One bartender on a Friday evening meant it took 20 mins to get a drink. Nice decor but needs to deal with staffing issue.

As a speakeasy enthusiast myself I definitely agree to the fact that it is "hidden" but also it does kinda give corporate vibes a little bit - maybe we can say they "gentrified" the speakeasy experience which is honestly so funny for Palo Alto. But anyways I don't think a classification should stop you from visiting it. The food is actually surprisingly really good. We came with a pescatarian and honestly while the offerings for snacks were a bit slim, every option was really good. I feel like this was the first time where I understood the price even the the quantity is no where close to be desired. One shrimp is like $6 and I was like whoah. Service is definitely more laid back and it's overall just like a more chill atmosphere. I'm fortunate to work nearby so I'll definitely visit this place a few times after work to blow off some steam... And the drinks! Yes they are good! They are also quite strong! Would come back again but also if you're conscious of budget then I'm not sure if you'll find the same value proposition.

We tried to get here before the end of happy hour which is kinda early, at 5:30pm. Drinks are interesting and different, everything on the menu from the bites to drinks have a little Japanese fusion or influence going on. We pretty much tried every small plate on the menu. Most of it was delicious, a couple were just meh (katsu was not anything special, not was the duck meatball). Other than that, and over all, would highly recommend this spot in general. Btw the bar is from the same proprietor as the restaurant Protégé (across the street). Fun little bar for some music and drinks, they even have a disco ball.

Sherry Braised Pork Shank - The meat was tender and easily pulled off the bone, and the polenta it came with was rich and perfectly creamy. Smoked Salmon & Caviar - A bit too salty for my taste, so this one didn't quite hit compared to the others. The meat dishes were definitely worth it, especially with the generous portions. Overall, a good dinner option if you're in the area or staying nearby -- not necessarily a destination spot, but an easy choice.

Unfortunately, we left regretting that decision. From the start, the experience felt unwelcoming when we were seated with our 3-year-old daughter. There was no single overtly disrespectful moment, but the overall tone and repeated small interactions made us feel like we were being judged for having a child with us. At one point, when our daughter accidentally dropped her fork while playing, the reaction we received came across as frustration, which added to that feeling. We understand not every restaurant is designed for young children, but Broma presents itself as a place for friends and family. Instead, we felt like we had to constantly manage and overcorrect normal toddler behavior, which created stress and took away from what should have been a special occasion. Because of that, we didn't feel comfortable raising concerns during the meal when the server checked in--we were more focused on getting through the experience without drawing additional attention. We were also offered an off-menu item without any mention of price. The menu we were given did not list the smash burger, so when I ordered a double, I had no context for the cost. The final price was a surprise, and we would have made a different decision with that information upfront. The food itself did not match the price point. The "smash burger" was not prepared in the style typically expected, and overall the meal felt underwhelming for the cost. Lastly, the billing was confusing. The paper receipt listed "gratuity," while the digital receipt labeled the same charge as a "service charge," making it unclear whether an additional tip was expected. That lack of clarity does not align with the level of transparency expected at this price point. We don't mind paying for a great experience, especially for meaningful occasions, but this visit did not meet that standard and ultimately left us regretting our choice to celebrate here.

My husband and I had a baby free night out to celebrate my birthday and haberdasher did not disappoint. We went soon after opening so there was no line but I know they tend to have one later in the evening. We were greeted warmly at the door by the attendant who checked our ids. I was even wished a happy early birthday. When going into the bar, you walk down a staircase into a space that makes you forget you're in downtown San Jose with beautiful reds and burgundy decor. The staff is all smartly dressed; the bartender and bar back were both sweet and funny. I ordered a jack rose (my all time favorite), their seasonal watermelon waltz (this may be a new favorite for me, nice and refreshing) and one of their zero proof cocktails called a Mariposa which was soooo good as well. My husband ordered a couple old fashioned and a watermelon waltz for himself. We had an amazing time and look forward to coming back in the future.

