Disclaimer: I am never a fan of deep fried food or chicken wings. I have been to Duff's GTA location and I really did not enjoy it. When my Yelp friend suggested that I at least give the original location a try, I was a little reluctant. But as a food lover, I think I have to this a try. 20 wings + Large Fries + Small Pitcher of Beer for $ 26.50 is a good deal, especially when the wings is huge and meaty! The skin so crispy and so saucy at the same time. Inside was nice and moist. Even their side veggie was so fresh. We also able to split the order into 2 different sauce! The interior is simple and basic. Just they way it looked when Duff's Famous Wings started out as Duff's Tavern. Quite simply put...buffalo chicken wing perfection. These wings are just the right size, cooked to crispy perfection served with any number of wing sauce flavor and heats (I like the medium lite). And what makes a perfect accompaniment to wings...blue cheese dressing of course! Theirs has a great tang and is very creamy so it sticks easily to the wing coating. You are greater and seated quickly as soon as you walk in the door. There are plenty of options to choose from. You should order wings though since that's what they're known for! Their strawberry daiquiri was very refreshing! Food came out quickly and our server was very nice and attentive. When my wife and I came here we were immediately greeted and told to find a seat. It is open seating and there were surprisingly no issues finding a spot! In all honesty I think they were a little slow which is why we found one so quickly in such a typically busy place. When our waitress came up we had to try the pizza logs. We ordered those and once they came out I was so happy! When I bit into one the string of the cheese was heavenly and so incredibly satisfying. I probably committed a cardinal sin by not ordering the bone in wings but my wife did so I'm going to take that as acceptable. I ordered the boneless wings. Both were great and I would most definitely go back. I am of the opinion that Duffs is better than Anchor Bar but my wife thinks the opposite. So honestly you can't go wrong! When we left we had to get some of their sauce since that is 50% of what makes their wings famous! (Other 50% being the chicken of course) You can't make a wrong choice when it comes to food! We did try their beer and with it being a pale ale (which I will caution you I don't typically like) it was ok. Just ok. Would I get it again? No. But was I glad I tried it? Absolutely. read more

What do you do when in Buffalo, you eat Buffalo Wings. However, I don't eat Buffalo Wings, with bone anyway...I eat boneless, or glorified chicken nuggets as my brother tells me. Been to Duff's a few times over the years. Before this most recent visit it had been at least 6 years. Place is super casual. Right on the corner of a busy street. Private parking lot. We strolled in around 5-5:30 on a Friday night and they weren't that busy yet. Got seated right away, no wait. Typical bar food, and drinks. Nothing spectacular. But everything we had was good. My brother devoured his wing platter. My mom & I shared the Fried Pickles app and a 1lb boneless wing plate. The 3 of us shared a large fry, it was plenty to share between us. Fries were good, nice & crispy. Fried pickles too. Liked the spicy ranch dip they came with. I can't speak for the Wings, I didn't try them, but our boneless wings were good. Nice & crispy, not soggy at all. We asked for them dry with the sauces on the side. We're wimps because even their 2 medium sauces were a bit too spicy for us, haha. Our waitress, can't remember her name, was super attentive and quick when we needed something. All in all, your typical, casual bar, with greasy bar food. This is my favorite wing place in Buffalo, so during COVID, I still need wings! Didn't really want to go eat inside, so decided on take out and wings we're still amazing. Now, obv its always better if you can eat there when they are nice and hot, but they were still great. The take out containers were nice too, not those flimsy styrofoam containers. Fries came in a bag, soooo many fries in the large, it's great! Fries get a little soft from being hit and in the bag, but I love a soft fry, I know, weird. I did miss the nice hot fry pre wing like you get when you eat in, but overall take out is still bomb, so don't let COVID stop you from getting your wing fix! Thank you Duffs! read more

We were trying to find another top 5 wing place in the Buffalo area, but we failed. I would say that this was a big let down from the reviews. The sauce was the best part of the meal and that is sad. The fries were not even edible do to being overcooked and barely warm. The wings were definitely overcooked and dry, thankfully the sauce helped save them some. The soda was also off, but I guess that could be an East Coast vs Midwest thing although our Diet Mountain Dew tasted nothing like the bottles version around here. There were 5 of us and dropped $115 before tip. We still tipped 20% even though our waitress was barely around. I wouldn't go out of my way to have wings here again. When I came to Duff's I was instantly greeted and seated. The staff were friendly and the place seemed to be clean but you could tell it had been around for a while. The menu was simple, I ofcourse was there to try the wings. I ordered a small starter salad with ranch dressing which was ok. When it came time to order the wings, it was emphasized that "medium" was hot so hot was really hot. They actually had multiple types of medium wings, I ordered 5 "light medium" and 5 BBQ. They came with a ranch dressing cup and a bucket to put your leftover bones. The wings were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Light medium was just spicy enough for me and the sweet BBQ helped to balance out flavors. The wings were good but not the best I've ever had. Overall, Duff's was above average and a worthwhile place to get buffalo wings for me. read more

