My boyfriend and I came here Friday night because another spot we went to had too long of a line. I'm pretty happy that we ended up coming here because this spot is pretty good! We ordered the Dan Dan Noodles, black pepper dumplings, and the demon wings. The waiter got our noodles wrong at first and offered to comp the noodles but my boyfriend doesn't like cucumbers so they made the dan Dan for us. I think this place is pretty good and a few touches would make it great. I think it's an approachable restaurant great for people who are looking into the cuisine. I feel they've made changes to the dishes to easier accommodate more people's palate. I think the menu could better reflect this so the expectations could be met. We were able to try all of their versions of the XLB dumplings, along with the garlic pea sprouts and their wonton soup. Although I have never been too big on XLB, my wife really loved the ones from here. The garlic pea sprouts were a standout. They were so delicious and full of garlic flavor. The wonton soup had a rich and flavorful broth with thicker skinned wontons. I usually prefer thinner skin, but I still really enjoyed them. The decor and color scheme are calming and inviting. I liked being able to see into the kitchen and watch the chefs fill dumplings by hand. The servers were fantastic and made sure we were enjoying every bite. Try everything, the menu is modest, so you can try almost the whole menu in one sitting! It's a small place too. No room for big parties. There are only seven or eight tables most are for 4 ppl. Only the salads are vegetarian, so for the past reviewer who's a non-carnivore, look at the menu before you sit. The Dan Dan noodles are good, the scallion oil noodles are equally tasty. All the steamed dumplings are great. My fave is pork Xiao long bao, but I want to try the black pepper beef dumplings next time. Food tasted fine and was fresh. Place is more Asian/fusion than traditional Asian. Flavors are a little muted though. The vinegar condiment was not very acidic, the ginger slivers with the XLB lacked the "bite" one gets from ginger. The Dan Dan noodles did not resemble traditional Dan Dan noodles. Shredded chicken was used instead of minced pork. Did not contain crushed peanuts or peanut butter. Had kale in it and lacked heat you would get from Sichuan peppercorns. It did contain an Asian-style sauce but definitely not Dan Dan sauce as one would expect. The XLBs were soupy but skin was a little on the thick side. It did hold together without losing the soup when picked up. Flavors were good overall and freshness of the ingredients are a plus. Just a little bit underwhelming on the flavors and definitely more Asian/fusion in style. The Dan Dan noodles was an oddity and those who are a fan of traditional Dan Dan noodles would best avoid this dish. read more

I didn't get many pictures because we were so excited to eat. We were the only ones in at the time. It was Monday after 3pm, and people didn't start showing up until we left around 5! Inside was clean and comfortable. There's windows in the kitchen so you can watch them prepare the dough. I don't think we had one disappointing dish! We got pork XLB, pan fried pork buns, steamed pork dumplings, Szechuan noodles, okra (without the shrimp paste), green onion pancake, golden crispy tofu, custard bunny buns, chocolate XLB. (Yes it was a lot! And we are stuffed) The pricing was actually quite fair for the amount of food we ordered. Everything was flavorful and very fresh. The dough and noodles were also notably really nice. All the flavors were very authentic and reminded me of some of my mom's cooking. The lady taking our order was also cooking our meal - and the wait wasn't too long at all. She was super sweet and helpful. If I'm in the area again I will definitely come back. The dan dan noodles were also different than the authentic ones I've had. Overall, this place is no where near an authentic Chinese restaurant. The restaurant was small, but had a home feel. The staff were great. Very friendly and checked on us when they saw we needed something. We ate the shrimp & chives and pork dumpling. Man! It was so flavorful! They had wings also. One was called Angel and the other Demon. We ent for the Demon wings. The skin was so crispy and the inside was so tender and juicy. I wish we ordered.
