Been coming here for awhile for their noodle soup. I always get their wonton noodle soup. Some days I get their small bowls and other days I get adventurous and get the big bowl. Either way very yummy. Last night - I got the big bowl of wonton noodle soup and the bf got a curry beef stew set. It comes with house soup, 2 dumplings, some pickled radish and carrots. Overall was pretty good. Get their hot oil, so yummy with the wontons. Also got the salt & pepper calamari. That was okay. The breading is a bit thick but the taste is good. Maybe its because they have pictures with like all of the food they serve that made me go back and forth on what to order. Everything looked so good. After flipping the pages multiple times, we decided to go with the: 1. shrimp and pork master wonton soup (wasn't a fan but was a friend's favorite), 2. salt pepper fried pork chop (good), 3. curry brisket with rice set meal (the brisket lacked curry taste, was not a bit spicy either but the meat was very tender). I was surprised but happy when I saw this restaurant replacing the sushi restaurant. I first tried the food from here when my sister bought home some fried wonton. It was a travel away so it wasn't at its best but it was still good. After that try, I just had to try it fresh. I can't seem to find many places that make good fried wonton. The people here are nice and they work fast. I'm a fan of their noodles and wonton so of course I order the wonton noodle soup! Great choice. I am however, not a big fan of their curry. Based on the restaurant name, I expected a basic no frills old time chinese restaurant serving wonton noodles, congee, basic rice dishes. My family was pleasantly surprised by the relatively clean decor that's more reministic of a modern HK style cafe. Appreciated how the menus had large photos and clear price listings. We got wonton noodles ($5), Jaja meat sauce noodle soup ($6), pork chives gyoza ($5), spicy oil tripe ($7), and master brine duck ($10). Prices were affordable and food tasted okay. I'm not the type who particularly craves Cantonese HK style food, but the food was satisfying. Wontons were huge with a full size shrimp inside each. I find it cute how they throw in a slice of dried seaweed in their soup noodles like a pseudo-ramen bowl presentation. Ingredients and broth were however pretty salty and probably chock-full of MSG, leaving us so thirsty after the meal. Service was brusque but efficient. The wonton noodle soup is a staple when it comes to Duck Wong. The wontons are nice and plump and you get 5 of them filled with pork and shrimp. Always ask for a side of chili oil to go with the noodle soup, it pairs perfectly as it has a nice heat and savoriness that just enhances the dish. Didn't think I was going to like this place since they specialize in a specific subset of Cantonese cuisine that I am not too fond of but Duck Wong ended up being alright. It's a pretty small restaurant and the decor is very plain but the tables and plates were all very clean. The service was superb! They greeted us the moment we walked in and were very quick in taking our orders and getting us our food. When we asked for the check, they took the initiative to ask us how the food was and when we left, they even said bye. That in itself is commendable! They also serve this lemon infused tea which I found very soothing to drink, especially since I've been having an upset stomach the past few days. Wontons in spicy chili oil- I think this is one of the items that they are known for and I thought it was delicious! The wonton skin was not too thick and the filling had a huge piece of shrimp in it that I actually didn't mind eating since I normally don't eat shrimp lol. The sauce was great! It wasn't too spicy and it also had a nice sweetness to it as well, which I enjoyed. Definitely the best spicy chili oil wontons I've ever had! What is White Bear... Curry braised beef noodles- Ehh not the best I've had. They try to make it look like a fancy Japanese ramen dish but it sort of backfires because skimpy ingredients and copycat ramen= unhappy me lol. I think they should try to stick with the traditional Cantonese method of making it. The braised beef wasn't bad though but the other ingredients were kind of mediocre. Salt and pepper chicken wings- Very crispy and delicious!! Overall, I thought the food here was alright, nothing mind blowing. But that's probably because I'm not a huge fan of these types of food. Ordered choy sum, hot & sour soup, bitter gourd salad, wonton in chili oil and fried rice with 3 different meat cuts. Their hot & sour soup was on point and differ from the ones you get at the fast food restaurant. Thumbs up for the wonton in chili oil and bitter gourd salad. I like the way they lightly braised the brisket, tendon and tripe because the flavor wasn't too salty but was still tasty. Chinese food usually makes me feel tired from being greasy but surprisingly, I don't feel sluggish after eating their food. This gives me a reason to come back and try the other stuff on their menu and not feel like i'm eating