Buffalo is definitely the birthplace of the chicken wing, and Duffs is one of the indisputable champions. I've been here multiple times growing up, as our family is all from the Buffalo area - thus there was seldom a trip here without a visit to Duffs (and ALL the other Buffalo classics, including Anderson's, Grovers, Chefs, and the Anchor Bar of course). Most recently I was here for the weekend and we decided to give it a try since my husband had NEVER been #oops! There are a lot of options to choose from in terms of how you can order this glorious bird. Sauces were pretty funny to read. Their sauce include; - Mild - Mild Medium - Medium Light - Medium - Medium Hot - Hot Seems pretty simple until you read their descriptions which made me giggle: medium is HOT, medium hot is VERY HOT, hot is VERY VERY HOT. So the 5 of us decided to go with 30 wings with Medium Light. If you're a glutton for punishment, and have an undying with to contract a severe stomach ulcer, they have some additional sauce choices - the Suicidal Sauce and the Death sauce - these don't exactly seem altogether pleasant, but to each their own! Additional offerings include BBQ and Spicy BBQ, which sound great for the savory/sweet lovers out there. For the record, the Medium Light was the PERFECT balance of spice, flavor, and heat. Not too spicy, but not wimpy either (well, for us at least...). Our table decided they wanted to order an order of onion rings and the largest bowl of french fries I've ever seen in my life. Personally, I had a couple fries and 2 onion rings - both were really crunchy and decent, but I wanted to focus on the star of the show - the celery of course. Only half kidding here, one of my favorite parts of a wing meal is dipping the celery in the hot sauce/blue cheese combo at the end. Evidently they had salads and wraps too, we didn't venture anywhere outside the wings section - it was a late lunch and we had a big dinner event that evening, and didn't want to 'overdo it'. You know, we wanted to keep our lunch of fried food and poultry as light as possible. Please excuse the mediocre photos - I was more concerned about eating than using my phone. AND since it's wings, it's kinda like that old saying once you pick up a chicken wing, your hands are greasy until the end of time. Take home message: wings are inarguably delicious. Classic, simple, and no frills. Your table is simple, adorned with giant water glasses and a pitcher of water (they know you'll be needing it), and industrial napkin dispenser. The place hasn't change since 1954 (there were photos on the walls of older Duffs!) - in reality they could do with updating, making it MUCH larger and establishing a true restaurant. As it stands, it feels like the dining room was an afterthought thrown together to accommodate people who refuse to bring their wings home to eat. The wings are delicious, and definitely take place in the all-time-favorite category, but not for nothing, they're standing firm as my SECOND favorite (Chicken or the Egg in LBI is still #1)! read more

Had a German friend come to Buffalo LITERALLY to try chicken wings and see why Buffalo is the home of the "Buffalo wings." As soon as we entered, we noticed the resturant was nearly empty. So I politely requested that we are seated near a window because my friend is claustrophobic. The middle age gentleman looked at his table chart WHICH WAS NEARLY EMPTY and said "sorry I don't have any open tables near a window." As he proceed to seat us in the middle, we literally see 4 empty tables near a window that were empty. This was our first meal in Buffalo NY. Of course we had to try the Buffalo wings and Buffalo style pizza. The hotel front desk recommended this place and we ordered to go. The location is a local chain and the expansion had cost the joint some character and the food probably tasted a lot different since franchising the name. It was still tasty and the original location we visited was a kicking hot spot for Bill's fans. They have great specials with wings, fries and soda/beer - very reasonably priced for the best wings you'll ever have. So, while in Rome (buffalo), you have to have wings, it would be a literal crime not to. Looking through some reviews, Duff's seemed like it was fairly accepted as a pretty good place, and this one was open for like 40 years. If you are looking for a nice building or fancy emmenities, look elsewhere. Kind of reminds me of a dive that I used to go to in college. White brick building on the corner of a otherwise lonely street, Duffs on the side. We sat at a little 4 top, right next to their signature "Our Medium is Hot..." sign. The wings were what a wing should taste like. Buffalo, with a nice taste of cider vinegar. Fries were great, but we made the mistake of getting 2 sides... it is literally a salad bowl of deliciousness. Too huge, however. One fry will feed 4. Stop in and get the original. Buff stops here. It's a wing joint so expect no frills and definitely no high tech big screen TV's all over the place. Actually, it's really a simple place that focuses on it's craft. Respect! It was mostly full of 'tourists' and families and honest folk that want...well...some wings. And the buffalo wings live up to the hype. Good and tasty and finger lickin' good. I think they splash up mayo and bleu cheese together and call it their secret sauce. (my guess). I have to say that I didn't love it. Pick one. But don't mix both. Nothing was over the top here. Liv and I are in town for a softball tournament and Duffs was close to the hotel we are staying at. Place was on the corner and a complete brick building. When we walked in, looked very much like a dive bar. The big deal is wings. So, we ordered 5 BBQ wings for Liv and 10 medium light for me. Liv thought they had too much BBQ sauce. I enjoyed mine. Another must try while in buffalo. Everyone tells you that you have to eat at Duffs when learning your about to go to Buffalo. So after landing and wanting something everyone would enjoy. We headed here. It hit the spot!they offer wings, fry and beer packages which was perfect for our little family. I opted for the medium flavored wings and Of course I asked for a side of gravy to eat with our shoestring fries. Wings were cooked crispy, naked and came saucy with a side of blue. The shoestring fries were the kids favorite. But you do need to season them. Simple menu offerings and a large bucket to put the eaten wings in. This was a great beer and wings spot to visit. My husband and I got away from going out for wings because when we first moved here all we ate was pizza and wings. Well we decided on a whim to stop at Duff's on Sheridan one day and let me tell you, we were so happy we did. We ordered 30 wings and French fries and onion rings. We ate like champs! Those big, crisp, perfectly sauced wings and crisp French fries and rings! Oh my gosh!! Everything was super hot when it came out. Ambiance as soon as you walk in is awesome, very friendly staff. Manager always walking around, chatting, making sure customers are happy. The pizza and wings are AWESOME. They support a Veterans organization that provides service dogs to Veterans. Not sure how that works exactly, but I do know I was in there twice now when they were presenting somebody from that organization with a check for $5000. This individual also had a service dog with them. Way to serve the community and those who served our country. You will always have my respect and support for your place of business. read more
