Great local food, with attentive service: - Serenata: beautifully cooked fish with local root vegetables. Would have wished for more seasoning re: fish to contrast vegetables like an acid - Bread pudding: sweet and caramel-y. Loved this Cons: - a little pricey - took a while for food to arrive

Dulcesalado has been recommended to me for a while, but I finally got to try it for lunch. I had high expectations, and they were exceeded. The place is clean and has a nice, quiet ambiance. The service was great. For appetizers, the empanadillas were a good choice. The risotto and lobster tail chicharrones were excellent lunch entrees. And yes, the desert did not disappoint. I cannot wait to return, for I hear their brunch is great.

During the week I don't believe they serve brunch, as we went on a Wednesday before noon and were told we'd have to wait for the lunch menu at 12. It wasn't a problem with us as we wanted coffee also and the staff were very kind. If you don't get here early expect to wait or have a reservation. Everything was very good, except the tostones were really dry.

This restaurant was attached to the hotel I stayed at which was convenient for us. I ordered a blt with no avocado and no bacon which I enjoyed. It came with a side of salad and fries that were too salty for my liking but overall I was satisfied with my meal. The Caribbean PR was a refreshing drink. I also had a mimosa that had more orange juice than champagne.

Super cute hotel and restaurant. We went during the weekday around lunchtime and it was very busy, but we got lucky to get seats at the bar. EXCELLENT bartender. If he didn't like his job, he could've fooled us. Super upbeat and the drinks were great. He went above and beyond. They serve breakfast all day and the food was amazing. Great espresso as well. The bartender made the start of our vacation really awesome. We will be back when we come again in March this year.

Good food. Good service. Good ambiance. Good for family. On New Year day we didn't have a reservation and we were lucky to find a nice table for 6 people. I had huevos rancheros and it was delicious. On holidays I suggest to make a reservation .

Ate a few things here out of convenience - I stayed in the hotel upstairs for several days (Tropica). Tropica offers a welcome sangria from Dulcesalado and puts some chocolate chip cookies in the room - perfect start to our stay. The first night I ordered takeout shrimp with garlic sauce and yucca mofongo. Sauce was delicious, large shrimp, and loved the fried ball of yucca mofongo. The next day we wanted to try some ice cream nearby and found out that has some pretty tasty stuff - we had mango and passionfruit flavors. Our final day we had breakfast here. The salmon toast was delicious - I dont normally order toasts because I want a large portion but I didn't feel like it was lacking. My mom made her own omelette with manchego, mushrooms and a meat - a little on the salty side for her. The passionfruit juice was a nice change from boring oj. The coffee art was perfection. Service is pretty good here, a little slow on giving the check but at least they don't rush you. For breakfast we were seated near a very loud birthday party, and at 9am I was a bit annoyed. Seriously who has cake and sings loudly at 9am? I guess that's the New Yorker in me...I just wanted a quiet breakfast.

Everything on the menu looked superb! But we wanted to try something native so we opted for the heuvos rancheros followed by churros for dessert. Both were incredible and a great serving size! We also got a strawberry lemonade and an iced hibiscus tea. The food, decor and ambience were just perfect! I would highly recommend this place for great authentic Peurto Rican dishes along with the regular breakfast favorites such as avocado toast and Egg Benedict's.

Good service/bar tender (Jayson) and food/drinks were good (not amazing). I'd recommend the local moonshine as a digestivo after your meal.

After our experience, I'm…read moreguessing that they are paying for reviews or positively review bombing themselves, because the experience here is genuinely so horrible (and everyone around us felt the same way) that these reviews do not accurately reflect the restaurant at all. We sat down for dinner at 7:45 and did not receive our drinks until 8:20, even though we put in our order as soon as we sat down... and asked politely how much longer until our drinks would come out... twice. Food did not come out for an hour and half, it was cold by the time we got it. Mac and cheese is not great cold. The ribs are extremely overcooked and like eating beef jerky. Drinks were okay, but by the time we got them everyone's cocktails were watered down, as well as the soft drinks. The ambiance was not great either since everyone around us was visibly frustrated by the wait times and lack of service, a table across flagged the waitress multiple times to ask where their stuff was. The food was decent, but again, cold. The wait times were no joke. We wrapped up our 7:45 dinner around 10, simply because of how long it took to be served. Our waitress came to our table maybe 3 times total, we would have to stand and find her to figure out where our food/drinks were. They were also out of a good majority of items on the menu when we tried to order them. Overall I unfortunately don't recommend! Price, service, and food are not great.

