some good duck at almost half the price. Speaking of pricing this meal used to be $58 a few weeks ago but now it's $68 (will be $88 at some point?). They also have other items like fried duck parts and other looks like appetizers. I tried the chicken gizzards in chili oil and it had a hint of Szechuan pepper and even it's not very spicy and salty I enjoyed it so much I would order it again. New batches of ducks coming fresh out of oven every morning and late afternoon. Their duck is less like the ones in sgv that focus more on the crispiness of the skin. The meaty part is super marinated and flavorful. Juice burst our from the skin at your every bite. The duck sauce is a bit more on the sweeter end but it helps cut down the greasiness after a while of eating. The price for three eat is more than reasonable! Came for Domino pizza but noticed a new restaurant, decided to try out, it was after lunch hour so it was empty no one at the counter but as I was browsing, person came to take the order. Although it wasn't easy to order because it was first time. So, wanted to try little bit of varieties. Best for that was bento sampler order. Roast duck bento. Came with white rice with black sesame seeds on top, Pieces of roast duck, and three seasoned preserved side dishes. When we got there, the servers asked us if we wanted cold or hot water. We said both, half and half. Within minutes of ordering, the food came out to the table. I can't read chinese, but my family ordered a bunch of food: peking duck, pork and 3 types of noodles. They had this thin wrapping paper thing (not sure what it's called) so you can wrap your duck and eat. The duck was super juicy and tender. The pork was succulent, like...you bite into it, the pork fat spills into your mouth. It's REALLY good! Came with peppers mixed with cumin. I wish they had one locally, so i don't have to drive that far. Lol. We'll be back soon, for sure! There was a promotion going on but today is the last day. So i came here for the first time today. The box of pig ears was 12.99 which is a very small amount for that price. Then my mom and I decided on buying the pig head meat. At that time she didn't say how much and we didn't ask. But we didn't know till later they charged by per pound. We were in a rush too and by the time we got home. We noticed we got charged almost $42 for both items. What a rip off and they were not honest. They should go steal a bank. And terible service with bad attitude. No smiles, no welcomes. Unbelievable! I've been to this place total of 3 times, each time called to order the duck bento box to go. The first time I had a great experience, order was ready when I arrived and staff was friendly, portion size was enough for almost two meals. But that was my first and last positive experience. The second time I ordered, they didn't start making my order until I arrived (called 20 minutes ahead). There was only one other customer dining inside. Meat was stingy, barely filled half of the Togo box and filled rest with peanuts and other vegetable side dishes. I was disappointed but decided to give them another chance. Third order, I called ahead. The lady told me to just come and wait in line. I let them know I need the order to be ready when I arrived because I am going to work and don't have time to wait around. She said I see, okay, got my number and name. I told them I'll be there in around 20 minutes. Got there at the 30 minutes mark. When I arrived, no order was prepared. She greeted me with -- oh I thought you weren't coming! No apologies and had no other excuses. Then proceed to prepare my order. I gave you an extra 10 minutes to prepare. You purposely chose not to. If you don't like to take to go order due to risk of customer flaking on you, either inform the customer to pay ahead of time over the phone or be clear and direct and let us know you do not take to go order. Simple. Basic business etiquette. Lying is never the way to go. One star for management/customer service, the extra stars is for the food. The food is delicious. Came on a Wednesday night for dinner. Not a lot of people dining in, but definitely people getting to go. When you order the duck they cook it 3 ways. They give you the roasted duck, duck soup, and then they fry the duck bones. My husband and father in law loved the fried duck bones because they fry is so much it's like a chicharron. The roast duck is definitely good. They give you the skin, meat, sauce, cucumber and green scallions to wrap the duck. The wrap is so thin and good. You can order extra skin for $5. We got some of their cold dishes. It was delicious. Definitely oily and salty but that's what makes it good. We also got a spicy brisket noodle. That was pretty good too. The meat is good. They have a water salted duck that my in laws like a lot, but I still prefer the roasted duck. The roasted duck does run out at the end of the day so it's probably good to call ahead of time to see if they have roasted ducks. read more

The food here is great, the Peking duck 3 way is wonderful, not greasy, and flavorful. It would be great if they include two sets of wrapping papers, the portion they provide is also more generous than other places. I give the duck 3 way five stars. The management team is one star though per our past few experiences. It is hard to imagine how you can run out of fried rice especially I called ahead for pick up. Even when I got there and they were starting to prepare the fried rice (as I was told, and charged)... after waited another ten min or so, the staff(cashier) who asked the lady numerous time when will the fried rice be ready, she suddenly said we are out of rice or something.... SERIOUSLY?! And it also happened to the customer before me who ordered two duck bento, after he paid and also charged, they told him out of rice after he waited for a while.... How in the world can you run out of rice?! And how do you not know right away when you let the kitchen know about these orders?! What is the point of calling ahead to order ?! And no apology at all.... I was just told that we are out of rice, would you like a refund... and I got cash back for the missing item, without the tax I paid... I had to go back and ask for it... Food is great, but I really hope they figure out a way to get the service on par, because it is just a very frustrating process to order from them. The food was good. But the overall experience was a bit disappointing. I was very excited to have Peking duck, which I saw in the photo reviews on yelp. When I walked in, there was no Peking duck on the menu. So then I asked them about it; they said it would be $68. I said what about just for a single serving? They then pointed to the menu item for a roast duck plate for $16.99 so I said okay great give me that. When it arrived it was roast duck and not Peking duck. So apparently they don't have an individual bento box for Peking duck? But they neglected to tell me that. I think it was potentially a language barrier issue, but not 100% sure. So then I asked okay, fine, can I just get some hoisin sauce and green onions on the side? So they brought that, but neglected to tell me that they charged $3 for the green onions AND $3 for a pile of cucumbers, (which apparently comes with their Peking duck but which I did not ask for) . So my $17 non-Peking duck plate ended up being $25 which I was not at all happy about. read more

We ordered the Peking duck combo. This was my second time here and it was even better than the first. The duck was cooked to perfection. Just barely cooked, meat was so so tender, the fat was rendered well, and the skin of course was nice and crispy. Came with thin crepes to wrap wand a great sauce that's balanced well with the salty and the sweet. Also came with the fried duck legs, wings and neck with mala seasoning. Two of us were the first customers on Sunday at 11:45 AM. This place is a small family operated restaurant with a teen ager and a small boy going in and out of the place. We were great by a nice lady (probably the owner). We asked and she said the place was opened just about 4 months ago. We ordered the Roast Duck Combo for $68. The duck dish was nicely prepared and tasted delicious, as many reviews said. The dipping sauce was very good too! We did not like the duck soybean soup because it was tasteless (not as good as Japanese miso soup). We did not like the duck fried legs/neck, neither; all bone and did not taste good at all. In summary, I would order just the duck to-go but not the eat-in combo. With the extra not worth $68 plus tip. BTW. This mom and pop shop in the middle of an unassuming to downright ghetto plaza is a hidden gem of Diamond Bar. The roast duck here is the real deal. Skin is crisp and the juice is flavorful. The sides for the bento are perfectly pickled and plentiful. Whatever downsides we experienced service wise is made up for by the excellent roast duck bentos.