unhealthy. Pros: -Complimentary self serve genmai green tea in a bamboo handle teapot. -Interior was pretty clean which is a plus; seating was spaced enough to not feel too cramped. -Food and service was quick. -Dishes were seasoned well and not as greasy as I imagine Chinese food to be. -Just the right portion; decent enough to finish and not have left overs. Sister recommended this place so we decided to stop by for lunch today since I was already in the area. The place was pretty empty so we were seated right away. It was nice that they provided pictures for every item on the menu because it really helped with deciding on what to get. We ordered the spicy oil beef tripe, master wonton toss in chili oil, salt pepper wings, and beef brisket noodle soup. The spicy oil beef tripe was very interesting. The tripe is very thinly sliced mixed with chili oil and sesame seeds. It was addicting until I ate too much of the chili seeds. I would suggest brushing it off if you don't want it too spicy. The master wonton toss in chili oil was very flavorful. I like how they did not skimp out on the meat and shrimp placed into each wonton. The salt pepper wings was my favorite appetizer. The outside was very crunchy, while the inside still maintained the flavors. I would often be disappointed with chicken wings when the outside is nice and flavorful but the inside would be bland. These wings did not disappoint. Would've ordered another one if we weren't so full. The beef brisket noodle soup hit the spot for me because I wanted something soupy. The beef was nice and tender. However, I'd recommend you to eat the noodles before you eat the spicy dishes because the soup tasted different after the chili oil. Woohoo! A new Cantonese eatery in Bensonhurst. WONTON, NOODLES, DUMPLINGS! GET: 1) The wontons in chili oil were my favorite -- each wonton was STUFFED and SO tasty! 2) Noodles with tendons and addition of braised beef -- SO SO SOOOOO DELICIOUS. Their wonton noodles were pretty darn tasty! DON'T GET: 3) The chive and meat dumplings could've been better - they only fried it on one side and the other side was soggy, but it was still good. 4) I did not like the curry chicken with fried rice -- the curry sauce was good, but the chicken was breaded and fried... not the tender juicy chicken meat I was expecting. Duck Wong... Honestly, I have no idea why the place is named Duck Wong. Even their store name in Chinese has nothing to do with Duck. I guess they only named it "Duck Wong" it sounds SOMEWHAT similar to it in Chinese (no idea). ANYWAYS! On to the review: Absolutely love love love love LOVE this place. It's one of the best wonton places in Brooklyn. I think this is actually my favorite place for wontons! I used to love another place but they became very inconsistent and eventually lost their mojo. But this place is consistent and has never failed to make me feel happy and full. I've tried a various of their dishes. I personally don't like their ramen/Japanese infused dishes. I think it's okay. I really think they should just stick to their roots with doing wontons and cantonese food (that's just what I think anyway). I didn't really like their takoyaki--it's meh. BUT THEIR WONTONS! UGH. A must! I love their noodle's texture as well and the soup that is in the noodle is a perfect match. The wonton's skin is perfect--not too thick and not too thin. The meat is also very good and most of all, the portions inside are perfect. I also really like their wontons in chili oil (highly recommend). It's not super spicy, trust me. It really isn't. I'm one with a low tolerance for spice, so seriously, trust me. Get it! You absolutely would not regret it. Their beef stew noodles are also not bad. One of the better Chinese restaurants around town. It's nothing out of the ordinary but it definitely gets the job done when you're looking for Chinese food to satisfy your craving. Their appetizers were the best- get the wonton with chili sauce and their slice beef brisket with chili sauce. I do not think it's that's that spicy (low to medium spice level) so you're someone who cannot handle extremely spicy food like me, this is good. If you like to be treated like a piece of trash. I placed a take out order in the amount of $18.51. Since it was a take out I did not leave a tip. My order came out of the kitchen but sat on the counter for 10 minutes. It sat there before the person gave my order. The order was cold and I had to be re-heated my order. I enjoy going to this restaurant as they always have something new. Also the chef and servers are friendly. With the current COVID-19 situation, I found all the Asian restaurants were closed little after 6pm in the neighborhood except Duck Wong. Step inside and the staff were their usual friendly self. Happy we were able to get some dinner for our family after a long day of work(yes we are essential workers). The food were delicious even takeout. Wow- why have I not been here sooner? I had the jaja meat with tendon set plate (with white rice, steamed gyoza, and hot and sour soup) while he ordered the tripe and fried rice platter. 