Man, I've been wanting to try eating Duke's for quite a while now. I came by here because I was in the area and got a recommendation for the chicken sandwich. I found out it was a BBQ Chicken sandwich. I got it with no mayo. There wasn't anything spectacular or wrong with it. But for $6 and change for the sandwich alone, looking back I wish I would have spent that same $6 and change on a fast food combo meal. Word of warning, I was dressed in my work clothes, when I went to take my first bite all of the BBQ sauce had settled at the bottom of the wrapping paper for the burger. I didn't notice this and on my first bite a good 1-2 ounces of watery sauce dropped on my dress shirt and pants. What a way to start a meal! :/ The sandwich itself didn't have any fat or anything in it but it was seriously lacking flavor even with the BBQ sauce. And the BBQ Sauce was all watery, wth! It was like a vinaigrette or something. Ehhh, I guess I didn't miss much after all these years of not trying it. I have gone to this location for many years, never having a issue. The first issue arose today (Sunday, 11/7/2021. My boyfriend ordered the gyro sandwich, the meat looked a few days old. Looked like it had been reheated several times and resembled old bacon. He couldn't even bite it thru in his sandwich, so I highly recommend NOT to order the gyro!!! read more

This was not tasty at all. The hash browns tasted fake and the eggs had no flavor. They were completely overcooked. Fuck this place. If I could give it negative stars I would. I don't know if the cashiers are just incompetent or indifferent to their jobs but expect to have your order made wrong. Overpriced! Ordinary American food with unreasonable price. I ordered a grill chicken sandwich cost $6.89. I asked to add some bacon to my order and were charged $2.00 for 2 stripes. When I got the sandwich I found there is a small piece of chicken inside which made me mad cause I really don't think this kind of quality sandwich cost more than $10.00 (after tax and they charge $.55 for using credit card which is not legal). On 4/11/20 I made a phone call order. I had to repeat 3 times to the girl each of my 5 items. I was livid when I got there because 4 customers who were there ahead of me did not have masks on. I said very loudly that is a requirement now that everyone have a mask on or they should be told to leave. When I got to the cashier she did have a mask and I told her her manager needs to make sure everyone who comes through that door have a mask. All she said was I know. Then after getting ready to leave they screwed up my order now repeating for the 6th time and they accused me of not telling me I ordered onion rings. I always liked going to this place but let's just say I will no longer go back. So I was waiting on my onion rings I noticed that the lady that took my order from phone did not have a mask or any gloves on. Then I see a cook without gloves touching my food. The food is decent but the customer service is the absolute worst I have EVER experienced. An employee by the name of Karen has repeatedly gotten my family's orders wrong regardless of who places it. I understand there's bound to be an occasional mistake, but this is every single time. Each time we try to get the order corrected or explain she gave us the wrong items she then proceeds to argue nonstop saying that we don't know what we ordered. Duke's is a solid burger joint along a stretch of Valley Blvd. where there is plenty of competition. I go here for breakfast once a week or so. Duke's is my go-to spot for one simple reason: the hash browns. I have had breakfast at every burger joint between the 605 and Hacienda, and without a doubt, Dukes does them best. Nice, wide shred on the potatoes, cooked with enough grease to get crispy, but not so much as to pool on the plate. read more

The only reason I'm bring my rating down is because the owner is really rude and most of the cashiers are also. We really enjoy going to eat there on Sunday mornings but the last time I went I asked for a ranch dressing and the really nice lady who serves the food gave it to me. A couple of mins later she came back asking me for .35 cents which to me was ok but I know she got in trouble for it...what really made me mad was that the owner gave me some old fries. I asked for crispy fries and I know he threw old ones back in the fryer (I use to work at a restaurant and know what fries look like when they've been refried). Moral of my story is that the owner shouldn't worry about .35 cents for a ranch dressing when he is serving old fries. read more

This is my third trip for breakfast . my first time I ordered the French toast which was delicious except for the scrambled eggs the were overcooked , dry and brown. The second visit was better I ordered an egg white omelette a little brown from over cooking but still edible. today I decided to try the omelette again and asked for egg whites and crispy hash browns I received that plus a over cooked crispy brown omlette...disgusting!. I called and realized they charge you an extra $1 without letting you know the girl on the phone said she needed me to drive back to get my money. It wasn't the money I wanted. I freakin' forgot to ask for a ranch and the cashier has the nerve to charge me plus charge me a 50 cent fee for using my debit card. I remember this place having a really good burgers. We haven't been here since the unfortunate fire it had a few years back but this time around it was just ok. Hamburger bread was falling apart and the hamburger patties needed more seasoning. Fries were served without any type of salt or seasoning salt (very bland) and when I asked for mustard I was given 2 packages. So this place is right next to my work. I don't go here often because I normally bring my lunch but when I do their pastrami burger is my meal of choice. It's very good and at a decent price. I have tried their normal pastrami and it's not worth what they charge. There fried zucchini are hit or miss and they are very stingy on their ranch. I ordered a double cheeseburger combo (large fries and soda) which came out to just under $10. Like other Yelpers have said, their burgers are dry. Like well done dry.