The texture of the shrimp inside the bao buns was similar to whipped fluffy scrambled eggs-Excellent taste. The quesito frito was not the texture we were expecting however it was a delight ! Super soft creamy cheese on the inside with an excellent crisp on the outside topped with guava sauce and feta cheese sprinkles. The blueberry mule was ok. We were then extremely disappointed on the Mar y Tierra. The short rib was overcooked and dried out- no moisture in the meat at all. The shrimp tastes like it had been thawed and left out for too long. Tastes and smelled spoiled. The pasta sauce could have been cut through. The concept is not there behind this dish. The service took some time but we do not mind waiting for our food Ambiance was loud but we could still talk over the noise given we were closer to the entrance so less noise.

This local family-owned restaurant was a hit with our entire group of four. I ordered the Super Bowl Scramble, and wow, was it delicious. It was loaded with ham, sausage, eggs, potatoes seasoned with rosemary (which I absolutely love), and plenty of melted cheese. Every bite was flavorful and satisfying. My friend ordered the Power Omelette, her husband had the Famous French Toast, and my husband chose the Ashford Special. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals and was impressed with both the quality and the generous portions. I also had a fresh-squeezed orange juice, and it was absolutely delicious--fresh, sweet, and the perfect complement to breakfast. The portions are large, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. We left full, happy, and glad we stopped in. We arrived with no wait, but by the time we were eating, there was already a long line outside. Also, if you're in a hurry, this may not be the best choice. Everything is made fresh from scratch, so the food does take a while to come out. Service is definitely on island time, but once the food arrives, you'll understand why--it's well worth the wait. I ordered the California Surfer wrap, and wow...it was absolutely amazing! Everyone in our group raved about their meals, and the fresh-squeezed orange juice was out of this world. It felt so nice after getting overheated right before we got there. One thing I noticed while wandering around Old San Juan is that some restaurants likely survive on location and foot traffic alone, while others earn people seeking them out. Semilla definitely felt like the latter. It's tucked just around the corner from some of the busiest pedestrian areas, so it felt like we escaped the crowds for a little while without actually going very far. Overall, I'd happily come back. If you're staying nearby and looking for a good meal without being surrounded by the busiest tourist crowds, Semilla is well worth checking out.

This is global techniques blended with locally sourced Puerto Rican ingredients. From the moment you walk in, you feel welcome. I was there to celebrate my birthday (a reservation is a must). I asked if I could be seated in a different section of the restaurant, and even though they were packed, they said absolutely and found me a lovely seat in the bar area. The staff is knowledgeable and attentive. I suffer from severe food allergies but wanted to experience their tasting menu. My server spoke to the chef directly and then took the time to walk me through every option. I TRULY appreciated that they did not take anything off the menu but rather told me how they could adjust for my allergies. That is very rare and so very much appreciated that they went that extra mile for me. I highly recommend the tasting menu. It's 5 courses and they give you 3 options to choose from, within each course. And for the price ($85), a great value. Everything was delicious but I highly recommend the Breadfruit Gnocchi, Rainbow Runner Crudo, and Criollo Duck Mofongo. Chefs kiss! What I also noticed was, even though they were insanely busy, they didn't make you feel rushed. The invited you to savor the experience - which I did. Everything else was very well done. The two of us split one order of the five-course tasting menu plus an additional starter, and it ended up being a nice light meal. Had we each ordered our own tasting menu, it would have been far more food than we wanted...something we found to be a fairly common theme with portion sizes throughout Puerto Rico. The standout of the evening was the Criollo Duck Mofongo, which was absolutely exquisite and easily the best mofongo we had on our trip by far. The cocktails were tasty and unique, but a bit small for the price. This definitely isn't an every-night kind of restaurant...the prices are on the higher side.