5 stars on their glistening chewy egg fried rice. We shared his while I left my white rice mostly untouched. The jaja meat and tendon were flavorful, a play on a sweet soy peanuty sauce over a heap of steamed Napa cabbage. Seriously, the filled tureen could've fed us both without ordering another entree. His tripe was much lighter with a few shakes of chinese five spice over the same Napa. I was so happy to see spleen as a part of that mixture. Oh, but his fried rice! Again, super generous on the portions, that fried rice was exactly a pint sized portion one would get at any takeout. There was an upcharge of $3 that I didn't go for- man oh man- it's worth every single penny. Next time for sure. We ordered the sesame octopus, takoyaki, beef tendon curry noodle, beef brisket noodle soup, sweet and sour pork with rice and Jaja beef tendon with rice. The rice meals cane with two gyoza duumplings, pickled veggies and hot and sour soup. The octopus was delicious! The takoyaki was the best I've ever had. Crispy, flaky and it wasn't too sweet. The curry noodle and the beef brisket noodle were just ok. Sweet and sour pork was what you expect it to be. Good but not amazing. The jaja beef tendon with rice was the best dish. It had enough spice so that you can feel a little heat. And the beef tendon was so juicy and tender. I'm drooling just thinking about it lol. I would definitely go back there for that. The dumplings were good. The hot and sour soup was tasty but a little too thick. Duck Wong is now my preferred Brooklyn location for wonton soup. They have many varieties ranging from kale and sausage, pork and greens, cilantro pork, etc. I always stuck with the shrimp & pork wonton. The best part is, all their wontons are only $5 for a bowl. This place reminds me of an HK style restaurant where they offer different noodle soup and rice sets. I've also tried a few other things on their menu but didn't think it was worth the price. For example, I had their salt pepper wings, drunken chicken and vegetable side dish and I felt that I didn't not get my value for the price paid. I've also had their jaja meat sauce fried rice which you can go to nearby restaurants for cheaper and a larger rice dish. For these reasons, I gave them a 3 star since I will only be coming here for their wonton soup. read more

Great for a quick, casual, and inexpensive Cantonese meal. Wontons, duck, curry, and braised meats (beef brisket, tendon, tripe) seems to be the backbone of this restaurant. First and foremost, I loved how simple their menu was and how every item is depicted in photos. Such a smart way to increase their sales and it makes a diners life much easier. In no specific order, we had: SALT & PEPPER WINGS ($6) -- Delicious appetizer. Crispy yet tender wings with finely chopped peppers to add that extra kick. Yum. MASTER BRINE DUCK ($10) -- This reminded me of Teochew-style braised duck similar to Bo Ky's infamous country style duck but on a sweeter scale. The sauce is so flavorful and comforting along with a hot bowl of white rice. The chili-vinegar dipping sauce provided was also good. A must get especially if you love duck! CHILI OIL WONTONS ($6) -- The wonton wrappers were thin and delicate without being too doughy. Each wonton filling had the perfect portion of the bouncy & juicy pork along with their crisp shrimp. The "hot" chili oil lathered atop added body and really enhanced the flavor of the wontons. In fact, for some that can't take spice...it was not spicy at all! JAJA ABURA MEIN ($7) -- Essentially, ja-ja mein (meat-sauce noodle) thrown into a simple yet tasty broth. Be sure to request the broth on the side so that you're able to adjust the level of savoriness to your liking. The meat-sauce is layered over a bed of noodles and veggies (cabbage & scallion). The noodles were stringy and slurpable with a buoyant texture. Their rendition of the meat-sauce is sweeter and lighter in color than your ordinary ja-ja mein. Perhaps it's the bean paste they use. Frankly, I am confused to whether this restaurant is Cantonese, Japanese or Northern Chinese food. There are dishes such as curry, dotanburi cabbage yaki, congee, braised duck, etc. creating a huge clash of cuisines. What bothered me the most about this restaurant wasn't the food (which was solid), but the service The waiters and waitresses here are withdrawn, almost antisocial and robotic. When I asked to move to a table by the corner, the waiter looked at me blankly, mumbled something in Chinese and walked away. After moving myself along with my menu and water to a different table, a female waitress took my order without writing anything down, without repeating the dishes and simply walked away without uttering a single word. At the end of my meal, I had 3 dishes which needed packing. the waitress packed 2 dishes, forgetting one. When I asked her again to pack the dish, she looked at the plate and walked away. After asking her a third time to pack the dish, she gave me a scowl and messily packed my dish. The entire bag was drenched with sauce on the outside.