And they don't allow outside food in even if the food was leftover in Togo bags from dinner. The place was busy when we finally went inside. But the bartenders were fast and we got two rounds of drinks as far as we could order. The dim lighting did look reddish. The large tables were reserved but there plenty of smaller high tops around. Memorable drinks were the perfect pear and the Andean Ascent. Perfect pear was not fruity at all and had a nice aroma and spice to it. The Andean ascent was a nice drink to start with, refreshing with a bit of fizz.

I love the Chef who is behind this restaurant and was excited to have watched her in 24 in 24 & Top Chef. I can see why she is a James Beard award winner! I came here recently with three girlfriends, and we shared a variety of dishes, all 5/5! * Avocado Dip + Plantain chips: great combo with plantain chips instead of usual tortilla chips * Wood-fired Eggplant + Carrot hummus, Tzatziki: adored the carrot hummus! * Shrimp Salad - absolutely delicious with crispy shrimp, avocado, quinoa, mandarins in a lime-herb vinaigrette. Outstanding. * Disco Fries: not your average French fries! Loved the pork sausage and pickled red onions, wonderfully tart savory flavor. *Sautéed green beans - next level green beans with a creamy vinaigrette and chopped cashews *Grilled Corn: spiced coconut, cotija and tajin. Delicious! *Red Pepper Bread: melts in your mouth I think we finished everything we couldn't help ourselves. It was so delicious! Really didn't have much room for dessert, but we had to splurge and check it out so we decided to share two plates: *Pandan Flan: I love flan, and this was phenomenal! The pandan caramel paired perfectly with the yogurt crème, and the coconut rice crunch and strawberries added texture. And, the plating was fabulous! *Mango Sticky Rice: the presentation alone was incredible. Best I've ever had. Next level! This is a must! To go along with the incredible food is a beautiful atmosphere that you just want to sit and save her. We had exceptional service as well. I honestly cannot wait to go back. Five stars Chef Stephanie!! I've heard so many good things about the sister restaurant in LA, Girl and the Goat. I will need to go there next time I'm in LA; now that I know what the fuss is all about!

The cocktail menu is inspired by records, and you can feel the creativity in every sip. These aren't your standard bar pours -- they're clearly thought out and crafted with personality. If you're someone who appreciates a drink with a story behind it, you'll be in your element here. The live DJ on weekends takes the whole experience to another level. The music isn't background noise -- it's part of the atmosphere, and it hits right. What makes this place truly special is that you're getting two completely different vibes under one roof. Walk into Still OG up front and you get a casual, laid-back energy -- easy conversation, good company, no pretension. Then slip into the speakeasy in the back and the whole mood shifts. Alter Ego is a proper intimate lounge with their full bar, and it feels like a world away from the street outside. The transition between the two spaces is surprisingly seamless and genuinely fun to experience. And they're open late, which puts them in a rare category of places actually worth staying out for. The vibe is really cute and tons of outdoor space with games. We came in on a weeknight for dinner and a few drinks. The strawberry salad was a standout, very fresh ingredients and delicious blend of toppings. We did not add a protein but that was an option. I also enjoyed the shrimp and flatbread. The shrimp had good flavor and was cooked well. The flatbread with duck confit had some heavy toppings with goat cheese and thick glaze. Both were a little too rich for me, but I enjoyed them. We ordered cocktails "Flying Ace" and "Cielo Rosa", Forager Flatbread, and Roasted Beet Salad, and cheese plate. The cocktails were fun and inventive, but maybe a bit too complex for us. The Flying Ace was a smoky old fashioned type drink with a charred cinnamon stick. Maybe the wrong choice for a sunny afternoon outdoor venue. The Cielo Rosa, with mezcal and jalapeño has a lot going on as well. The forager had great mushroom flavor and loved the roasted garlic. The first bites were great- wish they could have kept the crust crispier for later bites. (Heated plate works well) The beet salad was really good. The crushed pistachios really contrasted well with the beets.
